Author’s Notes: So uh, im really sorry I lost the motivation to keep writing 😭 However I DID start a one shot. So, this is about 1/3 to 1/2 of what I had planned out. I hope you like it nevertheless. Maybe if you guys actually wanted it I can finish it sometime?? This has been sat in my drafts a while, but perhaps someone out there might still like what I did have. :)

Word Count: Not much-

The air is crisp and cool tonight. It’s late October, and despite how short of a walk this was, you’re slightly regretting not bringing any form of jacket. Oh well. This is an in and out job anyway. You half shuffle on one spot, waiting to be buzzed into the apartment block. It’s a little shifty down here, considering it’s a more tucked away road with no one seeming to be around. You’re contemplating pressing the button again, second guessing if you even had the right number, when the door unlocks, as if in perfect timing.

When your friend had their motorcycle break down, they’d come to you urgently for help. Instead of comforting them, like anyone else would have done, you’d had the idea to call on an old friend from a few years ago to see if he could do anything about it. He wasn’t a professional, as far as you knew, but he had a similar bike when you knew him and so that was the best you could do. You weren’t expecting much of a result or response at all, but alas, Mello actually came through. And so, here you are now, making your way up the stairs to his new apartment.

Though, the face that answers the door when you get up there is not one that you recognise. He’s a brunette in a striped shirt, with a thick pair of goggles around the top of his head. He’s definitely not a bad looking guy. Now you came to think of it, he somewhat resembles Mello’s description of a childhood friend he’d mentioned a few times before. His one hand is leaning near the top of the door, holding it open, while the other is stuffed into the pocket of his jeans. His eyebrows are raised and he’s almost smirking if you look closely enough.

“Is Mello here?” You ask, putting your own hands in your pockets, subconsciously mirroring his body language. A common sign of attraction, just not one either of you picked up on.

“Yeah, he’s here. Just give me one second.” He lets the door go and it slams fairly loudly due to the weight, and it’s followed by muffled shouting. Aside from that, you’re left in your own awkward silence. You take a short look around, then make the decision to stop and subtly listen in, to see if you can hear anything about yourself.

“Mell! There’s a cute girl here to see you!”

“Huh?”

“Yeah, H/C haired girl! You didn’t tell me you had a date?”

“I don’t-“ You can’t make out the rest, but Mello’s roommate is snickering to himself as he opens the door a couple minutes later.

“Cute girl, huh?” You inquire, putting on an unfazed front to cover for the fact that simply one comment alone was enough to fluster you.

“Yeah.” He looks you up and down, completely and obviously checking you out.

“Do you say that to a lot of girls or is it just me?” You’re pretty sure it’s the first option, since he doesn’t even know you or why you’re here.

He dodges your question with one of his own,“Awfully inquisitive aren’t we?”

“It’s not exactly a complicated question, dude.” Yeah, calling him dude will swat away any interest in you. Nice going, Y/N.

He suddenly hunches over as he would have if you’d have punched him in the stomach, clutching at his side and hissing in fake pain. “It’s alright, I can take a bit of venom.”

“Oh please, it’s hardly venom. I’m just too lazy to return to favour for someone who will rinse and repeat with the next girl who comes along, ya feel?” You mentally hit yourself again. How badly are you ruining your own chances right now? It’s kinda laughable, and not in a quirky cute sense.

Luckily for you, he doesn’t seem to be too put off. “Oh, so you think I’m cute too?”

“I’ll plead the fifth on that one. Is he here or what?”

“Yeah, sure. But if you ever get bored of him, you’re always welcome in my company. It wouldn’t be with anyone else if you’d let me get to know you, I can tell you that much.” He steps aside and you find your way into the living room. You’re unsure whether you should sit down, so you end up just hovering there as the conversation continues.

“You don’t even know my name, but you never know, maybe I’ll take you up on that offer.”

Mello approaches from the hall as you stand to one side

“Sorry about him, Matt’s a total dick.” He narrows his eyes with suspicion, before rolling them and letting on a half smile.

“Pshh, it’s fine. I figured as much.” You smirk at Matt, somewhat teasingly. Diverting your attention back to Mello, you start slowly digging through your pockets for the money, “How much was it for the bike parts altogether?”

“Let’s call it 20,000 yen?” Mello responds promptly. “I wouldn’t usually just give This stuff out but I do owe you a favour.”

“Bet.” You nod, handing him the cash. “It’s very much appreciated.”

Mello disappears again, heading back out into the hall and leaving you with Matt. For a moment or two, it’s deadly silent, and just as you go to break it, he beats you to it.

“A girl who fixes cars, huh?”

You turn around on one heel to face him, “You wish. I’m not that cool. Just running an errand for a friend, I’m ‘fraid.” You shrug.

“Hm, that’s a shame. We almost had something in common.”

You take a glimpse at the TV, noticing the paused game menu looked familiar. “We might do. GTA, huh?”

“Yup. You any good or what?”

You respond with, “I’m alright”, though the cocky grin you’re wearing says a little more than that. “Nothing major, not like I’ve been playing since I was a kid or anything.”

“See, I knew I’d like you.”

Again, Mello emerges, carrying a rather large cardboard box in his arms. “I’d hang around and talk, but I’ve gotta rush out-“ He starts, but you cut him off, shaking your head. “Don’t worry about it, I’ve got it. I should probably leave too soon anyway.”

Mello breathes a sigh of relief that he hasn’t offended you and places the box on the nearby counter. He’s not always so considerate, but he subconsciously makes the exception for an old friend. It takes a weight off of your own shoulders too, to see that you’re welcome. You’d been hesitant to contact him at first, maybe typing out and deleting your message a few times. It’s good to see that it went well.

He grabs his coat and puts on a pair of boots he’d left by the door earlier, “See you soon maybe, Y/N.”

“Yeah, see ya.”

You go to retrieve the box, and Matt’s voice returns again. “Hm, nice name.”

“You think so?”

“Sure. Plus, now I know your name, maybe you’ll play for 10 with me.” He adds, trying to not seem so desperate, ultimately failing, however. He doesn’t exactly give you time to answer, after all, “Get comfy. Mi casa es su casa!”

“Do you know a lot of Spanish, by any chance?”

“Ha, nope.” He responds matter-of-factly. Well, it is a popular catchphrase, you suppose. So much for that conversation starter. Oh well, things don’t feel as stiff and forced by this point anyway.

He tosses the controller to you without warning as you take off your shoes and sit down on the sofa, with catching it swiftly in one hand. “Hey, I know where you’re at. Let me see if I can get this mission in record time.” You laugh, and you think Matt might be doubting you a little still, though he doesn’t drop any obvious signs of it. He’s only dropping more signs that he’s into you.

Author’s Note: HI SYL!! You’re never a bother, don’t worry 💪 Some parts of this request are a little bit like me and you requested my four boys, so this was lowkey self-indulgent to write. I’m here for it! >:) As always, I hope this is to your liking!

Mello:

•Mello has his defences up high when you first meet. If you make a wrong first impression, it may take a while to salvage things, but it’s definitely possible. Although he doesn’t match your act initially, his mindset and manner is the same, if that makes sense? So once he allows it to happen, you totally click, and neither party ever takes an insult to heart unless one of you really crossed a line. If you ever did say something out of order, he’s quick to call it out due to his hot headed nature, so you’ll know about it.

•He’s a little less outwardly childish than you, however, aside from how petty he can get in arguments with people. So naturally, he’s a little surprised when you turn out to be kind of smart.

•A romantic relationship is not unlikely to come from this, but there might be some communication work to be done as things get more serious.

•Considering you’re a total agent of chaos, he might ask for some help in a few plans here and there, but he’ll never ask anything of you that might put you in harm’s way. He knows better than that. Sometimes he even scolds himself later for the little things he does let you do, despite the fact nothing bad happened from it.

•If you’re the type to steal things and run with them, he’ll fully just chase you and tackle you to the floor or sofa, ending up with both of you just struggling to get up in a fit of laughter.

•He’ll try to shrug off any stupid nicknames you give him, insisting he’s not into that sappy stuff. He’s lying; if you stopped he’d soon be questioning what happened to his s/o.

•Mello adores the fact that you have a sharp enough tongue to defend yourself when you feel like it, whether you’re actually mad or just hitting back with something witty for the sake of it. As much as he likes to feel all strong for stepping in now and again, he doesn’t think he could cope with someone who needs him to do that 24-7. He would if he had to, but it would just get on his nerves fast.

•Mello is massively insecure over his scar. It only brings back bad memories, and he thinks it makes him look super unattractive. You’re the first to reassure him he looks hot as hell, though he never really buys it deep down. It’s hard to just undo something like that, after all.

•When he’s insulted over it by a stranger when you’re out together one evening, your mouth opens before you even have chance to think, cussing the guy out, and Mello swears he can feel his heart melting then and there.

•And you’re going IN on this guy, like more than he’s ever seen you do before. He’s like…honoured that you care so much for him, really. He doesn’t see himself as worthy to be cherished that way. Maybe you should do it more often.

•To be honest, you’re gonna have to give him some time. L is a very reserved person who spends most of his time in his own company. Although energetic people aren’t a foreign concept to him, as we’ve seen him warm to Misa to some capacity, he can’t exactly match up to you. You’ll have to be persistent with him and show genuine care at times. Take an interest in what he’s doing, yet not so much that you’re in danger or it’s all you talk about. L needs a break from working more often than he’d like to admit, after all. It’s more just about making him feel seen, if you will.

•That being said, your bright personality becomes like a bit of a breath of fresh air once you’ve been around long enough, and he might just find himself subconsciously falling for you. You’re not around and something feels off, empty in a way, and he just can’t put his finger on it. It’s actually probably Watari or one of the task force who has to call L out on his feelings, which brings on a bit of a lightbulb moment.

•He panics initially. Despite your fierce nature, there’s almost like an urge to protect you from any and all harm. A relationship with L is not only high risk, but the things he’s seen have taken a mental toll on him over the years. The last thing he wants is for you, especially positive and confident as you are, to see and experience the same things he has. He’ll most likely initially push you away due to this fear, then realise he can’t take it and blurt out a confession as if it’s no big deal, just to get it done and over with.

•Staring contests. Don’t ask me why, it just happens. You’re always talking big about how you’re going to beat him next time, and you never ever do.

•Your unpredictable nature keeps him awake, and that’s something he grows to love over time. The sugar may start failing to work, but you come in clutch bestie. 💪

•I don’t think anyone would get the opportunity or have the guts to straight up insult L, but he’s already thought of the scenario anyway. He seriously advises against you going off on anyone, and so there would probably be an argument if that scenario did happen, because he directly told you not to. I’m sure you can win him over with some cake after, though.

Matt:

•He’s definitely a little put off and confused at first. Matt’s generally a very chilled person, and he’s somewhat disoriented by your lack of a filter when you barely know him. He won’t exactly say anything, but he’s often questioning to himself if you’re actually making fun of him or not.

•He does eventually grow to be used to and enjoy your sense of humour, however, and will start doing things back to you.

•Matt would probably love to set up pranks either with or for you. Nothing massively high effort, but really simple ones like the cling film in the doorways. If it’s not for you, it’s probably for Mello, and he’s going to film his reaction every single time.

•If you give him stupid nicknames, he’ll give you them right back. Two can play at that game, my friend.

•He still thinks you’re genuinely trying to argue with him sometimes, so you’ll have to clarify so he doesn’t get pissed.

•Matt isn’t really the type to want to make a huge scene out of small things, so when you stick up for him he’s mostly trying to quietly drag you away. Matt’s good at being able to just roll his eyes and ignore things without them getting to him the majority of the time. So, as much as he appreciates it, he doesn’t need you to defend him. He won’t get mad, exactly, just embarrassed (of himself, not you) when people start looking. Do they think he can’t defend himself? Do people think the situation is worse than it actually is right now?

•He’ll still thank you, because it’s reassuring to know you care so much about him. Matt doesn’t have a deep connection with anyone besides you and Mello, so reaffirming that you’re not going anywhere, whatever form that may come in, is something he is grateful for.

Matsuda:

•Oh he’s really not gonna get it at first. He thinks you totally despise him and starts avoiding you at all costs for a good while. The last thing he wants is to be in your way, after all.

•If you’re on the task force he’s going to have an especially hard time telling apart your loving insults with their serious ones until you outright tell him.

•I think he takes to the nicknames thing specifically, though. He finds it really funny and you’re always trying to see who can up with something more witty or weird than the other.

•I thought specifically a few days ago of calling him tote bag instead of Touta, and now I can’t stop doing that in my own head 💀

•Matsuda can be a really sensitive person, so don’t go too overboard with what you say to him. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a complete no-go, he can take a joke. It’s just that if it’s too often or too personal he might start to distance himself again.

•People tend to come down harshly on him at work, and don’t always like to hear what he has to say. Make sure you don’t completely override all conversations and give him that space to talk. It makes him feel appreciated, despite it being a bare minimum type of thing.

•If you defended him, he’d be yours forever. Like this man would be SO in LOVE. You’ve got more guts than him, and he thinks the absolute world of you for it. He wishes he could stand up for himself though, still.

•He’ll brag about you all the time, including for your charisma. You’re all “cool and smooth” to him. He’s practically starstruck by you no matter how long you’ve been together.

Updates Post:

•Firstly, I gotta apologise, I’ve taken down the BSD SMAU, but let me explain. I basically deleted my SMAUs apps to free up space in my phone for a trip, and totally forgot I had a story ongoing because it was on hiatus while I had exams. 😭✋ I lost all the profiles and everything- Well done, Raid. Well done. 💀 I’ll most likely end up redoing it though at some point, as I already had an entire plot planned out! I can’t promise when, though.

•On a lighter note, I’m expanding my character list a little! Hell yeah! You can now request for the following characters; Matt (Death Note), Teru Mikami (Death Note), Maki Zenin (JJK), Yuji Itadori (JJK) and Lucy Maud Montgomery (BSD)! I love these characters immensely, and I’m very excited to write for them!

•With that said, I’ll now be setting a character limit, which is 4 characters per ask max. If you don’t specify who you want out of a broad group, I’ll probably just choose who I get ideas for first. You’re always welcome to drop by with another request if you decide you want someone else after, though.

“Caught, Not Quite In 4K” - Death Note Boys

Author’s Note: So so sorry for the wait! I wanted to get it absolutely perfect. I hope they’re to your liking!!

•Work on the Kira case was progressing swiftly. It had been bizarre at first, but everyone finally seemed to be adjusting to conditions on the investigation. As much as was possible, anyway.

•You hadn’t spoken much with L (or, should I say, Ryuzaki) since the earlier incident, aside from a few short minutes here and there. Perhaps he was taking a liking to your conversations. He’d ask simple questions, like if you thought things were going well or not, or how the other team members were doing from your perspective. It was all professional talk, just in a more relaxed tone, to some degree. There was no doubt that there was at least a sense of mutual respect between the two of you.

•Matsuda was out on a coffee run for everyone (or whatever drink is of your choosing) and in true Matsuda fashion, forgot his ID to get back into the building. It had started to rain pretty heavily, and the first thing he’d thought to do was to call you so that you could come downstairs and let him in.

•Which brings us to the present moment. You’re sat next to L, going through a few new witness files, noting down anything suspicious. Nothing special. In fact, so mundane you can feel your eyes getting heavy. Your phone starts to ring in your bag, and you raise one eyebrow at the contact name. “Why is Matsuda calling?”

•He explains the situation and without a second thought, you rush down to grab the door for him…leaving your phone on the table, completely in L’s line of sight, with the screen lit up and displaying none other than himself. It’s taken from behind, and it’s just him sat at the exact same spot he was now, though the photograph was clearly taken on a different day, as there were a few slight variations. Small things like lighting or a set of keys. Not something everyone would notice, but this is L.

•When you come back up, you’re carrying half of the drinks, including L’s and your own. As you go to set his down, he looks up at you, eyebrows raised. He doesn’t comment on the phone though, and instead just opts to take the cup and thank you. However, you can tell something was definitely wrong, and call him out on it.

•”Well, it’s nothing much, so there’s no need to worry.” He sighs, then pauses for a second before he begins again, “It’s just that I noticed the wallpaper on your phone. It’s…definitely something.”

•Your mind completely shuts down in embarrassment, and you’re speechless at first.

•”I told you, it’s nothing to worry about too much. I would just rather it were deleted.”

•You stand there looking and feeling like a total idiot. Of course he wouldn’t want pictures of himself on anyone’s phone? Think about who you’re dealing with here, Y/N. Damn.

•You manage to make up some excuse about how it looked good from an artistic perspective, but he didn’t buy it at all.

•L is definitely a tough one to break, and you just seem to keep setting yourself back. Stay optimistic, though, and you never know what might happen.

Light:

•You’d taken him up on the offer for his number and kept in contact over the coming weeks, considering he seemed nice enough- both in personality and to look at, that was.

•You’d been studying for an upcoming exam in a corner of the library one afternoon when you caught his attention. He noted that you seemed to be struggling, and suggested you come over later that day, to see if he could be of any help.

•Of course, Sayu makes a huge deal of you coming over. You’re barely even romantically involved yet, but she keeps calling this a date and asking you various questions about yourself as Light grabs a few snacks and a drink for each of you from the kitchen. You don’t exactly mind it, aside from the slightly awkward atmosphere. Well, awkward for you two, not for Sayu in the slightest.

•Everything is always neat and set up in Light’s room, but the ambience isn’t usually this cosy. Lucky you, he’s gone the extra mile for this occasion.

•Things are fairly productive but you do also have a lot of good conversation, getting to know each other more.

•You realise it’s gotten dark outside, and Light asks you what time it is. Of course, when you turn on your phone to check, he’s greeted with a photo of himself.

•”Already, hm?” He smiles softly and plays it totally cool, as though he’s completely unfazed by it. Maybe there’s a little hint of deceit or whatever, but still. He reaches for your other hand that’s resting on the desk, stroking the back of it with his thumb.

•It’s not often at all Light is affectionate, especially in such a calm and peaceful manner. It’s all part of his game, to make you let your guard down.

•That being said, however, I think this would be the moment he realises that he actually has something with you, rather than it all being fake for his personal gain.

•I don’t mean to say it’s an instant change, but rather, this is the turning point that begins a genuine relationship. He’ll try and stop himself from falling, telling himself it’s all for show, but it’s not much use.

•He finds himself actually wanting to spend time with you, and you ended up staying for dinner with the family that evening.

•For one night, the names in the notebook would just have to wait until later than usual.

Hopefully L wouldn’t notice a break in the pattern or anything, right?

•Bonus: You don’t know it, but of course Ryuk is there the whole time, and he totally saw the way Light looked at you. Trust me, he did not fail to comment on it. “It would be a shame if I had to write your name down before you could get married, wouldn’t it? I’m sure you wouldn’t want to leave the new love of your life so lonely?” And so on.

•Play your cards right, and you might find yourself in a position of royalty of the new world.

Matsuda:

•He stuck to his word, and as promised, he took you out on a date.

•As I have said before, Matsuda is definitely a fun date kind of guy. Let’s say for this scenario, you guys went bowling and for milkshakes, or something similar. And also, like I said, he brought you flowers, duh. Specifically, he went for a small batch of red roses for the first date. He figured he couldn’t go wrong with the most classic type, and pictured it just like in the movies. He’s such a cheesy romantic, let’s be real.

•You both had the best time and took a ton of pictures together! Mostly ones where you were both pulling stupid faces and messing about. There’s one in particular where you’re doing gun fingers and pretending to shoot each other, trying your hardest not to laugh, and that’s the one you set as your background. Maybe the first date was a little early for setting phone wallpapers, but the picture was just too cute to pass it up.

•Fast forward about a week or so. You had been calling and texting whenever you got the chance, totally hitting it off.

•He drops you a text one day in the early evening, informing you he’d gotten off of work early, and offering to go for a walk together and catch up.

•You were sharing headphones and listening to music from his phone and talking about everything you had to possibly tell the other when his phone suddenly died.

•”Oh, it’s okay,” you responded, “We can just use mine. I have a ton of songs downloaded.”

•You dig through your bag and pull out your phone, totally forgetting what your wallpaper was.

•Matsuda does a double take when you turn it on, totally surprised.

•”You set us as your background?” He questions, and you’re unable to read his expression. Now you thought of it, it was definitely a little strange considering you hadn’t even had your first kiss together yet.

•”Is that okay with you? I can change it if you’d like-“ you begin, but you’re cut off as he does exactly that. He pulls you into a soft kiss, one hand cupping the side of your face delicately, as if you were too precious for someone clumsy like him, while the other one found your waist. When you both break the kiss, he’s grinning like a total idiot, which you do in fact tell him.

•”I think you should keep the wallpaper” He finally answers, holding out his hand for you to take. “Maybe I’ll even set one myself. You know, when my phone isn’t dead.”

•And then, both of you noticing sunset had passed long ago, he walked you through the glowing city lights back to your place. (Psst, if you were cold, he’d definitely give you his jacket without a second thought.)

•Something told you he’d be your background for a long time to come. ;p

Mello:

•As fate would have it, you did end up seeing him again. You’d unknowingly befriended Matt, having no clue the two knew each other. He invites you back to his place just to chill for a while, briefly mentioning a roommate.

•”Yeah he might be around, but he’ll be totally chill, don’t worry about it.”

•So you don’t even have a second thought on it. You’re just expecting some random dude. Oh how wrong you are.

•You make eye contact with Mello as soon as you walk in and the world just stops for a second. He’s sat sideways on an armchair with his legs hanging over one of the arms, and the TV is blasting some action movie you don’t recognise, so he reaches for the remote to mute it and greet you.

•”Oh, look who it is. Never thought I’d see you again.” He smirks, and Matt’s jaw drops because he’s totally assuming the worst.

•”It’s nothing awful, Matt.” You shake your head, unable to contain a smile of your own. “We just met outside of a store one time when his bike broke down.” You take off your coat and shoes and make yourself comfortable, per Matt’s request while he sets up a video game on the TV for you all.

•Mello decides to push it a little more, making sure to point out that there was never any actual conversation, but rather you’d basically indirectly hit on him and then made an escape before any consequences could come of it. He’s not upset at all, he’s just trying to fluster you, and it’s working, evidently.

•”Maybe you’re right, but I did do one thing. Catch.” You throw him your phone, much to his confusion before you clarify. “Turn it on and look, stupid.”

•”…What the hell is this?” He snaps, as though it’s a defence mechanism. He’s lost for words.

•Matt comes up behind the chair to look and just starts totally laughing his ass off, “Aren’t you embarrassed?”

•”Nope.” That’s a lie, but you want the upper hand here. “But I did say you looked hot, didn’t I? Well, I meant it.”

•Mello’s face has turned a deep shade of crimson by now, and he’s shoving the phone into Matt’s hands, telling him to go give it back.

•Matt wishes he had popcorn right about now, it would have been perfect for this moment.

•”By the way, Matt, does pretty boy here have a name?” Both of your laughs are very much contagious to each other while Mello is racking his brain for a witty response, but alas, he has nothing. He just mutters a “Oh my fucking god” in total questioning of his life.

•”His name’s- Fuck- His name’s Mello.” Matt finally manages to spit out between wheezes.

•The noise finally dies down, and you just hear a “If you’ve got my face in your phone, you should probably have my number in it too.” Took him long enough, but a worthy result.

•Now kick his ass at this game, it’s only right.

•In this scenario I can see it as you being on the task force when L ends up having to show himself.

•L doesn’t exactly consider himself- how do I say this- the most desirable person in the world.

•(Cough, I heavily disagree though.)

•I don’t think he’d pay that much mind to said fact, but he certainly wouldn’t be expecting anyone to comment positively on his appearance, especially just like that.

•You were probably standing to the side taking a break or leaving when you thought to yourself something along the lines of, “Shit, I wasn’t expecting L to be cute-“

•And you just hear Matsuda say, “What?” in total shock.

•At which you realise you just said that out loud. Literally the first meeting and you’re already being unprofessional. You’re totally internally scolding yourself for the rest of it.

•L just kind of locks his eyes on you for a few seconds, totally blank faced and lost for words. Then he just turns back round, as if nothing ever happened. It’s not fitting for his image to give you a reaction.

•L has stopped working. You broke him bestie.

•I mean, I’m not gonna lie, he definitely finds it a little weird but…

•If you look closely, he might have a slight hint of pink dusting his cheeks. :) Don’t think he’s easy to win over, though, even if he is initially attracted to you, because he’s the furthest thing from it.

•Things might be a little awkward at these meetings now, though…

•Bonus: If you do get into a relationship further down the line, be aware that he remembers everything, this included, and will probably make a remark about it to tease you months later, when you’d forgotten about it and assumed he had too.

Light:

•This one I picture in the early days of Kira, when he’s starting college.

•There’s a rather large group gathered outside where everyone is introducing themselves to each other, including yourself. Maybe if you’re more introverted you’re standing more to the side of things?

•Light is trying to make himself fit in and look more normal, of course, but you wouldn’t have any idea about that.

•You lost yourself staring at him for a hot second, not realising how obvious it was.

•Especially when a small something that you maybe shouldn’t have said slipped out-

•He instantly looks over, catching on immediately. He’s half smirking, and there’s a glint in his eyes. He holds the gaze for a few seconds before returning to his conversation, and you quickly relax thinking you had gotten away with it.

•You wish. :’)

•He taps you on the shoulder from behind and introduces himself as normal, but he’s clearly hiding an amused expression.

•Then, at the end of your conversation adds something like, “Oh, and you’re not too bad yourself.”

•You’ve definitely got his attention now, that’s for sure. He can see you taking a liking to him and might go out of his way to pursue things further if he feels it would do him some good. Will potentially get your number the next time you meet for said reasons.

•Just uh…don’t fall for any of his shit, ‘kay?

Matsuda:

•You’d been brought in for questioning around the Kira investigation after witnessing the death of some criminal somewhere and making some sort of statement about it for the news. You weren’t any witness in particular, just a case of random selection, if you will.

•Obviously L couldn’t do it himself, and he couldn’t choose Light, who seemed like the most suitable option to the others, as he had his suspicions about him being Kira.

•Eventually, Matsuda was chosen to take on the job of doing these few interviews. Something about him being young and charismatic. Makes people feel comfortable, blah blah blah, psychology.

•And he probably would’ve made you feel comfortable! If you weren’t totally into him, that is. Stuttering and stumbling over an interview as important as this, too. What timing…

•Still, he’s smiling and reminding you that you have nothing to worry about, that they’re going to catch Kira and they’re closer than ever.

•As the interview draws to a close, he gets up and goes over to open the door for you, thanking you for your time.

•Then the room just goes silent after he hears you mutter, “Damn it, only I could be interviewed by someone so cute over something so important and mess it up.”

•Yeah, that slipped out. Oops. As if things didn’t need to get worse, huh?

•It’s obvious he heard you because he freezes up and flushes bright red, and there’s really no use in pretending that he didn’t now.

•”You think I’m cute?” Is all he (eventually) manages to say.

•And oh my god it’s two nervous wrecks-

•You just start apologising? What else could you do?

•”No, no! Don’t be sorry!” And then get this- he actually had the courage to ask you out! He’s a little too happy when he returns to join the others, who had been watching the whole thing on camera.

•”We said catch Kira, not get a date.”

Mello:

•It’s pretty late at night, but you just couldn’t sleep, so you decided to just get out for a while. Nothing major, just a run to the store, maybe you’d just grab a few snacks or something.

•As you’re leaving the store, carrying a couple of bags, a certain stranger catches your eye. He’s crouched down next to the road, and he was doing some sort of work on a motorcycle, presumably because he’d broken down.

•You subconsciously stop and stare for a few seconds, captured by him for some reason you couldn’t exactly put your finger on. One thing was for sure; he was definitely attractive. Damn.

•You must have said that last part out loud, because said stranger practically chokes on his drink after taking a sip of it and bursts out laughing. It probably came off a little mean, but that’s just his demeanour.

•He turns back to see you just kind of hovering awkwardly in that same spot and flashes a grin and rolls his eyes.

•Mello tends to keep himself to himself, so he doesn’t actually make any effort to talk to you, as flattered and amused as he is.

•Though, as you stroll past him, avoiding his eyes, he’s secretly hoping he might see you again sometime. Maybe next time you’ll have the guts to be a bit more forward, but prepare to be initially shut down if you actually ask him on a date or anything like that aside from harmless flirting. And even then, if there’s too much of that… (Jfc Mello decide what you want 😭) He’s definitely got a little bit of an internal conflict going on now.

•He really does not like to be at risk of being hurt at all, unfortunately for you.

•The next time he sees Matt, you’re the first thing he mentions in conversation, I can promise you that.

“You Make Me Feel Special!” - Various Death Note Characters

Headcanons: What type of dates would Death Note characters take their s/o on? No specific pronouns used for reader.

Characters Mentioned: Light Yagami, L Lawliet, Touta Matsuda, Misa Amane, Mihael Keehl

Category: Straight up, rot your teeth fluff.

Light:

•Fancy restaurants, very traditional, movie-like. The type to pull the move of leaving you an outfit and a note to be ready by X time. He wants it to be flashy and won’t settle for anything less. Would have an arm around you whenever you’re walking to or from the car, into the restaurant, etc.

•The other type I can see him doing are study dates, considering how academic he is himself. Will help you with anything that confuses you, asking each other questions, etc. Very chilled, imagine it with like warm ambient lighting and hot drinks in the evening. It would most likely be at his place, but he would make sure you’re comfortable and feel at home of course. If you need anything at all, he’s got it.

•L has to be very private in his personal life, so there would probably be a lot of home dates. Movie nights or binge watching TV shows with mountains of snacks are far from uncommon. You could probably persuade him to play video games with you, and he’d probably be very competitive, just quietly so.

•A lot of the time he just works near you, since it’s better company than being alone. Try and force him to take breaks, if you can. He needs it.

•You could probably just sit there talking about anything and everything into the early hours of the morning, which he appreciates seeing as there aren’t many people he’s close enough to to do this, but equally, the relationship is built quite a bit on comfortable silence.

Matsuda:

•CEO OF FUN DATES!! You will NEVER be bored with this man I swear to you. I can see him being a fan of arcade dates and camping dates especially. Wherever you are or whatever you’re doing, he throws himself into it! I can see him totally getting carried away for time and you guys wouldn’t even realise how long you’d been out for.

•No matter how casual the date, he tends to come with some sort of gift. Flowers, chocolates, something along those lines, just to see you smile that little bit extra.

•We know Matsuda loves to be on trend, and so with that said, would totally take you shopping all the time with an excuse that you have to keep up with these things, and that what’s popular is constantly changing. He’ll totally spoil you with whatever you want. You look at something for even a second too long without a word and he’s offering to buy it for you and telling you how much it would suit you, where you could wear it, etc. He would literally never be the type to get bored standing around on these dates, he thrives on them, so take however long you want.

Misa:

•Another one for shopping dates, naturally. She loves this kind of thing! She’s running round, pulling outfits together for both of you, holding clothes up to you to try and visualise how you’d look, etc.

•Concert dates! You guys would be totally in touch with each other’s likes and talk about them all of the time, and this includes music taste. Thus, it’s quite often you end up surprising each other with concert tickets.

•Not really a proper date, but she would let you on the set of anything she was filming or taking pictures for, so long as she was allowed. She’ll tell you everything that’s going on and introduce you to everyone, and they always tell you that they’ve heard so many good things already from Misa herself.

Mello:

•Say it with me; LATE 👏 NIGHT 👏 DRIVES 👏 He will literally wake you up in the middle of the night and just ask if you wanna go for a drive because he’s bored. Just your average night with him. You’re asleep? That’s stupid. He needs your company.

•Blasting music, possibly speeding, all good vibes.

•You might end up stopping for food or just straight up trespassing somewhere like in those overnight challenges. (The non staged ones, anyway, which are few and far between.)

•Riding on the back of his motorcycle, send tweet. I am a simple woman, you lot.
