Should Beck get the opportunity, he would ensure she saw everything be promised, and much more. A simple trade in his mind - not that it mattered much to him.
He had his games and there was no doubt she had her own. A push and pull that he’d eventually settle into, but for now? He was far more curious to what she could do.
Once upon a time, he had real power, but it had been stripped form him ( a majority of it ), and his number one goal was to get it back. No more sleight of hand and petty tricks - no, Mysterio was far more than that. He just had to grasp ahold of it again.
“Of course.”
A reason to why a wide grin spread across his lips as the flames danced across the tips of her fingers. He could tell there was heat there; real heat. Not something fabricated or an extensive trick of the light.
Tumblr media
“Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.”
There was far more he could say about the subject, but for now, he was going to keep a tight lid on the matter. If only due to the fact he didn’t want to ruin the moment or quite possibly get burned.
“Not many I’ve met have managed to pull such a feat as that off so easily. A gift such as yours should be used… freely. Not hidden away or….shunned.”
Tumblr media
Of the three of her sisters, Dorcas had always been the weakest, and had been for a long time. Whatever she could do, Agatha or Prudence could do better. So to see how genuinely impressed he seemed to be at such a relatively simple trick made her quite happy. She smiled up at him, at first looking genuinely delighted with the praise, then turning more amused.
“Who says it’s been shunned?” Hidden, yes. She couldn’t deny that one. Witches like her must keep themselves hidden from the eyes of mortals or risk death like back in the day. But that didn’t mean her powers were shunned at all.
“There are things you’ve never heard of, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t real. And just because we hide doesn’t mean we don’t value what gifts we’ve been given.”

There had once been a lake with a neighboring forest, a refuge for the man in his youth. As a child he would run off and play among the trees for hours on end, his mother didn’t seem to care as long as he was home before the sunset. Lips tucked upwards at such memories, even as the cruelty of reality sat in those woods always offered him a piece of heaven.
“Seems so, for once I don’t feel that tension of being watched.”
It was almost like the heavens and hell had called a truce. Each side slipping back into their respective corners of the universe, allowing the pair a moment of peace. At the very least they were letting Jacob catch his breathe and prepare for round two.
“Now, that’s something I haven’t seen done in a long while.”
Of course he was commenting on the grass whistle, he couldn’t recall doing such a trick in his own youth but the other children had. Some could make the noise sound somewhat bearable and the others created shrieking sounds that drove others to cover their ears. The wonders of youth were now lost to time.
“Big cities have some appeal to them, there’s plenty to do but there’s never any peace.”
Tumblr media
She couldn’t help but smile as he referred to her little whistle. She was a child in a time very different than this one, for all she didn’t look it. And with no family, she also had no real toys or things to entertain herself with. When she wasn’t working for the Academy in a twisted sort of payment for being taken care of, she often made a little whistle like that to make some music, or made crowns of flowers for her sisters. Silly things none of them could do these days.
“There’s too many trees, and too many buildings. The last time I was in one, I felt like I couldn’t breathe for all the things crowded around me,” she said, beginning to pluck a few more strands of grass and plait them together, if only to have something to do with her hands.
“You fight monsters, and like both cities and the dark country roads. Is there anything you’re afraid of, Mr. Angel?” she teased him gently. She wasn’t attempting to dig for any sort of weakness of his, she just liked teasing him.

“You’d think but no, it has happened twice before in my life.”
Horrible things always followed these storms of silence, replaced by unholy slaughter. Jacob could still feel the demon’s claws tearing into his flesh, the blades of hell slicing open old wounds. For each scar had a reason to be placed upon his blessed flesh. Hell still had a debt to pay to the man and he had yet to satisfy his thirst for vengeance.
“I would like to think I’m getting a break but that all depends on what your side does.”
These witches were not a part of that, they were innocent in the defilement of Jacob’s flesh. Yet, they still served the powers that had enjoyed hearing the cries of the nephilim as blade met flesh. Pale eyes twitched to the windows for a split moment, searching beyond the curtains for any figure that dared to lurk outside. Maybe part of him was hoping for Dorcas to show up.
“Or it might have something to do with your lot. Maybe I should start reading coffee grounds.”
Tumblr media
“Our side? Please, all we want is to not be hunted and killed by people like you.”
It wasn’t precisely accurate, of course. But for all their tormenting of mortal boys and playing, they rarely ever actually hurt anyone seriously. She could count on one hand the actual times they had killed someone, and they never did it to someone they didn’t believe deserved it. Usually, it was only to people who were a danger to the coven.
They may serve their Dark Lord, but they were not demons. They did not benefit by seeing the destruction of the world as some demons wished it.
Another scoff answered him. “Coffee grounds aren’t accurate. Everyone knows that.”

Agatha had been lounging on the couch in the living room, reading a book on magical history, when the man rose indignantly from the floor behind the chair. She’d caught sight of him back there earlier, and realized the truth of the sleek black cat they had brought home with them last night. At his outburst, she merely turned dark eyes to him, amusement curling the corners of her lips as she blinked slowly and calmly at him. “That wasn’t the impression you gave last night. Fickle little thing, aren’t you?” she purred.
She had half a mind to refuse to give him a blanket, but with an unhurried, casual air, she set aside her book, and held out her hand as she rose. A soft green blanket appeared in her hands and she stepped closer to him to hand it over. “What a shame.”

Dorcas knelt among the comfortable grass and the warm breeze that made the evening in the woods comfortable. She hadn’t thought anything of it, of the words that slipped from her lips. She knew about fae, of course, but she never imagined that ones might come for her.
Confusion clouded her features as she raised her head to look at the two women, her eyes widening, somewhere between wondering and fearful as they suddenly appeared before her. “I... No, they’re not. They don’t have much patience for one without a family, and who is not cruel like them,” she answered, frowning just a touch.

“Well, if you were a little upset. I could cheer you up, after a nap. Or during,” Dorcas said, with a little purr, sliding up against her sister, one arm wrapping around the other woman’s waist.
She really wasn’t up to much physically. But she’d be happy to please her sister in their dreams, before they went to visit Prudence.
Agatha smiled faintly at her sister’s offer, knowing it was for herself as well as for Agatha. Her arm settled around Dorcas’ shoulders as the other leaned into her side, turning her head to press a kiss to her red hair. “Save your strength for finding and speaking to Prudence. She may make it difficult.”

Agatha frowned at him, raising her chin despite the weight of the collar around her throat. She knelt, otherwise naked, glaring up at her pack leader.
“You know I’m going to make you regret this, don’t you?”
Even as she said it, a shiver of arousal ran through her.
