❝ ‘course i do. it’s really NOT that hard. see a walker , aim & shoot . . . right ? ❞ though his words may drip with childish sarcasm , they came out serious . shane would NEVER let him go if he thought it was a joke. it wasn’t. carl wanted to help the group more , not sit on the sidelines & feel useless ; ANOTHER MOUTH TO FEED . . . another person to protect . his mother hated the idea of carl using a gun , considering it hadn’t been long ago that he had been shot by one. . . . but he wasn’t AFRAID of it like she would hope him to be . he was a survivor , just like everyone in the group & would do his part to protect them . . . even when he couldn’t protect sophia . ❝ i just wish my dad would stop treating me like some child. i’m not a kid anymore . . . i haven’t been for a long time . ❞

❛❛ 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓'𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐈𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐈𝐓. ❜❜ he nodded. ❛❛ but unless there’s no other option, or unless i tell you to shoot, you let me deal with the walkers, okay? ❜❜ there was always gonna be some hesitation about whether carl was ready to start partaking in more risky tasks, like going out where walkers might show up, where he might have to use a gun in an uncontrolled environment, and so on. but he wasn’t going to LEARN how to take care of himself otherwise, and the sooner he did, the better. shane knew lori wasn’t too happy about the thought, but rick seemed to be at least somewhat on the same page as him, having agreed to let carl learn how to shoot, and even let the boy carry a gun on him.

now, of course, if shane took carl with him out there, he was going to be there every step of the way to keep him SAFE, and to make sure he took things seriously, or they’d head straight back, and he’s sure carl knew that, too. he was a smart kid.

ACTIVITY UPDATE. i guess this means i’m gonna have to make an “official” post about this. so, turns out, i’m going back to school on aug 17th, trying to finally re-start my attempt at finishing my education after dropping out several times due to my mental health. anyway, this means i’m going from having nothing on my agenda, to suddenly having classes every monday through friday from i’m guessing around 8am-4pm, so my activity will probably be affected a bit by this?? probably not too much since i still have no social life lol, but just a heads up that my activity might become a little more slow and selective somewhere down the line.

the tang taste of fright fills her lungs with each bang on the door. one… two. three. long, bony fingers desperately scrape, blood drying the tips, crusted and stained covered like a dull brown. . he said ‘ we’, right? as in, both of them? there was no real time to consider: either get eaten by the troupe of undead, or risk getting killed by a lone stranger. the odds were against her either way. at least if they made it out of here, there was a better chance with another human; muertos couldn’t be reasoned with.

god, he hopes he won’t regret this. she didn’t seem to be with anyone, in fact, she seemed like she wasn’t even carrying any proper weapons on her, but appearances could be deceiving.

hearing a loud BANG behind them that could only mean the walkers had managed to force the door open and was now coming after them, shane quickly led the way up the stairs, across the hall and over to the window at the other side of the small building, the chorus of the undead growing louder by the minute. ❛❛ over here. there’s a ladder. ❜❜ quickly opening the window, he gestures for her to go. ❛❛ go on. i’ll cover you. just hurry. ❜❜
