Spider-Man tried to even out her breathing.
It’s not that she was “un-athletic” or anything.
It’s just there was a hot redhead wrapped around her.
And not like in a sexual way so get your head out of the gutter.
More of a “I’m currently trying to save this chick” kind of way.
She abruptly landed on the side pavement, keeping her eyes focused forward as she waited patiently for the hot redhead to hop off.
But after a few moments had passed with zero movement, Spider-Man awkwardly cleared her throat. “Uhh...”
The redhead, startled, bounced up from her position, her legs unwrapping themselves from the hero's waist before landing onto the ground.
“I uh-” She chewed her lip, releasing her arms from around Spider-Man's neck. “Thanks.”
Nodding, Spider-Man raised her hand, “No problem.” And tip-toeing back few feet she glanced around, “Are you okay?” She then asked the girl.
“Yeah.”
“Great.” Taking a step around the redhead, Spider-Man pointed towards the street, “I need to get going. Stay safe!” She shouted while slinging a web towards the nearest building.
XxX
What even was that? Beca asked herself, mindlessly kicking at the pavement as she walked towards her house.
Shaking her head, she bundled through the front door.
“I’m home!” She called out only to receive no answer. “Go figure.”
Grabbing a bite to eat from the fridge, she slouched into the couch in the main room. Switching on the TV, she rolled her eyes as it showed herself saving a few pedestrians.
“Spider-Man saves the day,” She read out. Taking a bite from her food, she quickly changed the channel, “Spider-Man wouldn’t need to if the police in this city actually did their job.”
In the house beside the brunette’s, sat Chloe Beale. Who was also watching the news regarding Spider-Man. The redhead held a beaming grin on her face.
She felt her phone buzz and picking it up, she read over the message.
Aubrey: What do you mean Spider-Man saved you?
Aubrey: And first of all, are you okay?
Rolling her eyes at her friend, Chloe typed back a reply.
Chloe: Of course, I'm okay Bree. I mean, I can’t say the same if a certain hero hadn’t had been there
Aubrey: don’t say things like that Chloe
Chloe: but I'm totes fine.
Aubrey: What happened though?
Chloe: I was crossing the street when some truck came my way. Spiderman was chasing them I think, and just as it was about to hit me I was swept of my feet, literally by Spiderman.
Aubrey: then what happened?
Chloe: It’s all a bit of a daze but I think she went back to stopping the truck
Aubrey: I’m just glad you’re still alive. Can’t have my best friend dying on me. Not when exams are coming up.
Chloe: you’re a nerd
Aubrey: So are you
Chloe: shut up!
Giggling from the conversation, Chloe stood from her bed. Making her way over to her desk -which was by the window- she eased into the chair. As she waited for her laptop to bootup, she couldn’t help but let her eyes wander over to her neighbours window.
A smirk slowly crept onto her face as she caught a glance of Beca Mitchell swinging around on her own desk chair.
She then let out a loud laugh as Beca nearly fell off the thing from swinging too hard.
As Beca attempted to fix herself, she caught a glance of her redheaded neighbour, Chloe Beale, watching her from her window.
Slightly startled, Beca raised her hand to send a wave towards the girl, causing a giggle to escape the redhead.
Inwardly rolling her eyes at herself, Beca cursed.
“Still awkward as ever.” She mumbled low. “Seems it doesn’t matter if you wear a mask or not.”
Sneaking a glance back over to the girl, Beca was relieved to find that Chloe was now focusing on her laptop.
Or so she thought.
Keeping her head low, Chloe continued to peak over her laptop screen to look at the girl.
And yeah, it may be slightly stalkerish of her but come on... It’s not like Chloe didn’t have a crush on Beca Mitchell.
But as a few moments passed, Chloe couldn’t help but squint as she noticed Beca stand from the desk and make her way to the side. As the brunette made an appearance by the window again, Chloe’s eyes slightly widened from the article of clothing she held in her hands.
Bright red.
White eyes.
No way.
XxX
The following day, Chloe continued to very subtly watch the brunette.
She’s not a stalker.... she swears.
But sitting in gym class, Chloe and her friends- Aubrey, Jessica and Ashley- found themselves on the topic of superhero’s (for whatever reason).
“If you had to be with an Avenger, which one would it be?” Jessica asked as she watched her fellow classmates do push-ups.
“What kind of question even is that?” Aubrey questioned back, crossing one leg over the other.
“A relevant one.” The other blonde retorted. “I’d choose... Captain America.” She followed.
“Why him?” Ashely quizzed.
“He just seems so nice,” Jessica answered. “And he’s pretty strong.”
“I bet Aubrey would choose Tony Stark,” Chloe chimed in with a smirk, watching as Aubrey turned to her with a horrified look on her face.
“Absolutely not!” She exclaimed.  “He’s a billionaire playboy who only cares about himself.” She further explained, scrunching her face up.
“I was just saying. He’s pretty smart up there,” The redhead said, tapping the top of her head. “Something you’d like.”
“Dr. Banner is also smart,” Aubrey said.
“Ohhh!” Ashley grinned, “Looks like Aubrey has a crush on a certain doctor.”
“What- no!” Aubrey frowned, “I never said that!”
“Sure, sure...” Chloe teased, turning to face her classmates. Her eyes landed on a particular brunette who was killing it with the push-ups and she couldn’t help but notice how the muscles on her biceps would flex every time she’d lower to the ground.
“At least I’m not crushing on a certain masked hero.”
“Wait, what?” Chloe suddenly snapped her head back towards Aubrey.
“Oh, don’t think I don’t know about your little crush on Spider-Man, Chlo-”
And in that moment from across the gym, a certain Spidey's ears perked up.
“You have a crush on him?” Jessica asked, frowning, “You don’t even know what he looks like!” She exclaimed. “Could be a pervy old man for all you know-”
“She isn’t.” Chloe chimed in, interrupting the blonde. And shrugging, she continued, “I don’t know. She just seems like a total mystery.”
Feeling a pinch on her arm, Beca paused her push-ups to glance over at Stacie who sat beside her, a science book in hand. “Hear that, Spidey?” She smirked, “Red has a crush on you.”
“No.” Beca said, “She has a crush on Spider-Man.” She corrected.
“Aka, you.”
“Aka, not really me...” Beca said, beginning her push-ups again. “Besides, if she found out that it was me, she’d freak out.”
“And why’s that?” Stacie asked, flipping over to the next page.
“Because... I’m a girl. A-and she’s straight.” She stumbled over her words.
“No, she’s not.”
“What?”
“She’s so not straight.”
Pausing again, Beca leaned onto her knees, “What are you on about?” She asked, staring down her friend.
“Little red has been watching at you for a solid 5 minutes.”
“Wait, wha-” Twisting her head over, Beca glanced towards the girl in question and low and behold, Chloe suddenly gazed away.
Stacie smirked from above her book as she watched a smile form on the brunette’s face. And with a mischievous grin, she silently leaned over, ready to whack Beca with her science book. But just before it could connect with her, Beca’s hand shot out to the side, grabbing it with ease.
“Nice try, Stace.” Beca said, tossing the book at her, “But you’re still too slow.”
XxX
While laying on her bed, Beca sighed loudly.
God, did she hate homework.
Her English textbooks were sprawled out in front of her as she helplessly attempted to write an essay on Shakespeare.
Sighing once again, she found herself clicking onto YouTube and then somehow, she began endlessly watching videos on the NYC alien invasion that happened a few years back.
She wasn’t procrastinating.
Nope.
Not at all...
What a whack job of a world, she thought as she watched Iron Man fall out of a portal to space in the sky.
Suddenly a notification popped up from her opened Facebook tab. Clicking on it, she saw a red “1” by the massager section.
Chloe Beale: Hi neighbour!
Furrowing her brows, Beca tipped her head in confusion as she read over the message. Blinking a few times, she typed by a reply.
Beca Mitchell:  Hey?
Chloe Beale is typing...
Chloe Beale: Look outside
“Wha-” Glancing up, Beca’s eyes gazed out her window towards the one opposite. She couldn’t help but chuckle as her eyes landed on a redhead holding a sign.
It was a “science” themed poster.
Beca Mitchell is typing...
Beca Mitchell: Very artistic. What’s the occasion?
Chloe Beale: Mr. Rafferty thinks a bunch of seniors should participate in arts and crafts.
Beca Mitchell: Yikes
Beca Mitchell: Not that I don’t love your art skills, but why did you decide to show me?
Chloe Beale is typing...
Chloe Beale: I wanted to get your opinion on it.
Chloe Beale: I also just needed an excuse to talk to you
Beca Mitchell: O...kay...
Beca Mitchell: Is there like something you need or?
Chloe Beale: No, I just figured since we’ve been living beside each other for years now, that it’s finally time
Beca Mitchell: ...for?
Chloe Beale: Us to be friends
Chloe Beale: FAST FRIENDS
Beca Mitchell: I feel like I should be worried
Beca Mitchell: Should I be worried?
Chloe Beale: Nope 😉
Beca Mitchell: Okay, I definitely feel like I should be worried.
Ignoring the message completely, the redhead typed,
Chloe Beale: So hey, there’s this party happening this weekend that I’m going too
Beca Mitchell: Have fun
Chloe Beale: You should come
Beca Mitchell: Ehhhhh
Chloe Beale: Come onnnn!! It’ll be fun
Beca Mitchell: Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Chloe Beale: Pweaseeee
Beca Mitchell: I’ll think about it
Chloe Beale: Yay!
Chloe Beale: It’s a party at Tom’s house
Beca Mitchell: Yeah, you’re gonna have to be a little more specific with that
Chloe Beale: Tom Thompson
Beca Mitchell: What a name
Beca Mitchell: But like I said... I’ll think about it
Chloe Beale: See you there, Beca Mitchell
XxX
Stacie: Get dressed, I’ll be at yours in 30
Beca: What why?
Stacie: There’s a party at Tom Thompson’s tonight. And you’re coming with me to it
Beca: But whyyyyy
Stacie: Because you’re my best friend. And best friends support each other
Beca: I hate you
Stacie: No you don’t!
Stacie: Be ready
Beca: Fine see you soon
Sighing Beca found herself staring forward.
“Go figure.”
Slugging her way towards her room, she quickly pulled open the door to her closet. “Just when I decided on not going...” She mumbled to herself as she grabbed a few pieces of clothing.
Black jeans? Check.
Grey hoodie? Check.
Leather jacket? Chec- wait.
“Where is it?” She asked aloud as she searched the room. Furrowing her brows as her eyes flickered across the surroundings, they suddenly rose as she glanced towards the ceiling to find the article stuck via her web fluid. “What in the world...”
Quickly taking hold of the jacket, and wiping away the goo fluid, (gross), she shrugged it on before grabbing her backpack.
In that moment, a car’s horn beeped outside. Opening the window in her room, she quickly hopped down before making her way towards Stacie.
“Get in loser!”
XxX
“Stacie, I said no!” Beca said, irritated. And pushing away the alcoholic drink, she shook her head. “You know why I can’t drink this.”
“Oh, come on!” Stacie exclaimed, throwing an arm around her friend’s shoulder. “Everyone needs a break from time to time, even Spider-Mannn!” She sang out.
Whacking the taller girl in the stomach, Beca twisted around, “Would you keep it down!” She hissed.
“Oh Bec,” She patted the girl on the cheek, “You worry too much.”
Shrugging the hand off, Beca moved away from her, “I’m going to get some air.”
“Remember to lighten up.”
You dragged me here, Beca thought while walking her way towards the back door. Feeling the fresh air hit her face, Beca let out a breath.
God did she hate high school parties.
Not that she’s been to them much. But from the amount that she has attended, it’s safe to say she’s not a fan.
Taking out her phone, she clicked onto the police radio app that she found. It kept her up to date on all thing's crime related within the city.
Reading over the list, she noticed that most- if not all- crimes had been taken care off in the past 10 minutes.
Taking out her earphones, Beca plugged them into the phone before easing them gently into her ears. She listened to the sound of the officers announcing new crimes.
“Looks like you decided to show up after all.” Suddenly came a cheery voice beside her.
Tipping her head, Beca nodded, “I guess.” She shrugged.
“What are you listening to?” Chloe questioned leaning on the wall beside them.
“Oh, you know...” Beca mirrored her, “Music.”
“Very specific.” Chloe teased with a grin.
“Well, I try.”
“Enjoying the party so far?” Chloe asked, changing the subject.
“Eh...” With a small shrug, Beca glanced around her surroundings, “It’s alright, I guess.”
“Are you kidding?” Chloe laughed, making Beca turn back to her, “It’s terrible.” Taking a sip of her drink, she continued, “I mean it’s Tom Thompson for god’s sake! This place is just crawling with horny teenage boys.”
Chuckling, Beca tipped her head with a smirk, “Can’t argue there.”
“So why are you here, Miss Mitchell?” Chloe asked. “Besides wanting to see me.”
Rolling her eyes, Beca gave a fake smile. Clearing her throat, she answered, “My best friend dragged my ass to this.”
“And where’s she now?”
“Getting her own ass drunk.”
“Charming,” Chloe giggled. “Hey!” Standing up straight, she grabbed onto Beca’s arm, startling the girl. “We should get out of here.” She suggested.
Beca choked on the air around her.
“W-what?”
“Like leave.” Chloe clarified. “Head to a diner or something.” She further explained. “Maybe grab a coffee or see a movie, anything to just get away-”
“All units report. Gang shoot out west side of Barden Avenue. Reported 1 fatality, 2 civilians injured-”
“So, what do you say?”
Beca’s ears perked up from the sirens echoing in the distance. They got closer and closer until they suddenly passed through the street, she was in. The red and blue lights brightened the backyard, shining onto the surroundings.
“I-” Taking a few steps back, Beca pulled her backpack into herself, “I’m sorry, I have to go.”
“Oh-” Chloe said, her face falling. “...okay.”
Grimacing, Beca continued her way back. “Rain check on that though?” She asked, hopeful.
Chloe took a step forward, “Y-yeah,” Clearing her throat, she nodded, “Yeah.”
“Awesome.” And with that, Beca turned in place quickly dashing behind the side of the house.
XxX
“Freeze!” The police officer shouted, “Down on the ground!” He demanded. “Now!”
“Seriously?” Spider-Man asked. “I just took down all of these guys and this is what you say to me?”
“I said down on the ground!”
“Dude!”
“NOW!”
“I just did your job and that-” Leaping into the air, Spider-Man quickly webbed up the gun the officer was aiming at her, “-that is how you repay me?” She asked landing back on two feet. The police officer raised his hands into the air, making her chuckle. “Whatever, man...” She said, tossing the gun behind her.
XxX
Sitting on top of the clock tower, Beca looked out upon the city.
It was beautiful at night, she thought.
Beca had since ripped the mask from her face and was dangling off the edge as she attempted to clear her mind.
Her brows then furrowed hearing a buzz come from within her backpack.
Stacie Conrad is calling...
“Hello?”
“Beca, where are you!?”
“On top of a very tall building.”
“Beca.”
Sighing, Beca tapped her hand along the edge of the roof, “I told you drinking was a bad idea.”
“What happened?”
“Gang shoot out-”
“Are you okay? Did you get hurt, do you need a doct-”
“Dude, I’m fine.”
“Well... okay...”
“You know... for someone at a party, you don’t sound very drunk.”
“Well when you realize your best friend is missing, you leave said party in hopes of finding her.”
Beca couldn’t help but smile. “Thanks, Stace. But for real, I’m fine.”
“If you say so.”
“Don’t worry, Stacie.”
“You know I’ll always worry. You’re my best friend Beca, basically a sister at this point, worrying will always be a thing when it comes to you.”
“Thanks.” Beca casted her eyes out towards the city, “I’ll see you tomorrow, Stace.”
XxX
Chloe Beale is typing...
Chloe Beale: Is everything okay? I mean you ran off pretty fast last night
Beca Mitchell is typing...
Beca Mitchell: Oh yeah... Sorry about that. I wasn’t feeling very well.
Chloe Beale: That sucks :( I hope you’re feeling better now
Beca Mitchell: Still a little under the weather, but I’ll live
Beca Mitchell: I’m sorry for basically brushing you off last night
Chloe Beale: Totes fine. You were sick
Beca Mitchell: How’s tomorrow sound for that rain check?
Chloe Beale: Won’t you still feel sick?
Beca Mitchell: Doubt it
Beca Mitchell: So I’ll pick you up?
Chloe Beale: We live right by each other
Beca Mitchell: I’m trying to be cliché here, Beale
Chloe Beale: aww, you’re cute
Beca Mitchell: adios red
XxX
Beca: Dude help
Stacie: What’s wrong?
Beca: I may, but probably not, have just asked Chloe Beale out
Stacie: Aww, that’s cute
Beca: Not helping
Beca: What do I do?
Stacie: Go see a movie
Beca: ew no
Stacie: Take her out for dinner
Beca: That’s too boring
Beca: wait
Stacie: What?
Beca: What if this is just us hanging out as friends
Stacie: …
Stacie: I thought you said you asked her out?
Beca: I think I did...
Beca: Aw fuck. Maybe I didn’t
Stacie: This is awkward
Beca: I hate you
Stacie: Just ask her Beca
Beca: No, I cant just ask her!
Stacie: Why not?
Beca: Because she’s chloe!
Stacie: You know. You’re useless at answering these questions
Beca: Shut up
Stacie: Look...just go do something fun with her. There’s a carnival going on this weekend isn’t there? Just bring her there. Take my car if you really need to
Beca: Really? You’re a life saver Stace
Beca: Thanks
Stacie: Don’t mention it, it’s what I’m here for
XxX
Pulling up at the sidewalk, Beca shut off the engine.
God, what would she do without her best friend?
Hopping out of the car, she made her way towards the Beale household and stopping just by the front door, she gently tapped on the wooden frame.
Chloe came bundling down the stairs as she heard the three taps from the front door. Beca had messaged her earlier in the day saying that she’d pick her up around 6.
Safe to say the redhead was excited.
Like really excited.
And opening the door, she beamed wide at the sight of the brunette, all in her leather jacket glory.
“Hey there.” The younger of them greeted, somewhat shyly.
“Hi.” Chloe smiled, taking a step outside. Shutting the door behind her, she tipped her head, “All ready to go?”
“Uh, yeah,” Beca replied, clearing her throat. As they reached Stacie’s car, Beca found herself holding the door open for Chloe.
Chloe inwardly swooned at the small but charming gesture and whispering a grateful ‘thank you,’ made her way into the passenger seat.
Shutting the door after her, Beca made herself comfortable in the driver's seat.
“Nice car.” Chloe was the first to speak.
“It’s Stacie’s,” Beca replied.
“Stacie’s your best friend, right?”
“Yeah.” The brunette answered as she booted up the car. “Known her since I was a kid.”
“That’s nice.” Chloe smiled. “It kinda reminds me of Aubrey and I.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Uh huh,” Chloe nodded, “Bree and I grew up together. It was pretty much inevitable. Her mom and my mom were close friends.” She explained. “So, where are we going?” She asked, deciding to change the subject.
“That carnival that seems to be going on,” Beca said, “Thought it would be a cool thing to check out before it heads outta town.” She glanced over once stopped at a red light to gauge the girl's reaction.
“Oh yay!” Chloe glee’d, “I’ve been meaning to go to this!” She smiled.
Beca inwardly cheered.
Thanks Stacie.
“I was at this last year,” Chloe said, “There’s this Ferris wheel that we should totes check out.”
“Sounds good.”
“Wait, you’re not scared of heights, are you?” Chloe suddenly asked. It was a genuine question but the redhead held a certain motive behind it.
If you get what she’s saying.
Scoffing, Beca smirked turning to face her briefly, “Pfft. Me scared?” Chuckling, she shifted into a new gear, “Nah.”
Chloe’s eyebrow twitched upwards from the answer and she smirked.
“Good to know...”
Reaching their destination, Beca once again found herself holding the passenger door open for Chloe.
She didn’t like mean too.
It’s just... she was raised to be a polite kid.
At least that’s what she told herself.
Mumbling a thank you to the girl, Chloe hopped out of the car. And turning to Beca, she watched as she locked the car before looking at her.
“So, since you know more about all of this,” The brunette began, shoving her hands into her pockets, “Where do you think we should start?”
Feeling a smile form on her face, Chloe looped her arm through Beca’s, “I thought you’d never ask.” She glee’d dragging her towards the entrance.
Beca could only watch her curiously.
She eventually broke out into a grin seeing the child-like wonder upon the girl's face as her eyes flickered across the range of amusements on display.
Somehow, they ended up outside the stand to a shootout game.
“Wanna give this a go?” Beca asked.
Nodding, Chloe stepped forward to speak with the man behind the stand.
She found herself being stepped aside as Beca reached forward. “How much?” She asked him.
“5 dollars for 3 tries,” He said, gently smiling down at them, raising three fingers as he did so.
Shrugging, Beca reached into her pocket and grabbing her wallet, handed the money to the man.
He went behind him and grasped the toy gun and leaning over handed it to Beca, “Here you go.”
Holding the toy out to Chloe, Beca bobbed her head in the direction of the stand.
“No, no, you paid,” Chloe said, only for Beca to shake her head and place the toy in her possession.
“Don’t worry about it, Red.“
Feeling a small blush arise on her cheeks, Chloe lowered her head as she made her way closer.
“3 tries,” The man began, “If you hit three cans, you win a prize,” He explained. “Go whenever you’re ready."
“Okay...” Bringing the toy gun up, Chloe tucked it in close to her chest. She levelled out her breathing before taking the first shot.
“Yay!” She cheered watching as a can fell over.
“One down!” The older man called out from the side.
And Beca smiled as she watched Chloe knock down a second can.
“Two down, one to go!”
Feeling herself become slightly nervous, Chloe brought the gun back close. Squinting as she aimed it towards the remaining can, she breathed in slowly and shutting her eyes took the shot.
Beca smirked.
“Looks like we have a winner today!” The man said causing her to snap open her eyes. In front were three cans perfectly fallen over.
“Oh my god,” She grinned in shock, turning to Beca, “I did it!”
“Yeah you did.” Beca grinned back. Tipping her head, she gestured towards the prize stand, “Go pick something.”
Chloe flickered her eyes along the range of prizes offered. She had her mind set on picking one of the cuddly bears, but then she caught glance at the obnoxiously pink sunglasses.
Pointing at the glasses, she quickly looked over her shoulder to see Beca leaning against the amusement stand, staring down at her phone.
Chloe smirked.
“Thank you,” She said grabbing the glasses. Skipping towards the brunette, she hid them behind her back.
Hearing the footsteps, Beca shoved her phone into her pocket, “Hey there,” She grinned at the girl. Suddenly her eyebrows furrowed. “Where’s your prize?”
"Right here!” Chloe bounced, bringing the glasses up into Beca’s view. The brunette stared curiously, a smirk growing on her face.
“Nice pick.”
“It’s for you.”
Beca’s smirk fell.
“Say what now?”
“Yep,” Chloe beamed, taking a few steps towards her. “All yours.” She said, lifting the glasses up and placing them gently on the brunette’s face. “To add a little colour to your outfit.” She teased with a wink.
“Why would you do this to me?” Beca fake whined.
“Oh, come on!” Chloe giggled, “It suits you!”
“I look ridiculous!”
“Aw, you look cute!” Chloe glee’d, reaching out to pinch Beca’s cheek, “You’re like a little adorable munchkin.”
Beca could only sigh.
“Oh!” Chloe chimed, grabbing out her phone, “Come here.”
“No.” Beca deadpanned. When Chloe threw out a pout and puppy dog eyes, Beca rolled her own eyes before standing beside the girl.
Chloe threw an arm over her shoulders, using her other hand to hold out her phone. “Smile!” She called out to Beca, unexpectantly leaning in to lay a kiss on the smaller girl’s cheek before taking the picture.
Beca was caught off guard by the gesture.
But that didn’t mean her deadpan expression in the picture changed.
Nope. Beca was stone cold in it.
The brunette watched Chloe type furiously into her phone, a smirk on her face while doing so. Suddenly Beca’s own phone buzzed in her pocket.
“Oh, I wonder what this is?” She asked aloud, raising an eyebrow as Chloe stared on, trying to keep a straight face.
Beca sighed reading over it.
chloebeale
Look at this adorable little munchkin with her pink sunglasses! @becasbeats is so damn cute
becasbeats I hate you
“Aw, no you don’t Becs.” Chloe teased with a light tap on the arm.
“Yeah, I do.” The girl said, glancing away from her. “You just ruined my reputation, Beale.”
“Oh honey,” Chloe looped her arm through Beca’s, “Your rep was never there to begin with.” She laughed. Pulling Beca along, she turned to her, “To make it up to you, I’ll let you choose where to go next.”
“How generous of you.”
XxX
“You’re really keeping to this cliché, aren’t you?” Chloe found herself asking with an amused smile, as she watched the young man close down the door to the Ferris wheel cart.
“It’s unintentional,” Beca replied, sitting back in the chair.
“Sure, sure.” Chloe scooted closer. She jumped as the Ferris shifted forward making Beca chuckle. “Jerk,” She whacked the girl on the arm, using it as an excuse to move even closer to her.
Like for real.
She might as well be on Beca’s lap at this point.
...not that it’s bothering the brunette or anything.
Feeling her arm trapped under Chloe, Beca brought it up and over to rest on the back of the cart.
“This is nice.” Chloe announced as the cart slowly moved its way up.
Sighing in content as she watched the sunset come into view, “Yeah,” Beca replied.
After a few moments passed by, Beca found herself slowly running her hand along the redhead’s arm. Choosing not to mention it, she just let things be.
“I was wondering.” Chloe spoke breaking the silence.
“Hmm?”
“Is this a date?”
Pausing her movements, Beca tensed up. “Uh...”
“It’s totes fine if it isn’t,” Chloe tried to clarify, sitting up to face the other girl, “I mean, we can forget I ever asked-”
“It’s only if you want it to be.” Beca then interrupted, gazing towards her. “I mean...” Sighing, she glanced away, “do you think this is a date?” She asked, rubbing the back of her neck.
“When you asked, I assumed it was.” Chloe answered.
“How’d you feel about that?” Beca dared to ask.
Pausing for a few seconds, Chloe nodded, “Happy.” she replied, a slow smile creeping onto her face.
“Really?”
“Yeah.” She grinned, scooting closer again, “Really.”
“Just to be clear,” Beca said, leaning back again, “This is a date.”
Not answering, but inwardly cheering, the redhead beside Beca leaned ever so gently forward to lay her head on the brunette’s shoulder.
The pair continued their gaze forward on the sunset facing them. Beca was content, and so was Chloe.
But contentment doesn’t last for long, does it?
The younger of the two felt her ears perk up causing her to stiffen.
“Everything okay?” Chloe asked, concerned, picking up on her stiffness.
“Uh...” Pulling back from their embrace, Beca leaned over the cart to catch a glance behind them. She squinted as she noticed a dark figure vastly approaching the amusement park, letting out a sound she could only describe as cackling.
Suddenly the dark figure swooped by the Ferris wheel, hysterically laughing as they threw something from their right hand.
In these moments, Beca noticed that the figure hid their identity through a green mask, had long light hair and was on some kind of glider.
Her attention was then brought to the device that currently was centred on the Ferris wheel, with a timer counting down from 3 minutes.
“Oh shit...”
“Beca?” Chloe’s voice interrupted her thoughts. “W-what’s going on?” She asked and Beca could hear the fear in her voice, if the tremble was anything to go by.
Tapping at the edge of the cart, Beca’s eyes flickered between Chloe and the device. “Fuck...” She muttered. Suddenly she sat up, and pointed towards the sky. “Hey look!” She said, “There!”
This momentarily caught Chloe’s attention as she furrowed her brows casting a glance to the sky, “What... Bec-” Just as she turned to face the brunette, she was nowhere to be seen.
“Beca?!”
Suddenly in the distance was the cackling laugh of the dark, masked figure causing Chloe to almost jump out of her skin.
Beca quickly grabbed her backpack from the boot of Stacie’s car, ripping the mask from it, she quickly tore off her clothes to reveal her Spider-Man suit.
“Oh, you son of a bitch!” She cursed as her skinny jeans got stuck halfway down her legs. “YES!” She glee’d as they finally came off, and dashing her way towards the Ferris wheel, she pulled on the mask.
While this was going down, Chloe sat stunned.
The masked figure had found itself in front of her cart.
“What do you want?” The redhead found herself asking, sounding much more confident than she actually was.
All the figure did was laugh.
The laughing quickly faded as it’s gaze snapped to the side.
“NO!” The figure growled before zooming away on its glider.
Chloe scooted over to the edge of the cart to follow its line of sight and when she did, she saw Spider-Man tugging at some kind of timed device. But the figure approached the hero behind making Chloe call out, “Spider-Man, watch out!”
Beca heard Chloe’s voice call out and with that, she dived backwards, flipping over the masked figure who smashed right into the device. Both Spider-Man and the villain glanced at the timer, and to the pleasure of the latter, changed from 1 minute and 43 seconds to 43 seconds.
“Oh, come on!” Spider-Man complained, her eyes widening under the mask.
The masked figure cackled once again before dashing at her, they grabbed Spider-Man by the neck, laughing manically at them before delivering a solid punch to her face.
Just as she saw another fist fly at her, Beca swooped her hand up, catching it. Smashing her head forward, she delivered a headbutt to the figures face. She groaned as she connected with a metal material. But not being deterred, she kicked the figure’s kneecap making them drop their hand from her neck.
As she began to freefall, she webbed her way onto the top of one of the carts and before the figure could fly away, she shot a few dozen webs into the back of the glider’s engine.
The figure’s glider began to misfunction and collided into the nearby river next to the carnival.
Beca’s breath evened out, but not for long as her eyes fell onto the timer.
10 seconds.
Her eyes widened as she scrambled her way up the carts to reach the device. Grasping at every straw to try make it. Her hand gripped the last railing before it landed on the bomb. And using all her strength began to detach it from the centre.
In an instant, she scurried her eyes across her surroundings for a place to burry it, the only logical place being was the river.
3...
So, leaping forward, as far as she could, she threw the device.
2...
And watched as it travelled into the middle of the river.
1...
Before turning into an explosion of water.
Beca found herself falling face first onto the grassy ground surrounding the river. But not caring about the pain, she sat up on her knees, holding onto her mid-section while breathing heavily. Her eyes followed the explosion and she sighed in relief as she saw that no one was hurt.
Shutting her eyes for a few moments, she took in everything that happened. Safe to say her eyes burst back open once she remembered a certain redhead.
Chloe sat unmoving on the cart, only registering what happened when a young man was calling out to her. Looking at him, she found that they were back on the ground.
Scuttering out, she found her eyes flickering around in search of Beca.
She had a gut feeling of where the girl went.
Not finding her anywhere, Chloe decided to make her way back to the car. Nearing the vehicle, she noticed that Beca was fast walking towards her.
The brunette slowed the pace, once locking eyes with the redhead.
Grimacing, she raised a hand, “Hi...” She said weakly.
Shaking her head, Chloe shoved past, choosing to get in the passenger seat.
Beca was frozen on the spot, “Dammit.”
Twisting in place, she made her way into the driver’s seat.
“I’m sorry-”
“Don’t.” Chloe interrupted, annoyed. The girl wasn’t too sure why she was annoyed, she just was. “Where did you go?” She found herself suddenly asking as Beca booted up the car.
“I uh...” Awkwardly clearing her throat, Beca casted a glance in the rear-view mirror and winced. There was a nasty cut on her bottom lip.
“You left me.” Chloe said.
“I know.” Beca sighed, pulling out of the parking lot. “I’m sorry.”
“Where did you go?” Chloe tried again, turning to face her. “And why is your lip bleeding?”
Scratching the back of her neck, Beca lolled over her words, “It’s... complicated.”
“Bullshit, Beca.”
“Look! It is, what else do you want me to say, Chlo-”
“I don’t know, how about the fact that you’re Spider-Man?”
Pausing, Beca stalled. Her hands still upon the driver's wheel and she registered what the girl said.
“W-what?” Is how she responded.
Scoffing, Chloe faced forward, “It’s obvious, isn’t it?” She said waving her hands around, “You leave me, while we’re suspended in the air, I might add, and then you come back with a bloodied lip!"
“I could’ve tripped for all you know!” Beca tried to defend but even she could admit, that was pretty weak.
“Don’t lie, Beca.”
Shaking her head, Beca sighed.
“Fine.”
Chloe glanced back towards her.
“I am Spider-Man.” Beca confirmed.
XxX
Beca drove the car up to the sidewalk, pulling over she knocked the engine off.
“Thanks for-” Chloe went to say from her passenger seat but was interrupted by Beca, who lifted a hand up.
“Don’t mention it.”
After the confirmation that Beca was indeed Spider-Man, the two girls sat in an awkward silence as they waited the ride out. The sun had set since the incident at the park, leaving them in darkness, the only light coming from the orange street lights, shining through the car window.
“I’m sorry.” Beca suddenly said, her gaze on the steering wheel. “I shouldn’t have just left you in that cart on your own, I should’ve told you then and there who I was.” She added. With the shake of her head, she gazed out towards the houses on the street, “You could’ve got hurt. But... I couldn’t stay, you saw that explosive, if I had have stayed put then-” Taking a breath, she looked forward, “I don’t know what could have happened.”
Chloe sat in silence, listening to the girl's words. She felt terrible about being snappy earlier. She was in shock. Hadn’t fully registered what had happened. But still... that doesn’t change that she was acting bitchy about it.
“You don’t have to explain yourself, Bec.” She said, reaching out to place a comforting hand on the girl’s arm. Gazing over towards Chloe, Beca lightly nodded. “I understand why you had to leave,” Chloe continued, “So don’t beat yourself up over it. You were doing what was right and I was acting bitchy about it. I was still in shock.”
“It’s okay.” Beca said.
“Besides all that,” Chloe said, sitting up and reaching forward, “At least you still have these.” She said, holding up the pink sunglasses.
Chuckling, Beca reached out to take hold of the item, “Guess so.”
Keeping her eyes on Beca for a few moments, Chloe reluctantly let go of her arm before opening the door. “I’ll see you later.” She whispered before leaning in to place a small peck on Beca’s cheek.
Leaning into the touch, Beca watched as she slid out of the car, “Yeah... bye Red.” She said, her eyes following the retreating form of the redhead.
Once the girl was inside her house, Beca booted up the engine of the car and accelerated to the house next up before turning into the driveway. She parked behind her parent’s car, before making her way into her house.

Lo-fi
Jesse Swanson (10:24am)
Yo, so we met up with some of the guys from class, they’re chill dudes
Chloe Beale (10:33am)
Hey we’re waiting on you Bec :)
Beca’s eyes adjusted to the brightness of the phone screen as she stared down at the messages. She was confused for a total of 15 seconds before it registered with her that she said she’d hang out with her friends. Her gaze then fell onto the time.
11:00am
Well shit.
“Hey, sorry I was late-” Beca groggily stated 15 minutes later as she stumbled her way into the local café. Her eyes landed on the group of friends tucked away to the side of the room, each staring at her in amusement.
“She’s alive!” Jesse cheered with a goofy grin, taking a sip of his coffee.
“Haha...” Beca said, falling into the empty seat opposite him. Beside him were two of the guys she knew from class, Benji and Donald, and to the left, was Chloe.
“Hi Bec,” Chloe greeted with a smile from beside her.
“Hey Chloe.” The brunette replied, rubbing her eyes in hopes of wakening up. God, she was so tired.
“Late night?”
“Huh?” Beca glanced to her. “Oh... yeah, was working on something.”
“Here,” Jesse’s voice chimed in, making her look to him. He held out a coffee cup, “Thank me later.”
Beca gave him a thumbs up as she took hold of the drink. The girl stared at her coffee cup, breathing in the scent in hopes that it would wake her up somewhat. Taking a sip she relished in the warm liquid that soothed down her throat.
She thought back to the track that she was working on last night. The sounds just weren’t working, and it was bothering her big time. Because if she can’t work on a simple track how the fuck was she going to make it in the industry?
It’s bullshit, she thought. Creative block that is. It’s the cock block of her music. And if she could, she’d whack the shit out of it. But unfortunately, she cannot so she’ll settle for angrily tapping at her laptop mouse pad instead.
Taking another sip of her coffee, her mind wandered to the cliché café music that was playing. Some lofi kind of beat, the kind you’d hear on YouTube to study to. Maybe I could make something like that? She thought, tapping her foot the beat. It was simple enough. You add some electronic piano in and a groovy bassline and you’re good to go. Feels like a cop out though.
Taking out her phone, she noticed a message from her Dad.
Dad (11:25am)
I’ve been called into work, money is at home for dinner. Call me if you need anything
Beca (11:30am)
ok, thanks
Feeling a yawn come on, she tried to hold it in, but to no avail a loud yawn escaped her. The kind that makes you look like you’ve been crying by the tears that has showed up.
“Wakey, wakey!” She heard Jesse say, in a far too annoying tone. He ruffled her hair.
“I hate you,” she grimaced.
“So…?” He raised his eyebrows.
“So, what?”
“Are you up for it?” He continued.
“Up for what?” She took a large sip.
“You weren’t listening, were you….” Jesse stated more than questioned. He rolled his eyes before standing up, “One of you mofos fill in sleepy head over here. I’m gonna get some of that sweet, sweet cake they’re serving.”
They watched as he practically skipped towards the counter. If she were at least 80% awake right now she would have chuckled along with the others. But boy she felt dead.
She began to zone out again until she heard the horrid two words of bowling and movies.
“Wait wha-“
“We’re going bowling soon,” Benji explained, looking rather excited. What a dork. “And then we’re gonna go see that new horror film that came out.”
Beca paused for a second.
“I don’t remember signing up for any of this.” She deadpanned. The redhead beside her let out a little giggle.
“Oh come onnnnn,” Chloe teased, nudging her shoulder slightly. “It’ll be fun.”
“But I’m tired…” The brunette complained with a huff. “How about this, you guys go do that. And I’ll finish my coffee and head back to bed.” She nodded. “Deal?”
“No, no and no,” Popped up Jesse who sat back down, hearing the last part of the conversation.
“I hate you.” Beca repeated from earlier. Yawing once more, jesus Christ at this point, she unintentionally felt her head droop onto Chloe’s shoulder. Leaning it there, she felt herself almost drift off. “This is comfy.” God she was tired.
Seeing the girls exhausted state, the redhead raised her eyebrows.
“Maybe this one is a bit too tired for that today.” She piped up, looking to the boys.
“Nah, poke her with a stick and she’ll wake up,” Jesse chimed in, taking a bite of cake. Donald leant over to steal a bit, much to Jesse’s dismay, ‘go buy yourself some you dick.’
Chuckling Donald, chewed on it, “If the stick doesn’t work, we can throw a bucket of water over her.” He added.
“As amusing as that would be,” Chloe said, nudging Beca off her shoulder, “I think this one should head back home.” Standing she pulled the girl up from the chair. “Come on sleepy.” She hooked her arm through Beca’s.
Making their way to the door, she laughed as the boys mocked crying as they exited.
---
As Chloe was walking alongside the brunette, she realized something. This was the first time it was just them together. Usually, they would be with Jesse.
Her heart started pounding suddenly with slight nerves.
I mean… She had been crushing on the girl for the longest time.
Safe to say Chloe was a nervous wreck incase Beca found out somehow.
But what the redhead didn’t know is that Beca felt the exact same way about her. Fortunately for the brunette though, she was too tired to even think straight, so she groggily stumbled her way up the steps to her house.
Fetching out her keys, she put them in the door before glancing to Chloe who stood staring at the ground. She stepped back and forth anxiously.
“You’re more than welcome to make yourself at home,” Beca said, stepping in through the door. “My dad wont be back until this evening.” She added.
“Are you sure?” Chloe cautiously tip toed into the house. She’d been here before, but never alone, always with Jesse or someone else.
“Yeah of course,” Beca said making her way to the kitchen, Chloe following. “If you want we can put on a movie?”
“I thought you didn’t want to watch any,” Chloe bemusedly piped, accepting the juice pouch from Beca.
“I don’t,” The brunette replied, “But…” She drawled, “You were kind enough to bring my lazy ass back here.”
They both made their way into the living room, Beca half assed pulled up Netflix, before giving the remote to Chloe.
She tried to hold in a yawn but one escaped her.
They settled down onto the sofa, with Chloe starting up some cliché comedy movie. They chatted endlessly for about 10 minutes before going silent and watching the film.
Around 20 minutes, Chloe shifted in her seat as she heard heavy breathing. She glanced over to find Beca passed out, head laying against the back of the cushions.
Chuckling slightly, the redhead shook her head before glancing around for a blanket. Fortunately, one was on the sofa so she threw it around the both of them.
It wasn’t long before she felt herself drift off too, movie long forgotten about.
---
Beca woke up around an hour later with a weight on her shoulder. She quickly came to realize that is no other than Chloe Beale.
Chloe fucking Beale.
Her crush since middle school.
Was laying on her shoulder.
Beca remembered that the girl brought her lazy ass home because she was out of it.
Eyes darting around the room, she debated on what her next move would be. She didn’t want to wake up the redhead. Who, by the way, looked adorable when asleep.
Netflix was playing random movie trailers much to her dismay. She noticed the remote beside her so she switched the TV off.
She stiffened as she felt movement from the girl beside her.
“Mhmm… hi….” Chloe grogged out, voice full of sleep.
“Hey,” Beca replied in a soft tone. “I think we passed out.”
Lazily nodding, Chloe yawned, her head still laying comfortably on the brunette’s shoulder. “Yeah, I guess so.”
Hearing her phone go off, Beca reached for it. She had a few snapchat notifications from the boys. She opened Jesse’s. It was a video of them playing bowling and him getting a strike. ‘And that’s how you do it boys!’ he said in a sassy tone.
Benji had sent a snap of him and Donald with a weird filter. And Donald sent a random video of him zooming in on the bowling ball.
She felt Chloe giggle as she watched the snaps. “They’re such dorks,” She said, snuggling a little further into Beca’s shoulder.
God she’s so cute.
“Are you okay?”
“Hmm?” Beca’s eyebrows furrowed.
“Your heart,” Chloe said, “It’s beating really fast…”
“Ahhh…” Awkwardly running a hand through her hair, Beca glanced to the ceiling, “Uhhh… You know…”
“Uh hmm,” Chloe giggled.
Smirking Beca tipped her head to look at the girl, “What are you giggling at?”
“You,” is all the redhead replied with before using her sleepiness as an excuse to continue snuggling.

German Invasion!
(Detective AU series)
"Did you hear?" Comes a cheerful voice from the desk opposite the redhead's. With a questioning look, Chloe glances up to the boy.
"Hear what?" She asks while browsing through a case file.
"Beca's returning today," Says Jesse, her movements halting. After a few moments tick by, she shrugs, pretending to act uninterested.
"Whatever."
"And as Beca's future Best Man, I need to arrange a welcome back party-" Jesse's goes to explain but it's quickly cut short by the elevator door dinging and low and behold... the one and only Beca Mitchell steps out before making her way in.
"Well..." He awkwardly trails off, "I guess no welcome back party. So, I'm just gonna have to improvise this bitch." Standing, he climbs onto his chair before screaming an obnoxiously loud,"WELCOME BACK!" making the entire police squad glance at him.
Some grimace.
Some hold their hands to their ears.
And one may have cried before bolting out of the room.
Stopping in her tracks, Beca's grip on her carrier bag falters as her gaze lands on him. Her mouth gaping open a few times before saying anything.
"I could not be more ashamed of you than I am right now." She deadpans before moving over to her desk. Setting her bag beside the computer, she sees that he's still on top of the chair.
"Dude, sit down."
"Oh," He whispers before glancing around to the staring eyes. "Sorry." He apologizes, slowly climbing back into his chair.
Beca's eyes follows his movements and she shakes her head with an amused smile. "You're like an overly excited puppy. I hate it." Her attention then falls back to her desk.
Her empty desk.
"Ugh."
Grabbing her bag, Beca zips the side open before putting a hand through. Reaching around, she finds what she needs and pulling it out, she sets the documents aside as well as a notepad. Booting up the desk computer, she lazily taps at the wooden table as she waits for it to load.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't one Beca Mitchell." Comes the sickly-sweet voice of Chloe Beale.
Beca can only sigh as she glances over towards the girl. She tips her head, "Beale."
"Mitchell," Chloe throws back, standing from her desk. She makes her way over towards the girl and leans on the monitor. "I'm surprised they let you back this early."
Beca's scrunches her face up, "But my 3 months are up-"
"Which is just a travesty-" Chloe interrupts in a sing-song voice, added with a smirk. Trying to act tough, she leans further over the desk, but her arm slips from the monitor, ending with the screen tumbling over.
Beca stares dead ahead wondering why she chose to come back.
"Mitchell!" Suddenly comes from the Captain's office, causing her to glance over – and making Chloe straighten up her posture, as Gail makes an appearance. "In my office." She says, motioning behind her. Her eyes then flicker towards Chloe, who- for lack of better words, looks as though she has a stick shoved up her ass- stands staring ahead. "Beale, fix that mess." Gail gestures towards the, almost broken, monitor.
"Yes, Captain!" Chloe flinches, grabbing at the computer screen so fast that it almost drops out of her butter fingers.
"Sweet Jesus," Beca mumbles on her way towards the office.
20 minutes later...
"Who... are they?" Chloe voices from her desk as two, very tall, very intimidating looking, people enter the station.
There's a dark-haired man, tall, slim, around his early 30's stood next to a very gorgeous blonde. Their eyes lock and the woman sends her a wink.
"Damn..." Jesse whistles as they saunter through the desks towards the Captain's office. Suddenly Beca's scuttering out from the door, almost running into the gorgeous blonde amazon woman. She halts barely before colliding with her, cursing profanities, "Watch it you- oh my god..." Beca's eyes land on the woman's face.
Chloe watches from afar, her jaw slacked. "Is she-"
"Drooling?" Jesse askes from beside her, "I think she might be." He chuckles.
"Pieter," Comes the woman's weirdly attractive voice, oh and with an accent, "Tell ze elf to move."
"Move elf," Pieter says, beckoning her away.
Beca's eyes don't stray from the woman as she struts past, getting a whiff of her intoxicating perfume, before entering the office. But then she gets her grips about her back and makes her descent towards her desk.
Sitting at said desk, her mouth lays open. But it's suddenly closed as a soft hand shuts it for her and glancing up she finds Chloe by her side.
"How is she even human?" Is all Beca asks, dreamily, and for whatever reason leaves a bad taste in the redhead's mouth as she glares down the office doors.
XxX
"What?!" Beca's eyebrows shoot to the top of her head.
"Don't make me repeat that, Mitchell," Chloe spits back, grabbing her beer and taking a sip from it. The pair are sat at the bar in which 3 months ago, had lead them to-
...never mind.
Anyways, Chloe dragged the stubborn brunette here, only getting her to agree by persuading her with free pizza and beer.
She honestly thought Beca would have put up more of a fight.
"So, let me get this straight," Beca takes a gulp from her beer before picking up a slice of pizza, "You brought me here to ask me to be your partner?" She asks, taking a large bite from the slice... very ungracefully I might add.
"Ew," Chloe scrunches her face up as the girl gets tomato sauce on the side of her mouth. "Yes." She then says, her foot tapping along the wooden bar floor. "Look, please, Beca."
Beca rolls her eyes, "Why?"
Shaking her head, Chloe huffs, "Cos' we can't just have two German's come in and... and steal our jobs!" Is what she goes with.
"But they aren't?" Beca tries.
Sighing Chloe slouches back. With one last gulp from her beer, she stands to leave, "Forget it, I'll ask someone els-"
"Wait." Beca says, reaching out for the girl's wrist only to accidentally grab her hand. Pulling Chloe back, "I'll do it," She says before ushering her back to her chair.
"Really?" Chloe asks, her eyes lighting up like a kid on Christmas.
Rolling her eyes once again, Beca lets out a small smile, "Yes."
Squealing, Chloe suddenly jumps up from her chair to bring Beca into a bone-crushing hug, almost falling into the girl's lap.
They fail to notice the others in the bar stare over at them.
"Woo!" One screams out, "I think we just got ourselves an engagement!"
And boy does that make the girls pull away.
"Oh, we're not-"
"Shush," Chloe hushes, leaning in to Beca's ear, "This could get us free drinks all night."
"Are you serious, Beale?" Beca exclaims in a whisper. And when she finds Chloe nodding, she gives in. "Fine." When she glances past the redhead, she finds the people in the bar staring at them as they wait for an answer. So, with a sigh, she puts on her best fake smile and-
"She said yes!"
The bar erupts in a fit of cheers and drinks are bought all round for them.
Guess Chloe was right, eh?
XxX
"When you asked me to do this, I thought it was like an actual case..." Beca states as her and Chloe currently, sneak, their way behind a wall to catch a glimpse at the two German's. "Not some spy mission." But then pausing, Beca twists around to face the girl, "Not that I'm complaining."
"That's a first." Chloe pipes back, laughing at Beca's faux hurt look. Shoving her on the shoulder, she tips her head, "Come on, let's keep moving."
"You're so rough, woman-" Beca halts once more, and sighs, "You ever say something in which you immediately wish you could take back?"
"Oh, plenty of times- oh god, move!" Chloe exclaims out of nowhere, her eyes widening as Pieter and- after listening through the hearing devices they're equipped with- Kommissar make their way over to where they're at, or better yet, hiding.
Beca and Chloe decided to follow the German duo after their shift, finding them pulling into a sushi restaurant.
Safe to say, they think something fishy is up. Haha.
Anway, Chloe from the get go had been feeling iffy towards the new pair. And had even scouted out Gail to ask why they were here. Turns out, they were sent over to investigate a case. Now why they needed European soil for that is something beyond her.
Besides... this whole operation, "German Invasion," is totally not because Chloe saw Beca flirting, and by that she means the poor girl getting all worked up, with the blonde goddess of a woman.
Would also like to mention that Beca and Chloe are currently dressed in wigs. Yes, you heard that correctly.
Fucking. Wigs.
Which were Beca's exact words when Chloe threw a pair of dark sunglasses at her along with a black wig.
She honestly looks like she's been summoned by a witch, or is a witch, with the dark veil of hair added with her pale complexion. Whereas Chloe looks- in Beca's opinion, not that she'll ever admit it out loud- freaking hot in a blonde wig.
In a panic, Chloe looks around for where they can go as the German's near them. "Oh, my god, oh my god-" She flails about as Beca looks on hopelessly.
Suddenly an idea sparks in Chloe's head.
As Beca glances over the side of the wall, she's basically face to face with the German's, "Oh fuc-"
Before she can finish, she hears a faint, "Hey babe!" before her head is being tilted to the side and soft lips colliding into hers.
Beca's eyes go wide in shock, but they quickly close over.
"Ugh..." Kommissar tuts, "Filthy Americans..." She scoffs before continuing through a sketchy looking door.
Chloe pushes further into Beca, backing her up against the wall, completely forgetting why they're currently in the position that they're in. But she isn't complaining, considering Beca flips their positions.
But pulling back for air, Chloe bites her lip as her eyes flutter open. And when they do, they widen as she catches a glance over Beca's shoulder.
"What the hell?" She voices, making Beca's eyebrows furrow.
"What's wrong?" The brunette asks, stepping out of the embrace to glance over. "Oh, shit."
Through the glass window of the sketchy looking door, stands both Kommissar and Pieter. Who seem to be stashing their jackets with jewellery.
Diamonds to be exact.
Side note, why out of all places to hide jewellery would someone place it in a damn sushi restaurant? It doesn't make any sense.
"Are they..."
"Committing theft?" Chloe finishes.
"I- I think so." Beca says, still in shock. "We should stop them, right?"
"Right." Chloe says, with a nod. "So, how should we go about this-" Before she can even complete the sentence, Beca bounds away from her, bursting through the door-
"BPD, you're under arrest!"
Later that night...
"Not only did you follow Detective Kommissar and Detective Pieter, while they were on duty, but you also tried to arrest them, is that correct?" Gail asks from her seat in her office as Beca and Chloe stand at the front of the desk, wigs of shame held in their hands.
"In our defence," Beca begins, making the Captain sigh. "We thought they were stealing. Not retrieving..." She shrugs.
"I'm very close to cutting you off, Mitchell." Gail states, catching Beca off guard. She's pissed and the brunette can tell. "You just returned from a suspension and god give me strength if it weren't for you being a somewhat good detective, I would have had you fired long ago."
Beca can only run a hand through her hair. She falls into the chair behind her with a sigh.
Chloe watches with a dejected look as she fiddles with the wig (of shame) in her hand. "It was my fault," She announces catching Beca and Gail's attention. "I asked her to come along. You should be blaming me, not Beca." She says to the Captain who only shakes her head.
"I'm disappointed in you, Detective Beale." Pushing the glasses up on her nose, Gail points to the door, "You're both dismissed. Don't let me see anything like this happening again."
"Holy shit..." Beca sighs once they're out of the office. She glances over to Chloe to find her staring at the ground below. "Hey..." She reaches out to place her hand on the girl's shoulder. "It's okay."
"I shouldn't have made you come along." The redhead says, and it sounds like she's almost in tears.
"You didn't. You asked and I said yes. There's a difference there." Beca says. "How about we go get a drink at the bar? On me."
Nodding, Chloe shrugs, "Okay..." As they're walking out, she suddenly halts. "Beca?" She calls out just as they near the elevator.
"Hmm?"
"You wouldn't have a ring, would you?"
"A ring? Why would you need a ring-" But then Beca's face goes blank. "Oh fuck."
XxX
RAISE YOUR WIGS OF SHAME!
So yeah, I finally updated this and added a new one shot. This one was honestly ridiculous. But then again, this entire series is. Anyways, I hope you all are liking this so far.
P.S. Do you think this is the end for Kommissar and Pieter, or will they return? Hmmmm...

What's a Raincloud without Sunshine?
She watches them. Watches him throw his arm over her shoulder while she beams in delight. Watches as he pulls her closely, almost as if he owns her. But then Jesse's voice brings her out of her stare and she's back to reality.
"Alright guys, let's get to recording!" He calls out to them, them being Luke, Beca, and Chloe. His gaze then falls to the brunette, "Beca?"
Snapping her head up, or more importantly from the redhead opposite her, Beca gives him a nod before standing from the chair she's slouched in. "Yeah, yeah... Let's do this." She claps her hand, grabbing the guitar beside her.
"You alright there, Becky?" Luke asks as they plug their guitars up to the amplifiers. He has a look on his face as if he knows. And then his eyes flicker over to the redheaded girl who places a kiss on her boyfriend's lips and he gets it, only tipping his head in understanding before adjusting the sound of his guitar.
Noticing that Chloe and her boy toy of the month have yet to un-lock lips, she ungracefully slams down on the guitar letting out an unmerciful screech causing the pair to jump back. The boyfriend,Chad, sending her a glare as he almost trips over the amp.
She sends him a cheeky smirk and a lazy shrug, "My bad."
Giggling, Chloe skips her way towards her. "Why?" Is all she asks, her voice low.
"You know I don't like him," Beca replies, now tuning up the guitar.
"I know... But he's my boyfriend, Bec." Chloe reminds her, her eyes watching as Beca's fingers fiddle with the tuning pegs.
"That doesn't mean I have to like him."

Hello, this is Jonathan Holland, owner of Jukebox Bar. I recently saw a video of you and your band performing through Facebook and would like to give you the opportunity of performing at my bar next weekend. I spend my time researching newer bands in hopes of giving them a push in this business and luckily for you and your bandmates, I found your Facebook page.
If you're interested in this offer, please email me back ASAP so we can talk about the details.
Jonathan Holland – Jukebox Bar
...
Rolling the van up outside the bar, Jukebox Bar to be exact, Beca and her friend stare up at the neon sign lit up above the building.
"You sure this isn't rigged?" Luke asks from the passenger seat beside her. Shrugging, Beca opens the door, "Guess we'll find out."
The pair load up their equipment onto the stage set up within the bar, having volunteered to be the two to do it before the rest of the band arrive later that night. As they set the gear up, an older man, around his mid 30's makes an appearance. The sound of his footsteps making them glance over.
"You must be The Trebles?" He guesses. His eyes glancing between them, "I thought there were more of you?"
"We are. And there is," Luke answers for them, looking over to Beca, "They'll be here soon."
"And you must be Beca Mitchell?" The older man says, his eyes falling onto the brunette. He holds his hand out to her.
"That would be me," She says, shaking the hand. She tips her head towards Luke, "And this is Luke."
"Pleasure to meet you," The blonde says, his British accent shining through as he shakes his hand after.
"I'm Jonathan Holland, owner of this place," Jonathan explains, gesturing to the bar around them, "I'll let you guys get set up and check in on you later." He says, backing away, "If you need anything, just let me know." As he then goes to leave, he pauses, turning round to face them with a smile, "Oh... And drinks are on the house for you guys tonight."
An hour later and the two have the stage set up with their gear. Beca sits on the stool situated on the stage, playing a riff on her guitar as she patiently waits for the rest of the band to arrive.
At first, she messes around with the notes, freestyling sounds before she finds it turning into a familiar riff. And she can't help but smile as she gets lost in the sound of electric.
Chloe and Jesse shuffle their way through the bar doors, the sound of a guitar taking over their ears. Before they even see who's playing it, they look to each other and mouth the word, "Beca."
Jesse ventures over towards Luke, who watches from the side as he sips from a drink whereas Chloe's eyes never stray from the brunette on stage. She closes the gap between herself and the stage, taking a seat at the edge of it as she stares up at the girl.
It's only then does Beca's eyes open from the trance she was in, them falling onto the redhead below her somewhat startled. But she eases back into the song, adding more volume to it.
"Sunshine of your Love, huh?" Chloe grins, sending her wink. Beca only chuckles before her gaze lands on Jesse hopping onto the stage and towards the drums. He adds a beat to the riff, and then before she knows it Luke's on bass. Which leads to-
"Get up here, red!" Beca calls down to her friend, tipping her head towards the mic.
Chloe stalls a second and looks like she's about to leave, but twists back around, jumping up onto stage and bursts out the chorus of the song. She beams wide as Beca walks over to sing along with her.
After a quick rehearsal and overview of the setlist, the bar suddenly becomes flooded with people; with some regulars, and some new folk around.
The band are off to side, Jonathan standing beside them.
"Okay Trebles," He says catching their attention from the 'audience' they have, "It's Friday night, which means the people are going to want good music. Now I know you guys are capable of delivering that, so go out there and put on one hell of a show!" He says, giving them a small pep-talk, hyping them as he does so. Beca and Jesse glance to one another before nodding.
"Let's do this guys!"
"Oh my god, that was insane!" Jesse gushes later that night after their set is over. There's a new band on the stag as the group of friends line up in a booth, drinks in each of their hands.
"You're telling me," Luke agrees in all his British charm, nursing his beer. He sits next to the brunette boy, with Chloe to his right and Beca beside her.
Tipping her beer bottle towards him, Beca nods, "Agreed." She chuckle's, their bottles clashing together before taking a sip. To her left, she notices Chloe on her phone.
"Watcha' up to red?" She asks.
"Oh, just texting Aubrey." She replies, setting the phone down before angling herself more towards Beca now that the boys seem to be in conversation.
"Posen?" Beca furrows her brow.
Chloe nods, "The one and only. She couldn't make it tonight and told me to text her how we got on." She explains. "We did aca-awesome." She then adds with a smirk.
"I knew I shouldn't have let you sign up for that acapella group." Beca says, her eyes downcast as she plays along, looking defeated.
She feels Chloe bump her shoulder, "Hey, I got you to sign up for that as well!"
"My biggest mistake was saying yes to that." She admits, taking another sip before setting the bottle down.
"As if you'd say no to me." Chloe teases, leaning in with a giggle. Beca brings her hand up to wiggle a finger in the girl's face, "You see those?" She gestures to Chloe's eyes, "Those are your killer weapons. No one could say no to those big blues."
"Awe, how sweet." Comes a new voice out of nowhere making everyone's head snap up. Stood at the end of the booth was-
"Chad!?" Chloe calls out, sounding confused. She slides her way out of the booth, purposely landing on Beca making her groan, before standing before her boyfriend. "What are you doing here? I thought you had work?"
She leans in to hug him and Beca can't help but notice that he seems to be sending her some kind of death glare.
She shakes it off by taking a nice large gulp of her beer.
"I was able to leave early." He says, bringing his gaze back to the redhead, "Besides... I couldn't miss my girls first gig, now could I?" He catches Beca's eye once again, but only for a split second. His grin looks way to proud as he brings his hand to Chloe's waist pulling her in close. "Hey, my friends are at this club nearby, I was thinking we could go down there?"
"What?" Chloe's brows furrow. "You... you want me to just ditch my friends for yours?"
"Well..." He trails off, rubbing at his neck, "Yeah."
And oh god, Beca wants to punch this douche so much right now, it's not even funny.
But she chooses to scoff, instead standing from the booth before making her way towards the bar, her shoulder shoving past Chad's rather roughly. She fails to notice Chloe's eyes following her as she takes a seat at the stool.
"So, what do you say?" Chad asks, his eyes hopeful, bringing her out of her daze.
"Chad..." Chloe sighs, taking a step back. She catches sight of Beca again, now conversing with the bartender and shakes her head no. "I can't... just abandon my friends for you."
"But I'm your boyfriend, Chloe!" He exclaims, his voice rising in tone.
"Yeah, but Bec-" Chloe stops herself, taking a deep breath. She then gestures to the booth, "But these are my best friends. I've known them all my life. They're my family and this was our firstgig."
Beca now chooses to slowly begin walking back to their booth, keeping her distance but enough to hear the conversation.
"So...?" Chad raises his eyebrows, "My friends have got VIP access and-"
"You just don't get it, do you?" Chloe snaps, not caring that her voice is raised. "You know what?" She says side-stepping him, "If you're going to be like this, then maybe we shouldn't be together."
"Are you serious?!" Chad exclaims. "You're breaking up with me just because I want to hang out with my own friends and not with your mediocre band, not to mention that dyke of a best friend of yours?"
"You've stepped over the line there, mate," Luke voices from his seat, catching his attention.
"Fuck off, mate. This isn't any of your business."
Luke slams his drink down on the table, almost smashing it in the process causing Chad to flinch back.
"Okay, easy there boys," Jesse tries to diffuse, standing from the booth. He notices that a few people are staring at them, "We don't want to bring attention to ourselves."
Chloe shakes her head at Chad, "We're done." She says, moving past him towards the exit. Before she can make it, she feels a grip on her wrist pull her back. "Chad, let go of me!"
She glares at him and as he goes to mutter a word, a fist is flying in his direction, hitting him square on the nose. His hand automatically flies to the wound as he stares up at his attacker.
"You son of a bitch!" He angrily screams at Beca, who only smirks at him. "You broke my nose!" He whines out.
"You know..." Beca starts, "I've been wanting to do that for a while now."
Suddenly Jonathan makes an appearance from behind the bar, "What the hell is going on over here?"
"That bitch attacked me!" Chad cries out, point towards Beca as his nose continues to gush blood.
Jonathan turns towards the girl, "Is this true?"
"He was harassing Chloe." Beca explains.
The older man only nods, "Well, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you all to leave." He says to her, before turning to Jesse and Luke, "You two, go get your gear packed up." As he goes to leave, he twists over to them once again, "Oh and your set tonight was really great. The guys and gals in here loved it. So, I'll see you all again next week?"
"For sure," Jesse says, with a smile.
"Hey, do me a favour," Jonathan looks down to Chad, "Get the fuck out of my bar."
It's around midnight when the four of them stumble back to Luke and Beca's shared apartment. They'd stopped on their way at a 24-hour store to stock up on liquor and gas before deciding that it was best if they crashed together that night.
Beca and Luke had moved in together not long after high school, they both were the 'originators' of their band and had first started out as a DJ duo. Beca more-so than Luke. Then Chloe and Jesse sang in for vocals one day on a track that the brunette had produced and suddenly came to realize that they clicked well as a band.
Which leads them to now, 3 years later with only one gig under their belt as a band and crammed into a small apartment on the outskirts on New York.
Sitting around the small living area, they pass around a whiskey bottle, each taking a sip. They joke about their childhood and share inside jokes. Chloe leans her head on Beca's shoulder as Beca lays her feet across the coffee table in front. Luke's sat on the floor below Beca, his own head lazily bumping against her calf whereas Jesse's sat on the armchair beside them, the whiskey bottle in his hand.
"I think it's time we call it a night." He announces, his voice slurring slightly.
"I second that." Luke says. Ungracefully, he lifts himself off the floor, holding his hand out to the brunette boy who takes it. They lean on each other for support as they stumble their way to the Brit's room, leaving Beca and Chloe the couch to themselves.
A few moments of silence go by, the faint sound of the clock ticking in the background before either of them speak.
Chloe's the first as she raises her head to glance up at the girl, "Hey, Bec?"
"Hmm?" Beca responds, lazily drawing circles on Chloe's hand, which is splattered across her wait.
"You didn't have to punch Chad you know."
"Yeah, I know..." Beca nods, "But I wanted to."
"Why?"
"Cos' he's a douche and doesn't treat you right." Beca replies, not even needing time to think about it. "You're honestly incredible, you know?" She continues, her voice low, making this moment seem almost intimate, "You're Chloe Beale for crying out loud. You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen and probably will ever see. You're the sunshine to my raincloud, you're-" With a sigh, Beca pauses, her movements stilling.
"What?" Chloe eases, bringing her hand to Beca's.
"You just deserve so much more than him, that's all." Beca shakes her head, leaning it back on the edge of the couch as she shuts her eyes.
Chloe toys with her fingers as she replay's the girl's words in her head. Her eyes flicker over Beca's face, over the curve of her cheeks, her lips, her nose, her eyes and decides to make a conscious decision that could change the relationship she has with Beca.
For either worse or for good.
Raising her head from the brunette's shoulder, she leans ever so slightly up, so that she's almost level with her. Taking a shaky breath, she tips her head forward so that her lips gently fall onto Beca's.
She feels Beca tense up and her eyes snap open. Leaning back, she stares into Beca's confused wide eyes, they flicker between each one before gazing back down towards her lips.
Beca finds herself doing the same and without thinking leans in to capture Chloe's lips with her own. The kiss itself is fast and needy, nothing like either of them would expect their kiss together to go, but neither complaining.
Beca's hands hold onto the side of Chloe's face as Chloe's grip onto the collar of Beca's shirt. Her hands slip between the gap at the top, sliding over her collarbone's before creeping up to her neck to pull her in closer.
Sighing into the kiss, Beca's hands fall to Chloe's waist as she angles her head to deepen the intense lip-lock. Pulling back for air, she's left breathing heavy into Chloe's face, their breath mingling between them.
"What are we doing?" She asks, her eyes focused on Chloe's lips.
"Let's not think about that," Is what Chloe replies with before crashing their lips together again.
From that night on, neither said a word to each other about the kiss, yet they'd find themselves back in the same situation. Whether it was because they were drunk, or it was after a gig, or even when sober just hanging out in Beca's room, Beca and Chloe would always find themselves lip-locked again.
Which brings them back to the present. They just completed, once again, another successful gig at Jukebox Bar and are now inside the lady's bathroom.
Stumbling their way through the door in a fit of giggles, Chloe leans in to capture Beca's lips. "You were so good tonight!" She says into the kiss.
"Speak for yourself, red." Beca replies as she's backed into the door.
"I love it when you call me that," Chloe husks into her ear before kissing her way down Beca's jawline and neck.
"Is that so?" Beca smirks, "I'll keep that in mind." She says. Then suddenly uses her strength to back Chloe up against the counter, her hands flying to the girl's thighs to hoist her up onto the countertop.
"God, that was hot." Chloe can't help but say, her lips finding Beca's again. Her hands fly to the brunette's shirt, undoing the first couple at the top. She leans in to kiss the newly found skin, while continuing to undo the rest. When she reaches the bottom, she feels her hand hit the metal of Beca's belt and halts.
Pulling back, she stares into Beca's eyes.
"It's okay." Beca says, nodding her head.
Just as Chloe's about to undo the girl's belt, the door to the restroom flies open making the pair spring back from each other.
In comes a group of drunk girls, too drunk to take notice on what they just walked in on.

Yo, Beca! This is Dax from Residual Heat Records, based in Atlanta. I couldn't help but find your YouTube channel. Safe to say, I think your mixes are awesome. Not to mention your original tracks are pretty dope. I showed them to our head producer here, Sammy, and he believes you have some real potential to be a hit producer. He spoke to the head of department here and has managed to set you up for a Skype interview if you'd be interested in joining our label. If you wish to, let us know ASAP so we can begin.
Hope to have you with us soon!
Dax – Residual Heat Records.
Beca sits at the small kitchen counter in her apartment as she stares down at the screen in front of her.
She almost thinks this is a fake, but then she does research on the label and finds that it's real.
She's nearly 22 years old, her dream career is right in front of her but there's one thing that's stopping her.
Gentle arms wrap around from behind her as a head leans on her shoulder. And Chloe sighs into her neck before placing a soft kiss there.
"Good morning..." She mumbles, with a smile. Leaning back up, she reaches over to take hold of Beca's cup of coffee but halts as her eyes read over the email on the screen. Reading over it, once, twice, three times before letting out a shaky breath.
"Beca?"
Shaking her head, Beca turns in the chair to face, her. "I know, I know..." She says, running a hand through her hair. "I can't do this. I can't say yes-"
"Beca."
"I mean, how can I go work on music, solo, when I have a band-"
"Beca..."
"No, I won't do it-"
"BECA!"
Pausing, Beca brings her eyes to Chloe to find her beaming down at her.
"Beca, this is amazing!" She glee's pulling Beca out of the chair to bring her into a bone crushing hug.
"Wait, what?" Beca asks confused. "What about you guys?"
"What about us?" Chloe asks, once they've pulled back.
"You guys are my band members, my family... I can't go do music without you."
"Beca..." Chloe sighs, taking hold of her hands. "Ever since we were kids, this has been your dream. Not mine or Luke's or Jesse's."
"But-"
"No but's... you deserve this Beca. The reason the band ever got to the stage it's at now is because you produced our songs, you wrote the lyrics. You were the one who got us gigs and advertised us. You are who deserves this opportunity."
"So, you think I should go for the interview?"
"YES!"
"But... if I get this, I'll most likely be living in Atlanta." Beca reminds, her eyes downcast. "I..." Shaking her head, looks back to the laptop.
"What is it?" Chloe asks.
"I don't think I can leave you." Beca confesses, her gaze coming back to Chloe. "You're my everything..." She admits, her voice low almost distant.
It's been a wild ride, Beca thinks. Ever since that first night they kissed, her and Chloe haven't been able to keep their hands off each other. It's almost to the point where they'd consider themselves girlfriends but... unofficial. Chloe hasn't seen anyone else since kissing Beca and vice versa. Growing up, Beca always had had a crush on the redhead, the feeling only growing stronger as time went on. For Chloe, she'd always admired Beca. Her talents, her charisma, her charm, her love. And she'd later find in her late teen years that this was because she had fallen for the brunette but was convinced they'd never be together.
Now though, she knows that there is a chance that they finally could. But Beca's dream is more important than anything else. Or so she thinks.
"Becs..." She takes a step forward, "Please don't put me in front of your dream." She pleads, tipping Beca's face up towards hers.
"But-" Beca's interrupted by Chloe's index finger going to her lips. Chloe takes her finger away and replaces it with her lips, giving Beca a kiss fuelled with passion.
This kiss feels different from all their others. Those kisses were driven by hunger and lust, this is instead filled with love. This is what they thought their first kiss would feel like.
"I'm so proud of you, Beca." Chloe mumbles into the kiss.
...
The Skype interview went better than expected.
Beca got the job.
She flies out to Atlanta in 3 weeks.
Beca settles down into her new apartment in Atlanta one Friday evening. It's been just over a month since she left New York for her new job. Said job has been going really good for her, her boss, Sammy has shown keen interest in her after he heard a song she produced with a young girl named Emily.
Emily was a year or so younger than her, she was one hell of a lyric writer and singer. That combined with Beca's producing skills left for a great opportunity which they thankfully did not screw up.
Switching on the TV, Beca lets it run as background noise before searching for her phone. When she grabs hold of it, she taps the home screen and is met with a picture of her and Chloe.
The picture was taken a few months ago, just after a gig of theirs. They were sat in 'their' booth, Chloe's arm draped over her shoulder as she grinned into the kiss she had planted on Beca's cheek.
Beca smiles at the memory, but it quickly fades as she remembers that Chloe's currently in New York, probably with some new dude, having completely forgotten about her and is probably engaged and ready to have kids-
Knock, knock, knock...
Furrowing her brow, Beca glances to the door.
Knock, knock, knock...
Getting up, she makes her way towards the door with cautious steps. Reaching the handle, she twists it open only to find-
"Chloe?!"
"Becs!" Chloe squeals launching herself at the brunette. Beca catches her just in time, almost tripping over backwards.
"What the hell are you doing here!" Beca asks, holding Chloe tight to her.
"I wanted to come see you." Chloe says, pulling back from the embrace, "I have some exciting news for you."
"Yeah?" Beca eye's her warily. She then remembers that Chloe's bags are still out in the hallway- wait, bags? "Why... do you have these with you?" Beca questions, bringing the luggage into the room before closing the door behind her.
"That's kind of what I wanted to talk to you about." Chloe says, looking sheepish. "After you left, I felt empty. Like there was a part of me missing and I came to realize that I made the wrong decision." She takes a step forward, "I shouldn't have just let you leave like that, I should've come with you." She says. Biting her lip, she then goes on to explain, "I did research and found that there's a teaching programme around here, so I applied..."
"And?" Beca dares to ask, too scared of what she might hear.
"...I got accepted!" Chloe beams.
"You did?" Beca exclaims, a smile on her face.
"Yep!" Chloe nods.
"So... does that mean..." Beca gestures between them.
"We can finally be together?" Chloe finishes. "Yeah, we can."
Author's Note: FYI... Jesse and Luke were totally fine with Chloe moving to Atlanta. They may have even insisted she did.

DEAD-END
Heavy breathing and limbs shaking. Hands fall to rest on the cold counter in front. Grimacing in pain, one hand reaches up and pulls. Left eye twitching, their vision focuses on the tooth laying on the counter.
A small droplet of blood drips beside it from their open mouth.
Staring at their reflection in the cracked mirror, they take in the bloodshot eyes surrounded by dark rims and the nasty gash bleeding out of a left eyebrow. From the mirror, they see a figure standing leaned against the doorway and twisting around in their place, stand opposite them.
"Beca," Comes a small sigh from the girl in the doorway.
"We need to go," Beca states, picking up the tooth before flicking it out the side window. "There's people out there," She says, beckoning the girl over. Standing beside Beca, she looks out through the small gap and finds a small group of men stood around a large vehicle.
"They found me while I was searching for supplies," Beca explains, "They got one hell of a right hook." She says, causing the other girl to glance to her injuries. "I tried negotiating with them, but..." She sighs. "They're not a group for extra additions." Beca adds. Her eyes widen as one of the men suddenly glance their way.
Her feet move to the side and she pulls the other girl with her. Her eyes find a small piece of the broken mirror beside her foot and crouching down, she takes possession of it. Holding it up, she uses it to see out through the gap of the window.
She curses when she sees that the men have gone.
Turning back, her eyes find another pair, "We really need to leave."
Seeing the girl nod, they quickly sneak their way back to the main room of the house before picking up their supply bags. They're in the middle of throwing them across their shoulders when they hear it.
Looking to the closed door in front, they watch in silence for movement until a sudden smash occurs followed by a sledgehammer bursting through the wood.
The pair are out of the room before the man even can make his way in.
Frantically speeding their way through the house, they come to a stop at the back door. Pushing down on the handle, Beca comes to find that it's locked. "Shit," She curses, jimmying with it. Sighing, she takes a step back. From behind, she hears footsteps and shaking her head, she lifts the hammer from her belt before forcing it down onto the handle. The hit echoes making the footsteps halt.
But only for a split second.
Hitting the handle a second time, she shoulders the door forcing it open. Grabbing the other girls hand, she pulls her out and makes a run for their car. But before they can make it, Beca feels herself be dragged to the side and into the bushes.
"What the-" She's silenced by a hand reaching up and pointing toward the door. Bringing her eyes there, Beca's attention is focused on two men who look around the yard.
"Can you see em'?" Comes a disgruntled voice from inside. They watch as one shakes their head before shouting back, "No. The bastard got away!" He says angrily.
After a few seconds, the men return back indoors causing Beca to breathe out a sigh of relief. "Thank God," She mumbles. Turning her attention to the girl beside her, she tightens the grip of their joined hands, "Thanks, Chlo." She says, leaning back on her other hand.
"That was intense," Chloe says with an eyebrow raised.
"Yeah," Beca agrees with a dry chuckle. Detangling their hands, she brings one up to wipe the sweat of her brow and in doing so, causes her to wince. Hearing it, Chloe worriedly looks to the gash above her friend's eye.
"Why were they following you?"
"Told you. We had a disagreement-"
"Bullshit," Chloe interrupts making Beca glance to her.
After a moment, the brunette lets out sigh, "Fine." Sitting up, she hooks the backpack off her shoulder and unzips it.
Chloe narrows her eye as she watches her.
Reaching a hand in, Beca pulls out a handgun before taking out another. Setting them both on the grass, she brings her gaze back to Chloe only find her staring back with a disapproving look.
"Beca," Chloe says slowly, "Why do you have these?" She asks, "Better yet, how did you get these?"
"I think you can figure that one out on your own."
"Beca, you can't keep doing stuff like this," Chloe says with a sigh.
"Well, why not?" The brunette argues back, shoving the weapons back into her bag, "We need these, Chloe. It's been well over a month, maybe two!" She says, frustrated. "We've been lucky so far, really lucky, to be even alive." Throwing the backpack over her shoulder, she stands looking down at the redhead, "We couldn't keep going with melee weapons." She says, holding a hand out.
Chloe gazes to the hand before grabbing it and being hoisted up.
"We needed more protection, Chloe." Beca says, pointing to the small house, "We can't stay here anymore."
XxX
"Jesse!" Benji cheers, slightly tipsy. His brows furrow in confusion as his friend looks up at him, his face sickly white. "Jesse?" He rests a hand on his shoulder, "Are you okay?"
Shaking, Jesse reaches up with a shaky hand, grasping at his arm, "I don't feel too good."
"Hey, maybe you should sit down?" Benji suggests, leading him over to a lounge chair beside the pool. Sitting down, Jesse looks up through a pained smile. "Hey, man. We're graduates..."
"Yeah," Benji says, taking a seat at the edge of the chair.
"Benji!"
Looking over his shoulder, Benji sees Emily waving over to him, waving back he turns to Jesse, "Do you mind?"
Tapping him on the arm, Jesse shakes his head, "Go have fun," he says, before adding, "Just don't be too awkward."
"Right, right," Benji laughs. Standing he tips his head at Jesse before walking over to Emily.
Jesse's eye twitches but he shakes it off deciding to watch the party. His eyes find his small DJ friend, and grins as he watches her laugh with Chloe.
Suddenly he feels an itch on his neck and begins scratching at it. So much that when he pulls his hand back, blood is smeared across his fingertips.
"What the hell?" Shaking, he brings his hand back to his neck only to find it wet. Keeping his hand there, he feels his eye twitch again.
What is going on? He thinks before finding himself looking at Beca. They catch each other's eyes and he throws her a grin through gritted teeth.
He sees Beca lean closer to Chloe before making her way over. Twitching again, he brings his hand down to rest on his stomach. Taking a deep breath, he looks up to find Beca standing at the end of the chair. Her eyes widen as they find the scratch marks along his neck.
"Jess?"
"Hi, Bec," He weakly greets, trying to catch his breath.
"Dude... W-what's going on?" She cautiously asks making her way over to him. Crouching down, she pulls her sleeve shirt down to cover her hand before moving it to his neck. Holding pressure on his cuts, she worriedly looks back at him, "Jesse. What happened?"
"I-" He stutters, "I don't know."
"Seriously, Jess. You're worrying me," Beca says. Suddenly she notices that his eyes begin to droop. "Jesse?" She calls out to him.
He doesn't respond.
"Jesse, stop playing with me, man!" She repeats, lightly shoving him. When he doesn't respond, she frantically looks around for help when her eyes catch crystal blues from afar.
She glances at Chloe, a pleading look on her face when she suddenly feels a strong grip on her hand. Turning back she sees that Jesse's eyes remain shut.
"Jesse-" She's interrupted by his other hand bouncing up and grasping at her neck. With widened eyes she watches as his snap open.
His once dark orbs were now lighter than ever, nearing a light grey.
"J-Jes..." She chokes out, quickly losing breath and oxygen. The noise of the party begins to become a blur as her vision darkens, her eyelids begin to close but before they can, she feels someone wrap their arms around her and pull her away.
The last thing she sees is Jesse being held down by Benji and a few Bellas.
XxX
Sweat trickles down her spine as she recalls that night.
Her gaze is on the road ahead as she keeps watch. Behind her, Chloe lays snoozing along the passenger seats. Slouching back into her own, Beca rests her head along the back.
Her thoughts often wander to the Bellas.
Where they are?
Are they still alive?
Have they been turned?
She's been thinking about her fellow teammates for the past week. She can tell Chloe has been too.
She wonders what Fat Amy is doing. If CR made it out. Did Stacie escape?
She likes to think that they all made it out safe and okay.
But she knows that this is real life.
She shuts her eyes for a few seconds before reopening them and when she does...
She kinda wishes she hadn't.
About a quarter of a mile away stands them. She can barely see them through the flickering street lights.
But she sees them.
Lowering the car window down an inch, she peels her ears back and listens out. Her eyes narrow when she feels her ear twitch and glancing to the side window, she catches sight of more stumbling figures making their way closer.
"Great," She mutters quietly to herself. Tapping a beat along the wheel, she debates on what she should do. Starting the engine would only alert them of their location, but when her eyes catch the turn off just in front, she begins rethinking.
Shutting her eyes tight, she places her hand on the keys before twisting. She grimaces when the engine roars to life and opening her eyes, she quickly pushes down on the accelerator high tailing it around the turn off.
From behind, the redhead groggily flickers her eyes open and groans when the car drives over a bump.
"Uh..." She hears Beca mumble, "Don't look behind."
Furrowing her brow, Chloe does exactly that. Sitting up, she twists around so she's facing out the back window.
A horde of figures stumble their way after them.
"Beca..." She turns back around with feared eyes.
"I'll lose them," Beca assures, "I'll lose them," She repeats with a nod and sure enough, they lose the horde after a few moments.
Continuing the drive through the cut off, she keeps her eyes open for any more. Hearing shuffling, she looks behind to see Chloe climb over to the front seat. "Be careful," Beca calls out.
Sitting in place, Chloe reaches for the map on the dashboard. Unfolding it, she reaches into her bag pulling out a flashlight. Lighting the map up, she points to it, "I think we're about here." She says. Beca glances over.
"So..." The brunette gazes back to the path, "Are we far?"
"A little." Chloe states, "We still have another town to pass before we reach Barden."
Beca and Chloe had decided going back to Barden was their best shot. For one, they needed to find out if any of their friends were still alive and if they were, they wanted to see if they were still there.
Beca never voices it, but she needs confirmation on what happened to her best friend. Since passing out at their graduation party was the last time Beca saw Jesse.
The two were never anything more than friends, they deemed each other more as siblings. Jesse had befriended the brunette long before they attended Barden and had been best friends since childhood. They grew up together, made it through high school together and many mistook them for brother and sister.
And in their eyes, they were.
"You know..." Beca says, a small grin in place, "For someone who failed maps, you sure are good with directions."
"Are you being serious?" Chloe asks, folding the map. "Or are you being a sarcastic asshole?"
"I'm being serious," The girl answers, "For real. If it wasn't for you, we would've been lost by now." She says sincerely, her eyes finding the redheads.
"Thank you." Chloe says. Watching as Beca lets out a yawn, she places a hand on her arm, "Hey, you should rest."
Shaking her head, Beca tightens her grip on the wheel, "I'm okay."
"Beca, come on," Chloe pleads, "Let me drive for a little while. I'm more rested than you."
A few moments pass before Beca nods, "Okay," Pulling the car to a stop, she and Chloe switch places only with her in the back. Laying down as Chloe drives off, she glances up to the girl, "Hey, Chlo?"
"Yeah?"
"If anything happens, make sure you wake me."
XxX
The redhead catches Beca's gaze from afar and sees the worried look on her face. Setting her drink to the side, she saunters her way over but halts when she notices how ridged Beca's frame had become.
Speeding up the pace, she's just about to see what's happening when Amy comes bundling over grabbing Beca from behind and pulling her away.
Furrowing her brow, Chloe moves to the side just in time to see Jesse's hand slip from Beca's neck. Gasping, Chloe dashes over to Amy. "Oh, my god!" She yelps, suddenly sobering up, seeing red hand marks along her friend's neck.
Hearing an inhuman screech, Chloe snaps her head over to where Jesse lays. She catches sight of his eyes causing her breath to hitch. She doesn't have time to comprehend it as Jesse suddenly pushes Benji away with so much force that the magician falls to the ground.
"Chloe!" Twisting around, Chloe sees Amy frantically waving to her while carrying Beca on her shoulder. Jogging her way to them, she follows the blonde out to the front of the Trebles house.
"She's still breathing," Fat Amy says, setting Beca in the passenger side of the brunette's truck. "But, she's in bad condition, ginger." She adds. Fat Amy reaches into the brunette's pocket pulling out a set of keys.
"Here," the blonde shoves them into her hands, "Get her away from here-"
"AGH!"
Spinning around at the interruption from behind the house, their eyes follow the sound.
"Get Beca away," Amy says strictly. Chloe doesn't have time to register this new side of the blonde as the girl makes her way around the house.
"Be careful, Ames!" She calls out before hopping into the car. She straps Beca in before pulling off.
Turning out of the driveway, the redhead's eyes widen in horror when they glance into the side mirror.
XxX
Nearing daylight, Chloe pulls the truck up beside a convenient store before poking at Beca.
"Bec," She whispers, "Wake up."
"Ugh..." The girl groans, turning over on her side. "Is something wrong?" She asks, cracking an eye open. Her vision's blurry but she at least takes in that it's morning.
"No," Chloe answers, "I just wanted to wake you up."
"Gee, thanks," Beca mumbles, sitting up and rubbing at her eyes.
"Gas is low," Chloe announces, looking at the meter, "I thought we should refill."
"Good thinking," Beca says. With her vision now clear, she looks around at their surroundings. The area is deserted, which was expected. Well...
Deserted from humans from what she can see.
"Did you see anything?" She questions, pulling herself up and over the console and into the passenger seat.
Shaking her head, Chloe answers, "Nope. Not really," She says, before adding, "There was a few of them back there. But nothing to really worry about."
"Okay." Reaching down, she hands Chloe her bag before grabbing her own, "So, what's the plan?"
Pausing, Chloe bites her lip before turning to Beca, "Okay, so maybe I woke you up for another reason." She says, a timid smile in place.
Shaking her head, Beca lets out a chuckle, "You never were one for plans." She says, pulling the backpack on. Gazing out the windows, she scouts for any form of life just to make sure. Seeing nothing, she brings her attention back to the redhead.
"I'm going to run into the store and grab some supplies, you on the other hand are going to pump this thing up while keeping watch." She explains, "Okay?"
"Okay."
Slowly driving up the path, Chloe stops the truck beside a fuel pump. Beca jumps out of the car before making her way to the main door.
Seeing that it's slightly open, she braces her hand out, cautiously pushing it open. She cringes when it rings out chiming bells.
Stalling in place, she waits for any noise but it never comes.
Tip-toeing her way in, she eyes the store. Since she never grabbed the essentials on her last supply run, she makes her way toward them this time.
Going through each aisle, she picks up whatever they would need before reaching the medical section. Roaming her eyes around the shelves, she reaches for a first aid kit before grabbing a few other supplies.
Just when she's about to leave, she hears a door slam followed by light footsteps. Turning on the spot, she follows the sound before crouching low. Creeping her way along the aisle, she peeps her head around the corner.
A lonely figure staggers its way along the store ground. Trailing one leg behind. It groans loudly and before she knows it, another one makes an appearance.
Blocking her way out.
Internally screaming, Beca slides her backpack off and as silently as she can, unzips it to place their supplies in. During the process, she lifts out one of the two handguns she stole from the men.
She suddenly wishes she gave Chloe one.
Not having time to dwell, she clicks the safety off before hooking her bag back on. Peeking her head around once again, she quickly pulls back when one of them notices her.
"Shit," She mumbles hearing it growl. Knowing that the gun would only cause trouble right now, she instead holds her breath as she waits for it to make an appearance.
During this, her hand automatically reaches for the knife in her belt.
Hearing the footsteps near her, she stands from her crouched position and patiently waits.
Diving forward, Beca digs the knife into its neck which erupts a screech. Pushing harder, she drives the blade further until it comes out the other end. Ripping the blade out, she scrunches up her face as darkish goo squirts onto her arm.
Just to make sure, she raises her hand up before driving the knife down into its head.
Always remember to double-tap.
Making her away around the aisle, she goes to make a run for it, only getting so far when suddenly she feels her backpack be tugged on.
Being pulled to the ground, the creature screams down at her, thrashing its arms around as she struggles to free from its grip.
In her periphery, she sees the handgun to her right. Waiting for the correct moment, she goes to grab it only to feel the weight on top disappear.
And gazing up, she finds Chloe stood above her with a hammer in hand.
They both look to the side to see the creature crawl its way toward them. Scrambling to her feet, Beca reaches for her knife but is beaten to it by Chloe stepping forward and hitting the creature across the head with her hammer.
It falls to the ground with a thump.
"Come on," Chloe reaches for Beca, dragging her by the arm and back to the safety of the truck.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Beca looks on at Chloe in shock and amazement. The redhead, who browses through Beca's backpack feels the other girls gaze on her.
"What are you staring at?" She finally asks, setting the bag down.
Blinking a few times, Beca shuts her mouth having not realized it was open before bringing her attention back to the girl.
"I'm not gonna lie," She says, making Chloe raise an eyebrow, "I'm a little turned on by that."
Raising both brows, Chloe throws her an opposing look, "From almost dying?" She smirks leaning closer to Beca.
Rolling her eyes, Beca falls back into the seat, "Jesus Christ," She mumbles, shaking her head. Hearing laughter from her friend, she snaps her head over, "Just fucking drive." She crosses her arms.
Roaring the engine to life, Chloe continues to giggle before driving off.
XxX
Keeping her tears at bay, Chloe looks over to Beca. The girl had been unconscious for what seems a lifetime to Chloe.
The redhead had reached the hospital only to find it up in flames. Which confused her at first but when scouting the surrounding for a doctor, she had come face to face with a human.
But it didn't seem human.
It showcased the same symptoms which Jesse did back at the party. The "human" screeched and wildly thrashed its arms around while trying to grasp at a nurse's neck.
Chloe had drove them away from the scene as soon as she witnessed it which is why they're currently parked in an alleyway. Hidden away.
Sniffling, Chloe wipes at her eyes before leaning over the console. Watching as Beca lets out slow breaths, she brings a hand up to her face, framing her features before settling it against her jaw.
"Please wake, Bec," She whispers laying a soft kiss to her cheek. "I'm scared."
XxX
"There it is," Beca says, seeing the familiar gates afar. "One Barden University." Driving the truck near the entrance, she pulls the breaks, turning to face Chloe. "You ready?"
Nodding, Chloe clears her throat, "Yeah." She answers.
"Time to face the music," Beca says, slowly pushing down on the accelerator. They carefully drive their way through the campus, grimacing when they see the amount of bodies that decorate the quad.
The worst is that they can tell who some of them are.
They pass one girl who Beca recognises from her Philosophy class back in Freshman year. They pass another who Chloe recognises from Russian Lit.
They look to each other when they near the Bella household, gulping when they see its current state. The once white building was now a stonewashed grey, with one side pitch black from being burned.
"Jesus."
Pulling up outside the building, Beca shuts the engine off leaving an eerie silence in the air. "I have no clue what we'll find in here." She says, breaking the silence.
"Hopefully, our friends," Chloe answers getting out of the truck, Beca following.
"Hey," Beca says making her glance back with a furrowed brow. She watches as Beca reaches into her bag pulling out the other handgun, "Here," She says holding it out for Chloe. "For protection," She adds.
"Thanks," Chloe says, grasping the gun in her palm.
They make their way up the steps, the wood creaking with every movement. They stand opposite the door to find it slightly ajar, which worries them. Pushing it open, Beca sticks her head in to look around. Seeing that it's clear, she beckons over the redhead before they both enter their old home.
Sneaking their way around, they scope out the entirety of the downstairs floorplan before thinking about heading to the next story. On their way up, they both curse the staircase for being so creaky. Stopping at the top, Beca looks over to Chloe, "We should split up," She whispers.
"And what?" Chloe replies, "Get eaten?" She shakes her head, "I'm staying with you."
Rolling her eyes, Beca looks between each bedroom door. Making her way to the furthest one, she twists the handle before holding her breath. Gently easing it open, she peeps her head in and finds it empty. Throwing a thumb up behind her, she waits for Chloe to reply in some way.
But she never does.
Confused, she turns to find Chloe gone.
Fear begins to well up inside her but it vanishes when she glances to the side. Chloe's stood looking inside Flo's old room.
"Hey, Chloe?" She whispers, making her way over, "So much for not splitt-"
She's silenced by the sob that erupts from the girl.
"Chloe?"
Standing beside her friend, she peeks her head in to see what's wrong.
Oh, how she wishes she hadn't.
Her eyes automatically close on instinct. She feels Chloe grip her arm which makes her open them again.
Lying in front of them is one Florencia Fuentes. Flo who lays paralysed and very much not breathing. Feeling sick from the sight, Beca swallows it down.
For Chloe's sake.
The redhead is already a teary mess beside her and feeling water brim her own eyes, Beca slowly makes her way nearer to the dead girl. She inhales sharply when she catches a clearer sight.
The girls neck is bathed in red and a chunk of her flesh has clearly been teared into.
Chloe lets out a cracked sob leaning into Beca. Wrapping her arms around her, the brunette pulls her in close, shielding her view from the sight. While hugging the girl, Beca stares down at her former teammate.
She takes in how the wound is still fresh causing a narrow to her eyes. The girls face still has a faint glow to it, and there's no reek from the bod-
Beca's face pales from a realization.
"Chloe, we need to go-" Before she can finish, she feels the girl go stiff in her arms making her pause mid-sentence. Pulling back, she sees Chloe's eye widen in fear as she looks on frantically.
Beca's pretty sure she knows why.
Looking over her shoulder, Beca sees one of the undead facing them in the doorway.
It's not just any undead either.
They'd recognise a Bella any day. Undead or not.
Blonde hair frames it's face giving them an idea as to who it is.
Or was.
Suddenly another one appears behind it, this one with darker hair which only confirms their assumption.
On instinct, Beca reaches her arm across shielding Chloe from them. Hearing a sniffle come from the girl, Beca lands her hand on Chloe's hip pulling her closer so that she's stood behind her. With her free hand, Beca grips the knife in her belt releasing it from its holder.
The two undead stumble their way into the room, making it even more difficult for the pair to escape. Feeling Chloe release her hand, she watches her move to stand alongside her.
Suddenly the blonde one dives at them, letting out a squeal. Mid-dive, Beca raises the knifed hand.
Their former friend falls directly into the blade, screeching at her as it thrashes its limbs about, it claws at Beca's arm making her hiss in pain and while trying to pull the blade out, Beca sees the other undead focus in on Chloe. Not being able to dwell on it, she rips the knife back out before kicking the undead in its mid-section giving her a second to recuperate.
Taking a needed breath, she lifts the knife back into the air aiming it for the undead's head. Driving it down, she watches it drill through the creature's skull with the deafening sound of cracking bones quickly following. Gagging at the sound, she rips the blade out before watching it fall limp to the ground.
Feeling a hand on her shoulder, she whips around ready to attack only to halt when Chloe stands opposite her. Breathing heavily, she stares into her blue eyes before being pulled into a hug. Over the redhead's frame, is the dark-haired one laying on the floor, liquid oozing from its left eye.
Gripping the shaking girl tighter, Beca lets her head fall to rest on Chloe's shoulder.
XxX
Stumbling their way out from the Bella's house, Beca's gaze falls to the Trebles adjacent to the building. Inhaling deeply, she brings a hand up rubbing harshly at her eyes before letting them fall to her sides. The fabric of her shirt runs along her arm, irritating the fresh wounds causing her to wince.
Chloe eyes her worriedly before catching sight of her arm from where the shirt rolled up. "Beca!" She exclaims, eyes widening.
Following the girls gaze, Beca lets her eyes fall, letting out a sigh. "I'll be okay." She says, pulling the shirt down making her eye twitch in pain. "We should-" She tips her head toward the truck.
"I'm driving," Chloe acclaims, her tone firm. Beca decides not to argue.
"Are you okay?" She asks once they're settled in the vehicle.
"What do you mean?" Chloe replies with a furrowed brow.
"I mean. Did you get hurt?" Beca further explains.
Shaking a head, Chloe replies, "No. I'm fine. That... thing back there had a pretty bad gash in its head, so it was an easy fight." She explains. Beca nods.
"Three gone," The brunette says, eyes cast down, sounding defeated. Chloe bites her lip taking it in, when suddenly something catches her attention. Squinting her eyes, she looks over to the Trebles house. She stares for a few seconds, before seeing it again.
Movement.
Gasping, she reaches over for Beca's arm. And it's only when Beca hisses does she retract it, "Sorry!" She rushes out before Beca can stop her. "But look!" She says pointing to the boys' house.
"What?" Beca says, shaking her head. "I can't see anything."
"I saw someone," Chloe exclaims, "I saw movement in the window."
"It was probably one of those things," Beca brushes off but is taken aback when Chloe roars the engine to life, driving them to the house.
Stopping outside the Treble's crib, she turns to her friend, "I'm going in."
"Please don't," Beca pleads. "Please don't go in. It's dangerous."
"Fine. Stay here."
"Chlo, don't-" A door opening interupts her, causing her to sigh. "Fuck sake." Following the girl, they cross over the driveway and up to the entrance.
Without thinking, Chloe carelessly bounces through the door, startling Beca. Stamping after the girl, Beca throws her hand into the air.
"Chloe, what the fuc-"
"Beca?"
Looking to Chloe, Beca narrows her eye, "Did your voice get deeper?"
"Not that I know off," Chloe replies. The redhead then catches sight of the figure over Beca's shoulder.
"Oh, my god!"
"W-what?" Beca eyes widen before turning in place.
"Benji?" She says sounding confused before her brain clicks into gear, "Benji!"
"Beca." He says, sounding relieved. Making his way over he pulls her into a hug before doing the same with Chloe.
"I missed you guys," He says with a smile.
"We did too, bud." Beca replies, grinning back.
"Are you alone?" Chloe asks suddenly changing the atmosphere of the room. Benji's eyes go downcast, which answers the question. Nodding, he glances back up, eyes flickering between them. "Just me," he says through a pained smile.
"Jesse?" Beca says his name, just for the sake of it.
"He uh..." Benji scratches his neck, "H-he never made it." He stutters.
Suddenly feeling lightheaded, Beca falls against the wall from losing her balance. Holding herself up, she mumbles out a quiet, "Oh, my god."
She knew it.
Beca knew he hadn't made it. Him choking her was a dead giveaway that something wasn't right from the very beginning. Pardon the pun.
"He uh," Benji voices, taking a cautious step towards her, "He's one of..." He shrugs, swallowing. "You know."
Taking a deep breath, Beca lets her head rest against the wall, eyes brimming with tears as she comprehends everything.
She lost her brother.
Worst is, he's one of them. He fell victim to their trap.
She sees Benji staring at her with a worried expression, so standing up, she sends him a reassuring smile to say that she's okay.
"Let's get out of here."
"And go where, Beca?" Chloe asks, beginning to sound deflated. Shrugging, Beca shakes her head, "I don't know."
"Actually," Benji says, bringing their attention to him. "You could stay here." He tells them, "I mean, how do you think I've survived this long?" He shrugs with a goofy grin.
XxX
"Please wake, Bec," Chloe whispers laying a soft kiss to her cheek. "I'm scared."
That had been an hour ago. Beca still hadn't wakened and it was beginning to worry the redhead. Since then, she had drove them far away from their former location, after deeming it unsafe.
Chloe was feeling more alone than ever, with her best-friend and long-time crush being knocked out and lying unconscious beside her and with a real-life Armageddon taking place, she felt so very alone.
She hadn't been able to contact anyone since she left her phone back at the party and Beca's phone was dead.
It was beginning to look like a lost cause.
Seeing the sun begin to rise, she pulls the truck into a quiet area.
Or what seems quiet.
She can't really tell.
Sitting in the driver's seat, she lets her hands fall into her lap. She feels her eyes begin to well up, so she frustratingly rubs at them in hopes of stopping it. And while doing this, a hand reaches up grasping hers and halting her movements.
Her eyes wander to the hand, following the outstretched arm before finally settling on the person's face.
"Beca!" She glees in shock before bursting forward pulling the brunette into a crashing hug.
XxX
"Nice place," Beca says stepping into the basement.
Benji had been smart, he barricaded the entrance to his "hideout" making it into a hidden doorway that only he could see and use.
"Thanks," He replies, "The Trebles had this place set up ages ago, I just figured it could be helpful in this situation." Gesturing to the couch, he takes a seat, Beca and Chloe following. "Ever since the incident, I've been hiding in here. A few of the Trebles had been with me."
"What happened to them?" Beca asks, ignoring light pounding in her head. Internally shaking it off, she focuses as he speaks.
"I don't know," Benji shrugs, picking at the lint in his sleeve, "They went out for a supply run a few weeks ago and never returned." He explains. "Flo actually was with us for a while," He adds making Chloe snap her head up.
"Flo?"
"Yeah," he nods. "She came to us for help so we took her in. And just last night, she left. Not sure where she went. Said she needed to check something." He explains.
Beca and Chloe glance to each other, gulping before turning back to him.
"Well," Beca says, running a hand through her hair, hoping it would ease the pain, "I think we should stick together from now on." She looks between the two.
"Definitely," Benji nods. "It's safer this way." He says. Suddenly he bounces up in his seat, startling the girls, "Emily..." He looks between them, hopeful. "Have you seen Emily since the party?"
Beca goes to open to speak, but instead shakes her head, "No. Sorry, Benj."
Benji's face falls, his eyes wandering to the redhead. Chloe looks at him apologetically before shrugging, "I haven't seen her, no."
Nodding, Benji stands from his seated position. Pointing to the other side, he turns to them, "I'll be over there," He says before telling them to ask if they need anything.
The brunette watches as he walks away, before sighing and turning back towards Chloe.
"I hate that he feels like that," She comments slouching back into the seat, "I wish we... could do something." She adds, her voice slightly slurring.
"Me too." Chloe says distractedly, her gaze landing on the younger girl and brows furrowing from the sudden change of voice.
Laying her head on the back of the couch, Beca lets her eyes fall shut. She feels Chloe's stare on her but refuses to open crack one open.
After a few moments, she bounces up in place, her hand reaching to grasp at the back of her head. Her eyes squeeze shut as she waits for the pain to pass.
It was worse.
Way worse.
Suddenly, a hand falls to her face and opening her eyes, she finds Chloe's worried looking ones staring back.
"Becs."
"Chlo."
"What's wrong?" The redhead asks, running her thumb along Beca's jaw.
"My head hurts," Beca explains, her eyes falling downcast. They then catch sight of her injured arm, the scratch marks peeking through under the shirt sleeve.
Chloe follows her gaze and eyes zoning in, they suddenly bulge.
It's only been 40 minutes since they found Flo.
"Oh, no." She mumbles low. "How's that possible?" She adds, bringing her hand down to Beca's arm. Grasping the edge of the sleeve, she glances to Beca before pulling it back.
Chloe can't help but gasp.
"B-Beca." She says the girls name, her eyes flickering between her face and her arm.
Beca's arm has four large scratches from wrist up, covering the entirety of the side. The scratches looking more like slashes considering how deep they are. So deep, that stiches would need to applied.
Chloe wishes the cuts were the only thing she was worried about.
But when her eyes find the sickly grey color forming on the girl's skin around the wounds, she falls into Beca's shoulder, sobbing loudly.
Hearing the commotion, Benji's head flicks up. He dashes from his seat when he sees the crying redhead.
He makes it over to them just in time before their brunette friend passes out.
XxX
"BECA!"
"WAKE UP!"
"PLEASE..."
"I'M SCARED."
XxX
Stormy blues snap wide open. She gasps for breath as they frantically flick across her surroundings. Everything's a haze. It seems like a blur that is until they land on a familiar face.
"C-Chlo?" She breathes out, trying to catch her breath.
"Oh, thank god!" Chloe praises, her hand holding Beca's in a tight grip. With her free one, she brings it up to land on the brunette's face. "I thought you were gone."
"I think..." Beca moves to sit up, only to wince, "I think I've heard you say that before." She says, laying back down.
Looking over to Chloe, she sees the girl staring intently at her.
"What?" She asks, with a furrowed brow.
"I thought I lost you." Chloe says, her eyes glazed. Leaning closer she frees her hand from Beca's bringing it up to frame the other on her face. "I thought I lost you." She repeats, a tear rolling down her cheek.
With a shaky hand, Beca wipes the stray tear away, "I'm still here. I'm never leaving." She reassures, before lifting one of the redhead's hands and bringing her lips to it, "I won't ever leave you. Understand?"
Nodding, Chloe brings her gaze away. It lands on the girls bandaged up arm. Following her eyes, Beca looks to her left arm.
"What happened?" Beca asks, not tearing her eyes off the arm.
"You uh, passed out." Comes a deeper voice, making Beca glance up from her position on the table, which she's only realizing she's laying on. Benji gives a sheepish grin as he makes his way over. "Your arm was pretty beaten up," He further explains, "Thankfully, we caught it in the early stages," He adds, sliding a chair over and sitting down, "And thankfully, I am a doctor in training." He grins.
Laying her head back against the hard surface, Beca lets out a sigh, "Thank god for you Benjamin," She chuckles. "How'd you manage to fix me up?"
"Well," He gazes to her arm, "It was a toughie. This was the first "Zombie Procedure," I've ever encountered. And being that, I had to be extra careful. Luckily, some of my supplies were with me down here, so I got to work immediately. I treated the wound just like any other, I cleaned it out as well as I could before stitching it up."
"How am I not a zombie right now?" Beca asks, sitting up with the help of Chloe.
"That's the crazy part..." Benji grimaces, pulling at his sleeve. "The only way we could assure the poison was out of you was with chemicals." He explains. "And the fact that you weren't bitten probably helps. You were only merely scratched."
"Makes sense," Beca nods, "So, did you pour acid down my throat or something?" She questions with an eyebrow raised.
Chuckling, Benji shakes his head, "Not exactly..." He trails off, bouncing his leg, "I mixed a few chemicals together which I knew would bond together to make a substance of some sorts, a substance that would hopefully drive out the poison. And seeing you awake, I think it's safe to say that it worked."
"So, what you're saying," Beca starts, "Is that you created a cure for this?"
Shrugging, he glances up, "For zombie bites? I don't think so, but for scratches? Maybe." He replies before quickly adding, "We don't know for sure, though. I mean, you could relapse into your previous state of unconsciousness."
"But for now, I'm okay?"
"Yeah. You're okay."
"One more question," Beca pipes up, looking between her friends, "How long was I out for?"
"Three days," Chloe alerts her, causing her eyes to widen.
"Three days?!" She exclaims with raised eyebrows before glancing between the two, "You had to wait three days to see if I'd wake?"
Nodding, Chloe's eyes find hers, "Yeah."
"Well," Benji speaks, tapping his leg, "You guys should get some rest, even though you've been sleeping for days, Beca." He smirks before standing. "You guys can take the couch," He says pointing to the comforter.
"Oh, no, we don't have to Benji," Chloe protests only to see him shake his head.
"Nonsense, you guys need to rest. Besides, I'll be on night watch up there," He explains pointing to the stairway leading up to the house.
"If you say so." Chloe voices.
XxX
Later that night, Beca and Chloe lie opposite each other on the couch. Both attempting the sleep. Both failing at said attempt.
The brunette's left arm feels a little numb as she sits studying it. Curiously, she picks at the edge of the bandage, pulling it back to sneak a peek under it.
The stitches had left dark red lines from where the scratches were, but what has her scrunching her face up, is that the surrounding of the arm is still a greyish color.
"Ugh."
Wrapping the bandage back in place, she lets the arm fall to rest, hanging off the chair.
Bringing the other up, she lays it across her face before shutting her eyes. She takes a few steady breaths, trying to even her breathing in hopes of falling asleep.
That changes when she feels a dip in the couch.
Moving her arm away, she finds Chloe laying alongside her. Furrowing her brows, Beca stares at her in confusion.
"Everything okay?" She asks cautiously, as Chloe continues her way closer. Nodding in return, the redhead scoots so she's hovering over Beca, careful not to hurt her injured arm.
"I just..." She begins, licking her lips, "Was thinking."
"Oh, no..." Beca grins, eyes following the movement. "That's never good," She smirks before tipping her head, "For real, though. What's wrong?"
"You almost... died," Chloe says, reminding her. "You almost died and I..." She shakes her head, trailing her eyes away from the girl below.
"You what?"
"I-" Feeling a hand on her jaw, Chloe's face is guided back towards Beca's and looking into the safety of those stormy blues, she blurts, "I never got to tell you how-" Stopping mid-sentence, she sighs.
Beca only blinks, her hand still resting on the girl's face.
"What?" She asks after a few seconds tick by, shaking her head lightly.
Glancing down, Chloe gulps before repeating,"I-"
After a few moments passing by with Chloe continuing to remain silent, Beca feels her face morph into one of confusion. "Chloe, just tell me."
She watches Chloe shake her head before moving to go back to her own side... but then she's halting in place, her eyes finding Beca.
It takes Beca a few seconds to realize that lips have suddenly landed on hers.
And that it's Chloe's lips on hers.
Falling into the girls embrace, Beca lets herself be endorsed with girl's mouth, lets herself become lost in it.
Mouths quietly lapping over one another, Chloe doesn't know how or when her legs were suddenly planted at each side of Beca but she doesn't question it, instead Chloe brings her hands to the other girl's face, framing it before pulling her even closer.
Pulling back for a breather, Chloe leans heavily into Beca, who wraps her free arm around her waist.
Neither say a word, they rather gaze lovingly at one another, lazy smiles on their faces as time ticks by slowly.
"Wow..." Beca grins, nudging Chloe's nose with her own. "Is that what you we're trying to tell me?"
Giggling, Chloe tips her head forward so that her mouth hovers above Beca's, "I've been wanting to do that for 3 years..." She admits, and then Beca's leaning up to captures her lips once again.
XxX
Sitting at the window, Benji grips his rifle close while keeping watch. So far, it's been silent. So silent that he's actually beginning to feel worried.
It's never this quiet.
He wonders what Beca and Chloe are doing and if he should go check on them but before he can, he hears something in the distance.
Sitting up straighter, he squints his eyes while gazing through the blinds. Suddenly they widen in fear.
He knew something was up.
Jumping out of his seat, he rushes down to the hidden basement and stumbling his way in, he hooks a thumb over his shoulder.
"We have to get out of here."
Beca and Chloe bounce up from their embrace, startled.
"Say what now?" Beca says, with raised brows.
"There's a-" Taking a deep breath, Benji points behind him, "There's a horde."
"Can't we just wait it out?" Chloe pipes up, fixing her top from where it rolled up.
Shaking his head furiously, he responds, "No. I wish we could, but not this one." Walking over, he grabs their two backpacks throwing them over, before packing up his own supplies.
Once he gathers everything he might need, he turns back to them gesturing for them to follow.
"You guys brought a truck, right?"
"Yeah, mine." Beca replies, following him up the steps.
"Well, we're gonna have to run for it," He says, quickly shutting his makeshift door. While he's doing this, Chloe and Beca glance out the window.
"Holy shit," They say in unison as they watch the massive horde stumble their way near the house. Hearing a click, they snap their attention to Benji who stands holding the main door open.
Rushing over, they each run into the front yard of the Treble's house. Pointing to her truck, Beca gestures it to them before they sprint toward it.
Making it, she rips open the door to the driver's seat. Feeling around for the keys she plucks them in before halting.
"Shit." Looking to Benji, who's sat beside her, she shakes her head, "I can't drive." She says, lifting her injured arm.
Cursing under his breath, Benji looks out the window to find that the horde had reached the Bellas house and in a quick decision he brings his attention back to Beca.
"We need to swap places."
Nodding in an agreement, they both hold each other's gaze before opening their door. As fast as she can, Beca stumbles her way around to the passenger side, passing Benji in the process who nearly crashes into her.
Hooking a hand around the handle, Beca pulls herself into the seat, watching for Benji to do the same.
The horde had made it to them quicker than she had anticipated and leaning forward, she sees one staring Benji down, blocking him from the driver's side.
Frantically searching for something, Beca grabs the nearest object from the dashboard in front, which conveniently happens to be Chloe's hammer from before.
Before she can leap out of the vehicle, a gunshot rings in her ear, causing her to stop.
Twisting in place, she sees Chloe leaning outside her window pointing a gun at the now limp zombie.
"Chloe, why would you do th-" Before Beca can finish, Benji hops into the driver's seat, igniting the engine before any of them can speak.
Suddenly a mass of growls is aimed at them as the horde stumble their way closer surrounding the vehicle, they grab and claw at the car, desperate to reach the three inside.
"Drive already, Benji!"
"I'm trying!"
Stomping down on the accelerator, the truck speeds off taking a few of the horde with it.
Hearing a screech come from behind, Beca twists around to see a hand claw at Chloe through the open window. "Don't shoot!" She calls back. "Here!" Holding out the hammer for the redhead to take, she watches her grab it before whacking the undead across the head. The creature growls still hanging on, so raising her arm, Chloe brings the weapon back down.
The zombie falls limp of the side causing Chloe to release a breath but before she can fully relax, she looks over to see Beca open her side door.
"Becs, what are-" Chloe stops mid-way when her eyes focus in on a zombie hanging on to the window frame, she hears Beca instruct Benji to drive close to the sidewalk and nearing a lamp post, Beca pushes the door fully open smashing the creature into it.
Leaning around the door, Beca hangs out glancing back to see the zombie attempt to crawl after them. Making sure she's hanging on, she lifts a hand to flip it off, "Bye bye, bitch!"
XxX
"Any idea as to where we're going?" Benji voices later that day while strolling the vehicle through the highway.
It's deserted and Armageddon like and it makes their stomachs churn.
Sitting up at the sound of his voice, Chloe blinks before shaking her head, "No." Her eyes flicker to the passenger seat to where her best friend lies, Beca's head against the window as she dozes off. The redhead's gaze lowers to the bandaged arm. She sighs.
Beca's been through so much, she thinks.
She lost a friend, she's been injured physically and mentally, not to mention a near death from a sudden zombie attack.
The more Chloe thinks about it, the more she realizes Beca had been injured because of her. Every time there would be a supply run, Beca voluntarily went, stating she would be "faster," but the more Chloe thinks about it, the more she realizes that Beca was doing it to protect her.
Scooting her way over behind the passenger's seat, Chloe leans forward to wrap her arms around it, holding onto the girl.
From the side of his periphery, Benji catches the moment and deciding not to interrupt, he lets them be wrapped in their own little world.
Feeling arms around her, Beca's eyes crack open to find that it's Chloe's arms around her. Smiling, she leans her head over to lay a gentle kiss on the girls arm before leaning against the window again.
XxX
"Beca?" Chloe nudges the girl.
"Mm?" Beca mumbles from her slouched position.
"Do you..." Pausing, Chloe clears her throat, "Do you think Aubrey is still alive?"
Furrowing her brows, Beca sits up facing the girl, "I don't know, Chlo." She replies honestly. "Maybe?" She adds.
"It's just, she wasn't able to make it to graduation so I really have no idea what happened to her." Chloe says, her eyes downcast. Sighing, she picks at the sleeve of her top, which she's only now noticing is torn.
Watching the defeated girl, Beca reaches over to pick up her hand. Running a soothing motion along it, she catches Chloe's eyes, "How about we try find her?" She suggests.
"I doubt we could find her," Chloe says, "I mean, she could be dead." She chokes out.
"Don't say that."
"I'm just speaking truthfully."
"Look," Beca sighs, "What else have we got to lose?" She shrugs, "We have no clue where we're going so why don't we try find Aubrey?"
XxX
"So, we're going to the... Lodge at Fallen Leaves?"
"Yep."
"Why?"
"To find Aubrey, Benji."
"Think Emily could be there?"
"I doubt it."
XxX
Slouching down against the dashboard, Beca lazily taps at the buttons as she flicks through radio stations that give out nothing but white noise.
It's a lost cause.
They're tired, hungry and mentally exhausted from all this shit. Two months in and the earth had turned into a hell-hole.
And why?
They have no idea.
They have no clue if Jesse was the one to start this or if he had gotten it from another.
They try not to think about it.
They try not to think that this is their reality now.
Chloe had since taken over the role of the designated driver to let Benji get some rest. During this the redhead's gaze had wandered to the other girl.
"What's wrong?" Chloe asks, bringing her eyes back to the road. Swerving to the side, she makes sure not to run over the crawler on the pavement.
Huffing out a laugh, Beca brings herself back into a seated position.
"Everything," She says, "Everything's wrong."
And Chloe doesn't know how to respond to that because yes.
Everything is wrong.
"How far are we from the Lodge?" Beca asks after a moment.
"Um..." Chewing on her lip, Chloe looks for a road sign. "Maybe 10 miles away?"
Nodding, Beca goes back to staring outside her window. After a few minutes, she hears rustling come from Chloe's side and glancing over she casts a confused look.
"Sorry," Chloe apologizes, "It's just, I can't seem to sit still."
"Right." Beca says slowly, turning back. And awkward silence takes place causing alarm bells to ring out in the brunette's head and shifting around she raises both eyebrows. "For real, what's wrong?"
"Nothing," Chloe brushes off trying to sound normal.
"Sure."
"I'm telling you!"
"Sure."
"Okay, if you must know," Chloe turns to her, "We're running out of gas."
Snapping her eyes to Chloe, Beca gives her a dumfounded look, "Say what now?"
Pointing to the gas meter, the redhead repeats her words, "We're running out of gas."
"How?" Beca asks, looking at the meter to see that it is indeed running low, "Didn't we fill it up like... I don't know. Recently?" She chimes.
"Yeah." Chloe replies.
"Then I don't understand."
The meter was really low and if they didn't get to a gas station soon then they'd be stranded. And fuck no, could they let that happen.
"What are we gonna do?" The redhead asks.
Shrugging, Beca looks out to the road, "Go as far as we can. Hope that we find a gas station. I don't know, Chlo."
"And if we don't find one?"
"Guess we're going on foot."
XxX
"Benji."
"We have to go!"
"Wake up!"
"They're here!"
XxX
Frantically shaking at the brunette boy in the back seat, Beca attempts to waken him from his deep sleep. "Come on, Benj." She mutters, her eyes flickering between him and the window.
"Jesus, wake up!" She screams, slapping him in the face. Suddenly his eyes bounce open, they flicker around before they set on the girl.
"What's going on?" He asks, drowsily. Rubbing at his eyes, he sees movement from the side of his periphery and glancing there, he catches sight of the small horde stumbling their way near the car.
"What the hell?"
"We need to move. Car's ran out of gas," Beca explains shoving his bag into his chest. Opening the door, she looks back to him. "We need to run. The hordes too big for us to fight them off."
Absently nodding, Benji follows her out of the vehicle, his eyes squinting from the brightness. Seeing Beca make her way to Chloe, his picks up the pace and before they know it, they're making a run for it up the highway.
Every now and then, he gazes over his shoulder to see how far they've gotten. He curses under his breath as two seem to be fast runners.
"B-Beca!" He shouts, slightly out of breath. Catching her attention, he hooks a thumb behind him and following it, Beca curses.
Two of the undead had easily caught up with them, the others a far bit behind. Huffing out a breath of air, Beca raises her voice, "We... We need to kill them!"
So, stopping in place, Beca doesn't have to wait long for one to reach her.
Gripping her knife, she raises it up and just as the zombie goes in for the kill, she slices through its stomach. Gripping the weapon, she tries to pull it back but quickly finds that it's stuck within the guts of the undead. "Shit." She mutters.
The zombie screeches in pain and raises its bloody hands to grip at her but in a quick instinct, Beca kicks its kneecap, crippling it to the ground.
Her eyes zone in on the knife sticking out of its body and without thinking, she powers forward with as much force as she can muster and pushes the dagger right through its stomach with her dominant foot.
Watching as it drops limp to the ground, she doesn't take any chances and punt kicks the creature's face three times before taking back possession of the knife.
"Beca!" Snapping her head around, the brunette's attention is brought to her friends struggling to fight off one of the zombies.
The zombie itself was big, bigger than they were expecting.
Running over, Beca quickly fires the knife into the back of the undead's neck. Without removing it, she twists it a few times to keep the creature paralysed. "Hit it!"
Nodding, Chloe raises her hammer and slams it down onto the zombie's head. The zombie continues to frail about and shoves Beca away making her fly onto the ground, directly onto her left side. "Motherfucker..." She groans holding her injured arm.
Not letting it get away, Chloe quickly smashes its skull again with the hammer and this time it does the trick.
"Fuck." She hears Beca mumble, "We need to get out of here, ASAP." The DJ adds. Making his way over, Benji holds out his hand to help her up from the ground.
Just as he does, he feels the dampness from her palm and looking down, he sees that it's coated with a thick dark substance. His face scrunches up.
Standing, Beca shrugs. "In my defence." She starts, "My knife was shoved in zombie guts."
"Gross."
XxX
Later that night, the trio had come across an old shed.
Stumbling her way up the creaky steps, Beca stands outside one of the windows. Bringing her face to the glass, she squints in hopes of seeing through. After a few moments, she steps back. "I think... we're good." She says slowly, but it sounds unconvincing.
"You think?" Benji voices walking up beside her. "Words like that are dangerous in times like this."
"You don't think I know that?" Beca replies sounding a little agitated.
Shaking his head, Benji raises his hands before mumbling out a quiet, "Sorry."
Sighing, Beca brings a hand to her eyes and rubs harshly at them. When she lowers the hand, her gaze falls onto the redhead stood at the bottom of the steps.
"Let's go check this place out," Beca says catching Chloe's attention. Seeing her nod, she glances to Benji, "Take the lead?" She questions with a raised brow.
"Oh, okay..." He nods. When Beca holds out one of her knives, he carefully takes hold of it and just when he does, he hears her mumble a quiet, "I didn't mean to snap at you."
"It's okay," He assures with a small smile. Giving him a thumbs up, she taps him on the shoulder. "Let's do this..."
Reaching forward, she twists the handle. The door easily opens, and with her hand, Beca gestures for Benji to enter.
Taking quiet steps forward, he inhales just as he enters. Gripping the knife, he keeps it held in the air, ready to attack. Flicking his eyes around the room, he takes in from the small amount of light coming from the outside, that they're in some kind of main room judging by the ragged couch and broken TV screen.
Feeling a grip on his arm, he looks over his shoulder to find Beca holding a finger to her lips. When she sees him notice, she bobs her head to the side and glancing there, he notices that there's a zombie in the room beside them.
From then, he decides to follow Beca since she took the lead. The brunette, stands with her back against the wall. Peeking around the side, her eyes watch the zombie as it stumbles about and once it has its back turned from them, she sneaks her way behind it.
Smashing the blade through its skull, Beca grabs the undead before it can fall. It screeches so Beca stabs the knife into it once again and carefully, she lowers it to the ground to make sure little noise erupts.
Making her way back to her friends, she notices that they're no longer behind the door.
"Guys?" She whispers to the empty hallway as she creeps her way through. After a few moments of silence, she sighs. Suddenly a creek can be heard from behind her and twisting on the spot, she raises her knife.
"Hey, hey! It's me!" Voices the offender, which Beca comes to realize is Chloe. Letting out a breath, she drops the knife to the side. "Fuck sake, Chlo."
Shutting her eyes for a second, Beca feels Chloe grip her arm.
"Where's Benji?"
"In the kitchen," Chloe says, running a hand up the brunette's arm. Trailing to down, she reaches the knife and carefully takes possession of it. "We quickly checked the other rooms."
"And?" Beca asks, her eyes following the movements of the redhead as she places the knife back into her belt.
"All clear."
"Thank God..."
Snapping her head up, Beca suddenly thinks of an idea. Noticing the change, Chloe furrows her brow.
"What is it?"
"The zombie." Beca says. Moving away from Chloe, she jogs her way down the hall and back into the main room. Scrunching her face up as she stares down at the undead, she hears Chloe catch up and pointing to it, she glances to the redhead.
"I have no clue if it will work, but..." Bringing her gaze back to the zombie, she continues, "What if we set this thing out front? Do you think its scent would block out any zombies from getting in here?"
"I... don't know, Bec." Chloe says, folding her arms. "I guess it could work?"
XxX
"Are we sure this place is even safe?" Benji asks from the armchair as his foot taps along the carpet flooring.
Sighing, Beca lets her head rest on the couch, "Yeah, I think." Shrugging, she glances to him, "We scouted the house out and we've checked the surroundings outside. And since we've placed that zombie out front, nothing has seemed to pass by..." She explains. Shutting her eyes, she takes out a slow breath. Hearing rustling, she cracks one open to catch a glimpse of Benji leaving the room.
"I think he's a little on edge ever since we left the Trebles house," Chloe voices catching Beca's attention. "I mean, isn't this the first time he's left the place?" She says, mindlessly searching through her bag.
"Yeah, I think it is..." Biting her lip, Beca watches Chloe curiously for a few moments. "What are you looking for?"
"Uh..." Reaching a hand in, Chloe makes a small noise of victory, "Ah ha!" Pulling out the objects, she holds them up to Beca.
"Chocolate Bars?" Beca raises an eyebrow.
Shrugging, Chloe nods, "I picked up a few." She says chucking one at the brunette. "I wouldn't be surprised if our sugar levels are low." She adds, tearing the wrapper off and taking a bite. "I got Benji one as well."
Nodding, Beca tears into her own candy bar. She hadn't realized how much she'd missed the sweet taste until now.
Finishing the treat, she balls the wrapper up and chucks it somewhere in the room. Turning to face the redhead, she comes to find that the girl is already watching her. Furrowing her brows with an amused smirk, she shifts closer.
"Why are you staring at me?"
Shrugging, Chloe grins, "Because."
"Now that's not a real answer." Beca teasingly says.
Bringing her legs up and crossing them, Chloe turns to face the brunette. "You got a little-" Giggling, she brings a hand up and brushes her thumb along Beca's bottom lip. "-something." Her voice lowers as she licks away the chocolatey substance from her thumb while keeping her gaze on Beca.
Gulping from the sight, Beca lets out a breath. "Thanks..."
Not being able to tear her gaze from the girl, Beca finds herself slowly leaning her face closer to Chloe. Her eyes flicker between Chloe's crystal blue's before wandering lower to her lips. She thinks she sees them twitch into a smirk, but she isn't sure because suddenly her own have connected with them.
Chloe's lips are soft and gentle and just like before, she finds herself quickly getting lost in it.
Her body twists to face the redhead and her hands come up to frame her face pulling her closer. She feels Chloe's hands grip onto the bottom of her shirt before sliding their way up to the collar.
Sighing into the kiss, Beca pulls back with a small smile in place.
"You're amazing. Did you know that?" She says, barely above a whisper as her forehead leans on Chloe's.
"I'm that good, huh?" Chloe smirks. Her lips grazing the brunettes with every word.
Chuckling, Beca leans in again.

So, I wrote this ages ago and as you can tell, never really got round to completing it. I thought it would be a waste to let it just sit there in my documents, so I decided to upload it for you guys to read. Maybe if you guys liked it, I may consider completing it. Or at least create a better ending.

The Way You Make Me Feel
She wasn't lying, "I've failed Russian Lit three times so I could be a Bella!" was in no way a lie. Chloe Beale did fail Russian Lit three times. Obviously to be a Bella.
Right?
Wrong.
Yes, Chloe Beale loved being a Bella, glorified in it even, but she couldn't for the life of herself wrap her mind around Russian Literature. Science? Sure. Math? Yep. But Russian Lit?
Hell no.
So, here the girl was, all in her redheaded glory, sat cross legged on her bed with books and study notes based around the Russian language scattered across the mattress. Sighing for the umpteenth time, she looks up to the clock mounted on the wall and realizes that she's been studying for at least three hours.
She's barely learned anything.
"Great..." She mumbles low to herself. Staring back at her notes, she shuts the book over and tries to memorize what was wrote.
After a few moments, she angrily opens the book again. "Ugh!" Frustratingly, the redhead grabs the notebook only to chuck it to the end of the bed.
It falls off the edge only adding to her anger.
Falling onto her back in annoyance, she lets her head rest on the pillow beneath. Exhaling loudly, she stares at the ceiling in hopes of a miracle happening.
Seconds later, a light tap comes from the door followed by a soft, "Chlo?"
It's Beca.
"Yeah?" The redhead calls out, her stare on ceiling still.
The door clicks closed as Beca makes her way in, she takes slow cautious steps while approaching her friend. "Everything okay?" She carefully asks as she sits on the edge of the bed.
"Everything sucks." Chloe answers with a huff.
Chuckling, Beca looks at the pile of notes laying on the bed, "That's a little dramatic, don't ya think?"
"Not if it's the truth..." Comes from the redhead, who turns on her side away from the brunette.
Rolling her eyes fondly, Beca reaches out to rub a soothing hand on Chloe's back, "I'm sure it's not that bad." She assures. Suddenly, the redhead flips back around to look at Beca, startling the girl, "Really? Because this is the literal worst right now!" Chloe exclaims, sitting up to be eye level with Beca. The brunette watches as Chloe brings her hands to cover her face, "If I fail then I'll have to redo my senior year. Again."
"Don't get me wrong," Beca starts, bringing her hands up to remove Chloe's from her face, "But, didn't you fail on purpose the last three times?" She cautiously asks.
Barking out a laugh, Chloe shakes her head, "No, of course not," She answers before adding, "I only used that as a cover-up."
"What about being a Bella?"
"I love being a Bella. You guys are my family," Chloe looks to Beca, "So... that part may have been a teeny bit true," She says, a small smile creeping up her face. It's gone once she looks back to her study notes, "Ugh..."
Following the redhead's gaze, Beca gives the hands in her own a reassuring squeeze before picking up one of the notebooks. Skimming through it she glances back to Chloe, "What are talking about? You'll ace this dude."
"But I suck at Russian." Chloe says falling dramatically back.
"You don't suck," Beca reassures, chuckling at her friend.  "You're a hell of a lot better than me. That's for sure."
"Yeah, because you never made the stupid decision to take it." Chloe retorts.
"Chlo, even if I did. I'd be the one out of us that would suck." Scrunching her face, Beca's eyes glance left, "That didn't sound how I thought it would."
Her attention is brought back by the small giggles from her friend. Seconds later, the giggles turn into a full blown out laugh, echoing throughout the room.
Bubbling over in laughter, the brunette finds herself lying beside her friend after joining in. Regaining her breath, Beca tilts her head toward Chloe, "You'll ace this dude." She says, repeating her earlier words.
"You really think so?" Chloe asks, her eyes wide and innocent as they search Beca's for an answer.
"I know so." Beca states confidently.
Suddenly they find themselves staring at each other, both remaining quiet and just enjoying the momentary calm atmosphere.
Out of nowhere, Beca bounces up from the bed, "That was super cheesy..." She says making Chloe giggle, "You are cheesy," The redhead says.
"I doubt it."
"You are..." Chloe says, trailing it off before adding a teasing, "I know so."
Rolling her eyes, Beca lifts the fallen book off the floor, "That didn't even make sense."
...
To Jesse (7am): Dude.
To Jesse (7:06am): Dude?
To Jesse (7:20am): Jesse, wake the hell up.
From Jesse (7:23am): Jesus Beca, it's a Saturday
To Jesse (7:24am): Finally!
To Jesse (7:24am): I need your help, man.
...
Making her way downstairs, Chloe let's out a huge yawn while rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Stumbling her way into the kitchen of the Bellas house, she realizes it's oddly silent. Shaking it off, she continues to open the fridge door.
Minutes later, she hears footsteps come from behind. Glancing over her shoulder, she watches as Beca makes an appearance through the doorway, "Morning," She greets.
"Good morning, Beale." Beca says sitting at one of the kitchen stools. "How's the studying going?" She teasingly asks and lets out a laugh when Chloe turns her face up. "Great then, I assume."
"Oh, it's great alright," Chloe says, "Infact, I even got more of it to do today."
"What if I told you, you didn’t?" Beca throws in casually.
“Then I’d say, you’re out of your mind.” Chloe pipes back, equally as fast. She glances over to catch Beca nod her head, “You’d be right, then.” The younger girl says. “I’m completely insane.”
“Oh, I know.”
“Coming from the girl who barged into my shower stall...” Beca chimes in, smirking as Chloe sends her a wink.
She watches as Chloe grabs an apple from the fruit stand before making her way towards the door. “Off to study I go!” Chloe sings, tying to sound less depressed about it than she actually is. As she enters towards the hallway, Beca springs up from the stool.
“Okay, so fun fact...” She trails off, grabbing hold of Chloe’s wrist, “I wasn’t kidding.”
“Wha-” Before Chloe can even protest, Beca is pulling her along towards the stairway.
“I’m still completely out of my mind, but...” Tipping her head at the stairs, she says, “Go get that cute butt of yours dressed.”
Today was Saturday.
Today was meant to be a study day for Chloe. The last thing she expected was her best friend to drag her out of her room.
Who would have thought? Beca Mitchell willingly going out to the fresh outdoors.
Chloe felt like she was dreaming.
Which is why she was currently staring at Beca, eyebrows raised in disbelief as the two of them sat inside Beca’s car.
“An arcade?”
“Yes.” Beca tips her head, twisting so she could face the girl. “It’ll be fun!” She tries to sound encouraging.
“Okay, who are you and what have you done with the real Beca Mitchell?” Chloe asks, in all seriousness. She’s honestly worried that Lily has cast some voodoo spell on the girl.
“Murdered her in cold blood, and hid the body last night,” The younger brunette answers, snickering as Chloe rolls her eyes before being lightly shoved.
“Ah, there she is,” Chloe smiles.
“So...” Beca trails off, tipping her head towards the arcade their currently parked outside off, “Shall we?”
Giggling, Chloe nods, “We shall.” As she goes to open the door, Beca halts her. “Hold on, wait for just a second.” The brunette scoots out of the car, quickly jogging around the front. Chloe tries to keep her giggles intact, but fails as Beca opens the door to repeat her last question.
“Shall we?” She asks, holding out a hand.
“You’re such a dork,” The redhead laughs, her eyes crinkling at the sides as she reaches for her friend’s hand.
“I’m no such thing Ms. Beale.” Beca says, shutting the door after her and locking up the car.
“Oh, I think you are Ms. Mitchell.” Chloe says teasingly, pulling the girl along by the hand towards the entrance. “And just for the record, prepare to have your ass kicked!”
“Oh,” Beca raises her eyebrow’s, a smirk flying to her face, “do you speak to your mother with that kind of language?!”
Raising her hands in victory, the brunette looks to the ceiling, “That was for you, MJ.” She says while blessing herself.
Chloe looks on from the side, with amused eyes, a soft grin on her lips. She nearly jumps out of her skin as Beca lets out a, “I AM THE MASTER!”
“Beca, would you chill!” Chloe squeals, grabbing onto the girls arm. “And just because you were able to dance to Thriller, on easy I might add, doesn’t automatically make you the master.”
Scoffing, Beca brings her eyes to Chloe’s, “You’re just jealous.”
“We weren’t even against each other!” She replies in between laughter.
Sighing, Beca hands the controller over to Chloe, “Okay then, smartass, it’s your turn.”
Muffling her giggles, Chloe takes the controller from Beca, their hands brushing along each other, “I’ll show you how a real master dances.”
“Oh, please do.” Beca eggs her on, her eyes involuntarily roaming down the redhead’s body. When she notices herself doing this, she snaps her eyes back up to find Chloe smirking at her. And all Beca could do was gulp.
Suddenly she glances to the song selection and notices that Chloe is still on the Michael Jackson section. Her eyes widen when Chloe picks-
“The Way You Make Me Feel...” The redhead sing songs to her, a glint in her eye. She even selects the hardest difficulty.
“Oh, so that’s how this is,” Beca nods, her eyes looking to the side. When the first notes hit, she brings them back to the other girl.
And of course, Chloe is good.
Okay scratch that, she is incredible.
The redhead moves her hips to the song, copying the dancer on the screen. Her eyes catch Beca’s from the side and she gives her a wink before going into an impromptu dance move.
Beca’s eyes follow as Chloe bends low to the ground, her mouth going dry and when the chorus hits and Chloe flicks her hair bringing herself back into a standing position, Beca almost about dies. And it shows, as she brings a hand to her heart, almost falling back.
“You Really Turn Me On...” Chloe sings to her and in a sudden instant Beca fires the next line back at her, “You Knock Me Off Of My Feet...”
The song dwindles down to its end, and Beca feels like she can finally breathe again. Chloe struts her way towards the brunette, who’s leaned up against the wall, and smirks. “You okay, Becs?” She teases, “You look a little... flushed.”
Beca sends her a glare, pushing off the wall, “I need a drink.”
Chloe follows behind, grinning victoriously. When they reach the small vending area, Beca is fast to get herself a bottle of Mountain Dew.
“Seriously?” Chloe’s face morphs into one of disgust as she stares down at the green liquid.
“Don’t you dare insult my Mountain Dew.” Beca warns, unscrewing the cap before taking a large gulp.
“Okay, okay,” Chloe raises her hand in surrender, moving towards the bottles of water.
“Ugh...” Beca calls out, “That’s so boring.” She stares at the clear drink.
“And yet it’s ten times better than that sugar monstrosity.” Chloe chimes in.
“You sound like Aubrey.” Beca voices, scrunching up her face. “Don’t turn into Aubrey the second.” Suddenly she feels a sting on her arm, “Don’t speak about her like that,” Chloe glares, “She’s still one of my best friends.”
Pulling a Chloe move, Beca raises her arms.
“Anyway,” Chloe speaks, “What should we do now?” She questions, her eyes flickering across all the arcade games.
“Mini-golf?” Beca suggests, taking another sip.
Chloe lets out a laugh, making Beca raise an eyebrow. “What, you think I can’t play?” The younger of them questions. All Chloe does is smirk while taking a drink from her water. Tipping her head back, Beca gestures to the door, “Come on, Beale. I’ll show you who’s boss.”
Chloe stands astonished as Beca hits the ball into the hole.
This is the sixth time she’s got it, in a row.
Beca walks towards her, a satisfied smirk on her face. Chucking the golf club to her, “Your turn,” she says as Chloe barely catches the object.
Gulping, the redhead takes a few steps near the standing point. She can faintly see the hole from over the small bridge that is set up in the middle.
“What’s wrong?” She hears Beca’s overly smug voice, “You nervous?” She teases.
Clearing her throat, Chloe quickly shakes her head, “Nope.” She tries to sound convincing. “Not in...” Bringing her arm out, she steadies it before bringing it down to hit the golf ball, “the slightest...” She trails off, eyes watching the ball.
It barely goes through the bridge, before it’s falling backwards down the small hill leading to the bridge.
She sighs. A frown forms on her face as Beca falls into a fit of giggles behind her.
“Yeah, sure.” Beca says, walking up beside her. When she notices Chloe’s saddened state, she reaches over for a new ball. “Hey, I’ll show you how to do it.”
Chloe follows Beca‘s movements as she sets the ball in front of her. Just as she’s about to move out of the way for Beca to step up, her breath hitches as she feels the girl come up behind her.
“First you gotta get the stance correct,” Beca says, her breath hitting the redhead’s ear. She brings her arms around Chloe’s waist to hold onto her hands. “And your hand placement needs a little adjustment.” She uses her hands to fix Chloe’s on the golf club.
As she’s doing this, Chloe feels like she might combust by the proximity of them. Brushing this aside, she attempts to concentrate on the brunette’s words of wisdom.
“...once you’ve got that, all you have to do is pull back-” Beca’s voice brings her back into the moment, as their joined hands pull the club from the ground, “-and then lightly swing. Not too hard, not too soft.” The girls soothing voice says as she brings the club to the ball.
They both watch as the ball flies over the hill, through the bridge and into the put.
“Bingo.” Beca whispers, not moving from her position. After a few moments, she must realize their closeness and pulls back, missing the look of sadness wash over Chloe’s face from it.
“Thanks.” Chloe says, going back to focus on the game.
“Thanks for today, Bec,” Chloe says as they both return to the car after many hours at the arcade.
“You’re welcome.” Beca replies, giving her a sheepish smile when their eyes meet.
“Guess I’ll be going back to studying, eh?” Chloe voices with a sigh.
“Yeah, about that...” Beca speaks up, her voice sounding mischievous. Chloe catches on and snaps her head towards her, “Beca...” Her voice warning.
“Today feels like a day for ice cream, don’t you think?” Beca raises her eyebrows.
Chloe rolls her eyes and shakes her head, “I guess.” She giggles. Suddenly she remembers something, “When did you get a car?” She questions as Beca reverses out of the parking lot.
“Uh...” Shrugging, Beca replies, “I didn’t.”
“Don’t tell me you stole a car.” Chloe jokes, but lowkey worrying on the inside.
“That’s exactly what I did.”
“WHAT?”
“From Jesse!” Beca protests. “I stole it from Jesse!” She exclaims. “Jesus woman, calm yourself.” She laughs as Chloe stares daggers at her.
“Thank God.” The redhead falls back into the seat, “I thought you were going to go to jail. Again.”
“That was one time, Chlo!”
“Still counts.”
“Shut it.”
“Make me.”
And all Beca can do is raise an eyebrow at her.
Ice cream is great, Beca thinks as she scoops up another spoonful into her mouth, careless of the mess. She got herself a combo of mint, chocolate and vanilla. Something Chloe found rather odd.
The latter of the two was currently watching the other, a small grin peeking out of their lips. Chloe brings a spoonful of her strawberry ice cream to her mouth, savouring the taste.
“This is so good,” She hears Beca say, and she nods in agreement.
“You have such an odd combination there.” Chloe voices, tipping her head at the ice cream Beca was devouring.
“Odd but damn, is it fit for a God.” Beca says, making them both chuckle.
“You’re so weird,” Chloe says. Beca halts her movements, and instead points her spoon at the redhead, “That’s my line.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Chloe brings her hand to her heart, “I never realized we were bringing copyright infringement into this, my bad.”
Beca brings the spoon back to her mouth, rolling her eyes. Suddenly she catches sight of Chloe’s strawberry flavoured ice cream, “You know, I’ve never actually had that flavour before.”
“What?!” Chloe exclaims, sounding like she was just insulted. “How?”
Shrugging, Beca replies, “I don’t know, I guess I just never tried it.”
“We’re going to change that today.”
“We are?”
“Yep.” Digging the spoon into her ice cream, Chloe holds it up to Beca. “Here.”
At Beca’s questioning stare, Chloe rolls her eyes, “Come on, open up,” She says bringing the spoon closer to the brunette’s mouth.
As Beca opens her mouth to protest, the spoon is shoved into her mouth. “Dude!” She exclaims as some of the ice cream drips onto her chin.
“Oops!” Chloe lets out one of those sweet giggle’s of hers and brings a hand up to Beca’s chin, using her thumb to remove the ice cream.
Beca feels her heart beat up from the touch and fails to notice Chloe’s hand linger for a few seconds. Chloe brings the hand away, but not before licking the ice cream off her thumb.
Yep, Beca’s heart is really feeling it today.
It’s the evening when Chloe and Beca find themselves back at the Bella household. Chloe isn’t afraid to admit that she really enjoyed her day out with Beca.
The only thing that was on her mind was that the day as a whole felt very much like a date.
A date with Beca Mitchell; now there’s something that’s crossed her mind more than she’d like to admit.
And now, sitting beside the brunette in Jesse’s car, she kinda wishes this day never had to end.
“So...” She starts, staring at the house in front. “That was a nice day.”
“Yeah,” Beca agrees with a nod. “It was.” Running a hand through her hair, she bites her bottom lip, “Guess I should get this car back to Jesse.” She announces.
“Yeah-” Chloe trails off, unfastening her seatbelt. “Or...” Turning to face the brunette, she shrugs, “You could instead come up to my room and watch a movie?” She suggests, rather sheepishly.
Beca, who had been staring at the Bellas house, suddenly brings her eyes to Chloe’s pale blues. “Really?”
Reaching over the panel, Chloe unbuckles Beca’s seatbelt, “Yeah.” Smiling she tips her head towards the house, “Come on,” She teases.
And Beca feels her heart beat up once again as she stares at her with those big puppy eyes of hers.
Sighing, Beca lets a small grin grace her features, “But what about Russian L-”
“It can wait.” Chloe interrupts and Beca’s smile widens. “What have I done?” She asks, bringing a giggle out of Chloe.
“Alright,” Beca says, shutting the engine of the car off. “To your room it is.” She halts as the words really hit her, but shrugs it off and instead opens the door to her side. As she’s about to step out she feels a hand on her wrist pull her back in and a pair of soft lips land on hers.
She’s left frozen on the spot for a few moments and only when Chloe brings her face back does she snap out of her daze.
“Wha-” Seeing the beaming grin on Chloe’s face, she shakes her head, “What was that for?” She questions, feeling a smile tug on her lips.
Shrugging, Chloe replies, “It felt right.”
“Can we do it again?” Beca asks and Chloe giggles before nodding and leaning in to capture her lips once again.
Beca this time, lets herself get lost in the kiss. One of her hands falling onto Chloe’s cheek as the redhead brings her arms around her neck pulling her in deeper.
Suddenly Chloe pulls back a few inches, leaving Beca to chase after her.
“Not that I don’t love this, but...” Finding Beca’s eyes, she lightly cringes, “we’re kind of making out in Jesse’s car.”
Beca’s face falls as realization dawns on her, “Oh my god, you’re right.” She exclaims. Suddenly she’s out of the car, and at Chloe’s side in an instant. Opening the door, she pulls Chloe up by the hands, “Let’s go-” She says just as Chloe’s to her feet, but before they can move, she finds her lips captured once again.
And all she can do is smile into the kiss.

Smoke Clears (Part 2)
Part 1
You’ll never be alone
Even when your world explodes
6 months.
That’s how long it had been since you saw her at Aubrey’s party.
Chloe Beale.
The stunning redheaded ray of sunshine- the girl who was once your best friend no longer than 5 years ago.
Those days were the day’s you’d cherish forever.
You thought you’d never see her again.
You thought she hated you.
She didn’t.
And now, 6 months after the ‘Back 2 School’ party, she was once again a major factor in your life just like all those years ago.
She helped you get better.
You knew you still had much more to go until you became the ‘old you,’ but you weren’t going to give up. Chloe was by your side and that’s all you really needed.
Her support was what helped you so far in your recovery process, she was there while you were in rehab.
She suggested that that was the best place for you to go and deep down, you knew it was too.
You see... you’re not ashamed to admit to yourself that you once had a drug and alcohol problem. After Chloe had left, you gained so much money that you didn’t know what to do with it. Then fast forward and suddenly you’ve got millions of fans, your fame game skyrocketing and multiple awards to your name.
You didn’t know how to deal with it all.
Worst was, your best friend wasn’t there beside you.
The first thing was alcohol. It was the only thing you could think of at the time.
And it worked.
It started off slowly. You’d drink yourself to sleep every night to help ease the pain.
Then nights turned into morning and nights and then before you even realized, you were drinking just for the sake of it.
Next was the drugs.
You’d rather not speak much about that though.
When you told Chloe all of this, you felt terrible as she broke down into tears. All you could do was sit there, with the feeling of regret in your gut.
She pulled you into a hug and held you tight.
That was 4 months ago.
Chloe had stayed true to her word and never left your side. She had moved into your apartment after you asked if she wanted to. She even went as far to cleaning up the place and redesigning a few of the rooms.
It was small, but as she did that, you felt like maybe things were going to be okay. You still do.
6 months ago, you felt lost. You were lonely, miserable, depressed and at times even suicidal. (though you hated to admit it)
Your career couldn’t have been better, but you... you were at your worst.
Until you found Chloe again.
You’re so thankful she showed up, and just in the nick of time as you don’t know what could have happened had she not been at that party.
Some your friends had noticed a major difference in you. Jesse had mentioned how happy you’d been looking recently. Aubrey had congratulated you on quitting smoking.
And Chloe... Chloe had just smiled at you every day.
She was your light at the end of the tunnel and you couldn’t have been more grateful for her. You still don’t know what you did to deserve such a caring friend. You don’t think you ever will.
But 6 months later, the girl was to your left, tucked into your side as the two of you watched multiple reruns of Friends. She had a smile on her face, and so did you.
You pulled her in close, giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead.
“I love you." You heard yourself whisper.
Chloe had frozen and you felt slightly panicked.
But that washed away as she tilted her head up towards you, a grin peeking at the side of her mouth.
“I love you too.” She had responded before leaning up to capture your lips in hers.
And in that moment, you really, truly knew that everything was going to be okay. You had your best friend back; your soulmate and you couldn’t have been more at peace.
For the first time in years, you were actually enjoying life once again.
And it was all thanks to Chloe Beale.
‘Cause after all the smoke clears
...I will be right here

Smoke Clears
“You and I, against the world”
That’s what you told me
You remember feeling rather excited for this night.
Your long-time friend, Aubrey, sent you the invitation to a ‘Back 2 School’ party, and you felt yourself become giddy inside.
Even at your 27-year-old self, you still felt butterflies thinking about her.
Beca Mitchell.
Your first thought was, ‘that can’t be her.’
You thought your eyes were deceiving you as they landed on her figure, leaning against the bar with a beer in hand.
She looked... drained.
Her eyes then fell on you and you felt yourself gasp.
Her once, full of life stormy blues were dull, and red-rimmed with dark undertones. And as she reached up to take a swig from her drink, you watched as her hand shook.
You felt yourself taking slow steps towards her.
You remembered hearing about all the news surrounding, “DJ Mitchell,” and you chose to ignore it. Knowing (hoping) that none of it was true.
You knew Beca.
Or so you thought.
The Beca you knew, didn’t drink excessively while partying every night.
The Beca you knew didn’t smoke pot on the regular and god knows what else.
The Beca you knew, back in your late teens, didn’t smoke period.
Your eyes caught with hers, and you felt tears brimming at the edge of your own and before you knew it, you had wrapped your arms around her, pulling her in tight.
You think a breathy, “Beca,” came from you, but you can’t be sure. You just remember pulling back to see that lopsided grin on her face that you always loved.
The Beca you knew, wasn’t as pale as a ghost.
The Beca you knew, was full of life and ready to fight.
The Beca you once knew wasn’t standing in front of you.
DJ Mitchell was the person facing you. Not Beca.
“What happened to you?” You found yourself asking later that night as you and the DJ sensation were on the back-patio steps of the building. She had a cigarette in her hand.
“What sort of question is that?” Beca had fired back.
“Becs.” You threw out the old nickname, catching her attention. When she faced you, you watched as her features changed before landing on one of deep remorse.
“Chlo...” She paused, staring down at the cigarette. “I don’t know.” She answered, honestly. Throwing the cigarette away, she slumped back onto the steps. “I think I’ve lost myself.” She admitted, and you felt your heart aching for her. And reaching out, you rubbed soothing circles onto her back.
Then suddenly you felt yourself stiffen as she said in a quiet tone.
“You left.”
You couldn’t bring yourself to look her in the eye.
“Y-you left out of nowhere- and I started making a name for myself but you left and I...”
“I’m sorry,” You remember cutting her off before she rambled on. “I’m so sorry, Becs.” You felt tears forming in your eyes and you tried to push them aside. “I didn’t mean to leave but- but...”
“But what?” Beca interrupted, staring you down. “Why did you leave me Chloe?” She then asked, sounding tired.
Had this been any other person, you would have made up a lie.
But this was Beca.
So, you decided to tell her the truth.
“Chris... Chris died.” You said to her. As much as it hurt to say it, you had to. Beca deserved to know why you left.
As you glanced at her, you found her staring back with a blank expression.
“You never heard?” You asked. Beca shook her head. “N-no...” She replied. She glanced down, "Chloe, I didn’t know. No one... No one told me.”
“Well he did. Overseas. Mom called me and asked if I could fly back home for the funeral. And once I was home, I couldn’t bring myself to come back, so I stayed.” You explained.
It was really tough on your family. Chris had been 24 when he’d been shot fighting overseas in Afghanistan. The army he served had sent his body back over to your home state for the funeral.
You couldn’t bring yourself to tell Beca.
You’re not sure why.
Maybe it was because she was living the high life as an upcoming DJ superstar and you didn’t want to be a downer.
But who knows...?
You watched Beca lean her head onto her hands.
“I thought you hated me.” She said after a few moments. “I thought I did something wrong to upset you and that’s why you left.” She admitted. “And then I was making a name for myself and earning so much money that I started to just drink to forget about you.”
It was a stab to the heart, hearing her say those words. You never wanted her to feel that way. You never hated her. And you never would.
You wonder if you had just told her why you left, would she have ended up like this?
“Oh my god...” She sighed, her hands falling to rest on her lap. “Oh my god.” She repeated sounding slightly panicked, she reached out for the bottle beside her- her hands shaking in the process.
But before she could take hold of it, you grasped her hand in yours.
Beca’s eyes shot up to you, tired and drained looking.
“Chloe...” Her eyes began to well up. “I don’t like the way I’m living.” She said, her eyes falling to your joined hands. “I’m scared.” Her lips were trembling.
Seeing her like that caused your own tears to flow. Holding onto her hand tightly, you squeezed. “Becs, we’re gonna get you through this, okay?”
“We?”
“Yes,” You nodded. “We. I’m not going anywhere again.” You said, a soft smile on your face.
Beca nodded.
“You and I?”
Pulling her into a hug, you pressed a kiss into the crook of her neck.
“Against the world...”
And I know you meant it
Holding my hand so tight

Feelings
Beca shrugged her way into the small studio apartment that she shared with her two best friends, Fat Amy and Chloe. The pair were Beca’s former teammates back in Barden as they competed in acapella competitions, and now they were living together after their time in college.
To say life was going terribly, would be an understatement.
Beca was struggling to make a name for herself in the music world.
Chloe was struggling to make it as a vet.
And Amy... well, struggling wasn’t really her thing. But being unemployed was.
With all this, Beca was left being the main ‘money maker’ of the house, which was incredibly stressful for her as she tried to keep them afloat. Chloe also provided with income, as she was working part time at a local café.
Speaking of which, Beca glanced down at her phone. 5:55pm it read, which meant Chloe would soon be home from her shift at the café. Amy wouldn’t probably be back until late that night, Beca guessed.
Yawning from the tiring day of work, Beca shuffled the scarf off from around her neck, setting it on the side chair with her bag, before falling onto the small fold out bed she and Chloe shared.
She felt herself dozing off as she laid staring at the ceiling and no sooner had she done that, she felt the bed dip beside her.
Mumbling at the interruption, she turned around to lay on her side in hopes of ignoring the presence beside her.
“Beca...” Chloe cooed into her ear leaning over her. The redhead smiled watching the shorter girl huff. “Come on,” She eased, tapping her shoulder, “Wake up or you won’t sleep later.” She said before pulling back to set her bag beside the bed, slipping her shoes off in the process. She shrugged her jacket off and made her way towards the small kitchen.
“What are we thinking tonight?” She asked to Beca, who was slowly sitting up into a seated position. Glancing over her shoulder, Chloe saw her shrug. “Pizza it is.” Chloe said, taking out a few bottles of water. “Catch!” She called over to Beca, throwing one at her.
Beca only registered what she said a second too late as a bottle collided with her stomach. “Ahhh” she groaned, her face expressing that of pain... and betrayal as she stared at Chloe, who was trying to hold back her giggles as she approached the bed.
“You bitch.” Beca exclaimed as Chloe shuffled in beside her. Chloe reached over to the armchair, grabbing Beca’s messenger bag and taking out the laptop inside. She booted it up, placing it in between them.
She quickly ordered a pizza for them before going onto YouTube to play some music. Specifically, from an artist she recently fell upon; Hayley Kiyoko. ‘Feelings’ started playing from the Bluetooth speaker Beca owned.
Beca had been messing around on her phone but she tipped her head up once the beginning chords played.
“What’s this?” She asked, leaning up to glance at the screen. “Oh, I’ve heard of her before.” She said, “She’s pretty good.”
“Yeah.” Chloe agreed, leaning back to lay against the head rest. “She was on my recommendation list on Spotify.” She explained.
Beca found herself concentrating on the song and she couldn’t help but let her mind wander to thoughts surrounding the girl sat beside her, their knees touching as they listened to the song. As the brunette bobbed her head along with the beat, she thought about how madly in love with Chloe she was.
But... Chloe could never feel the same. After all, Chloe was as straight as you could be. Or at least, that’s what Beca's been telling herself all these years.
You see, Beca had been falling for the redhead ever since she met her. Yeah, there had been the whole Jesse thing that happened in her freshman year but that ended before it could even become super serious.
Jesse was nice, Beca thought.
But... Beca had had this eye-opening revelation that she wasn’t as straight as she thought.
Okay, scratch that. She wasn’t straight, period.
Beca was gay, okay?
She figured it out not long after she a Jesse had become a “thing.”
Ugh. She remembers how it felt like she was dating a brother.
Gag.
Thankfully, Jesse had been understanding, leaving them still good friends to this day, only thing is, he moved across the country after graduation.
He apparently has a girlfriend and a cat.
Beca was happy for him.
And as Beca was having this little thought process, Chloe was having the same thing.
You see, Chloe here, also was madly in love with the fun sized brunette who was currently sitting beside her. But to the redhead’s knowledge, she assumed Beca had no intention of ever liking her in that way. Chloe knew Beca was gay, the girl coming out to her years ago, but there was no way that Beca was even interested in her.
I mean... she would have made a move by now, right?
But Chloe can admit, she’d been questioning her sexuality in recent months. Having always had a crush on Beca for what seemed like a decade, was like a big clue that she wasn’t as straight as she once thought. Now of course she hadn’t voiced this to anyone, not even Aubrey, deciding she wished to figure it out herself. But as she sat on that fold out bed beside the girl she loved so very much, she just wished she could grab the girls face and bring her in for a deep kiss.
But she couldn’t.
Right?
As the pair battled their own train of thought, they both failed to notice how they were staring directly at one another.
And that they were slowly inching their faces closer.
Damn, Hayley’s music was really doing something to them... She really is lesbian Jesus, huh?
Suddenly the pair snapped out of their daze at the same time, both registering their current position.
Yet, neither Beca nor Chloe moved an inch.
They tested the waters to see if either would back out last minute.
“Are you sure?” Beca heard herself questioning as her nose nudged the side of Chloe’s.
“God yes.” Chloe breathed out, heart racing as she inched her face ever so slightly closer to Beca’s.
“I’m gonna kiss you no-” Beca’s words were muffled as Chloe’s lips bounced onto hers. Their lips unmoving for a few seconds as they relished in each other's touch, before Chloe changed the angle, deepening the kiss.
Beca smirked into the kiss as Chloe pushed her back into the pillows behind, before leaning over her. She felt Chloe’s hands go to the base of her neck, playing with the stray baby hairs there. Beca’s hands warmed their way around the redhead’s waist pulling her in, so that she was completely on top of her.
And it was only when the song came to an end that the kiss did as well. Beca being the one to pull back, her eyes still closed and a smile on her face.
“Wow.” Was all she could say.
Chloe mirrored the smile as they both opened their eyes to gaze at one another. And just before Chloe could even speak, Fat Amy bounced in through the door with a pizza in hand.
“Oi pitches, thanks for the piz-” She paused as her eyes fell on her two friends’ current position. Shock was evident on her face before a beaming grin crept up.
“CR owes me 30 bucks.”

Beware is all I'm gonna say. Agents AU.
(Warning: Character Death & Violence)
Bang Bang, That Awful Sound
My feet carried me over there before my brain had even registered what had happened.
“Mitchell!” She heard coming from behind before Agent Posen stepped towards her. “You and Swanson take left; Agent Beale and I will go right. Understood?”
“But-”
“No time for buts, Beca.” Agent Posen interrupted sternly. “Now is that understood?”
“Understood.” Beca answered looking down.
While she was taking the gun out of her holster, she felt Agent Beale’s grip on her hand loosen. Moving her head to the side, Beca’s eyes found her girlfriend’s.
“It’s okay.”
Nodding, Beca brought her gaze back to the gun.
“I mean it.”
“I know you do, Chloe.” She said.
Relief washed over me as my eyes fell on her.
Lifting the gun, Beca aimed it at one of the guards before firing. Shuffling back behind the wall, she glanced over to Agent Swanson, motioning for him to take out the guard by the door.
Snapping her head to the side, Beca caught a glance into the ballroom. She counted 7.
They could do this, she thought to herself.
2 against 7.
They could do this, she told herself again.
Taking a deep but calming breath, Beca found herself rolling out to the side, shooting one of the guards before jumping behind the nearest place of cover.
Noticing that she was behind a pillar, she quickly scouted for a new location but it was too late. The guards had seen her and had now begun firing rounds at her. The pillar’s stonework began cracking and soon enough, pieces started to chip away.
“Swanson!” She called into her ear piece. “Backup would be very much appreciated, right now!”
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” He replied and low and behold, out came Jesse Swanson from the side. Holding a single hand grenade. “STAY DOWN!” He shouted towards her before tossing the explosive into the army of guards.
Diving forward, Beca reached out in front, desperate to escape the inevitable explosion.
BANG!
Suddenly she found herself being flung across the room from the grenades power. Holding herself out as she slammed against the tiled flooring, she felt a crack come from her wrist.
“F-fuck,” She stuttered, pushing herself to lay against the nearest wall. Her face was covered in dust from the stonework, and carried a nasty gash from her eyebrow right down to her cheekbone.
Gasping for air, she pulled off the black glove from her hand before rolling up the sleeves of her top. Her eyes fell onto the bone that stuck out from her wrist.
Wincing in pain, her eyes suddenly snapped up from the rushed footsteps nearing her.
“You-” She wheezed out, “-son of a bitch.”
“I told you to stay down.” Jesse said. “Not run.”
“Fuck you.”
Jesse’s eyes fell on to her wounds. “You’re gonna need stitches.” He said looking at her face. “And a cast.” His gaze fell on her wrist.
“No shit Sherlock.” She grimaced, attempting to stand.
Jesse held his hand out, causing her to glance at him with a raised brow.
“It’s the least I could do,” He shrugged, a hint of a smirk on his face.
Rolling her eyes, Beca grabbed his hand before being pulled up with ease.
But as soon as she stood facing him, a gun shot rang out within the ballroom.
Beca watched in confusion as Jesse’s eyes widened.
It only took a few moments before Beca’s gaze fell onto the figure standing over his shoulder.
In a quick movement, she grabbed the gun from Jesse’s holster before firing 4 shots at the guard.

He fell to the ground with a thump.
Beca dropped the gun as her attention fell back to her friend, who slumped against her. Her eyes watered from the pain emitting from her wrist but she pushed through it, easing Jesse onto the floor.
“Be-” He stammered. “Beca-” He blinked, gasping for air.
“It’s okay.” She reassured, keeping her good hand held under the wound. “You’re gonna be okay.” She repeated.
“Mitchell, report.” Came from her earpiece.
“A-Aubrey?” She stuttered. Clearing her throat, she glanced back down at Jesse, who’s face had paled slightly.
“Report Mitchell.”
“Jesse... He’s-” Pausing, Beca let out a breath. “Get CR in here. Now!”
“What happened?”
“Get her here!”
“What happened, Beca?”
“He’s down and if you don’t get Cynthia here right now, he may not make it!” She snapped, watching as Jesse’s eyes began to droop. Lightly tapping him on the face, she watched as they blinked back open.
“Hey, hey... Eyes on me, Jess.” She said, staring at him. “Stay with me, man.”
“It hurts...” He whispered.
“You’re gonna be fine, buddy. CR’s on her way. Don’t worry.”
It was almost as if time itself had paused.
“Go!” Chloe said, pushing Aubrey towards the van. “He needs you!”
“Chloe, we’re calling this mission off!” Aubrey exclaimed, ignoring her.
“No!” The redhead snapped. “This needs to be done!” Pushing at the blonde again, she pointed towards the vehicle. “He needs you Aubrey.” She repeated.
Taking a few shaky breaths, Aubrey glanced behind her before nodding.
“But be careful Chloe.” She said pulling her into a tight hug.
“I will.”
Turning on the spot, Chloe pulled the hood up over her head before running her way back inside. She immediately was greeted by Beca, who wrapped an arm around her waist before pulling her in  close.
“Wha-” Before she could finish, a loud bang emitted from the room beside them. Her eyes fell onto the stormy blues of her girlfriends, which were larger than usual. “Thanks,” She heard herself say.
Nodding, Beca pulled back. Suddenly, she found her head snapping up to the redhead. “What are you doing here?”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s too dangerous!” She answered, flailing her hands around. She grimaced from the pain coming from her broken wrist.
“Why didn’t you go back?” Chloe found herself asking.
“There’s others in here.” Beca said, quickly glancing behind the wall. “Benji, Donald, Stacie, Flo...” She listed, absentmindedly. “I couldn’t leave them behind.”
“But you’re hurt.”
“Not to the point where I can't wal-” Halting, Beca lifted a finger to motion for them to be quiet as she heard footsteps.
Chloe fell beside her as they listened.
“What the fuck is going on in here?”
“I’m not entirely sure-”
“Well figure it out!”
Taking a peek behind the wall, Beca watched as Tom Davis held a guard by the neck.
“Fix this mess!”
And with that Tom pushed the guy aside.
“We should kill him.” Beca said, turning to Chloe who shook her head.
“No. We should bring him back, interrogate him.” She said.
Suddenly the guard from before made an entrance, but not for long as Chloe reached for the knife in her belt, and stabbing him in the neck.
Beca stood with her back against the wall, her eyes flickering between the dead man and her girlfriend.
“Good swing, babe.”
“Come on.” Chloe grabbed her hand, dragging her away from the scene.
As they neared the end of the hallway, gunshots could be heard firing from the next room. Sighing, Beca detangled their hands before taking out her own gun. Chloe doing the same.
Kicking the door open, they both raised their weapons shooting at whoever came their way. Guards left, right and centre flung themselves at them, but had no such luck.
Deeming that their own luck was to run out anytime soon, Beca quickly hid them behind a broken table, occasionally glancing over the top.
“What do we do now?” She heard Chloe asking from her side. The redhead was currently loading up on her next round of bullets.
“I don’t know.” Beca answered, making Chloe halt.
“Well, what was your plan earlier?”
“I didn’t think of one.” She answered truthfully, firing a bullet at the guard who dived over their table.
“Fuck sake.” She heard Chloe mumble.
“I love you...”
“Come on!” Beca screamed, ushering Benji and the remaining survivors of her team towards the entrance. “Amy is waiting outside!” She called out.
When they all made it out, she watched as each wounded member climbed into the van.
Benji
Stacie
Donald (who held Tom Davis in handcuffs)
Flo
Bumper
Chlo-
Beca’s eyes widened.
“Chloe?!” She called out. Hoping to hear a “Beca?” in return.
Her heart sank as she heard nothing. Her eyes then fell onto the building behind.
The building in which they placed an ‘improvised bomb’ in.
“Chlo...”
Rushing towards the building as quickly as she could, Beca almost busted through the front door. Not caring about the guards that could shoot at her, she sprinted around calling out the name of her girlfriend.
“CHLOE!” She tried once again. “WHERE ARE YOU!”
It was in that moment, while running around a corner that she collided with another body. Assuming it was a guard, she reached up to swipe at them only to pause when her eyes hitched onto bright blues.
“Chloe...” She let out a relieved sigh, pulling her into a hug.
She got a gasp in return and pulling back, Beca was met with blood on her hands. Her eyebrows furrowed as she shook her head. “Wha-”
“Beca?”
Tipping her head up, Beca’s eyes zoned in on the wounds fluttered around the redhead’s stomach.
“NO!” Reaching forward, Beca caught Chloe just before she tumbled backwards.
“Bec?”
Feeling her eyes water up, Beca brought her gaze back to the redheads. Those bright blues that she loved so much, stared back at her, wide with fear.
“B-beca?”
Beca found herself choking over words as she tried to place the right ones.
“B...Bec-”
And almost as if she shifter into gear, Beca began to ease Chloe fully into her arms. “I got you.” She said, half in a daze. The broken wrist now forgotten as she stumbled her way towards the door, carrying the girl bridal style.
She refused to acknowledge the blood dripping onto the tiled floor.
Kicking the door open, she found herself almost tripping as they stepped into the starry air of the night.
Rain began to drip onto their heads as they neared the van.
“H-HELP!” Beca called out to whoever could hear.
“B..ec?”
Stopping at the van, Beca fell to her knees easing Chloe onto the padded grass floor. Her eyes flickering between Chloe’s as they lazily tried to stay open.
“You stay with me Chloe!” Beca demanded, cradling Chloe’s head in her lap. “Stay with me Chlo!” Feeling tears fall onto her cheeks, Beca snapped her head back up. “SOMEBODY GET HELP ALREADY!”
Feeling the faintest of touches on her arm, Beca’s eyes automatically fell back to her girlfriends.
“I..I-” Chloe tried. “...love... yo-”
Her heart had stopped. And in that moment, I think mine did too.

Pitch Perfect 4?
Now all of this could be a misunderstanding, and maybe I've read to much into it. But hear me out.
Pitch Perfect 4... could it really be happening? Well, evidence proves that maybe, just maybe, there's a slight chance of it happening. (but just to be clear, it most likely isn't)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These pictures could mean a PP4 is in the horizon, right? But then again, maybe it's just because there are 4 people in the picture. That being said, Brittany has dyed her hair back to red and there was that #bellabootcamp2019 debate thing happening a while back. And then Britt is set to direct a film, that has yet to be announced, soon, right?
Now I don't know about you, but, to me this screams PP4 a little.
BUT, I could be wrong. I most likely am wrong.

Knowing that it most likely won't happen, but still patiently waiting for a PP4 announcement.
