Chapters: 16/? Fandom: Original Work Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Original Male Character/Original Male Character Characters: Original Characters, John Rook (Stone Tape), Benjamin Salazar (Stone Tape), Abel (Stone Tape), Hugo Payne (Stone Tape), Riley James (Stone Tape) Additional Tags: POV Multiple, Small Towns, Horror, Supernatural Elements, Implied/Referenced Sexual Assault, Angst and Hurt/Comfort, Explicit Sexual Content, Trauma, collaborative writing, Paranormal, Werewolves, Witchcraft, Psychic Abilities, Demonic Possession Summary:
The Stone Tape theory is the speculation that [...] mental impressions during emotional or traumatic events can be projected in the form of energy, "recorded" onto rocks and other items and "replayed" under certain conditions.
Elena Salazar has been missing for almost two years, and her brother Ben has never stopped looking for answers. In his quest to find out what happened that night two summers ago, he uncovers secrets about her past that pull back the curtain of shadows laying over the mundane world, putting his own life—and the life of a mysterious stranger—at risk in the process.
The pressure is building, and a group of supernaturally-aware outsiders finds themselves drawn together through forces more nefarious than sheer coincidence as something in the forest outside Walton, North Carolina awakens, and the world descends into chaos.

HEY FRIENDS!! Today marks 24 hours until the campaign for this project closes! Please consider backing if you happen to have a lil extra and are into queer love. (And also want to read my story about sad Irish men and the gay fairies who love them.) Here’s a lil sneak peak of “Slán Abhaile”, which is featured in the mlm anthology, He Bears the Cape of Stars:
The rest of the countryside is desolate. Even the scattered houses miles ahead are shuttered for the night; no smoke puffs from their chimneys.
It’s a surprise, then, when I finally descend into the valley and hear the unmistakable sound of music. A light, too, flickering warm and orange from a fire, spreads over the dark mud under my feet. Like a beacon in the night, it grows brighter as I draw nearer.
I round the base of the next hill and see that a tent has been erected in the rangy grass alongside the path. It stands tall, gleaming in the light of a massive bonfire that crackles, loud over the sounds of fiddle and drum. The structure is draped in silks, resplendent in deep blues and golds and delicate pinks. There are people gathered here, dancing and laughing and casting weird shadows against the tent’s fabric. Looking at them makes my head swim, and I wonder if I’m drunk; it’s been a long time since three pints got me anywhere past tipsy.
How had I missed the sight of this gathering from my vantage atop the hill? How had the music not carried to me?
Now Live: Duck Prints Press's Third Crowd-funding Campaign!

Duck Prints Press LLC is over the moon to share our next to anthologies with you: She Wears the Midnight Crown and He Bears the Cape of Stars!
These two anthologies share a common theme – masquerades – and each features different kinds of relationships. She Wears the Midnight Crown contains 18 wlw stories; He Bears the Cape of Stars contains 18 mlm stories. Both collections tell myriad stories exploring how these characters’ relationships develop, grow, and change while they attend or participate in masquerades!
Our 36 contributors have stretched their imaginations to present innovative stories exploring what a masquerade can be…and, of course, tell rich, engaging tales of wonderful queer folk finding love, companionship, acceptance, the queer platonic relationship of their dreams, or the found family they deserve. The collected works feature characters in all the colors of the Pride rainbow, queer and genderqueer, and these diverse individuals inhabit worlds ranging from science fiction settings where everyone must be masked to breathe, to fantasies where no one wears a literal mask but everyone shows the world a false guise, to iterations of the real world where some people lean into deception.
In addition to the stories by our authors - including new works by @alocalband, @fpwoper, @erajakira, @jhoomwrites, @tryslora, @p1013, @dragonmuse, @unforth, @faerytaleonfire, and @owlishintergalactic (and many others, who don't have Tumblr accounts ) - our books and merchandise also include gorgeous art by @thefriendlypigeon (cover art), @aceriee-art (enamel pins), @migglangelus (bookmarks), @alessariel (our dux mascots!), and @reshipkmn (patch). You're definitely not going to want to miss it - you can buy one book or both books, some merch, or all merch - we've got 8 backer levels to help you get exactly what you want!
We’d love for you to attend the masquerade! Don your mask and read on…

Writing is not about 'telling an epic story' or 'making something that will outlive you'. Writing is about going "You know what would be fucking awesome?" and then committing word crimes

every time I see LGBTQ discourse I think about that post that said masc cis lesbians get kicked out of bathrooms as cruelly as trans people do so why the fuck are some lesbians transphobic , and I think about how homophobes won’t check for your sexuality before calling us slurs and I think about how my local dyke March considers anyone who identifies as a dyke a dyke because fuck rainbow capitalism we are here to fight for our lives and I think about how my best friends are bisexual and I think about how lesbians have been loving each other in ways that the gender binary has never been able to understand(and never will) and I think about that post that says the worst thing the right did was convince queer people other queer people were the enemy

It’s fascinating how some people dismiss smut as something frivolous, vain, lacking substance and therefore value. To be clear, sex is not (and should never be seen as) mandatory in fic, and I feel heartbroken that some authors think they need to include it in order to have their work read or appreciated.
But in my opinion PWPs can be just as deep, nuanced, evocative and narratively powerful as any other story. In fact, they make for excellent character studies and can get you inside a character’s mind in a very particular way. And smut scenes in long fics can be just as useful as narrative tools, often translating dynamics too complex to be explored otherwise. Plus, they’re great for sad horny nights 😔🙌

I'm seeing in the terf-o-sphere increasingly wild accusations that 'reading yaoi/BL/slash fic is making all the teenage girls think they're transmen!!1!'
What do you think of this? Is there any truth in this, and if there is, so what?
--
LOLOLOL
I see nothing is new in terf land.
To be honest, the correct response is "so what". If you think it's acceptable for trans men to exist, then it doesn't matter whether they're doing it to themselves on purpose via reefer madness BL manga.
Seriously. This is their bible:
Tumblr media
This is full on reefer madness level idiocy.
But to answer your question, no, of course not. BL has always been by, for, and arguably about AFABs with gender issues. Yes, even the cishet ones.
A few are trans men. A whole lot are nb. Masses and masses are bi and dealing with how that kind of queerness affects gender even if you're cis. Every half-baked survey and study and memoir about any BL-y space, Eastern or Western seems to tell a similar tale.
What do they think their trans sons are going to consume? Cis gay men's media? Cosmo?

So Sirius and Regulus’s relationship always makes me sad to think about. It’s kind of hard to articulate. Sometimes I can’t stand my siblings, but at the end of the day, I would protect them over anyone else. Just like with anything in the marauder’s story, it was just too little too late for them.
