Planning Your Costa Rican Vacation: Factors to Consider When Deciding When to Visit
Are you excited about your upcoming Costa Rica tropical getaway? If yes, then you must need some valuable Costa Rica travel information to make your vacation worthwhile. Read the post and find out more about Costa Rica.
Tumblr media
Introducing Costa Rica –
Costa Rica is magical, adventurous, progressive, and spectacularly natural. It seems to have it figured out all. With the “Peace with Nature”, the country is committed to sustainable tourism and making it carbon neutral. The tropical getaway welcomes all walks of life from everywhere around the world wholeheartedly.
Whether you are an explorer, a nature enthusiast or you are into adventure sports or just want to relax, the Costa Rica getaway will get your travel needs covered. The country may seem small in size, but it’s booming with exciting activities and has something new around every corner.
The natives call themselves “Ticos” and speak Spanish officially, but English is spoken in most places throughout the country. The Ticos are known as the friendliest people throughout Latin America and live by the saying “Pura Vida” – “Pure Life”.
Costa Rica has no military and focuses on education, health care, economy, renewable energy, and preserving its natural wonders. Costa Rica is famed for its extraordinary biodiversity and its wildlife, natural sightseeing attractions, and popularity for conservation. The country’s twelve ecosystems contain one of the richest concentrations of flora and fauna on the planet.
Boasting a temperate climate, Costa Rica makes it easy to get out and enjoy the scenic natural wonders throughout the year. It’s easy to see why the country is known as the jewel of Latin America. However, the dream destination has epic surf spots, misty cloud forests, wilderness, and wildlife to take your breath away. Even if it’s smaller in size, you can be able to enjoy a wide variety of activities within a short trip. Whether you need travel information on Costa Rica’s weather or want to know when to get away from the crowds, find out the best time to visit this amazing country.
High Season – from December to April
The High Season is also known as the dry season, but the country experiences some rain. This time is perfect for outdoor adventures. The beach towns welcome domestic tourists on weekends. If you are visiting Costa Rica during this time, you should book your hotel accommodations ahead of time as they will remain busy and some places will enforce minimum stays.
Shoulder Season – from May to July
This time is perfect for vacationers on a budget. The season is when the rain picks up and the stream of vacationers starts tapering off. Fortunately, for vacationers on a budget, many accommodations are available at lower prices. But exploration can be a bit difficult during this time because of muddy roads and rising rivers as well as challenging off-the-beaten travel tracks.
Low Season – from August to November
This season is the best time for surfers. This is the time when Costa Rica receives the highest rainfall. But the Pacific swells bring in the best conditions for surfing. Due to river crossings, the roads in rural areas can be impassable. The hotel accommodation and vacation rental prices can reduce significantly, but you should check before making reservations as some places remain closed entirely.
Bottom Line –
Do you need more Costa Rica travel-related information? If yes, then you should get in touch with VA Expeditions as soon as possible at 1 – (888) 803 8004.

Top 6 Water Activities to Add in Your Costa Rica Private Tour
It’s time to get wet! Costa Rica is famous for its watersports, and the best way to experience them is on a private tour. Here are some of the top water activities your Costa Rica private tour must include:
Free diving:
Free diving is a great way to experience the marine life and underwater topography of Costa Rica. To explore the diverse marine zones and underwater wildlife of Costa Rica, you can take a multiple-day PADI-free diving course. This empowering ability grants you the freedom to dive to depths of 10 meters (30 feet) on a single breath, without bulky scuba diving gear or air bubbles disturbing the view.
Tumblr media
Snuba:
Snuba is a mix of snorkeling and scuba diving, but no certification or experience is necessary. A scuba tank is placed in a free-floating raft and a pressurized hose is attached; this hose is your personal airline. The hose allows you to breathe underwater without carrying it around the tank. The liberating experience can be enjoyed by all ages and provides the chance to swim with giant mantas, eagle rays, turtles, sharks, and tropical fish.
Tumblr media
SUP Yoga:
Yoga fans in Costa Rica get a unique experience by combining yoga with stand-up paddle boarding. The classes usually take place in a protected bay area where the water is calm. Practicing yoga on a SUP board is fun and challenging; there’s nothing like doing savasana with the sound of the ocean ringing in your ears.
Tumblr media
Shark Diving:
Shark enthusiasts can find several spots in Costa Rica where they can dive with these graceful animals. The Bat Islands and Isla del Coco are two of the most famous shark-viewing spots, but there are other locations that support a large population of hammerheads and other species of sharks.
Tumblr media
Waterfall Rappelling:
Waterfall rappelling is one of the most breathtaking experiences in Costa Rica. Throw yourself down a waterfall and into a natural pool, surrounded by rainforest.
Tumblr media
Wind Surfing:
Lake Arenal is one of the premier windsurfing spots in the world. From October through May, consistent winds blow all day, making this blue lake a fantastic place for wind sports. Experienced and novice windsurfers alike can take lessons or rent equipment at two different launch sites on the lake.

Visit Palo Verde National Park for Bird Watching in Costa Rica
Are you looking for the best destinations for bird watching in Costa Rica? If yes, you should embark on a visit to Palo Verde National Park for bird-watching excursions. Palo Verde National Park is situated in the Guanacaste area of Costa Rica and is one of the most significant wetland ecosystems throughout the country.
Tumblr media
Palo Verde National Park boasts its own dichotomous character. Simultaneously, it is a spectacular wetland and one of the best examples of tropical dry forest areas remaining anywhere around the world. The dual nature results in flooding the Rio Tempisque over land located in a relatively arid climate region.
Likewise many Costa Rica national parks, Palo Verde National Park has largely reclaimed pastureland. The lifeline of the park is the Rio Tempisque River which swells seasonally and spills out over the region to create beautiful wetlands amongst dry tropical forest areas. The park is formed around 45,492 acres of the Arenal Tempisque Conservation Area and about 50% of the parking area is the wetlands. With over 15 different habitats within Palo Verde National Park like lagoons, grasslands, mangroves, and forests – the wildlife viewing opportunities are endless.
Tumblr media
Bird Watching Opportunities at Palo Verde National Park
Birds are the main attractions at Palo Verde National Park. That’s why Palo Verde National Park is a fantastic destination for bird watching in Costa Rica. The wetlands are filled with thousands of birds, making them a true spectacle of nature.  During the wet season, the flood waters of the Rio Tempisque spreads to form extensive marshes that welcome migratory birds from the Americas at the onset of the winter season.
As December through May-  called dry season in Costa Rica,  progresses, the marshes start shrinking and convert into isolated patches and pools. So, the migrants depart for their summer nesting grounds during temperate climate conditions.
Tumblr media
The park is home to over 50,000 waterfowl and forest bird species. If you want to see the wide diversity of bird species, you should visit the Palo Verde National Park during the dry season – from December to May. This is the time when migratory birds visit the park from the north to escape cold weather. Try to visit there during the deep dry season i.e. from March to April as all the birds concentrate around where water is left.
Palo Verde stands out as a migratory stop for over 60 bird species. Bird Island or Isla de Pajaros is a well-known nestling ground for so many bird species like Roseate Spoonbills, Water Storks, Great Egrets, White Ibis, Anhingas, Black Bellied Whistling Duck, Blue Winged Teal, etc.
Tumblr media
Though Palo Verde National Park is located on the banks of the Rio Tempisque, its remote wetland sanctuary harbors one of the largest concentrations of aquatic bird species in Central America. It is popularly known as the most important migratory bird site of the Mesoamerican Pacific area.

How To Plan A Luxury Holiday In Costa Rica
When you’re ready for some serious relaxation, what better place is there than Costa Rica? This tropical country is home to lush rain-forests, rugged mountains, and sandy beaches. You’ll find stunning natural beauty everywhere you turn. And if you want to get away from it all, you can always retreat to one of the many luxury resorts that are located throughout the country.
Tumblr media
However, planning a Costa Rica luxury adventure can be a bit overwhelming. With so many hotels, resorts, and activities to choose from, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices out there.
But don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with our guide to planning a luxury holiday in Costa Rica.
Tumblr media
First, you need to choose your destination. The capital city of San Jose is great for families who want to spend time together since there are plenty of museums and parks. If you’re looking for something more adventurous, try one of the many national parks—you can hike through the rain-forest or swim in a waterfall!
Tumblr media
In second, you’ll need to figure out what kind of vacation you want. There are so many different types of luxury holidays in Costa Rica to choose from, and they all have their own unique benefits. If you’re a beach lover, you’ll want to head to the Pacific coast. If you’re more into waterfalls and rain forests, then the Caribbean coast is where it’s at. And if you’re just looking for some good old-fashioned relaxation, then take a look at the many spa retreats available in Costa Rica—they’re sure to leave your body feeling refreshed!
Tumblr media
Next, decide when you want to go. Costa Rica has two seasons: dry (May-December) and wet (January-April). The dry season sees less precipitation than the wet season, and it’s usually quite cool during those months. However, it’s easier to book flights during this time because they’re less busy.
