This is an interesting read.
I shared an article a while ago that lists the criteria for a toxic fandom. Unsurprisingly, the ST fandom hit every single one - including the qualities that signify a dangerous fandom (doxxing, brigading, threats, etc.)
My engagement with the fandom is incredibly limited at this point. If anyone feels that they're wasting too much time on social media, their mental health is being negatively impacted, or they can no longer enjoy the show, I encourage you to just log off. Call your friend or a family member. Go for a walk. Watch a show or a movie. Clean your house. Play a videogame. Go to the mall. Do anything besides continuing to scroll and making yourself feel worse.
And please remember:
Stranger Things is a TV show. It's a work of fiction. The characters involved are not real people. The individuals you are interacting with in fandom spaces are complete strangers who you will never meet in your life.
It is not worth getting worked up over what a stranger says online. Your life will not be ruined over something not going your way in a TV show. Fandoms are meant to be fun. They are not meant to be a source of extreme emotional distress.

I was actually gonna make a post abt this, unknowing that you had already cus it’s always really bothered me
Being a heavy set person myself, seeing Dustin of all people be headcanoned as aro-ace NEVER made sense to me (AND IM AN ARO PERSON MYSELF) but he’s like…the most ‘girl crazy’ member of the party, he has always been, SENSE THE BEGINNING- and of course aro people can experience different sorts of attraction and blahblahblahblahblah but in general seeing people be like “the headcanon just makes sense for him!” fucking sucks
You wanna know why it makes sense to you?? Because you could never see yourself being attracted to someone like Dustin. To someone with a disability or who’s chubby, or heavy set or fat or plus sized or whatever word you want to use
A lot of people have the habit of assigning ace/aro headcanons to characters with “unattractive” features, or traits. And as someone with a lot of these traits which people deem “unattractive” (I’m neurodivergent, I’m chubby, I have acne and acne scars, I don’t really shave, I don’t connect with people well) it’s off putting. It feels like a slap in the face. It feels like because of these features I will always be seen as unattractive on some innate level
Think about it like this;
Does this character not experience attraction or could you just never see yourself being attractive to someone like them?
and if anyone wants the truth on what i said about the aroace headcanon and ableism?
this is it:
again: it’s never been about the aroace headcanon itself.
i cannot stress this enough: i do not care. i cannot police you.
what I’m saying: examine your biases. stop and ask why it’s the heavily traumatized guy or the canonically gay boy or the heavy-set disabled boy that get headcanoned as asexual most often.
there’s a thread of bias in fandom choice; all i did was ask y’all to examine it for a minute 💀
