luna loved medicine, she always had. there was just this desire to help people, to make their lives better, and they were on that oath. and they were going to be pretty damn good at it, or, at least that's what they believed. they were shadowing a doctor, and luna wanted to know everything about what jo was doing.

when they finally made eye contact, luna could instantly sense that she knew her, but she couldn't quite place her finger on it. "it's not just you," she begins, looking up at her. "it's like, i've seen you somewhere before. like you're someone i've always known."

favorite platonic relationships: gina porter and nini salazar-roberts “I'd say any guy would be lucky to have you, but that's not the point. Truth is, we're all lucky to know you.”

when nini moved forward, gina took a step of her own, trying her hardest to slowly close the gap between them. she hadn’t seen nini since beauty and the beast, and she honestly didn’t know where they stood. were they aquaintances? friends? something more? gina wasn’t sure. all she knew is that she missed nini, and couldn’t stand to be apart from her any longer. “i’m right here, and i’m not going anywhere.” she says, grinning at nini’s laughter. she could get drunk off of that sound, and she wanted to hear it for the rest of her life. “you’re not an idiot, nini.” she quickly says, following it up with, “you’re adorable, and one of the smartest people i’ve ever met.” one step closer, and gina was so close. just a little further. “i missed you more, i bet. this place is kind of weird, but it’s better now that you’re here.” gina was never one for small talk, she couldn’t stand all the trivial things that were said, and wished people would just cut to the chase. she knew they had history, that this small talk was inevitable, but gina wished that they could just cut to the good part, whatever that was. 

the warmth that illuminated from gina's features made her even more radiant than usual - it inspired nini to brave herself and step closer, shortening the distance between them by one minor foot. she could work her way up to where they could hug eventually. once she knew she could pull away and regain her sense of equilibrium. "i can't believe you're here," the actress kept laughing in tune with the contagious laughter that slipped from the dancer's lips, the sound intoxicating her. "yeah, i did too. i was bumbling around like an idiot for weeks." she told her honestly, glancing between them and - bam, one more step. she was making progress. "i've been alright. i missed all of you, if i'm honest. what about you? how are you finding this place? i know it can be pretty jarring." this small talk was killing her, but she didn't want to overwhelm gina. she couldn't ruin what was already, what she perceived, a precarious situation.

gina knew how to adapt, she knew change. but for once in her life, she almost had stability, then it was gone as quick as it came. but here? now? seeing nini in front of her? gina knew that her solid ground was slowly returning under her feet. joy shun on the dancer's face as she clasped her hands in excitement, trying to keep herself calm. "i'm.. i'm here. i'm real." she said with a laugh, pinching herself to make sure this wasn't some dream. "i can't believe you're here. i thought it was just me here." she says, letting out an awkward laugh. she wanted to hug her, to hold her and make sure that this was real, and that she wasn't imagining things, but she wasn't sure if nini would feel comfortable. so, she rocked back and forth on her heels, and spoke again. "how have you been? it's been, a while."

nini had been in salt lake almost her whole life — you could hardly count california, as she had no real recollection of being an infant there, and new york was a brief stint that she was, frankly, glad ended early. even if it meant she was sent into a different universe. throughout it all, though, there was one person that she was wishing on every falling star would appear miraculously one day. and when she heard that melodic voice ring out, calling her name, she could feel everything come together after spending so long scrambling for a sense of stability. "gina?" she returned, awe painting her features as she drank in the dancer's form. "i - i can't believe you're here. you are here, right? this isn't some mirage?" a small, disbelieving laugh escaped her lips.

"hi, ash. i'd say 'i'm maddox', but it appears we've met already." maddox says in response, giving her a wave. she knew this girl looked familiar, but she couldn't place it. this was awkward, maddox was awkward, and social interactions were never their strong suit. "ashlyn, that's a pretty name. your name is beautiful. not to say you aren't beautiful as well." they rambled, and maddox wanted to put their foot in their mouth and shut up. "i'm, not messing around?" they say, rocking back and forth on their heels. "have you, i mean, have we, met before? because i'm pretty sure i wouldn't be able to forget someone like you." god, maddox needed to shut up. this girl was beautiful, stunningly so, and they were only hurting their chances with her.

who are you? ashlyn could feel her rapidly beating heart drop into her stomach and dissolve, since it clearly at no where else to go, no one to hold it like before. "it's — it's ash," she said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. it should've been. but nothing was as it should be here, she knew that, however never in her wildest dreams di she ever think that it would lead to this. "ashlyn. you know me," she insisted with a smile that struggled to stay bright and carefree. "c'mon, maddox. don't mess around like that." they had to be messing with her. they had to be. it wasn't the only explanation, but it was the one that ashlyn was relying on the most.

despite moving what felt like a million times, gina felt like she was truly on her own here. no friends to keep her company, no jamie or mom around to make her smile. she was alone before, but now she was isolated. she had a little loft, but it felt empty without ashlyn there, there was no one to come home to. she used to think she liked being alone, but not anymore. she was sad without her friends and family. she kind of floated throughout washington, trying to find where she fit. she thought it was just another day of isolation, when she saw a familiar face nearby. running over, she picked up the pace, grinning. "nini?" she speaks up, moving towards her with hesitation. "you have no idea happy i am to see you."

maddox loved washington, loved their life here, and why wouldn't they? they had an amazing family, some annoying ass siblings who she loved, despite them getting on their nerves. there was something about the city that just felt right. as right as it felt when she goes camping with her family, as right as working on plays felt. but lately, something felt off. there was this eerie feeling in the air, and maddox couldn't place what it was. they were walking home, when someone approached them. with a tilt of their head, maddox looked at her. "yeah, that's me. but, sorry, who are you?" she asks for some reason, she feels like she knows this person, but can't quite place where from.

to put it simply: life in washington was hard. but ashlyn liked a challenge, so she took everything she could in stride and tried her best to get to know the people and the culture better, even if she was confused half the time doing so. she couldn't deny that while there were a few people from back home that'd miraculously shown up — there'd only been one person she wanted to see. and on a completely ordinary and uneventful afternoon, that's exactly who she saw: maddox park. feeling her heart leap into her throat, she felt compelled to approach the other girl, each step leading her toward who she believed would collapse directly into her arms. "... maddox?" she spoke up, a smile already eclipsing her lips, perhaps a bit prematurely as she awaited her reaction.

gina loved antique shopping. every city she moved to, she tried to find one special thing that was hers. antiques stores were like treasure troves to be uncovered, and having filippa by their side made this trip that much more important. she searched among the shelves, trying to find the perfect thing, when she spotted a rusty gold teapot amongst the relics. "what do you think of this?" they ask, holding it up so filippa could see, "too aladdin-esque?"
