Tumblr media
It takes a village to keep a business going and this store is no exception. All members of our staff are committed and creative individuals who do the absolute most for our customers on a daily basis. Without further ado meet our staff!
Rusty - Rusty is the owner of Uniques & Antiques and has been running the store since 2009. He creates all of the displays and garlands, as well as decorates all of the trees adorned with ribbons by hand. Rusty got into the holiday business when he first was entering college where he worked for The Christmas Dove in Faneuil Hall. He was originally a Pharmaceutical major in college, but later switched to Communications where he eventually found himself working for KISS FM Radio in New York City. The holiday business then followed him as The Christmas Dove opened a location in NYC where they asked him to create displays which then led him to being the full time Visual Coordinator at the Barrington, NH store, and eventually leading him to opening his own business in Perkin's Cove.
Jess- Jess is very much a caring soul in the store; she makes sure other employees feel comfortable, looks out for them, offers to get snacks for other staff members, and really pays attention to what you tell her. Jess specializes in helping people find what they're looking for whether that be gift finding or finding a specific antique, she always knows where to look. When she's not at work Jess enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons and enjoys camping at a local campground.
Emily- Emily always knows where she's needed whether that be finding order to chaos, assisting customers with gift ideas, or informing customers on aspects of the products, store, or local area. She's a creative and unique individual who has an eye for displays and organizing. When she's not at Uniques & Antiques she also works for Perkins Cove Pottery Shop, which has helped promote both businesses and connect relations between the owners. In the off season she attends college for Fashion Design with a minor in Creative Writing. On the occasion she's not working, she enjoys reading, creating art, and spending time with her 3 dogs and rabbit, friends, and family.
Elissa- Elissa is very knowledgeable about worldly locations, as she thoroughly enjoys travelling especially to Europe. She always has really good conversations with customers who are on vacation and knows where to point them to next. When she's not at Uniques & Antiques she works for Harvard's Adult Education Dept. In her free time she enjoys watching Supernatural and all TV Shows on BBC. She recently published her first Young Adult novel of two lovers and all of the past lives they've met in.

6 Helpful Gift Brainstorming Ideas
Tumblr media
Looking for gift ideas this holiday season? Unsure what to get?
Shopping during the holiday season can be a challenge in itself without considering your budget or time limit. Assuming you have some time left before the holidays sneak up on you, here are some helpful tips to helping you find the right gifts for the right people.
Think of What Qualities Come to Mind When You Think of That Person
When you're shopping for someone, as easy as it is to have the logic if "I like it, they'll like it" it doesn't always apply. When you're reminded of this person what triggers that thought? Did something related to a food or drink they like show up somewhere in your life? Gift them that food or drink or maybe some decorative or funny drinking glasses or kitchenware to go with it. Did their favorite sports team pop up somewhere and you thought of them? Get them some memorabilia or sports themed merchandise. Or did you think of them when a specific hobby comes to mind? Get them some supplies to support that hobby or something themed around that hobby like an ornament. Really stretching the boundaries of the influence this person has can help you brainstorm limitless gift ideas.
2. Sentimental Gifts Are the Most Memorable Gifts
Think of those events both good and bad that happened this year; Was there anything you could have done to help them? Did they just start a new chapter in their life? Did they just achieve something? Some examples of items in this category could be framed photos, money to help with expenses, items to help them with any major event happening in their lives, an ornament to remember an event or to let someone know they're not alone, or something you noticed them eyeing when you spent time with them last.
3. You Can Never Go Wrong with Necessities and Self-Care Items
Items like blankets, pillows, socks, calendars, foods, drinks, desserts, and self-care items like candles, and skin care products, never go out of style as they're always needed. Although any of these things can be mixed and matched according to what you think the person you're shopping for would like, sometimes thinking of what this person will do with the items helps. For example, if you know the person you're shopping for is stressed, try giving them a small collection of gifts that would help them relax. To name a few examples, perhaps a bath bomb, some wine, a candle, CD, blanket, and/or facemask.
4. Plan It Around a Theme
If you know the person you're shopping for really enjoys a specific activity, place, or thing, try making an assortment of gifts around that theme. For example, if you're doing a secret Santa at work and you know absolutely zilch about this person, try making a basket of items around something basic like a movie night themed basket. That basket could include popcorn, a DVD of your choice, chocolate, and maybe something festive like candy canes and hot cocoa. Or to name another example, say you know this person loved their trip to Ogunquit, Maine and can't stop talking about it, try making an assortment based off of their trip. To name some examples of items for such an assortment: a themed mug, an ornament related to the state or place, perhaps a gift card to use at one of the shops or restaurants in that area, and maybe something unique from one of the local shops in that area.
5. Gift Cards & Money
A lot of people would prefer money or gift cards over something they won't be able to use, like most gag gifts, but from the gift giver's perspective it can seem uninspiring or impersonal. That's why it is a good idea to pair a giftcard or money with something small or sentimental, or have the giftcard be towards one of their favorite shops.
6. Gag gifts
These are always a safe bet if you want something more tangible than money or gift cards, but know your humorous boundaries with the person you're buying for as you don't want to overstep any boundaries. These items could include a witty saying on drinking glasses, coasters, or napkins, or could very well be something out of the ordinary like a bitcoin themed ornament or something to make light of the pandemic.
Final Thoughts
Now that you have some ideas going, it's important to remember it's the thought that counts, not the item. No matter what you choose to do this holiday season, don't forget your values and what truly matters this time of year.
