i've seen people claim that ace exclusionism is inherently terf rhetoric. I was wondering your thoughts on this seeing as you are an ace trans woman? I personally think it makes sense but I'm not sure I'm qualified to think that (cause I don't fit either demographic)

Im a trans man, so I'm not the authority on this you think I am, but I do have thoughts from being active in the ace discourse community for a few years.

Personally I dont think ace exclusionism is inherently terf rhetoric, but I do think that being a hardcore exclusionist can lead to being a TERF, especially for cis ppl.

The entire concept of ace exclusionism is deciding that a group that is widely accepted in the larger LGBT+/queer community is actually just straight people wanting to be special. The community aspect relies heavily on invalidating people's personal experiences, making fun of people for identifying as this "fake LGBT" label, and acting as an authority on the group even without being part of that groups (or worse identifying as "technically I could use that label if I wanted but the community is too terrible for me to be that!") Theres a reason pretty much all TERFs are also exclusionists, and I've personally seen multiple people who changed their exclusionist blog to a radfem/gender critical blog.

This isnt to say every exclusionist is a TERF, or even on their way to becoming one. Theres plenty of transfem exclusionists as well who are trans positive. This is more to say that ace exclusion, like any exclusionary ideology, hinges on deciding the validity of that group as a member of the community that they share. When the community is also toxic and popularity is built on being a dick, it's not hard to see why a cis person who is less concerned about trans issues going down a rabbit hole or being convinced to care less about trans issues after following a more transphobic aphobe.

TLDR; ace exclusionism isnt inherently terf rhetoric, but both ace exclusion and trans exclusion communities do have some overlap, and it is something that should be thought about more critically

Happy Trans Day of Visibility, all!

I've not been on this blog for a whole, and it's because I've been busy, and also my phone broke and I forgot to redownload tumblr. An L, but whatever.

So a little catch up! I moved back to Arizona from my live in job in Texas. It was a welcome change but I wasn't too torn up when they decided to pit their kid in daycare. Unfortunately, this means I need to move !!! I cant keep living with my mom because she plans on moving somewhere I cant work, so when she moves (or hopefully before,, without getting into details it sucks here bro,,,), I move.

I'm trying to save up money so I can get a decent roommate situation*. Rent here with a roommate is about 500-1000 a month. Realistically I'm looking for 500-750, plus deposit, and I'm trying to take my dog with me so I'll need money for her food. I'm also going to need money for food, furniture, and literally everything else.

The move will be around August, so im trying to start saving as soon as possible to have the best safety net. This will be the first time I'm completely and fully venturing out by myself so i'm trying to put my best foot forward! If you want to throw a few bucks to your local trans man, here's my Cashapp! Ok yeah, I really don't have a choice

Help me not get kicked out of college

So at the moment I owe my college a debt of 1,800 dollars. I've already saved 600 dollars in savings, this is as much as I've been able to save despite working 30+ hours a week. That post was from a WHILE ago. And they didnt delete their blog, they changed the name and deleted the post. They are pretty high on my "fuck these exclusies in particular" list but it's more because they (and a few of their white friends) used a black meme about black mens discomfort with white women treating them as a pawn as a comparison for ace and aros in the LGBT+ community and they refused to listen to multiple black ppls concerns with it because we were inclusionists

Some people are mad about Tumblr “recognizing the ace flag but not the lesbian one” and that’s super ridiculous for a number of reasons.

First of all… the lesbian flag that’s popularized started in 2015/2016? It’s new and not widely used since most lesbians not on Tumblr use the gay flag. They add the linked Aphrodite mirrors, and that’s good. The ace flag has been around since 2010. It’s not a comparable complaint.

Secondly, they only put 6 flags in their post. A ton of others were missing that aphobes don’t care about. And I say aphobes because people are literally saying “remove the ace flag”, or “why add the ace flag when theu aren’t lgbt”. The only flags were the gay, bi,trans, ply, ace, and pan flags. Y'all aren’t pissed about intersex people and nonbinary people being included… genderqueer or demigenders? Lesbians are technically covered under gay as far as flags go, and have been for basically ever until VERY recently.

And finally, they aren’t saying those are the only people who could possibly be LGBT+, those are the most notable flags. Could y'all stop hating a marginalized sexuality for 10 seconds to see that? You guys are acting like they said AGBT instead of LGBT or something… but yeah no ace people are the sad ones.

This post is from 2017, I'm making a distinction between the labrys flag and the pink flag which was actually being talked about in this post, and theres plenty of lesbians that arent on tumblr who don't use that flag because a lot of lesbian TERFs co opted it (not saying that the flag is transphobic just that a lot of transphobes use it over other lesbian flags.)
