Undyne was completely thrown off by the voice that the training she's gone with Gerson kicked in, turning as she summoned a spear and pointed it at the stranger. "You got a lot of nerve sneaking up on me, Undyne, the toughest monster in the Underground," the guppy said, keeping a close eye for even the slightest hint of movement. "Hey, aren't you a human? Were you trying to sneak attack me? I thought you humans fought your opponents head on so what's the big idea?" It seems the young monster was throwing out assumptions than trying to get actual facts.
☄️ Finn heard some manner of commotion involving dramatic complaints going on, so he decided to see if he could do anything to help. When he arrived, he found a small fish-like child doing.... something. Throwing flowers in the water? Well, he s’posed skipping rocks was a thing, so maybe skipping flowers was too? Kids these days, huh.
He cleared his throat so as to announce his presence without startling the child too badly. “Everything okay over there?” 🦋

"Are you saying I can't do fire magic? Of course I can do fire magic, it's super easy, watch," Undyne said, completely misunderstanding that Toriel was saying her fire magic was simply stronger, though once she makes up her mind she couldn't be stopped easily.
The guppy saw a decently sized boulder as her target, starting to build up her magic in her hands. It was clear the young monster was straining herself at first, though a moment later she relaxed as a decent size fireball formed. Not exactly big, though not too small either. With that she'd send it towards the boulder, managing to give it a large crack.
"See? Totally easy, now show me your fire magic," Undyne said as she fact Toriel once more, looking a bit drained. The guppy was doing her best not to show it as even she was aware she might've put a bit too much of her magic energy into it. The young monster was however more excited to see how strong a boss monster's magic was as so far she's only had Gerson's stories to go off of.

“Of course, everyone knows who King Asgore is, and when I get older I’m gonna beat him in a fight to prove I’m the toughest monster in the Underground. After that, he’ll make me captain of the Royal Guard.” Undyne knew most monsters saw that goal as nearly impossible, though she wasn’t gonna give up because of what other’s think. “Though Gerson says I have to finish school first.” The guppy disliked school, mainly cause she struggled, though trusted Gerson.
Undyne would’ve challenged the other to fight, though it seemed they read her like a book. While normally that wouldn’t stop her the monster seemed to nice to fight anyone. “Then, can I see your magic? Gerson always says even just watching a stronger monster use magic is can be used as training.” The guppy didn’t always believe in that, though after learning healing magic just from watching it in class, though Gerson had to teach her more advanced spells.
A fight to prove she’s the strongest? The Underground has truly changed over the years from her view of its adaptation. Rubbing the back of her neck, she seemed a little taken back by her desire to prove she was so tough. It was the child’s wish from the looks of it, but she wasn’t entirely sure of how quick she was to prove it.
“I’m afraid I am quite rusty, dear,” she chuckled weakly. “My magic is… rather old and not quite the level you are at. You are still young and learning. Fire magic is quite different, is it not?”
Of course, from a safe distance, she would gladly share if taking that opportunity, but she had the skills and experience. Toriel didn’t want to hurt the young monster, but was making sure she was even close to ready to see such a thing. “And I do believe if you are harmed, your guardian won’t be too pleased with me. Are you sure this is what you wish for?”

The other could see and control souls? Wasn’t that… impossible? “Um, not sure what a combat stance is, but the basics I can tell you is to NOT get hit and hit your opponent HARD, and keep hittin’ till they stop movin’. Suppose exploitin’ your opponents’ weaknesses like a fucked up leg or arm is also important. Fight to win… but what about this soul shit?” To Surge fighting was like breathing, she was made to fight and kill Eggman and Sonic… of course, none of that happened. Only failure after failure.
“Yeah, well… I’m not exactly normal.”
“It’s what I did at the start of our fight. Legs wide, feet planted solid on the ground, and guard up. That’s about the only reason I managed to stop that crazy strong spin move you did.” Undyne was started off with stance training to stand her ground against strong attacks. “I like to fight my opponent at their best so I know I’m strong enough to take on anyone.” The guppy had a code to follow and one rule was not to fight dirty.
“I’m guessing soul sense isn’t a common thing around. I only know about human and monster souls with a human soul having no magic, though it’s super strong to where it can persist after death. A monster soul isn’t very strong, though it’s more attuned to magic. Your soul is kinda, sideways? A soul looks like a heart with a human’s looking normal and a monster’s upside down.” The child couldn’t quite figure out why Surge’s soul wasn’t like either.

Seems like the best use of such an ability is an overwhelming offense. Something that doesn’t quite work on Surge given her speed and reflexes but could stop any other opponent the guppy crossed paths with. Surge sighs, scratching the nape of her neck, her foot slowly tapping.
“Mean…guess I train?” Mostly sparring with Kit or fighting rogue badniks that were left scattered from Neo Metal Sonic. “If you want to spar that’s fine, I ain’t no teacher. Gettin’ hit enough that you start duckin’ is all the teachin’ you need.
“Yeah, magic is weird, though I’m still trying to figure out my own. I even have a magical attack that can effect the soul, though I can only use it for a few seconds before it drains all my magic.” Undyne was told by every monster that it was a rare type of magic she had, though found it weird why it took so much of her own magic to use if it she could just do it. “I guess that make sense, though what about the basic’s? It looked like you at least know about combat stance’s then you had that super cool spin move.” The guppy saw that Surge was an expert fighter, though maybe it was more natural to them as she’s heard stories of monsters and humans that are just good at fighting without training. “Though you also have a different type of soul as I’ve never seen it.”

Makes it obvious it’s goin’ to do some fucky shit.” Just happened that Surge’s speed and reflexes made her a tough opponent for the guppy. Surge hadn’t even used all her tricks either. Still, this brat had the potential to be a real menace.
“Huh?” Her first question would be to ask why the other just waltz through a mysterious magic door but saved her breath.
“Flattery won’t work on me, brat. But I am fuckin’ strong. But… I’m not sure I am the teacher time.l, ya dig? Shits like breathin’ to me.” Least she was made for it to be.
“But if you up to spar and don’t mind takin, a lick or two I am game.”
“I mean, I can’t do anything about the color change. You don’t know much about magic, do you?” Undyne found that strange, though she’d never met anyone like Surge and they had some abilities she’s never even heard of. “It’s weird, though if it’s a powerful spell the attack just changes color for some reason. That’s why the plan is to mix it in with my normal spears, throw people off.” The guppy had a lot of work to do, though aims to master her magic.
“You train right? That means you just gotta show me how you train and fight. I’m a fast learner so I’m sure I can pick it up quick.” The young monster doubt she’d be as skilled as them in an instant, though was sure she could pick up on the basic’s of their fight style swiftly. “The monster candy only healed my injuries. I’m completely out of magic energy and super tired.” The other pushed her to her limits so she wasn’t gonna be in fighting shape for awhile.

“YEAH! FUHUHUH!!“ Undyne cackled. "Let’s grab some grass and GET CRACKING!” The teenager scrambled toward the seagrass and uprooted a handful of it. Half of the remaining grass was enough for the guppy to take her share.
“We’re gonna make it so green he’ll NEVER know there was a stain in the first place!!!”
Undyne was quick to do the same as the older fish, grabbing the remaining of the seagrass before rushing over to the wall. “We gotta be fast or Wosha might catch us,” The guppy said, then starts to aggressively scrubbing the wall with her batch of seagrass. The young monster noticed the mud wasn’t coming off, though simply smeared it across the wall. “Uh, I don’t think this is working.”

What a cute little fish monster. Well, it was no surprise that there was no picture. ASGORE was the one everyone often looked up to. Little did most realize was that Toriel made some of the more logical decisions to protect their kingdom. It wasn’t her fault that she didn’t know. She was still growing up, and was in a much more quiet area of The Underground.
“…in some sort of way, yes. I used to be Queen,” she assured the kid. “You know who ASGORE is, yes?”
The goat was not looking for a fight if that was what she was so hyped up for. Though, she had some technical skill with fighting, but she had a way in fighting. However, she was against it, mostly, “…if you see me as such, I advise to not try and look for a fight, dear. I am… rather old. And quite rusty.”

“It’s meh, but go for it.” Suppose Surge did technically have a title already, that being Kit’s Sister. But the other didn’t need to know that. “So what the hell are you doing out here by yourself? Shouldn’t you be training or at school?”
“Well, I was surprised you dodged my super secret attack. I’ve been working super hard on it as it’s not easy to change the nature of one’s own magic.” Undyne pushed herself to her limit to develop the move, even missing out on sleep just to figure it out. The guppy was glad to say it was at least worked as it almost hit Surge. “Hmmm, I can come up with something better.” Undyne wouldn’t want to give a title someone wasn’t full behind so would keep thinking on it.
“Oh, I was on my way home from school, though I found this weird grey door on my way home. I’d never seen it before so I walked in and it led to a grey room with a bunch of grey doors. That’s how I ended up here.” The guppy was sure it sounded strange, yet that’s what happened. “Say, can you teach me some stuff about fighting? I was always taught a true hero should learn from everyone they can to get stronger, and you’re super duper strong.”

If a fish could flop upward and onto their “feet,” that was exactly what Undyne did.
“NO! It’ll break the wall. THINK HARDER!!” She looked around for a possible alternative, now that the soap was blasted into smithereens. Her search was over when she spotted a tuft of seagrass poking from the edge of the pond.
“Seagrass is GREEN. You know what Woshua always says, right?!” she asked, hoping her doppelgänger would catch on with the idea.
“Ugh, why does it this have to be so hard?! Why does Wosha have to clean everything?! Why don’t we have more soap?!” Undyne clearly wasn’t happy with how things became even more difficult, wishing her spears were able to solve the problem. The guppy then thought about the question, trying to remember what Wosha constantly says about the color green. “Oh you mean how it says green is clean. YEAH, THAT’S SUPER SMART!” The young monster should’ve remembered that, though she never liked listening to Wosha so was thankful that the other did remember.

Clearly, Undyne did not get the best hit in if she was as exhausted as she was. Still, there was no putting down the other’s prowess at her age and height. “Eh, it wasn’t my best… didn’t want to hurt you too much."She shrugged. "Surge, Surge the Tenrec, ain’t got no title tho’.”
Undyne suppose Surge had a point, her ego clearly had gotten the better of her from managing to do that suplex. “Yeah, you have a point. Guess I got caught up in the moment.” The guppy was willing to admit when she was wrong, always being told humility was needed to be a great warrior. “It’s nice to meet you, though I have no idea what a Tenrec is.”
She’s never heard of the word before nor did she hear a monster go by Tenrec. Now that she thinks about it, she’s never seen anyone like Surge before. The young monster found herself more focus on the fact they had no title. “No title huh? How about, Surge the Electric Speed Ball.” Not her best work, though she didn’t know much about the other than what she saw during the fight.

More or less, her pain tolerance was pretty high. Still, the other was tough, no doubt about it. She’ll be a down right menace when she gets older. “You got clobbered and the first thin’ you want is candy, a'ight.” Jerking her head to the right, a loud POP could be heard as the tension in her spine left her body. Plopping on the ground, cross-legged, Surge grabbed the other’s candy bar before snapping it in half as she gave one half to the guppy.
“Yeah, well, I still say I got the best hit out of that fight,” Undyne said, though given that fact she couldn’t move her body very well she was sure the stranger would disagree with that statement. The guppy managed to force her arm to move enough to get the candy bar in her mouth, making quick work on eating the half she was given. The young monster then pushed herself up, suddenly seeming perfectly fine as even the small scratch on her cheek was gone. “I’m gonna be super sore tomorrow. You sure are super good at fighting.” She was willing to admit when someone else was skilled. “My name’s Undyne, toughest monster in the Underground.” A bit late for names, though better late than never.

Her magic felt… different. Not… entirely different, but there was a strange feeling she got from it that she didn’t get from the typical healing spells that would be cast upon her. Of course, the magic worked, it was fine magic–impressive, even. But for some reason it just felt… off? But, then, why would it–
“…one of the toughest monsters in the Underground and future captain of the royal guard!”
Right. That other thing she wanted so desperately to ignore.
Underground.
Captain of the Royal Guard?
A monster?
It bothered her. It bothered her a lot. She wanted to brush it off, say she was visiting from another country or something and simply not worry about it.
But, what that… that dragon told her kept echoing in her mind.
Other realities. The mere concept was… well it felt impossible to her. There was no way it could exist–especially after her meeting with the dragon turned out to just be a bizarre… dream?
But it kept weighing on her mind, it kept distracting her from her work. The more she thought about it the more it felt so real, the more her words permeated certain events, the more that…
That this event, this young woman, felt like another instance of it. It went against everything she’s been taught, everything she’s experienced, every time she thought about it she wanted to ignore it all over again. Every single damn time.
Her nerves ran high as she cleared her throat–it was painfully obvious to see.
“Ah. R-Royal guard, is that right?” She hummed, forcing a smile, “Well, uh, it’s funny that you would mention such a thing! Our friend who just wandered off is the current captain of the royal guard!” She stood, brushing herself off, “And of course, I am sure you know me–Queen Darling,” at the very least, if she knew who the fennec was, then there wouldn’t be much reason to worry. They’d be from Flora… somewhere. Only Vulpis would know where exactly, but still. “Though, you can call me Kit! It-it is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Undyne!
“Your aspirations are incredible, miss. I trust in your ability to achieve them! But, uh, what was it that you mentioned? An ‘‘underground’’ of some sort?” Please let this explanation make some sort of sense–please. She isn’t asking for much here!
Undyne looked at the other in confusion, mainly as she sensed something seemed to be bothering them now, even if she was a bit dense and couldn’t tell by looking at them. “Uh, no? I know the Captain of the Royal Guard is Greatest Dog. He’s, like, super big and super tough from what I’ve seen.” The guppy wondered if she was maybe being tested or something, though her senses told her otherwise. “Can’t say I’ve ever heard of you before. I only know of King Asgore, King of the Underground.” Well, she was having doubts about being in the Underground so this just proves she isn’t there anymore.
Undyne then began trying to use every ounce of her brain to figure out what was going on, though it all came back to that strange grey door in Waterfall. The guppy knew every inch of Waterfall like the back of her hand, yet that door had just appeared. The door was clearly stranger than she thought. “This is like the stuff Dr. Gaster talks about in science class when he gets too into his science stuff. I normally tune it out, though he’s got these awesome theories about different worlds and timelines.” The young monster may dislike science, though even she got behind those theories.
“Of course I can become Captain of the Royal Guard, though I know it’s gonna take a lot of work, but it’ll be easy for me.” Undyne was aware that her goal would be hard, requiring constant training and hard work, though to her it was still something she could do. “You know, the Underground. Where all monsters live after being sealed under the mountain.” It was basic history that everyone learned when they were little. The guppy’s stomach would suddenly growl again, showing that she needed something to eat. “Not to rush, though I could use something to eat now.” It seemed the young monster either wasn’t bothered by the fact she might not be in the Underground or didn’t completely understand the situation.

“Quite a brave little one, aren’t you?” She couldn’t help but smile, gently patting her head with one paw once she had returned her spear. “Such courage and bravery in a soul like yours! I’m sure you will be the toughest monster in the Underground soon.”
Since her departure to the Ruins, Toriel had been alone for quite some time. Her connection to ASGORE had ended roughly out of pain and emotional torment, but seeing another child… brought some warmth to her soul.
“Well… if it brings you a reminder, I used to be the Queen,” she assured her. “I was once ruling, but I… unfortunately have left my post. Though, I am quite surprised you remember my face from somewhere!”
Undyne was a bit surprised to meet an adult that didn’t underestimate her, with the exception of Gerson. The guppy then found herself hyper focusing as she looked at the other monster, also trying to remember if she’d ever seen a picture of the Queen before. “I’ve never seen a picture of the Queen before, though you seem nice so I’ll take your word for it. Still can’t recall where I’ve seen you.” The young monster was sure she’d remember at some point.
“Say, if you were the Queen, doesn’t that mean you’re a Boss Monster?” Undyne couldn’t say she’s met too many Boss Monsters, at least not outside of school. Anyone who knew the guppy would be smart enough to say no given her nature to challenge anyone who’s strong to a fight.

{{ L }} The sheer strength this kid had taken Surge by utter surprise, not giving her enough time to escape, so she would go on the offense. While in the air, second from being slammed into the dirt, Surge tightly gripped the other’s wrist letting out a massive surge of electricity, not enough to kill the guppy, of course, but enough to stun her as Surge crashed into the ground..
Undyne was completely caught off guard when electricity began flowing through her body, though felt it wasn’t strong enough to do any ever lasting damage. The guppy did use what little magic she had left to lessen the attack for a moment longer just so she could go full force on her suplex before she got the full blunt of the attack. The young monster was tap both on physical strength and magical energy as she rolled onto the ground. “I still got a better hit,” she said, in between pants, completely out of breath. “Hey, if you can move. Can you grab the candy bar in my jacket pocket?”

Huh. He didn’t expect that–a perfect ‘‘get-out-of-jail-free’’ card right in front of her face and she denies it outright. A quirked brow, then a smirk on his face.
“Alright, we’ll do it your way, if you’re so insistent. We eat, we spar, then you shall continue your studies in mathematics for a while, perhaps for an hour or two before we send you home?” He looks back over to the Queen as he stands, putting his arm behind his back, “Would that suffice, your majesty?”
Quite honestly the amount of things happening in such a short span of time completely dazed her–it was only when Friedrich actually spoke to her again did she slightly snap out of the stupor.
She shook her head, stared for a moment to process the words he said, then sighed.
“I suppose I can not stop you, Friedrich. I just… I ask that the proper precautions are put in place to make sure both parties end up alright afterwards. I do not wish to see the young miss hurt.”
She wished to deny the other’s offer to heal–felt that there was no reason to, seeing as how she could just ask for one of the Lagomatrons to bring over a doctor or some such to take care of the damage.
But… it would be quicker. And if she felt responsible for such an act–one that was wholly not her fault–it would be better to let her take that responsibility, would it not?
A grimace, before she slowly sat onto the floor, wincing as she did. A couple shards in her paws was nothing–she really didn’t have to. Dealing with alchemy had much worse consequences than a couple pained steps.
“Then make it quick, young miss. I do not wish to prolong any of this longer than needed.
“Friedrich, could you–”
“Of course.”
And with that, he would simply walk away down the steps the young one came up a moment ago.
Undyne was quick to realized her mistake in mentioning how Gerson punishes her when she does something wrong. The guppy was tempted to say something and perhaps get out of it, though it was fair even if she hated math. “Alright, fine, I can do that.” The young monster might’ve suggested that herself anyway, if only due to her own sorta made up code. “You don’t gotta worry about me, I’m super tough!” She said, pound her chest with confidence as she knew she could take several hits without being fazed by it.
Undyne’s attention shifted to the short stranger’s feet, seeing that the injury was a minor one for the most part, at least what she’s learned about injuries. “Alright, I can handle this easy. Shouldn’t take longer than a few seconds with the healing spells I know.” The guppy would then hold out her hands which glowed green, the glass in the other’s paws being pushed up by some unseen force while also healing at the same time. I guess I still have a long way to go before I can keep my temper under control.” Undyne had come a long way, at least that’s what Gerson tells her, though it didn’t stop her from having rage fits. “Oh, I don’t think I gave my name yet. My name is Undyne, one of the toughest monster in the Underground and future captain of the Royal Guard.” The guppy wasn’t promised that or anything, though she had no doubt in her mind that she could achieve that goal when she gets older.
