People have to realize that some who had been raped is going to spend the rest of their lives recovering. It’s a fucking terrible experience and it’s seamlingly impossible to overcome. Like a drug addiction, you can think you’re finally over it but then, one day something makes you think of it again and your whole world crashes around you. Please, i beg you please be patient with these people. They need love and patience, and most of all someone to sit there and hold their hand while they cry-someone to listen.

Question for those who need it: what methods do you use to prevent yourself from self harm while trying to overcome it?

The best way I can describe depression is this:
You’re in a boat, surrounded by deep dark water. The water is always there. Sometimes the waves a calm, the breeze brushes against your cheek and the sun shines down on you.
sometimes the waves are choppy. Sometimes a storm sweeps in and washes away your life boats and rips the boat apart, until all you have to separate you from the frigid water is a flimsy inflatable raft.
Depression is like the ocean. It can be cold, unpredictable and unforgiving. The boat is the things in your life that bring you happiness- friends, family, jobs, passions, etc.
