My Private Idaho-1991 American
Going back to 1991 this review is for one of my favourite films My Private Idaho.
Tumblr media
Mikey played by River Phoenix is a narcoleptic rent boy who goes on a journey with his best friend Scott favor played by me keanu Reeves to find his estranged mum. On the way it becomes apparent that Mikey is in love with Scott but his romantic feelings towards his best friend may not be reciprocated.
Tumblr media
This film was both beautiful and gritty and demonstrated the heart ache of unrequited love. It seemed the actors had great chemistry and I shipped them as much as the character they played. RIP River! :’(
Tumblr media
Rating:4/5
I would have given it a 5/5 as a film and just for seeing the two actors play along side each other but for BL value I had to knock the rating down slightly as it left my fujoshi heart needing more!

Heartstopper-2022 British
This cute British story of teen gay romance has broke into the mainstream and with season two of the series just been released it seems everyone is talking about heartstopper right now!
Tumblr media
Both the graphic novel series created by Alice Oseman and the Netflix series that it’s based from are definitely worth reading/watching. The main characters are Charlie played by Joe Locke an openly gay secondary student and Nick played by Kit Connor a Student in the year above Charlie who likes playing Rugby and doesn’t know he’s bi.
Tumblr media
It a classic story of friends to lovers with some wonderfully sweet moments and a genuine feeling coming of age journey for both the characters. They make a realistic couple and the relationship is believable and extremely cute.
Tumblr media
Overall I really enjoyed reading the graphic novels and watching the series and would highly recommend both!
Series rating: 5/5

Good Omens-2019 British
I’m kicking off this review blog with something I have been buzzing about since watching season two (Which I may have binged in a day it was that good) and that is Good Omens.
Tumblr media
Adapted from the novel of the same title by Terry Pratchett season one follows the story of angel Aziraphale played by Micheal Sheen and fallen angel/demon Crowley play by David Tennant trying to stop Armageddon from taking place. Even though one is from heaven and the other serves hell; since time begins they keep encountering each other and form a close friendship.
Tumblr media
The story line sticks close to the book in season one and I definitely shipped the two characters loving the whole opposites attract trope. As the season ended in the same way the book ended I thought that was that and Aziraphale and Crowley would only ever get to be together buried in fan fiction and in the hearts of all fujoshi’s until season two…
Tumblr media
The whole season leaned closer on their relationship and romance as a whole with hints of the pair being more than good friends throughout until the last episode where things get real! Eeek! I won’t give away any more spoilers but I would highly recommend watching this series. The characters and how their relationship develops feels really genuine and is beautiful to watch.
Rating: 4/5

In this blog I’m going to be reviewing all things BL (boys’ love). Be it films, series, graphic novels or books. If it has gay male romance involved I’m going to be writing about it and giving it my review!
