It’s me again, your biggest spammer atp lmao.
One of the reasons I love your stories so much is because you write relationships, romantic or otherwise, so beautifully. I loved your depiction of Aoba and Anko’s friendship in On a Distant Star - their bond transcends the usual human connection. That’s very rare to find, especially in a male-female friendship in writing.
It’s glorious to read about the messiness and complexity of interpersonal relationships in all their twisty beauty - especially when done by an author who knows the ins and outs of humanity. You can make a reader love even the most random background character who’s appeared for, what, a page? Their idiosyncrasies, their flaws, and their passions all shine through in your writing.
Not to mention that I LOVE your rarepairs. As for Raidō and Kurenai??? Hoooo boi I never thought I’d ship it more than her and Asuma 😂 (seeing the three of them and how they interacted in Storms, being so beautifully in character, was a treat. I wanna ramble more because there is SO MUCH). I didn’t even know sai/tenten existed until I discovered one of your fics and that sent me down a rabbit hole asw ahshshshs.
I’m so sorry for the long-winded essay I just wrote you 😂 I’m running on three hours of sleep and am jet-lagged as fuck. Not to mention I had to sit at my laptop for the better part of a day and hammer out two assignments due on the same day. So I apologise for any lack of clarity herein.
Anyway, I hope you have a lovely day! ☺️
Ah, it's not spam! I have Tumblr because I know readers sometimes feel more comfortable connecting here rather than leaving a kudos or comment.
I think I'm kind of a boring writer. My best stories don't have a lot in terms of plot, and mostly I just write what I want to read because I like so many rare pairs. I think we all want to feel a deep connection, platonic or romantic, and for some characters, like Aoba and Anko, I think them being very close friends makes more sense than a traditional romantic entanglement.
I think you're giving me too much credit lol I have just read a lot of books and seen messy people in action. I feel like I abuse the man versus self trope all the time, but that's what I'm really interested in, is how we lie to ourselves and betray ourselves to our own detriment. And the background characters are easier because there's more room to play around with them, and potential readers aren't invested in them the same was as they are with popular characters. Writing Kakashi puts my stomach in knots, but characters like Asuma and Raidou are easy peasy, because I know enough to make guesses and can be creative.
LOL Raidou and Kurenai only started because I thought it was lame for Kakashi and Asuma to be her two options. Raidou was just cute enough and you could see the leap between him to Asuma. LOL I'm never getting away from Storms. It's a mess in a lot of ways and there are things I would change, but from some of the comments I also feel like the people who needed to read it found it, so it stays. I just think that Lovesickness will be better, and a fuller picture of what could've happened.
I will maintain, until my dying day, that Sai and Tenten aren't a huge leap at all lol.
I don't mind the essays! And I definitely know what it means to be jetlagged and a student. I most certainly do not miss either. Thank you so much for reading and leaving such a sweet comment, take care!
(And find time away from you computer, learn from my mistakes and save your eyes and posture lol).

This is probably going to be so random, but I had a very interesting rare pair back in my early days writing Naruto fic: Ebisu and Shizune.
IM SORRY LMAO
I write rare pairs so I have no leg to stand on and I’m not going to tell people what to ship, but I don’t have the imagination for this vision. I can also admit that this is because I can't stand Ebisu, but that’s on me lol. I bow to your creativity, and thank you for sharing!
I'm biased lol I think Shizune and Aoba are where it's at. Thanks for the giggle!

IM YELLING
Shizune and ASUMA have GOT to be another fav rarepair
Same with Tenten and Sai 😭 YOUR FICS GOT ME
Tenten and Sai are literally a woman who just wants to be heard and a man who wants to listen. I think they’d be so cute.
Asuma and Shizune would be high-strung and laidback in compatible ways. I could see them being disappointed and disillusioned together on the road with a spiralling Tsunade in the background. I literally lay in bed listening to “Chemtrails over the Country Club” and “You’re in the wind, I’m in the water/Nobody’s son, nobody’s daughter” and “Washing my hair, doing the laundry/Late-night TV, I want you only” are so them lol.
Wow, I am so sorry for the longwinded response. I am but an amalgamation of sad girl memes, Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain songs, and literary references. You are too kind to me! Thank you for reading my stories!

Your art style is so visually pleasing 🤩‼️‼️ I'd really love to see satoshoko and getohime on a double date with your art style, I think that'd be really cute. 💖

You're antioedipus in AO3, right? Would love to see a yakuza Geto in your fic. Maybe not now, but someday. 🫶
Oui, c’est moi. I don’t know if I have a sophisticated enough understanding of organized crime, let alone the Yakuza to pull this off. Never say never, but I’m sharing this in case someone out there is looking for a GetoHime prompt, or is thinking about writing Yakuza Geto and needs to see that people are interested. This is your sign!
I’m also going to shout out Chloé Jafé’s I give you my life, a photograph exhibit featuring Yakuza and particularly Yakuza wives. It actually inspired a GetoHime story of mine by the same name! The article I read included a quote from one of the wives, saying that she got a tattoo on her neck because “I’m ready to put my life in his hands and keep loving him.” The i-D magazine article featuring it seems to have disappeared from the internet, but you can find Chloé Jafé’s official website here and a quick write up here.

The chokehold that "Greetings From Teenage Hell" by Petra Collins photoshoot still has on me is insane. Rookie Mag is still one of my favorite places on the internet and Petra Collins' archive is an eternal source of artistic inspiration.
I love how the entire website is mostly teenage girls being creative and sharing their work. It makes me emotional just looking at these pictures lol.

Oh... Wow... IDK why it took me so long to find your Tumblr. ANYWAY I now have the power to bother you about how your writing made me go insane with giddiness and unholy thoughts. I even pulled a friend of mine into the abyss by showing her the NanaSho works you wrote. It has consumed her and I'm not sorry about it. Well that's it, just wanted to say reading your stuff makes me froth at the mouth and want to rip pillows in half. That's all. Have a good day. Goodbye.
OMG, hey, hello, I love your SatoShoko art! You’re one of my fave artists. The GetoHime one made my day, nay, my year! It was a pleasure to reblog it and I’ll be sure to shout it out whenever I update that GetoHime story I’m working on. Thank you for the dopamine hit and inspiration.
Not giddy and unholy thoughts! Frothing at the mouth! I am honored!
I actually love getting to shout out other writers here. I did not write the NanaSho on my profile. For the curious, a reader named van_del wrote “tell me your heart’s on fire” as a gift, and my lovely and talented writer friend bby_rabbit wrote “why am I awake at 2:00 a.m.,” which is a rewrite of her previous story, “no panties kind of weather.” I am thrilled to hear that you and your friend have enjoyed those stories. I’ve been lucky to receive gifts on ao3, and there are lots of other stories in my bookmarks worthy of love, so it’s great to hear that people actually look at them.
Thanks for the sweet comment and take care!

hi, idk if you dig this ship (geto and utahime) but if you do, I'm hoping that you might draw them, romantically maybe haha. I hope that's not asking for too much, There's so little fanworks about them 😞
Just for you! I like how Antioedipus writes them so I went for something more agressive hehe

your brain is soo wrinkly and galactic, thank you for indulging and giving these recs much thought! I've finished the tv adaptation of normal people and while i have only read lines from np, i did pick up another book of hers with satoshoko solely in mind, titled: "beautiful world, where are you". right after binge-reading your works, too, so i somehow feel validated she made it to the list. i have read ms. bby_rabbit's work and loved it! I always enjoy when fics explore the dynamics of satoshoko + the students (esp kugitafushi), and hs,dj's megumi was a delight. sadly, I'm now unfamiliar w the remainder of your list, but rest assured i am capital R - running - straight to storygraph after this.
re: weird relationship with one's own works, i get a version of that feeling too, as i am my own harshest critic. however, i want to share an anecdote with you that i hope you'll enjoy. one time i was just watching this on youtube when i, completely out of nowhere, imagined seiya probably having done it as well. i don't know how i got here lol. i was never one to think about ship babies and i'd be embarrassed about stsk popping up in my head, if it weren't for the fact that it was an added layer, which truly made the video more comedic.
it goes to show you've written characters so memorable and endearing in that they manage to sneakily occupy ppl's minds and brighten days. thanks again for answering.
p.s. did u ever watch the hidden inventory arc get animated? it was so cute
Dunno about wrinkly and galactic, but my brain is certainly in my skull. I don’t mind talking about books, reading is one of my favorite things to do. I’ve never seen the television adaptation, but I’ve read both of those books. I think Normal People is the better novel of the two. I love bby_rabbit, she’s my writer bestie, and I’ll be sure to pass your sweet words on!
Wow, that video made my day! I loved how the little baby was very careful not to disturb their mom but fully slapped their dad across the face. It’ s so flattering to hear that you thought of little Seiya, and that you don’t cringe when my stories come back to you unexpected. Day made, self-esteem boosted!
I have not yet seen the second season. I’m annoyed with where the manga has been going, and I don’t want to see Yuji’s torture well animated, but the clips I have seen are very cute!

hi, dear author! i hope you're doing well. i just wanted to say that i love your satoshoko and reading your stories always feels like time well-spent. you're an excellent writer which ig would only stand to reason you're probably a reader as well haha. anyway, ive been itching for more of them so I was wondering if you could pretty please w a cherry on top give me book recs in the vein of (your) satoshoko? doesn't even have to hit the same tropes as stsk, just their general vibe, and/or your writing style for their stories. thank you in advance if you answer ♡
Hi! Thank you for your kind comments about my writing. I have a weird relationship with my own stories, so it’s nice to hear that they are a) being read and b) liked by readers. I do read a lot, guilty as charged. I don’t, however, read a ton of romance, so a lot of my suggestions are more along the vibes of dealing with alienation that I think haunts the SatoShoko ship.
So anyways, the books I have selected are about loneliness, and the strange humor that is found within sadness. I hope you haven’t read at least some of them, nor see them on the list and think less of me. I am obviously not even a shadow of these writers, so I suspect that you will find them way more entertaining to read. As always, some of these stories could have triggering content so if there is anything you are hoping to avoid, look them up on Goodreads or Storygraph first.
Normal People by Sally Rooney is a literary romance for sad people, and the man isn’t completely toxic, so it has to go at the top of the list.
“The depressed person” is a short story from David Foster Wallace that is in his collection Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. It’s my favorite of his books and is full of great stories but is also the one that repulses me the most. The short story itself is about a woman coping with depression, and was the vibe I was going for in the story “Displacement.”
The reason it took me some time to answer this message is because I had to reread at least two of the stories in Eleven Kind of Loneliness by Richard Yates. Each story is in plain prose, and focuses on the different ways that people deceive themselves. I had to reread it just to re-check the vibes, but it’s great and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully the rest of it checks out! I guess I'll find out as I continue my reread lol.
My last recommendation is a book I just finished. Life Ceremony by Sayaka Murata is a collection of stories that are a little surreal, pretty strange, and are all about connection in some way or another. I feel like SatoShoko probably watch and read weird shit all the time, so that’s my pretence for including it, but I actually just think that it’s a really great collection of short stories.
Now, if you’re looking for SatoShoko stories, I know that there are several collections and bookmarks featuring different writers. My writer pal bby_rabbit wrote me a good SatoShoko, “heartbreak soldiers, disappointment junkies” (NSFW, M). It’s a great story, and to be frank, there would be no antioedipus without bby_rabbit (or Bawgdan, as she was going by when we met).
Happy reading, and let me know if you need anything else!
