Don't usually share work stuff but I do work in climate policy and nearly every memo I write includes some variation of "government funding for this obscure but necessary area of climate mitigation research has been multiplied (sometimes by like, 1000x) under the Biden Administration" and while I know the oil permitting stuff is much splashier news there's a whole world of work that needs to be done under the surface that Biden is doing. And if he doesn't win in 2024 all that progress goes away and the climate is absolutely fucked

People who try to debate whether or not the members of talking heads were/are good at their instruments are so stupid. Like first of all they just objectively are - david byrne is an incredible guitarist, even though he mostly plays rhythm he can solo and riff his ass off when he wants to, and iirc jerry harrison was like a professional gigging musician before he joined the band. Chris and tina always seem to come in for the most complaints but like, YOU try and stay as deep in a pocket as they consistently do. Also clearly talking heads as a band were taking their cues not so much from the like solo-and-riff based paradigm of skilled musicianship, which is more of an american and british thing, but instead from west african musicians e.g. fela kuti and ebo taylor where the mark of musical skill is being able to find a simple but incredibly deep groove and stick with it for a long time. Most fela songs the rhythm guitarist is playing the same two chords the whole way through but it’s in the particular syncopation and the minute variations on the rhythmic pattern over the course of like 14 minutes or whatever that distinguish their playing style. THAT’s what all these stupid redditors slagging off the heads need to understand.
