hi! Sorry if this has been asked already, but are there any plans to add sfx translations? visually the art style is hard for me to understand sometimes and i wonder if the sounds would help.
Hey there and thank you for the question!
Yes! We are planning on translating the sound effects for our upcoming 2.0 English translation of the manga, and therefore also have someone currently working on compiling and translating those sound effects.
The text for the sound effects will be staying, as the lettering is a form of art in of themselves and it would be wrong to remove them, not to mention extremely hard to remove too. In connection with that, we're trying to find the best way to add the English sound effect translations, so they are easy to read but also non-invasive to the art and paneling.

Hey there! First of all thank you so much for all the work you do and share with the fandom, it gives me hope in these communities :')
But, I have an annoying question haha. I think this might've been asked before but I've been fishing online for the original Japanese phrasing of the famous phrase "After all was said and done I wanted to share my tomorrows with him" but I came up empty handed.
I'm really curious about it because some TLs I found go along the lines of "You (Wolfwood) just wanted to see a tomorrow after all settles down," and it feels like there was some details in interpretation that end up being something big since this is an important moment in the story.
Sorry for the bother but the curiosity kills me. And again, thank you for everything!

The original Japanese phrasing is:
だから思つたのだ
全てやりとげた明日を
分かちあいたいと
...そうだろう?
ウルフウツド
Which directly translates into:
So I thought
Tomorrow when all is done
We could share it
...Don't you agree?
Wolfwood
The Japanese language is notorious for being vague and beating around the bush when it comes to stating certain things directly, even if it involves crucial information. This line is likely another example of that, as it may attempt to convey Vash's inner realization what is about to happen to Wolfwood and the sadness in that.
So, it can easily be more of a "We could've shared a tomorrow", that the chance to both survive was something that at least Vash had hoped for, and hoping that Wolfwood also had. There is a clear "We" in there but it's entirely from Vash's perspective, so we don't actually know if Wolfwood shared the same hopes or expectation to survive. Whatever the case may be, just a page later reality kicks in.
What it all means is very much up to interpretation, of course. My personal interpretation is that Vash realizes that he is afraid of Wolfwood dying, and that he hoped they would both live to see a tomorrow without all this struggle, hoping that Wolfwood also wanted to live.

TRIGUN ULTIMATE OVERHAUL APRIL 2024 UPDATE
OVERHAUL UPDATE 04/05/24 - Work slowing down again.
Hey there and welcome to another monthly update!
Despite our previous small hiatus having just ended, I personally have been forced to slow down work. I've picked up a huge work load from my job that is taking up most of my time, so I have barely been able to do any work since the job related project started. We can still make our deadlines for now, but I have been unable to do the promised scheduled streams on the manga Discord server.
This job related work load should ease up again soon, hopefully, and I'll be able to keep up with the manga cleaning work.

Server continues to run smoothly and calmly.
It is currently not super active, but without being able to run events and streams, it is no surprise that it is currently very laid back. Some would even say it is preferable to only have high activity once in a while, always having space for someone to simply pop in whenever to start a conversation.
There are still plenty of spots free for new users, so don't hesitate to join if you worry about it being too full or active.

Anyway, time for some double pages.
We unfortunately only have two to share today, as we haven't been able to do more cleaning work on Vol 7.
The amount of double page spreads are going up again from Vol 6 to Vol 7, with one or two very complex ones. We did finish a third that we could've shared for this page, but the subject of that double page spread is pretty upsetting, so we decided to leave it out.

TRIGUN ULTIMATE OVERHAUL MARCH 2024 UPDATE
OVERHAUL UPDATE 03/01/24 - Manga server and end of hiatus.
Hey, everyone, and welcome back to another monthly update!
Our Overhaul work has been on a small hiatus for the last couple of months, just to ensure that we don't burn out. However, it has come to an end and we're excited to resume the cleaning and preparation for upcoming releases.
We still don't have a clear picture of when exactly the English 2.0 translation will begin its release, but we know for sure that it is coming. While work on the new translation hasn't started it, it doesn't mean we aren't preparing for it. All the cleaning work done for the Japanese releases are also a precursor to preparing pages for the English version, and we have been taking notes of all the feedback we've got for our previous translation, as well.
For now, everything is following schedule and we aren't behind on any front, but that is also a primary goal for our team to ensure that it remains a fun project and not a stressful time crunch.

The new manga server is going well.
The number of new users has been less than expected, but that is by no means a negative thing. We hoped for a smaller, more relaxed experience, and that is exactly what we've got.
For anyone looking to join, or are on the fence about joining, know that the server isn't massive and the activity is a slow but pleasant trickle of questions, memes, and general love posting for the series.
We've also set up times for Overhaul streams, where you can watch the cleaning work being done, or the preparation of other promotional material.
It's every Friday at 7PM CST and every Sunday at 1PM CST.

Anyway, time for some cleaned double page spreads from Vol 6:
The number of spreads went down significantly from Vol 5 to 6. These pages above are basically all that show up in the entirety of the volume, with a single double page spread per chapter, with the exception of chapter 1 which has none.

Hello! I noticed a pretty big discrepancy between the original text and the overhaul translation. In Maximum volume 3 chapter 3, "幕引いたるわ大根役者" was translated as "eat shit and die, ya fat bastard." I don't think this is a very accurate reflection of the text nor Wolfwood's characterization in the scene, especially in something that is supposed to be a revised/improved/faithful translation. Calling an enemy a ham/bad actor (belittling, significant considering that Ninelives (1/2)

You are entirely correct that this is not an accurate translation of the original line.
It happened occasionally in the older translation work that things got mixed up or the intention of the line was misunderstood. The older translation work of ours has left much to be desired, which is also why we want to make a 2.0 translation that fixes our own mistakes.
There has also been a few lines here and there that seems to have gone through the cracks with our Japanese speaking quality control, but life's busy and things easily are missed. In the end, the translation error still lies with me and it's a mistake I look forward to making right in the future.

Hello! Question about the discord server - I was able to join but not sure how to let the mods know which server role I should get. Do I send a message in the #get-your-role-here channel?
Hey there!
All information about the server and how to get your role is right on the welcome page, the first page you see when you enter the server.
It directs you to read the rules and to write in the role selection channel which role you need, a mod will then assign it to you as soon as they're able.

Trigun Manga Club, a manga only Discord server.
Today we share the public link to the new manga only server for Trigun!
It will be a server focusing on discussing the manga, sharing thoughts, ideas and theories with each other. It will also be a space for people to get into the manga and share their experiences reading it for the first time.
This server is also a place for people both following the Trigun Ultimate Overhaul project and people engaging in the Trigun Bookclub where they can meet the people working on these projects and events.
The server will only have around 500 people in total, and we will close the invite the moment we hit 500 members. This is to maintain a calm server experience without too much of the usual chaos of big, public servers.
If the invite has expired and you wish to join the server, then you are free to contact us and ask to join the queue for the next available spot in the server when it drops under 500 again.

TRIGUN ULTIMATE OVERHAUL FEBRUARY 2024 UPDATE
OVERHAUL UPDATE 02/02/24 - New manga only server and more double page spreads.
Hey there, everyone!
After asking for help last update, we were able to find someone who could take over the job of compiling and translating sound effects. We are thankful for the people offering their help and those boosting our post with reblogs, helping in their own way by bringing attention to our post. We are excited to accept this new person into our team, as we are yet to fully get them introduced to the rest of the team.

BIG NEWS: WE'LL BE OPENING A NEW DISCORD SERVER FOR MANGA ONLY CONTENT.
This server will be both for fans of the Trigun manga, and people who want to get into the manga. It can also help everyone with finding the physical copies of the manga and other manga merch, like the magazine or official Nightow art.
Beyond that, it will also work as a point for people to more directly interact with the Trigun Ultimate Overhaul team, for both receiving updates or asking questions. The cleaning process of the manga will also be regularly streamed for people to watch the magic happen, and how exactly that entire process looks like.
Furthermore, it will be a collaboration with the @trigunbookclub to have a centralized point for organizing events and event announcements. This puts Trigun Tumblr's two projects under one roof, but will an always open door to accept collaboration with even more projects in the future.
More specifics details about the server:
It will be a SFW server for both adults and minors
It will attempt to remain manga focused with no channels dedicated to discussing the two animes and the movie.
The link to the server will only be shared and should only be shared on Tumblr to keep the number of users to a reasonable level, but also to keep the atmosphere akin to what we're all hopefully familiar with.
Fanart channels will be made, and an option to share the art of others with the proper credit. We will have very artist friendly rules about feedback and sharing other people's art.
Server will be handled by people with experience in running servers, but potentially also by people wishing to try their hand at modding for the first time.
We will be posting the link to the server when it's ready some time next week! Keep an eye out!

Lastly, we didn't give you any cleaned double page spreads last month, so we brought some really fine ones from Vol 5 this time around. Beware of manga spoilers!

after a shit ton of time of it sitting around, my handbound handmade version of trigun maximum volumes 9 and 10 has finally been finished ^-^!! its very rough around the edges and nowhere near perfect but i like it so its good enough for me
scans and translation used were created by @trigun-manga-overhaul, and my sister did the paper binding portion for me as i could not wrap my mind around it. more stuff under the cut!
its a dense book coming in at around 430 pages of manga with some other stuff added (like blank pages and cover pages to offset for double pages)
additionally, i edited one portion to add a meme also by @trigun-manga-overhaul. entirely for fun and my sanity when formatting this monster for printing (which i managed to do for free at least. yay for my tuition paying for free printing on my college campus. definitely not what they wanted me to use it for though)
i started this before they announced the rereleases, but ill definitely be buying those cause as this mf is rough and no matter how much work and love i put into it, it does not top the professionally printed stuff. although i think this translation is better but nyeh

We did have a Trigun Discord server once named TriCord, though it wasn't specifically for the Overhaul project but instead a public server. However, we shut it down in August 2023 due to burnout.
We have considered starting a new server for manga-only discussion and having a more direct, public space for interaction surrounding the Overhaul project. We don't know what the general interest in that is, but if it's something our followers would like, you're more than free to let us know.

TRIGUN ULTIMATE OVERHAUL JANUARY 2024 UPDATE
OVERHAUL UPDATE 01/05/24 - Help needed.
This year's first update will be a little different than usual, as we don't have much new to update on. The process of cleaning and preparing pages is going smoothly and we're currently way ahead of schedule. There is however one thing that we want to mention.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR A NEW JAPANESE SOUND EFFECTS COMPILER!
IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN HELPING OUT, FEEL FREE TO DM US!
Our previous compiler had to pull out from the project due to private reasons, and therefore we're in need of a new person comfortable in the Japanese language and familiar with the writing. If you have any experience in compiling and translating manga sound effects, then that is very helpful but not required.
There won't be any intense deadlines, work flow can be easily discussed, having Discord would be helpful for communication but not required. You'll primarily be working with me, the project lead.
The compiling work will include reading the sound effects off the pages, putting them into an organized system in both original Japanese script, both Katakana and Hiragana, and Latin-script form. Lastly, adding a suggestion for an English translation to later be discussed with other members what we want to go with and how to write it.
There are very few things that are a must with how this compiling will be done, so there'll be a lot of freedom to do it in whatever way works the best for you.
You'll be fully credited for your work in the Team Overhaul credits if desired, or not if you wish to remain anonymous.
We hope to be able to keep our sound effect translation promise, as we too fully agree that the sound effects are very important for the understanding of scenes. But as it stands now, we need help to make it happen as the work load on our members is already heavy enough.

Sorry for the lack of cleaned double pages this month, but that just means we've got even more double pages for next month's update!

We are not quite familiar with anime only content, but I did attempt to look into it.
I could not find this item anywhere, neither could I find anything conclusive about about the name Broccoli. The list of contents on the back also doesn't tell me much about what exactly this is.
My guess would be that this isn't official content but instead a collection of fan content.
