i think a lot of people are scared to learn queer history because they think it's all depressing. and yeah, most of it is. it sucks, but it's a necessary thing to learn. but there is also queer joy. there is queer love. there is sappho and there is stonewall and there is queer newspaper comics and there is pride parades and there is homophobic politicians getting creampied directly in the face. there is queer joy to be known, and nobody learns about it because they're so scared of learning of queer pain.

hi hello i am embarrased to do this but you have probably heard me stressing about finances catching up to me lately with cards i ranked up debt on from when the pandemic first started and beyond to afford groceries and ppe and other essentials for me and my household. most recently this is realizing i was about $200 overdrawn this morning due to payments + insufficient funds charges and still having a $80+ geico bill due. at this point i am around $9k in debt and i am starting to feel a bit hopeless. if you've ever enjoyed my posts or anything i would greatly appreciate any help- if every follower i have gave me 50 cents like id be fine 😭 thank you for reading and sharing and helping if you can

oh my god hi hello. going crazy. Hey. so. how does one major in women gender and sexuality . like where do i go . how do i do it . help !!!!!!! i didnt even know that was a thing i need it asap

if you’re in the us, your best bet is to look around at colleges you’re interested in and see what majors they offer! almost all colleges have a specific major/minors list on their website. colleges call the wgss major different things but generally looking for women’s, gender (and sexuality) studies is probably your best bet.

i personally go to a college that’s more known for its musical theatre and film schools but i still think there’s a lot of opportunities for someone in my major despite our wgss program being small. so don’t feel like you HAVE to go to a college that’s known for its wgss program. especially if you’re interested in interdisciplinary fields (like for me, im really into religion as well so i tend to also take a lot of religion classes)

if you’re not in the us, it’s probably going to be harder bc it isn’t as big of a major internationally (just from my experience trying to look for a study abroad trip. i could be wrong) but i know there are colleges that are starting to offer it!

i apologize for disappearing for months on end. however, i am back! this queer/gender studies folder update is a little sad but i am trying to ease myself back into it (and also bc i've been holding onto this since like may and i need to just get it out there).

sinister wisdom (issues 1 - 86) (found in the magazines/periodicals folder)

sinister wisdom is a multicultural lesbian literary and art journal that has been published since 1976! it is the longest established lesbian literary journal. some of its former editors include elana dykewomon and adrienne rich. it currently has 128 issues but only the first 87 issues have been digitized. however, i believe they are working to eventually digitize all of the back issues!
