What if there is something dangerous in something locked?” Her eyebrows raised slightly at her question; clearly this was someone she was going to have to keep an eye on when it involved her tools. The Eye or not, Shi was private even in regards to her acts and equipment. “I have some small equipment that is old. Some in China still believe in mystical things so I have picked up a few. As for lock,” now Shi’s hand trailed from the box down to hold the lock that kept it closed, a brass ornate one, “Many picklocks study modern locks. Not old ones. Makes it more secure in place like this.”
❛ We’ll in the past ----- I still do but if it applies to anything that helps, regarding what we need to do, ❜ he takes a few long strides, for her own comfort, seeing as how he almost wanted to try it out himself. He did live by the words ‘nothings ever locked’ and if there’s a lock he hasn’t or can’t pick, which is something he’s yet to come across, jack would face the challenge, given the proper time to execute it. ❛ mystical? anything like medical or anything related to magic, ❜ even more curious to see what’s inside but he’d respect her wishes and keep his hands away. For himself, Jack really didn’t have much except a trunk full of clothes and a deck of cards at hand. ❛ Modern locks are advance now and days but that doesn’t mean an old lock doesn’t hold something even of greater value. ❜

danny’s nose wrinkled slightly at jack’s assessment. on the whole, for as much as he and merritt generally fought, he found himself hating so much as a physical comparison between him and chase. ridiculous, he was aware, but still. he sniffed, not even bothering to look up from his cards. “ you clearly haven’t seen his ridiculous old posters, then. ” the deck did freeze in his hands though at the question.
wacky relatives ? no. what he had was a couple of gravestones and a murderer locked away at rikers. both of which were topics he underwent great pains to avoid discussing. not that he wasn’t curious about the families of his fellow horsemen — after all, he couldn’t imagine any of them had much if they’d been willing to join up anyway, or that dylan would’ve even recruited them if they had — but it was hard to ask a question if he knew he’d balk at answering it if asked himself. which was what he did now.
“ no. not really. ” despite his best efforts, a guarded note slipped into his tone, and he hurried to compensate —— to redirect as he might in response to a mistake made on stage. “ you ? ”
❛ old posters? i’ve got to see those, ❜ the idea of seeing merritt with hair, a snicker slipped under his breath, as he sat back. hazel hue’s watching as the other horsemen shuffled the deck before coming to a complete pause. his mind accessing that family wasn’t much of a topic between most of them but for himself? he wasn’t much of a tragedy or so he considered. if family was still off topic, the least they could do was know something else about one another, like what’s your favorite book or show but than again, did they have the free time to do so?
fingertips resting against the metallic table that separated the two as he only hummed for a moment in response. ❛ got a brother, don’t know where he is --- left me with relatives after my old man got locked up, ❜ his shoulders rise, the brunette had time to deal with everything that’s happened to him and thankfully, he didn’t end up behind bars to. ❛ after running around and avoiding the cops, he finally got caught and one crime after the other, probably won’t be out till he’s a bag of bones, ❜ whether he gets out, jack’s unsure if he’d see his brother again or there small family reunion would ever occur. hopefully his brother was at least attempting to reach him but since they’ve been called the four horsemen? wouldn’t he even be aware?

❛ we’ll at least we know what merritt would look like with hair, ❜ learning about chase was a bit of a pain but it left jack wondering about blood relations. did anyone even have a sole family member looking for them? considering his behalf, the only person out there that wasn’t behind bars was his older brother. ❛ how about you danny? got any wacky relatives? ❜ they never really did sit down and talk as a group much, concerning matters outside the group. it would be nice to know, after all, he considers merritt like a brother after the months they’ve laid low together and he looked up to danny.

Sleight of hand in close-up magic depends on the use of psychology, timing, misdirection, and natural choreography. Considering Jack’s charisma and ability to draw a crowd in with his performance and assuring that with the close proximity, it rules out stooges and fake audience members. He uses simple and most common objects, from a coin, rope, rubber band, salt shaker, and his most common use would be a deck of cards.
In association with sleight, card cheating, cardistry, and card throwing was an endless form of trial and error. Perfecting his craft, just as he did with pick pocketing to the point that he could go into a casino and get away with palming, switching, ditching, and stealing cards from the table. It did acquire extreme practice and use of misdirection. Regarding cardistry, it’s this fluid motion and an ability of impressing without illusions, deceit, misdirection and other elements commonly used in card tricks and card cheating.
The art of card throwing consist of throwing standard playing cards with excessively high speed and accuracy, powerful enough to slice fruits like carrots and even melons. In the first film, it shows how Jack has mastered it to the point that it cuts Dylan and enough force to knock Fuller back.

misdemeanors / felonies ---- theft / pick-pocketing, breaking and entering, assault, evasion, and motorcycle/motor vehicle theft.
✱ breaking & entering --- half the time, his curiosity to see what’s behind closed doors has lead him to trespassing, especially on private property. the rest of it would be considered mostly for his own shelter for the night by picking locks of older motels that still used key locks.
✱ pick-pocketing --- a skill he learned early on from his father, though he wasn’t perfect at first. he’s been caught red handed at times but his brother would be the one to get him out of it. eventually after trial and error, even learning to evade, it’s become second nature. whatever he takes usually resorts in cash or items he could pawn.
✱ assault / evasion --- referencing back to pick pocketing and how he’s been caught a couple times for stealing, jack also had to evade law enforcement. he’d even fight back, something he learned after getting into a mix of trouble, especially when they were confronted for their misdemeanors and felonies. he learned how to fight from his brother, who also taught him how to ride a motorcycle.
✱ motorcycle/motor vehicle theft --- from hot wiring a car, jack and his older brother, wiley, learned from his father. every time they needed to evade law enforcement, they’d change cars to get under the radar. sometimes when his dad required to go on his own, jack learned from his older brother on how to ride a motorcycle, keeping in mind that they stole it first.
✱ all of this is a mix of his timeline from his childhood till now & after discovering a love for magic, it also made for an interesting combination. focused on the magic trick at hand and skeptics, it’s easy for him to get away with giving a 100 dollar bill away and earning a much bigger reward, regarding the watch and the little cash he had left from his previous trick.
