INN folks! ❤️

Played board games at the INN today. It was awesome! It was great to get out of the house, and I met some new people! Woohoo!

For Ethan, and for everyone who has supported him ❤️

Today was Ethan’s day in court, and it was... it was a lot. In the end, he came out with six months of probation, provided he completes six hours of community service in the next year, and stays away from Lilia (😑) for the next three. This will mean switching schools, which sucks, but he’ll probably be able to do Running Start for a lot of it (along with his friends) and the charge has been downgraded to a misdemeanor, which will be sealed and removed from his permanent record after his probation. Phew. I wish he didn’t have to transfer, and like I said, it sucks, but it could have been SO much worse. That was because of Ethan, yeah, but mostly because of our amazing shark of a Slytherin lawyer Anna, and our big Hufflepuff CPO (Criminal Parole Officer) whose name I can’t remember (she’s amazing though). Because of them and Ethan’s evaluator, the judge assigned E less than had been agreed upon by us, which was great. Throughout the day, we’d been getting messages from various Duntons, and we got home to some Shari’s Berries from B. Plus, I messaged my Core group and they were sending prayers, too. I’m so thankful for them all, and for Ethan, who has been so good throughout all of this. He’s kind of remarkable. ❤️

For my education ❤️

I just submitted my ePortfolio for English 111, and yeah, admittedly it was 2 and a half hours late and I’m probably gonna get docked for that, and I definitely absolutely need to work on my time management skills, BUT that was a lot of work and a lot of brain power and I’m kind of amazed that I did that. 3 Revised Short Assignments, 1 Revised Major Project, and a Cover Letter. And with one exception which was 400 words, they’re all reasonably long. I think the MP was definitely my favorite. I wrote the Little Mermaid by Hand Christian Anderson as a poem in the style of the Twelve Dancing Princesses by Anne Sexton, and added a few details and slight changes from the Disney adaptation. Poetry always seems to stick with me the most, I guess because it’s the most personal. You have to choose your words so carefully, that the end result is just your artistic voice. (Huh. Cool.) Anyways, I’m just really thankful that I’m in a position in the world where I have the education to make a body of work like that, and the luxury of time to learn and develop that brain more. Thanks, Mom. Thanks, Dad. Thanks, God. ❤️

We had a lovely chat this morning, and I didn’t end up leaving until about 2 in the afternoon. She let me have some of her Cocoa Puffs, which I haven’t had in forever, and we just hug out on her futon and talked for a while. I had a really nice time. 😊 (Also. Cocoa Puffs? Delicious.)

And today, specifically Katherine. I appreciate this girl so much. Tonight was TD, and it was kind of wild. Everyone pre-gamed at Aditi’s for like an hour, and then we headed over to Hutch, where we waited almost an hour to get to TD. Waiting was actually pretty fun, though, as I got to talk to Jeremy, who I really like. Nicole had a little too much, though, and wasn’t doing so good. When we finally got in, I sat with Katherine. There were some great acts (Eli playing a saw was memorable), and after it was done everyone headed down to Drumheller to jump in the fountain. I didn’t jump myself because I didn’t have a change of clothes, but everyone was really revved up and it was a blast. I went to Aditi’s to grab my stuff, and walked with Katherine to her dorm in Madrona, where I am now. I got to talk to her room mate Michelle a bit, which was super fun, and this futon is both really spacey and really comfy. It’s cute, too! Katherine’s been wonderful this whole night, and I hope we can continue to hang out in the future!

And today, specifically Natalie. For all that she blusters and jokes and puts on a persona, she’s pretty good at being vulnerable, and we had a chance to talk at dinner today. We were talking about types, and it’s so funny to me how sometimes you ask people the simplest leading question and they become excellent at self awareness. But she also called me kind, precise, and loving, which was mostly lovely and a bit curious. Plus she had us all up in her room again. She’s cool.

And today, specifically Sagen. We got to talk for a bit, and he’s a really interesting guy. He’s originally from Norway, but spent five years in England before coming here to the PNW. He has a very lighthearted, yet protective nature, which I really appreciate and I’d love to get to know him a bit more in the future. I’ve noticed how he always looks after people when they need it, and is good at spotting it when they do. He stood up for Stevie when we were all planning that joke and I’m so glad he did because I definitely wouldn’t have known he was in such a rough place. He also always gets drinks for people at parties and makes sure everyone’s having a good time. He’s definitely an acts of service type person, which I find very refreshing in the midst of the Seattle freeze. He’s a good guy, and I trust him, which is weird, because I usually find that it takes a long time for me to trust people that implicitly.

Today was a good day. After coming home LATE last night/early this morning from Aditi’s (her apartment is really nice), I crashed. After waking up and watching a little Jane the Virgin, I cleaned a few dishes and headed to rehearsal. We changed, walked over, did a run, came back, and were released. Aditi, Aidan, Sagen, Maria, and I went to the street fair, and Andrea joined us later. It was so, so nice to just be able to hang with friends, walking around, looking, and eating. We went to Aditi’s frat’s Relay for Life thing after, and Aditi, Maria, Aidan, and I had a mini dance/Zumba session. It was so much fun, and I had a blast. I’ve missed dance. So yeah, good day, with good people. And I see th again tomorrow.

Adam, Maria, Daphne, Stevie, Nicole, Sarah, Natalie, Sajen, Andrea, Aidan, and I all went to hang at Natalie’s house last night, and while I was slightly uncomfortable at first because of the weed/vape/alcohol, I didn’t have anything and never once felt pressured to participate. It was a little wild, but everyone was so nice and it was good to hang out for a bit! Everyone was very sweet about not wanting me to bus home as late as I did, and Sarah insisted on walking me to the bus stop. Luckily, Sajen was able to detain her while I got away, because as nice as the sentiment was, Sarah was very drunk, and her coming along would have actually made me feel less comfortable. Sajen was actually so sweet, the whole night. He really looked after everyone. He’s a good guy. But yeah, I’ve never been to anything like that before! And then rehearsal ended early today and I got to hang with Megan and Maria after! We went to Tea Republic. They’re pretty great 😊.

For the community at the Inn

I got to go to Core group today, which was absolutely lovely, but I didn’t realize until we went to the Inn afterwards how many connections I’ve made with different people who go to the Inn. Through Core group, events, mutual friends, Inn services, or just hanging out at the Palmer House, I’ve met so many wonderful, friendly people, and that’s a really lovely thing to reflect on. Even if I don’t know/can’t remember their names just yet, these are people that know me, and recognize me, and I them, and that is so much what I needed earlier this year, that it’s really cool to realize I have it now. With Kelsey, Jess, and Britney, yes, but also Karissa, Mollie, Camryn, Liz, Raven, Sarah, Elsa, Hailey, Haley Osborn, Jenny, Jessie, and everyone who I’ve met at the Palmer House whose names I don’t remember! I’m starting to feel like a part of something, and I love it! ❤️

For my family ❤️

Specifically, I got to see the Chases today (they came over for Easter) and they just make me happy. Chris talked to me about college, and I felt like I could engage with him, (instead of just dumbly nodding along and feeling ignorant because I very little about what he’s talking about, which is what usually happens), so that was cool! And B! Is lovely! And Emma! I got to hang with Emma! She is such a little diva in the making sometimes, which is amusing, but mostly she’s just fun loving and fun to be around. As someone who can have kind of a childlike approach to life sometimes, being around younger kids is really good for me, both because it helps me tap into that playful, giddy side, but also because it reminds me how to be an adult. The big kid, if you will. They’re all just great, and I really enjoy seeing Mom interact with her siblings, she kind of lights up. ❤️

For my mom ❤️

We may not always speak the same language, but who else would stay up this late watching Ten Commandments with me? While both of us are actually just playing games on our phones? 😂 She also gave good commentary, complete with facts, anecdotes, and a few (but not too many) comments about the cheesiness of 50s film. I love my mom. ❤️ Happy Easter!

For my being here, close to home ❤️

I’ve been stressing and obsessing a lot this past year over what it would be like if I was somewhere else being someone else. What if I’d chosen to go to a different school? What if I chose to transfer now? Would I be happier? Feel less alone? More fulfilled? Have more direction? But the fact of it is, making the decision that I did has meant that I could both be a freshman at a good university the way I wanted, and be here with my family, through both the good and the bad. Because as much as I’ve felt like I needed them, and I’ve leaned on them a LOT in the past year, I was there to be leaned on too, I think. Or to listen when others need to talk, at least, and sometimes that’s just as good. With everything that’s gone on with Ethan and all his stuff this year, I think we really needed to be a family unit, and I’m very thankful that I’ve been here and able to be a part of that unit, at least for now.

For my voice ❤️

I love to sing, and I think I’m getting to be kind of good at it (I mean, hopefully?)? It has a very calming effect on me and I am so thankful that is something I am able to experience pn practically a daily basis.

For the people I met at Much Ado auditions ❤️

Everyone was so lovely! I LOVE Much Ado, and had a blast playing with everyone in our different scenes! I also got to introduce this guy Aidan to acting, auditioning, and the show, so I felt very knowledgeable, which was nice for a change. Plus! New friends! And old friends! Yay!

For my sister ❤️

Millie and I just hung out in our room and sang showtunes for a bit tonight, and even though I probably should have been doing homework, it was fun. Then she showed me her skin care routine, which is kind of insane. I mean, she’s in middle school, and she has a multi step skin care ritual. Hey though, she’s taking care of herself and that’s pretty admirable. Plus it was kind of cute how she showed me her various products, I felt like I was watching a YouTube tutorial. My sister the vlogger 😂. Anyways, she let me try all of her products, which was really nice, and was legitimately trying to help me better my skin. It could have easily been condescending, but it was actually very sweet. Mil and I have our difference, but at the end of the day, she’s my sister, and I loved her a lot.
