Micky turned around, interest piqued. "Oh. Hey. You just popped outta nowhere. Hi there. Uh. This is London. Unless ywant the area. In which case I ain't the best person ta ask, sorry man." He grinned at the being who had not previously been there, unphased.
Mickyâs head wasnât on walking as he made his way back from work, which had technically gotten him lost.
He wouldnât admit he was lost, but it certainly happened. Which was how Micky somehow ended up lost, in London, at nine PM, on a Friday night.

Cheerily free on his day off from both school and work, Micky was whistling. He walked with a lilt to his steps unique to extraordinarily confident and pleased young adult males. He stopped and blinked when he saw a flier for a fleamarket and immediately turned to explore.

"Oh. That's sweet then! Haha." Mickey shrugged, looking around. "I wish I had more friends, honest."

âHow does anyone survive without computer skills in this day anâ age?â Micky asked, musing half to himself and half to Crawly. âWhoâs the Owl anyway? Is he cool âsides the computer thing?â

Micky laughed a bit, yawning in the sun as they walked. âI like the sun when I donât have work to be doinâ, yâknow? Screens are harder to read in the sun, so I usually get mosta my light from the glow of a computer screen. You know⌠you sound kinda cold blooded. Are you like some sorta cold blooded demon or somethinâ? Is that possible?â

Micky grinned as he did the same with his own, mostly just to fit in with what Crawly was doing. âIâm an indoor man. Give me a bank of humming computers and warm batteries for heat and Iâll be the happiest guy in the world.â

Why is the term âfriend zoneâ so popular when the term âunrequited loveâ already exists and is more accurate? I suspect itâs because it shifts the locus of responsibility. âUnrequited loveâ focuses on the person who has the crush. The feelings being discussed are the crushing personâs, thus the responsibility in on them to get over their crush and move on. âFriend zoneâ, on the other hand, focuses on the crush objectâs choices. The phrase erases the agency of the crushing person. All blame for their pain is put on the crush object. âUnrequited loveâ is something that can happen to both sexes, but âfriend zoneâ is a sexist concept that implies that women are solely responsible for menâs happiness, and not men themselves.

Micky sat down across from him, nodding. âYeah, mate. I getcha. Iâm glad itâs spring. Itâll get warmer soon anâ we wonât have to deal with the snow or freezy rain anymore.â
