Penn actually had a protest encampment for 2 months in our dining hall, our university hasn't really cracked down hard because they think they can get away without having to disinvest. They broke that up in December, people tried to come back but faced greater repression.

Protesters waited until Penn Relays would occur before setting up a new encampment (cant bring riot cops into what is essentially an admissions advertisement) and by god they have received a lot of support from so many locals, the organizers are students and faculty, initially undergrads formed a chain to keep out zionists while setting up the tents (I think Noah schwaps/ the stranger things apartheid kid was in that group of maybe 7 zionists trying to jump over the human chain with an Israeli flag, hard to tell his face is forgetable). A group of the board at penn are zionists (Ben Platt's mom is a major donor to orgs that fund illegal settlements). The interim dean is just forwarding their written statements. The school set up cameras and what looks like wifi tracers around the encampment also.

Anyway as of day 2 it was still going strong, I'll head back this afternoon to check on it, I'm really worried nonetheless

people i know who haven't done anything except be present outside the occupied building for short amounts of time that have been put under "interim suspension" and have full charges being alleged against them, including charges of vandalism, trespassing, destruction of property, and endangering people on campus

im fairly certain the suspensions are being sent out to scare people and lessen the numbers of people outside around the occupied building, but fuck, admin does not care about the students

i cannot even BEGIN to explain why this is a bad idea
