Hey. Hey you. The person aimlessly scrolling, stuck in an immobilized standoff with your brain
It's not your fault. You won't be stuck forever. I know you're trying. I know you hate it. It's ok.
And tell the Mean Voice in your head that it's not helping. It knows as well as you do that you would get up and Just Start the task if you could. You're not doing this on purpose.
Take a deep breath. Relax your jaw. I see you trying so hard to break out of it, but you can't force it. You'll get Unstuck eventually. All you can do in the interim is be kind to yourself.

I...tried to make a meme and got carried away and made A Thing that is like partially unfinished because i spent like 3 hours on it and then got tired.
I think this is mostly scientifically accurate but truth be told, there seems to be relatively little research on succession in regards to lawns specifically (as opposed to like, pastures). I am not exaggerating how bad they are for biodiversity though—recent research has referred to them as "ecological deserts."
Feel free to repost, no need for credit

Hey!
I want to thank you all for all the support the Dot drawing received! I started working on the idea for Dot nearly a month ago, and chipping away at the design helped ease me through some loss and sad times this past February. I'm not used to getting such explosive reception to a post, but I'm thankful for all the love and support.
Anyways, off 'me soapbox- here's a little appreciative Dot.

Trying to show or at least give a feeling of size in extinct animals can be tricky without a human next to the critter. That's why I made this quick second version of my Ichthyotitan piece. Size and shape is of course partially speculative. Take it with a grain of salt!
Based on the surangular I estimated a lower jaw length of roughly 4,5 meters.

My great-grandparents loved telling stories, so you'd probably think I heard plenty of tales from Grandpa's service in WW2. You'd be wrong. He refused to talk about the war with women or children in the room, and even as a kid, that made me realize just how horrifying it must have all been.
There is nothing "cutesy uwu" about Nazism. The Nazis left a very real trail of death and destruction in their wake. We may be too young to remember, but that's why there are books, documentaries, museums, and memorials. Look at the photos of the results of the Nazis' atrocities, and tell me then if you still "Adi" was cute.
Hitler was a monster, and turning him into your silly little blorbo is immensely disrespectful to the millions (READ THAT AGAIN. MILLIONS.) of people he foisted unimaginable horrors onto.
Welcome to Blublr where I introduce you to horrors you didn't know existed!
On today's topic, uh–
[scrambles in pocket for index card]
"...Nazi fandom. #Reichblr."
Surely that's hyperbole and they're not actually–
[pulls out phone and checks tag, scrolling for a few seconds]
[lifts head and stares directly into camera, deadpan]
I don't wanna be a news anchor anymore.

The worst part is that I'm not even surprised. Disappointed, yes, but not surprised.

"why can't they just be friends" not in the homophobic way but in the "their platonic relationship in the source material is far more dynamic and complex than the sanitized personalities they gain as a result of shipping" way

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

“Mininykus”, my little speculative alvarezsaurid guy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically a tiny version of mononykus haha. I am not like a skeleton person so if I mess up in that diagram then feel free to critique it
It is a nocturnal desert dwelling theropod, with a very short stature. Only about 6-9 inches tall. It is a predator, and mainly hunts during the night. It feeds on insects, grubs, and small reptiles. They dig shallow burrows in dirt mounds, where they sleep during midday to avoid the heat. Their large eyes and whiskers aid in helping them transverse their dark environment.
It is sort of based on a jerboa, but it can’t hop. They are very good at speedwalking though.
Edit: I see some new mininykus enjoyers! Reminder that mininykus has its own tag (#mininykus) with more art and speculation!

Late Afternoon
My wrist is slowly healing (after I fell on it) and I really needed to paint something. @azyomecha sent a prompt about paradise, and that for me is an isolated beach in the late afternoon, just before it turns to evening. There's just something about the ocean that is just so healing. I used one of my favorite photos from my Indonesia trip as reference for the background.

MASKING MYTHS BUSTED: “Masking = Acting NT.”
FALSE.
Autistic masking does not necessarily mean “pretending to be allistic/neurotypical," although you’d definitely be forgiven for thinking it does.
Non-autistic researchers have been referring to it as “camouflaging” for years, framing it as an intentional choice to suppress autistic traits and replace them with allistic ones in order to “blend in.” Doing an internet search on the term will return several similar results.
But now, Autistic researchers are in the game, and their take is much more nuanced and comprehensive than that. (Funny how that happens, isn’t it?)
They’ve found that:
- It CAN be intentional but is often subconscious and involuntary
- It is a protective response to trauma and feeling unsafe
- It is often about suppressing more than just autistic traits
- It is about identity management and being able to predict how people will treat you, not just “blending in”
Some people will lean into being “the bad kid” because they know that’s what people expect of them. Some people will even act “more autistic” because they know that’s what people expect of them. Others still will do things to attract attention in controllable, more “acceptable” ways to avoid attracting attention in unsafe, more stigmatizing ways. Not because they WANT to be that way, but because it lets them predict people’s responses better, which feels safer.
Also, there are Autistic people who can’t “pass” for non-autistic no matter how hard they try. That doesn’t mean they’re not masking. They may actually be working hard to suppress A LOT, they just can’t do everything to neuronormative standards.
None of these people will be accused of “blending in,” yet they are still masking their hearts out. When we assume they are not, we miss all the harm that masking is causing them. But they are suppressing themselves and suffering the consequences of that just as much as any Autistic person whose mask successfully says, “Hey, I’m just like you!”
(For more on this, please see the work of Dr. Amy Pearson and Kieran Rose.)
