Ella walked into the bakery and gave the small boy a smile.
She loved coming to the bakery. It always smelled delicious inside.
However, she couldn’t recall ever seeing a boy here. Perhaps the
baker had hired more help? She knew this couldn’t have been his son.
He was still a baby.
❝Good morning,❞ Ella greeted and walked over to the table that separated
the two of them. ❝I was wondering if the baker was here?❞
Jack watched the other for a moment, then glanced down to
focus on the work before him. She was looking for the Baker.
Well, she certainly came to the right place. If there was one
place he would be, this bakery was certainly it.
❝He’s busy, miss,❞ the boy answered, adding some more flour
to the dough. ❝Somethin’ with the baby.❞

The woman glanced at
the other before taking
a sip from her drink.
“The proper term is shouldn’t.”
Jack stared at the other.
Goodness, was she tall.
Almost like a giant.
“Then why are you doing it?”

“Whatcha doing?”
Curious, yes, but also a little
bit suspicious. The other
seemed a little too close to
the bakery.

Rapunzel smiled and looked around at the sweets. ❝They all look
delicious!❞ she said with a grin. She looked at all of the cookies
and pastries and cakes. She simply couldn’t decide what she wanted.
She looked at the boy and smiled. ❝What’s your recommendation?❞
Jack smiled up at the woman, then looked over the good treats--some
of which he even made. ❝The cookies are great,❞ the boy said, pointing
towards them. ❝But I really like those pies. Those are my favorite.❞ After
this, he watched the woman closely, waiting to see what she would pick.

jezabelblackwood:
Eve stumbled along the path
clutching the tatters of her dress.
She wandered aimlessly across the path,
confused, lost, and hopelessly alone.
The singing caught her attention.
"Hello? Is someone there? Hello?“
Jack continued walking down the
forest path, his singing now turned
into a humming. And then he heared
the voice, and he turned towards it,
calling back to it as loud as he could.
“Hello! I’m over here!”

“I’ve heard that some men turn
into wolves during a full moon.
Wouldn’t that be scary? Not that
I’d be afraid, of course”
Then again, that’s easy enough to
say without any such creatures
about.
“Wolves! That’s incredible! But
I wouldn’t be so afraid of ’em,
either. Do you really think men
can turn into wolves?”
But were they as scary as the
giants he’d seen in the sky?

“We’ve sold our last loaf of bread!”
He calls out the words to the stranger
as they enter the bakery. It was almost
late, and the Baker had mentioned this
statement before. And, to be honest,
Jack wasn’t really in the mood of baking
another loaf at the moment.

Ava smiled at the little boy and could easily figure out why he
had grown lost. He had accidentally walked through a nearby portal.
It was a mistake most made.
❝I do, yes,❞ she said and placed her hands on her hips. ❝Welcome
to Miridia. Where are you from?❞
He’s never heard of Miridia before, and that was certainly exciting.
Jack seemed to think for a moment, as though he didn’t quite remember
what the name of where he was from was.
❝The Far Off Kingdom, miss. Not much of a name, but it’s really where
I’m from.❞ He answered.

He’s silent for a moment, watching
the little bundle for a silent while. At
last he finally speaks up, eyes glancing
towards the Baker.
“How do you get ’im to stop crying?”

the princess:
❝I suppose you could say something like that,❞ she said softly and
tucked a blond curl behind her ear. Rapunzel wasn’t exactly hiding
from anyone…unless you counted the palace guards…but she wished
to come to the market as a normal townsperson. Not a Princess.
He grinned up at her, a warm, childish look spreading across his
features. ❝Alright, miss,❞ Jack said, giving her a nod to let her know
that he wouldn’t tell anyone. ❝Are you interested in some bread? Or
some sweets? We’re not too far from the bakery.❞

kesheph:
they cock their head to the side. “Up there?” they shrug. “Okay.”
with a flick of the wrist they reach up and pull down on a cloud, dragging the whole sky down like the backdrop of a play, seamless like a magician pulling a tablecloth out from under a tower of glasses. careful what you wish for around a witch.
and suddenly he’s no longer daydreaming--he is now completely aware of what is happening and it frightens him, almost enough to knock him off his perch. but nonetheless he stands up now, watching the other with wide eyes.
“What----?” he can’t even get the words out. “How are you doing that?”

⎨the witch⎬
She knows she was being watched.
It isn’t entirely unusual being a Witch.
She can see the boy and she can’t
help but feel as if she is being stared
at.
“Say what you wish to say or be
on your way.”
He frowns, and now he brings his
fingers together to twiddle them. And
then suddenly remembers and reaches
for his sack, pulling out a bundle and
unwrapped it.
“Bread?”

“A giant?” Why is there a giant here?
“Yes.” He looked a little timid as he said that.
