i personally call myself an anti even though my opinions technically align more with yalls specifically because i've engaged with the proship community and i've seen how it really is.
i used to run a discourse blog for a little while and i ended up with a lot of proship/profic followers. for a little while, i did consider myself to be a proshipper, because technically that's what i am. i had it in my bio and shit, talked about how stupid antis are, etc.
i ran the blog for 4-5 months i believe. i started it with the logic that "yeah, just because people enjoy pedophilic/incestuous ships or whatever it doesn't make them an actual pedophile."
...
and then a shit ton of actual pedophiles and zoos started following me. "proud MAP" in the bio, "pride flag" in the pfp. i had a blocklist at least a mile long on that blog. it got so bad i eventually just quit.
i would've never in a million years thought that the statement "pedophiles are bad" would be controversial, and yet it was. and it made me reflect on the community i was part of.
obviously not ALL proshippers are pedophiles, but god DAMN were there a lot of them lurking around in the same circles. i have never before and never since had anyone follow any of my blogs while also proudly proclaiming themselves to be pedos/zoos/etc. and i blocked at least 100+ blogs in the few months i ran that proship blog.
i genuinely don't care if my thoughts align with those of proshippers, i refuse to use the label anymore.
-anti anon
It's fair to not want to use the label, yikes. Especially because I've noticed that every 'MAP' I've met has been pro/complicated contact and that's just ugh.

The notes in that rpf poll are literally making me sick. Oh, you're a "reformed real person shipper"? Oh you were only a silly teen? STFU. Like actually, grow up more. There's nothing wrong with RPF. Movies are often RPF, because people will write it with certain actors in mind. Historical fiction is RPF. SNL is RPF. Some centuries-old plays are RPF!
The only problem would be if it's being sent to the celebrity unsolicited, or people are harassing the real people to be in a real relationship. But that's not a normal part of writing RPF! Thats a PARASOCIAL problem; a HARRASSMENT problem; not a writing problem. That's more like what antis do to "out" people, or what people who can't tell fiction from reality do.
Genuinely hope all the people judging RPF purely on existing grow out of their ridiculousness. You don't have to like reading it. But judging a FRIEND because they start WRITING it??? What the actual fuck y'all.

people will be like "you can't ship incest that's disgusting and morally reprehensible >:(" and then never shut up about sexual cannibalism and toxic yuri and murder as a form of love. do they not see the double standard? none of those things are acceptable irl and that's the point!! we explore them in fiction it's all fiction. characters are pretend

Looks like Wattpad is having a NSFW purge. People are talking about it on r/wattpad and r/fanfiction. Anyone here use wattpad and notice? I wonder what the scale and criteria they are using is.

@ users on this site who want to be pro-nsfw and keep the internet from becoming a squeaky clean corporate hellscape: make peace with proshippers and profiction as a whole. I mean it, the internet will never be the pro-nsfw paradise you want it to be if you keep going "I'm for the internet being a weird place of creativity UNLESS you're one of those freaks that makes that kind of content"

Is anyone gonna explain to people that ‘proship’ does not actually mean ‘problematic shipping’ or are we just going to let this misinformation spread some more?
It means pro-shipping. The prefix pro, meaning ‘supporting.’ In favor of shipping.
It only became a defined position after anti-shippers who initially identified themselves as anti-a specific ship started harassing creators they didn’t like, doxxing them, and trying to get them fired from their irl jobs for shipping reasons around 2014-2016.
So people who had been in fandom for long enough to know where that kind of rhetoric leads (ffnet purges, LJ strikethru, as well as the direct harms caused by doxxing) observed this increasing trend of harassment and rallied to say ‘oh you lot are anti-shipping, as in opposed to certain ships? Well in that case, we are pro-shipping, because we follow the adage of ship and let ship.’
Before that point, it was just basic fandom etiquette to not bother people who ship stuff you don’t like, and to understand that if something squicks you out, it’s not the fault of the people who made it.
If someone says they are pro-ship, it means fuck all about what they actually enjoy in fiction.
It just means they’re opposed to harassing creators for making content that doesn’t cause tangible harm to real people. A better way to understand the ideological position is being anti-harassment and anti-censorship.
I have a lot of ships I find disgusting blacklisted so I don’t have to see them. But I am not interested in forcing people to comply with what I think is gross. That’s what it means.
Curate your online experience, and understand that your disgust response is not a defensible moral indicator or a justification to harass, deplatform, and dox fan writers.

I really want to find more anti blogs that do deep dives into character/meta analysis and narrative structure.
I think shipping is a really disgusting way to engage art/media, and I absolutely don't understand why it's a Thing people do.
But whenever I find an interesting Tumblr that can speak eloquently about a character and their arc, it's always a fucking shipper (so of course they write fanfiction).
I just want to read from antis about the art, and I want people to criticize fandom at the same time.
Because the ways fans behave is pathological. We need socialiam so you can go to therapy.

Casual Anna and Elsa commissioned by @maxyms.kun on instagram.
The design of Elsa’s sweater is a combination of the spirits symbology and Jack Frost pullover(the frozen sleeves) and I think it is really cute, well, especially on Elsa XD
Hope you like,
Vago

Anyway, I hold true to this:
The world needs unhinged, fucked-up, 'oh, I didn't know that could be presented in an erotic lens', unabashed, filthy content now more than ever in the face of commercial markets that strive to only be evermore sanitized.
So keep making violent video games, keep writing smut, keep drawing porn, and keep supporting those that do.
Because it is not getting any easier out there and sometimes the most damaging wounds are being inflicted by people who should be our neighbors in the creative landscape.

"taboo media is normalises its subjects and thus is used for grooming therefore we need to ban taboo media" is, in fact, not the progressive take you think it is and is incredibly victim blame-y as it implies it's the victim's fault for liking taboo media, and if they never got into it, they never would've been groomed
