I doubt Aaron is going to die but I can’t help but fear that Lopez will end up naming her second kid after another person she has taken under her wing and was shot.
I legit wanna know like HOW ARE PEOPLE BEING DISAPPOINTED do you have any idea how fed we are being for a procedural cop show that doesn't focus on relationships???
Throughout season 4, I feel like there was a lot of confusion about Lucy’s character development (or lack thereof). It’s something I’ve been trying to make sense of, too. Initially, I thought maybe the writers just didn’t know what to do with her. And maybe that was the case. But now that we’re seeing her be a total badass in season 5, I’m wondering if maybe it wasn’t. What if Lucy’s seemingly random and sometimes out-of-character behaviors and her lack of professional progression throughout season 4 was intentional?
Between the barrel, the fallout with her parents, and the loss of Jackson, Lucy had a year from absolute hell. It’s completely understandable that she’d be struggling to come to terms with everything and to find her place in this world where she’s basically estranged from her parents and her best friend is dead. For as much as we know that Tim is closed off, Lucy is actually very much the same. Yes, she’s bubbly and friendly and empathetic and she likes to talk things out, but she doesn’t truly open up to just anyone. And she’d just lost one of the few people she felt comfortable opening up to.
I’ve always felt like part of the reason she fought so hard to be Tim’s aide was because he was the one remaining constant in her life and she really craved that security and feeling of safety. She needed someone she could talk to. She needed support. She needed a reminder of the more confident and capable woman she’s become. Once she was riding with him again, I think she was content to just cruise along in the comfort and familiarity, and to find little moments of joy wherever she could (making bets, teasing him, etc).
John Nolan, is my favourite character, I admit that. And a lot of that comes from the fact I relate to him as a character. His attempts to help everyone, finding value in that to the point he will suppress his emotions to not inconvenience or bother other people. But that’s not what I want to talk about although I could go into a whole ramble about his character.
What I want to talk about is him and Bailey.
Ever since Bailey has been introduced it feels like Nolan hardly gets any story without her. And to a certain degree I understand that but it bugs me how she will show up at his place of work. Which again I understand her being a firefighter it’s going to happen occasionally. But lately it seems like she’s just always there.
And just I’m not vibing with Nolan and Bailey’s relationship. I don’t like how Bailey has next to no flaws, the only one being that she isn’t good at art. She reminds me of a Wattpad main character which is kind of annoying. I could definitely get more into this but
I guess I’m wondering to anyone who’s interested in having a discussion, ‘do you like Bailey?’ ‘What are your thoughts on Nolan and her relationship?’ Or just any thoughts you have on this topic at all.
People actually being upset that Ashley was the one to break up with Tim and it having nothing to do with Lucy are kind of missing the point, he was so clearly trying to force himself to stay with an easy safe-bet rather than dare be with Lucy when she 1) was his rookie and then his aide and it might make her look bad to date her boss, 2) is an undercover officer just like his ex wife who traumatised him, and 3) is obviously the one he really loves but is in her own relationship with someone who almost died and he knows she blames herself for that
He showed no genuine feelings for Ashley, he showed himself trying too hard, and building up a fantasy even though he knew deep down the whole time, since she admitted she didn’t want kids, that the relationship was doomed
Ashley dumping Tim for the reason she did was a good thing, she ended the relationship because she didn’t have it in herself to spend the rest of her life with someone she’d always have to worry about, Tim isn’t just a cop he is a solider, he will never stop being a solider, and the woman he is with needs to understand that and be able to power through her worries, Lucy is that woman, she proved that when she became sergeant for a day while he was in the hospital and then came to his bedside after his surgery the moment she could
Tim knows his feelings for Lucy are real and only getting stronger, but he’s scared, and he needed to be left by another woman that didn’t love him as he is, to be reminded that there is one woman still standing by him for exactly who he is
