After some consideration and several requests, I’ve decided to delete the original post about the Super Bowl ad that was made out of sheer ignorance.
Although, I feel that hiding the evidence is cowardly. Someone somewhere is going to bring this up eventually, so I might as well make sure that people know what happened instead of letting that someone overexaggerate and make it worse than it was.
So, the original post has been displayed below this text, with just a few adjustments to make sure that bigotry out of ignorance will not be praised again.
If I could clarify one thing, that post was referring to the Super Bowl ad about the hostages and I was never aware of the #StopJewishHate ad. I didn’t even watch the damn Super Bowl in the first place because I never cared about sports. I’ve mentioned that a few times but I wanted to make it clear. That doesn’t justify anything I said in that post, nothing does.

As someone who was once stupid enough to believe that Israel was using the Super Bowl as some “mAsTer PlAn”, seeing people believe the exact same 4chan conspiracy bullshit with the Oscars only a month later has created an incurable anger that can’t be truly expressed beyond an incomprehensible verbal collage of profanity.

There’s still a lot I could try to say but it doesn’t change anything nor does anyone care unless you give them the antisemitic rage-bait they want.
No hashtag or slogan is going to solve anything. Everyone is aware of what’s going on by now, or at least an unfortunately surface-level understanding of it. What people fail to understand is that a black-and-white mentality can’t work here. Both sides of the conflict feed off each other and take pride in slaughter after slaughter. No matter what side they choose, everyone on social media eats this shit up and doesn’t question anything. How people have chosen to respond to the Isreal-Palestine conflict has been absolutely vile. No, I’m not just referring to the side you hate, I’m talking about everyone. You, me, all of us.
After falling for the ragebait myself, trying to be a better person and spread a more informed view has become a meaningless endeavour. Who cares unless you mindlessly worship those who harm women and children in the name of freedom? (Again, that isn’t just the side you hate.)
I’m tired. There’s still a few people agreeing to a post that wasn’t informed beyond some YouTube thumbnail and a couple tumblr posts. That was my post. I let myself fall to their level, and there’s going to be much more people who will succumb to it.

Hard to believe Nine Inch Nails' classic The Downward Spiral is 30 years old today! Here is some detail photography I took of the original album cover painting by Russell Mills for the 10th anniversary deluxe edition release, which I had the unique honor of designing, and somehow that is now 20 year old.
Everyone has that one album that hit at just the right moment of adolescence to change their perspective on music and get them through their teenage angst. The Downward Spiral was that album for me, released as it was in 1994, when I was a freshman in high school (and an absolute banner year for music/films/games all around). I must have stared at the artwork for hours over those years, without even much detail to draw from on its tiny 5” CD slip case. So five years later, when I found myself inexplicably working for Nine Inch Nails, it was surreal to see the actual original painting in the flesh, hanging as it was at the time in Trent Reznor’s office at Nothing Studios, New Orleans.
I was struck by how much dimension and texture there was in the artwork that never translated on that tiny slipcase printing, how much detail was happening in the physical materials of the art: Flies, moths, wires, blood… I had been staring at this “painting” for so long, yet suddenly it was like I had never seen it before. I also noticed that it had aged - the wires had wilted over the years, drooping down from their original position as captured in the original album cover (interestingly, judging by the photo posted today by NIN, the piece has since been restored); a tooth was missing from the other main piece.
That experience stuck with me and it was the first thing I thought about when the task of re-imagining the album package fell upon me in 2004. I wanted to re-photograph the artwork, subtly updating the cover to show that ten years had changed it physically, much like our perceptions of art and music and memories change over time with perspective. I also wanted to dig into the previously unseen details of the work and explore it with my macro lens, so that fans like me, old and new, could have new layers of texture to pore over for hours while listening to a legendary album.

Reminder that John Aziz is a Palestinian man living in the UK, and he's generally pretty legit and consistent in calling for peace, so I'm inclined to think the video is real. I've seen people who can read Arabic on twitter say the signs are calling for hostages to be released, too (I need to take their word for it because I can't read or speak Arabic lol)
These are brave people. Peace must be the way forward.
