He tossed it to the side, and let his hands fall to his belt.
Jack’s fingers were deft as they slipped open his belt, pulling the leather free from the loops with a small hiss of friction. His lashes dipped low as he returned to the bed, crawling back up to loom over his lover’s larger frame.

Ryan bit his lip as Jack pulled away from him and gave him a little show. Jack knew his worries about the pack and was glad for the fact that he had Kris and Austin in his life, knowing exactly whom he would trust to run things after he was gone. But he didn’t have to worry too much about that, but then he was lucky.
The red head’s hands stroked lightly over his lover’s belly, feeling the distinct swell with a happy little content noise in the back of his throat. “Right now, I just want to cuddle up here and bask in how amazing you are…” He shifted up to press a kiss to Ryan’s cheek, nuzzling his neck softly as he jsut basked in the comfort that being close to Ryan provided.

Nuzzling back into Jack’s cheek, he felt a soft purr in the back of his throat at how good this all felt. He felt... almost glorious in this moment. Running his fingers through Jack’s hair, he tilted his mate to be’s face up to his and pressed a soft yet hungry kiss to his mouth. “I think that sounds heavenly...”
His hands slowly slid down Jack’s back and he cupped the redhead’s ass as he pulled him close. His voice was low and honeyed as he said, “I know a way to help you unclench a little.” Pressing a soft kiss to Jack’s throat, he added, “I can’t wait until we’re one again...”

Jack was momentarily mesmerized by the differences in their skin before he looked up at his mate to be’s question. He smiled, though his eyes seemed a touch tired. “Just a small issue with a pack mate but it’ll pass.” He yawned slowly and with a gentle hand tugged his lover toward their bed, guiding Ryan’s body down before he curled u next to him, arranging himself so that he could rest his ear on the other’s belly.
“I’m a bit worried…I’ve been seeing Vin around town more and…I don’t know I feel like their are more members of the circus here now. I think I’m just tired from the job search and all the other excitement.”
Ryan smiled as he was lead over to the bed and he let Jack take care of him. These quiet moments were nice especially since he was having a heck of a time trying to get somethings set up before he went on maternity leave. There were provisions to write and he was looking into appointing someone to take over for him while he recovered.
The only real Alpha he could ask that he really trusted—and didn’t have a pregnant mate —was William and he thought the boy was too young for that. But they had months to plan and it didn’t all have to happen today.
Stroking his fingers through the bright red strands, he smiled as Jack took some comfort from leaning into his body. “No matter what Vin’s planning, we’ll get through it together. I’m here for you and I always will be.” Smiling at his mate-to-be, he asked, “Do you want a nap? Or is there something else you’d like to do?”

Luciel would have run if he wasn’t in an iron grip of the other wolf, eyes dark with anger as he was observed like a bug under glass. Why was the guy looking at him like that? Was he trying to memorize his face to report him later? He was opening his mouth to say something else but he jerked slightly at the job offer.
Really it was more generous than he was expecting but after a moment he nodded. “I can unpack books…” He pulled himself free of Ryan’s iron grip and held out the wallet with a heavy frown.
Letting the young man slip from his grasp, Ryan took the wallet back and slipped it back into his coat pocket, flashing the subtle roundness of his abdomen. Now he was hyper aware of where his wallet was and he wouldn't let the younger man get a second chance. He didn't want to not trust the young man, but they were on shaky ground from the start.
"Follow me." They were only a few doors down from his shop so it only took a few minutes to get there, and as Ryan unlocked the door, there was a look of thoughtfulness on his face. Opening it wide, he let Luciel go first before he folloed and stripped his coat, his little bump more pronounced. Settling it over a spare chair, he said, "Follow me. The boxes are back here."

He was going to have to find a better way to make money or risk getting caught. Still he was making a decent off living off morons like Davis to keep himself going. He jerked and coughed loudly as he was yanked off of his feet, squirming and flailing around until his face protecting goggles slid down his face and around his neck. He paused, panting heavily as he spun back around to look at the Omega holding his shoulder firmly.
“I need the money…I have a family to take care of.” Luciel’s eyes dragged over the other, taking in his rather put together appearance, lips turning into a snarl. “You look like you ain’t hurting for cash.”
Ryan almost felt bad for the young man, almost ready to let him go until he snarled at him. Keeping an eye on the young man, he said, “That may be, but that still doesn’t mean you can steal.”
There was something about the snarl that looked familiar as well as the shape of his eyes. Ryan knew almost everyone in town—aside from the new arrivals—but this young man almost looked like some one he knew... and it was driving him nuts that he didn’t know who it was.
Taking in the young man’s appearance, he had a feeling he wasn’t being lied to about the money. “If you need some money, I have a job for you. I need help with unloading a few boxes in my store. Do a good job, and I’ll give you some money.” The close quarters would also give Ryan a chance to figure out where he was from.

Jack stood in the doorway for a few moments just watching his lover look at the slowly rounded out belly. He didn’t make any noise but just grinned from ear to ear with the pride of a wolf that had done his job well. Once Ryan was sure of his presence though he couldn’t help but chuckle softly. “I see you’re admiring my handiwork there, luv?” He stepped up behind him and twined his arms around his lover’s body, nuzzling into his spine.
“I appreciate the admiration but you’re doing most of the hard work here.” He rubbed a hand over Ryan’s growing belly and smiled brightly, pressing close. “God…you just look so good like this, like you’re on fire from the inside with happiness.” The red head pulled away and moved so he could kiss Ryan, full on the lips.
“How are you feeling today, luv?”
Ryan smiled and went back to looking at his belly in the mirror as Jack came up behind him. The paleness of Jack’s hands against his belly had him smiling and leaning back just a little. The Beta was shorter than him, but it really wouldn’t be too much longer before Jack would be unable to wrap his arms around him.
Sighing contentedly as Jack kissed him full on the mouth, he said, “I feel like I could burst from how happy I am. I have you and we’re having a baby...” Leaning into Jack, just a little bit, he pressed a little kiss to his mouth and said, “Plus, I woke up with no morning sickness and ate real food today.”
Sweeping his fingers through the bright red strands, he asked, “How’ve you been, dearest?”

Ice Cream and Chance Meetings
It had started with mint chocolate chip ice cream.
He was told it was far too early to be having cravings, but he’d been wanting some like it was going out of style for a week. He dreamed about it last night and could almost taste it he wanted some so badly. So, after he closed up the shop to go home, he made a quick stop to get him some.
Getting wrapped up in the confection, he wasn’t paying attention to where he was going. He probably wouldn’t have noticed that he was being pick-pocketed if it hadn’t been for the fact he felt the hand barely graze his tiny baby bump. Grabbing for the collar of the young man's coat, he growled out, “That’s not nice. Put it back.”

My Sunshine
Ryan stood in his and Jack’s shared bedroom, looking in the mirror with his shirt off. His hand curved over his belly and he smiled softly as he did so. He was due in August, but he was already starting to show a little bit. His midwife had assured him that it was okay since it was his first baby and a little extra weight was okay since he hadn’t been overdoing it, but there were times he had those little insecurities that he was getting too fat.
He’d been taking it easy—napping often, not stocking shelves in the store, and bringing his paperwork home with him—but as he moved toward his second trimester some of his worries were eased. He hadn’t made much of an announcement other than telling John because he was afraid of losing the baby. He was an older mother and he didn’t want to jinx it.
But Jack always made his worries melt away.
Hearing the door open behind him, he smiled and said, “I was just thinking about you.”

“He doesn’t need an Alpha….he has me.” Jack was wrapped back around Ryan in a protective manner, growling lightly. He knew that the doctor was Regenbogen and that there were a lot of traditionalists up to the top of the pack heirarchy, but he wasn’t going to put up with it. Still even as his anger was bubbling for the doctor there was so much joy in him.
He was going to be a daddy, He laughed into Ryan’s ear, muttering even as the doctor was filling out paperwork. He grinned and whispered all the plans that they could make, the family that they were growing.
One hand slid down to touch his lover’s body, his palm flat against where Ryan’s body would swell. “I love you more than anything.”
There was a moment he was a little worried Jack would go after the doctor—Ryan was pretty close to doing it himself—but when his boyfriend started laughing in his ear, he knew he was going to be okay. The two of them could get through anything, so long as they were together.
A grin from ear to ear crossed his face as he heard all these grand plans for the two of them and their baby. There was just something so wonderful about having a partner that was with him all the way. He could easily imagining the things Jack was talking about: first steps, first haircuts, first words. It was all just so wonderful...
The hand to his belly had him smiling and he couldn’t help but to press a soft kiss to his forehead. His voice was soft as he said, “This baby’s going to have so much love...” Tilting Jack’s face up, he pressed a kiss to his mouth and said, “When we get home, I want to cuddle and make out with you. And watch something nice so I can drift off when I get tired.”

The doctor’s energy was enough to have a low growl buzzing in Jack’s chest, arms twining just a little tighter around the other’s body. He tucked his face against Ryan’s body and just listened, one big ball of tension as he listened to the medical wolf’s words. Though as it sunk in what he was saying his muscles unknit, slowly unwinding until he realized what was being said.
Ryan had conceived.
They were going to be daddies…
Jack couldn’t help himself. He popped up off of his seat with a whoop, cheering and twining himself around his lover.
Letting out a startled sound as he was pulled into a surprise hug, Ryan started laughing and grinning at how happy Jack was at the news. One could even call him overjoyed and Ryan was over the moon. Hugging Jack back, he pressed a kiss to his boyfriend’s mouth. He wanted this moment to last as long as possible...
But then the doctor coughed to get their attention, Ryan looked away from Jack and found himself blushing a little. “Is there anything I need to know?”
The old man harrumphed and said, “The nurse will have a packet for you... I only hope that you have an Alpha. This won’t stand with the pack, you know that?”
Ryan frowned. “The pack will just have to get used to it. Things are changing. And they’ll continue to change. Besides... I’m not the first leader to have an heir without being mated first.” Turning back to Jack as the doctor left the room in a huff, Ryan slid a hand through Jack’s hair and kissed him. “Our child won’t have to deal with this stuff... by the time they take over—if they want—we’ll be old news by then.” A soft smile crossed his face as he said, “Jack... I love you... and we’re gonna be daddies.”

Jack had never been fond of the doctor, he’d never needed it before past the circus medic…excepting for his recent arm break…and he didn’t like the way they poked and prodded at his Ryan. He was like a distempered cat, head resting in Ryan’s lap possessively as he let the Omega stroke him. He was slightly nauseous himself as he waited for the doctor’s return, wanting so much to hear good news.
He was sure that some out there thought he was crazy wanting to have children before he was mated and at such a young age, but he knew what he wanted.
The Beta sat up as the doctor walked back in, shifting up so he could twine his arms tightly around Ryan’s body.
Ryan loved the fact that Jack was possessive of him. It made him feel like he was the most important person in the world whether Jack meant it that way or not. Plus, it let him know that Jack would take care of him and their future children in a way that no other man who had come before him would.
The doctor was a good man—one who had been around longer than some of them had been alive—but Ryan knew that if he was pregnant, he’d get care elsewhere. He’d heard the old man muttering to himself about how it was a shame he wasn’t mated; it was something that simply wasn’t important to Ryan. Not in the grand scheme of things anyway.
“Seems like congratulations are in order, Mr. Hoffmann. You successfully conceived during your heat. I sure hope you two know what you’re doing.”
Ryan smiled down at Jack and he said, “I can’t believe it. We’re going to be daddies...”
