After must anticipation, Mat McHugh (of The Beautiful Girls) releases his second solo album, Go Don't Stop. Although this is only an EP, it is fill with four amazing tracks. Go Don't Stop is one of my favourite songs off the album. Mat does a great job creating a song about his love for life. If you get a chance I highly recommend listening this EP.

Fuego Equals Fire...
"¡Y grita fuego! mantenlo prendido ¡fueeego!  no lo dejes apagar. Y no lo dejes apagá"
Like its namesake, Bomba Estereo's track, Fuego, definitely brings that fire and heat to the table. I'm just loving the unique mixtures of genres that Bomba Estereo uses and the intensity that Liliana Saumet adds to her vocals.
Band: Bomba Estereo
Album: Blow Up
Song Style: Cumbé / Reggae / Electro

Summer Must Have...
"I was born in a season where the world was quiet and cold, celebrations were going on. Some were happy, some were sad, some felt bad from being good, some felt good from being bad, feelings pass and change. But they never leave, they here too stay..."
Hands down this is the best remixed Hip Hop/ Dub album out there. Max Tannone does a brilliant  job mixin' old school dub beats with vocals from lyrical poet, Mos Def. To me this definitely a must have album for the upcoming summer. So if you're into dub and hip hop this is the album for you.
Fan of History Town? The come and grab your FREE copy of the Mos Dub album. Also check out Max Tannone's website for more mixes, including Dub Kweli (Talib Kweli's dub mix) and Jaydiohead (Jay-Z versus Radiohead).

It's 90s Dancehall Time!
"Say reggae music run di world, me respect dat. Cuz everytime we touch the mic dem screaming Boom-Shak-A-Tak. Could all massive catch di vibes we on all after dat. Dis is a lesson, definition of the Boom-Shak-A-Tak..."
Amazing dancehall tune from 90s duo, Born Jamericans. Just loving the overall vibe and melody in Boom Shak A Tak. I think I first came across the Born Jamericans in Hawaii. They were playing the duo's other hit, Send My Love, wasn't too too crazy about that song, I thought it was a little too lovey dovey for me. But after hearing Boom Shak A Tak I thought this band had a unique reggae style and is band definitely worth sharing.
Side Note: After the Born Jamericans slip Notch, one of the members, went on to pursue a solo career. Notch released a reggaeton album a few years ago called, Raised By The People. Having own the cd, I'd say it's a pretty good reggaeton album, there is a good mixture of genres.
Band: Born Jamericans
Album: Kids From Foreign
Song Style: Dancehall / Reggae / Ragga
Country: America
+ Lovin' the Born Jamericans? Then check out Yardcore off their Yardcore album.

Ska. Ska. Ska.
"How you feel so lonely girl? You don't know how it feels, you don't know what it's like to live blue days and toss and turn at night. So how you push me out to sleep at night. I'm on a road with no direction, my sentimental heart is getting nasty infections. My mind is roaming, a thought as I ponder and when I go to sleep I often wonder..."
Here's another great ska band from the shores of Hawaii. Push Me Out is definitely my favourite song from Go Jimmy Go.
Band: Go Jimmy Go
Album: Soul Arrival
Song Style: Ska / Rocksteady / Reggae
Country: America
+ Lovin' Go Jimmy Go's style? Then check out In Between Times off of their album, The Girl With The Fishbowl Eyes.

"Deixa, deixa, deixa, eu dizer o que penso dessa vida, preciso demais desabafar. Eu já falei que tenho algo a dizer, e disse. Que falador passa mal e você me disse. Que cada um vai colher o que plantou. Porque raiz sem alma como o flip falou, é triste..."
Marcelo D2 is by far one of my favourite artist to come out of Brazil. I first came across Marcelo D2 about 5 years when I picked up Timeless (a Sergio Mendes album), where Marcelo D2 featured in a song called Samba da Benção. After hearing that song I instantly became a fan. So, if you love hip hop and have a thing samba infused beats then Marcelo D2 is definitely worth checking out.
Desabafo is a bit different from the older Marcelo D2 tunes, in my opinion it's more hard hitting and has a bit more hip hop flavor, but I still love it the same. You can find Desabafo off his album A Arte Do Barulho or off the Fast Five soundtrack.
If you would like to hear some of Marcelo D2's older stuff, I highly recommend listening to his live album, Acústico MTV. In this album you can really hear the amazing fusion between Brazilian hip hop and samba music.
Band: Marcelo D2
Album: A Arte Do Barulho
Song Style: Hip Hop / Samba / Alternative
Country: Brazil
+ If you're loving Marcelo D2, you should check out À Procura da Batida Perfeita off of his album, À Procura da Batida Perfeita.

"Any wish we've made, any way we go. Any broken day is a lonely road. Any way we fall down, well I'm on my knees. Then I hear you call out, I hear you calling me. The F the E the A the R we keep you where you are. Your pity will always be just silent screams. Swimming in a wishing well of empty dreams..."
The track, Hear You Calling, from this up and coming aussie artist was like love at first listen. The winning combination between Kid Mac and Mat McHugh (lead singer of The Beautiful Girls) is just amazing. I can't wait to hear more tunes from Kid Mac and am now patiently awaiting the release of his first full length album.
You find Kid Mac's singles on iTunes and you can also download his mixtape for free off his website.
