That made Severus grow quiet, as he was unsure of what to say. “Whatever,” he grumbled, going back to his work.

“well, i guess that means we don’t really have to worry about one of us finding the other weird or anti-social, then,” she smiled. truth be told, nessa did want to spend more time with people. unfortunately with all the time that she put into her school work and quidditch practice, she wasn’t sure how she’d make time. she was too afraid to ease up on her schedule, lest she get worse and let her parents down.
but this was nice–talking to severus felt nice. he had a calm aura about him, and it made vanessa feel comfortable. “how’s the bruise feeling?” she asked him, cocking her head to see if the potion had gone opaque yet.
“I guess you’re right about that,” he nodded a little. He was never really good at keeping up with his peers, he preferred to spend too much time alone for that. Every time a friendship presented itself to Severus, his antisocial tendencies killed it.
“Better, thank you,” he said, his hand moving up to wipe it off, “It feels like it went away, did it?”

rushing through the halls wasn’t exactly something whittier was good at - she had absolutely no coordination - however, her roommate hadn’t woken her up on time as she’d promised the night before, and she was desperate to get to her class. croissant in hand, her ineptitude caught up with her as she tripped over her own feet, crashing into the person in front of her. “oh no, i’m so sorry, i really can be such an idiot sometimes,” her voice was quiet, the last part mostly directed at herself, rather than the person she’d practically run over.
Severus tripped when the girl crashed into him from behind, stumbling and somehow managing to steady both him and the girl, “It’s okay,” he said, the smallest of laughs passing through his lips, “Are you alright?”

it was way past her bedtime. still, with a potions, charms, & defense against the dark arts assignment all due within the next few days, lily couldn’t turn herself in.
the library was almost empty, besides a few professors & a couple students who were no doubt in the same scathing situation. curfew was in under an hour, & she was getting absolutely nowhere. in a way, she was glad she wasn’t alone. across the room, she noticed a peer in a similarly tired situation. ‘ i could take a look at it ? your paper ? ’ the gryffindor offered, extending a sympathetic glance. collecting her papers, she slid from her seat to sit across from the other’s. ‘ … sometimes it helps to get a fresh pair of eyes, and honestly ? i think if i work on mine any longer, i may just go completely insane. ’
Severus’ head shot up from his assignment as the girl sat down, and his first instinct was complete panic. He knocked a book over by accident, sending several of his papers sailing to the ground. He rushed the collect them, pushing them back onto the table he was working at. Lily must not have recognized him until she sat down, that must of been it, and now she would- run or insult him, or both?
He stalled his hands for a second, his voice cracking as he spoke, “Uh- are you talking to me?”

She knew it had been a bit of a low blow to mention Evans but she couldn’t help herself. “Yeah, I wish I cared Snape, but I really don’t, So I will share my ideas with you thank you very much.” She leaned in closer and whispered. “Besides I think we all know who has the better standing socially in the house and among those who matter.”
He stiffened when she lowered her voice, looking her in the eye, “Do you honestly think I care about something as ridiculous as social status? Status does not equal intelligence, and all it is, is priding yourself on something you happened to be born into and nothing you actually earned.”
