Some of the breathtaking art created for the VHS covers of Shelley Duvall’s Faerie Tale Theatre.
Actor Doug Gardiner detailed his hunt for the material in an awesome blog about the artwork that contains the above scans & many more, alongside lots of information about their creation.

I apologize for the recent hiatus. Joss Whedon destroyed my fragile psyche but I’ll be back as soon as I delete my Netflix!

Vellucent vellum bookbinding. Bound early 20th century by Cedric Chivers, Bath.
Vellucent vellum is a technique developed by Cedric Chivers (c1853-1929) around 1903. It is designed not only for the protection of leather bindings, but also to protect covers bearing coloured designs painted on paper (usually pictorial in nature) attached to the boards, and then covered with vellum. The surface of the vellum itself can be tooled in gold, thus further enhancing the entire effect. This is one of two volumes, each with a different pictorial design.
