but she didn't die alone. at world's end, she and apollo were tired, and the fight was long over.

i always wondered why they all came back for more?

anyway i FINALLY figured out how to get the yorha sleeves on this gear (which u may or may not remember as my all time favorite gear for l'aiha) despite the 4 material limit and now i'm grappling between if i want to make it her canon dt outfit. it was her canon outfit for most of ew but what if i just did it again because i love it so much and now i love it even more because i can see her circle of knowing tattoo on it.

realized after the fact the colorset + metadata edits i made to that gear l'aiha's wearing in that recent gpose was lost between the 17 times i had to repackage it and now it's going to BOTHER ME for the rest of time

I strongly prefer it when the Scions *don't* have Ancient counterparts.

I think it means more if they're part of the new souls born to the star either after Zodiark's first summoning or after the Sundering. Which is a whole thing!

Importantly, those were the souls that the Convocation were going to sacrifice to Zodiark to bring back the Ancients they lost.

To me, I think it's vastly important that G'raha, Y'shtola, Urianger, Thancred, the twins, that all of them are people Emet-Selch would throw away without a second thought. That to him, you're the only one worth half a damn... And broken as you are, only half a damn. And before he lets himself accept that you really are what's left of Azem, you're just someone else he's convinced isn't a person.

But I think these are the very souls Azem left the Convocation to save, even if Azem still didn't want to break the world. And these are the souls that Venat and the Twelve did break the world to save.

To me that's so much more important than any reincarnation romance (much as I adore that kind of story too). That to Azem and to you, these people matter anyway.

thinking about that moment late Shadowbringers where Y'shtola expresses that she kind of wishes she too had been granted the gift of the Echo, that she might be able to peer into the WoL's heart, and juxtaposing it with this other moment before one of the dungeons that she's looking forward to being able to drop the air of absolute self-control that she's presented to the Night's Blessed and really cut loose and unleash her powers for a change, and it's like... both of these are more or less incidental dialogue, stray almost throwaway lines, and yet...

For as much as she found a place amongst the Night's Blessed, and for how content and comfortable she was with them, she still never really let them see who she is under the surface. She never felt so comfortable as to drop her tightly controlled presentation, to let the mask drop and show her heart in full. For as much as she identifies with, and misses them, she still never let them truly know her - not the way that Y'mhitra, or the real Master Matoya, or even the WoL does.

It makes me wonder if part of what she's wishing she had isn't necessarily so much the Echo itself as it is the ability to share her heart openly, to be able to just drop all the carefully constructed walls for a spell and bare her innermost thoughts and feelings without fear of being dismissed or judged for it.

yoshi says they're going to update and rerelease the benchmark with some changes. also says they're contuinuing to change stuff for the release so it's not all set in stone yet, hopefully

one of l'aiha's favorite foods is literally, unironically archon bread! sometime during the ARR patches, yda is showing l'aiha a whole bunch of foods that come from different cultures, trying to see if any of them maybe trigger one of her self-echos (where she gets an echo vision from her own lost memories) and thus give them a hint about where she's from! to their surprise, she responds to archon bread. :) it brings her a sense of familiarity and comfort. it's Not Good, she concedes, but she likes eating it because it makes her feel safe!

she also really loves weaving; it was the first skill she developed purely because she wanted to, not because she was trying to uncover her past. she did it because she thought she'd like doing it as a job, and sure, there was that pressure as a refugee in ul'dah who needed money, but she wasn't doing it because she thought she USED to do it pre-amnesia, like her magic and lancing. to this day, it helps her feel grounded in her identity.

a third thing is the sun! it's warm, it's bright, it's life-giving and it always rises after it falls and it guides the lost. i've talked before about how, when she woke up in gyr abania with no memories, lost in the wilderness, she followed the rising sun east and, ultimately, found people who rescued her. when those people turned out to be bad people, her gratitude gradually shifted from them to the sun. the sun saved her life, the sun gave her her second chance, the sun said 'i'm with you'. most people were happy to see the darkness return to the first, but l'aiha's favorite part was being able to see the sun again.
