Three Stanleys. Three Protagonists attempting to escape the Parable over and over again. Three socially awkward individuals ending up in one Office. Just the three of them, far away from their Narrators' eyes. They are going to be friends, right? They got an impostor among them.

I invoke the ancient power so that I may return!
Human Bill! This is based off of the idea that Axolotl revived him thanks to the incantation Bill said before his death. The only issue was there weren’t a lot of triangle bodies to shove him back into…
So they had to improvise.

Friendly reminder we have a Discord server for any TSP roleplayers or aspiring ones.
You don't need to be actively rping to be in the server but it does focus on roleplay more. It's a very lowkey server, all ages welcome, and you can ask questions, discuss roleplays or get to know each others characters.

I’m thinking of starting an rp blog for the Narrator but am concerned about choosing a pfp. I have found art online that I really want to use, but can’t find the original artist. I am an artist myself, but not confident in being able to draw something that satisfies my vision, should I just suck it up and do it myself or is using art you find online okay for rp acounts here?
Or am I overthinking things and it doesn’t matter to people lol?
Honestly, I have used other art as my profile pic for roleplay accounts a few times without any issue. If you want to play it safe, you can go for screenshots from the game or just do your own art.
It really depends on the artist, some don't mind their art being used as profile pics, so its a case-by-case situation.

I’ve seen your post about good starters, is there anything with good conversations starters that’ll actually get characters somewhere?
So, starters are something that gives other people an idea of how you play your character, what your goals are, and what you're looking for. They also need to be pretty open ended, or happen in a public place unless you want to hook a specific other character. That means a starter is infinitely customizable and super personal to write. Just copy pasting any given starter is not going to do the job you need it for, it'll stymie your growth and leave you scrambling to keep up with whatever someone else chose for you. On top of that, starters are not what keep RP going: The plot and player is.
So, let's jump in and break it down a little more so it's easier to put together your own starter from absolutely nothing, and how you as a player can keep plot going after the initial starter is dead in the dust behind you on your little journey, shall we?
When you write a starter, basically you're writing a hook to get someone involved in a situation. You're putting out into the world a question, or something that looks like it needs to be interrupted or acted on, so that other people will interrupt or act on it. So write it from that perspective: what would make you want to engage with a post?
So, pick apart what's important to you to get from a partner. When you roleplay, you look for specific goals, an A to B, essentially. Are you writing this scene in an attempt to explore the character and maybe find out something about their past or reveal a secret? Do you simply want to see how they respond to others? Or do you have a plot in mind? If there's an arc of a story you wanna get through, you're gonna have to nestle your starter securely in a situation that will allow you to forward that plot. See what I mean about it being deeply personal?
For example: If I were playing Tony Stark, and I wanted him to show off a new invention while handling his PTSD, I might drop a starter invoking curiosity. I'd set it up with a scene, probably near his workshop but public enough someone would have a chance to see me. I'd be carrying something remarkable but, questionable. "Did you just see him with a bomb?" This item would effect another character, so it would be rewarding to double check Tony isn't about to wreck your household by blowing it up. Then I'd have an experiment or invention in mind. He's made a robot that goes and grabs bombs, and folds over them to protect the household ala Steve Rogers jumping on a grenade. Mostly to stop Steve doing that shit. Cool, cool. I'll have that in mind when I describe what they find if they call out to him, and he ignores them and keeps bolting, or they follow him to see what's up. Then I can discuss it, and show emotions in my post that lead the other character to ask questions why I made this. Reveal a personal story or anecdote, and eventually get cornered by their curiosity or my loud mouth into joking and revealing some deeply personal trauma. Tada, a starter!
A starter that only works for my goals of exploring Tony's trauma, that only works for Tony Stark, that only works with characters who would see him when he's vulnerable at home with the other Avengers. So it's absolutely personalized and broken for anyone else.
Except, throughout, you can see how I logically broke it down! Here is the hook, here is my character's interests, here is why another person wants to care, here is my goal for the reveal, here's enough plot to feed into the machine to keep them interested, here's how I expect the scene to get to a certain point. It's very loosely put together, because by the end of it I might be looking at their trauma instead if, for instance, the explosion sets off a panic attack. Keeping flexibility helps keep a conversation going.
It also helps to provoke. Prod, ask questions, be curious, or offer something that makes other people want to know more. When you just roleplay hi, how are you, hello, how's the weather that's not a conversation so much as small talk. Which will die out quickly because there's no bonding or true interaction beyond the surface level. Like a geode, a character must be broken to see what shiny things are inside. So find something to crack them open a little, a chip here or there.
Now, if the other person absolutely fucking sucks at prompting you or offering a chance to open up? You may wanna, as a player, screw with the narrative and make for external pressure. Put your character under a deadline, by making them be waiting for something stressful. It makes them try to get things in fast, and they mess up. Maybe have a phone call or something happen, so they have to talk in front of the other character and divulge more than they meant to. You can force things on your character from outside, and it can help keep things going.
Relying entirely on your characters to keep things going is a fool's errand if the characters are not expressive, extroverted, and mouthy. A quiet stern guy who keeps to himself will want to kill a conversation quickly, and it'll drive other players off because they think that's you doing it, not your character. So make sure your narration explains why they're acting like that, and give tips to approach for the other character. Like I said, external forces may be the only way to force someone out of their shell while making sure your RP partner wants to keep digging!
You may have to fudge your character's personality or characterization slightly to get the ball rolling. Don't be afraid to make them slightly OOC if it means opening a door to tons more IC things. What, you've never blurted out something by mistake, or gotten mad and said something you regret because it's not really you? You never lied? Tch! They can fuck up too! Let them! Explore that!
Starters are never gonna be as easy as reading off cards, or having something set-up for you. You're gonna have to look at the setting for your character and see what's important. Are there places people frequent? Are there hobbies your character does that may be interesting? Can you arrive covered in blood because you're an assassin to prompt other people to fret until they realize it's not your blood and you can brag about the kill? Can you do something that seems out of character, but is perfectly normal? Be interesting! be interested in what your partner has to offer too, maybe it's not what you intended but following THEIR plot concepts can be super rewarding too!
So, good luck, and happy roleplaying!

Dead Fandom - Should You Even Bother?
The TSP RP fandom used to be incredibly active but life and dwindling interest has deactivated a lot of blogs, leaving only few roleplayers remaining, bravely writing through the drought, believing that one day, we might get another influx of new blogs to carry us through the year.
But seriously, if you want to roleplay for TSP, don't let the low activity discourage you. There will always be at least one person (most likely me) who will stubbornly continue on writing.
If you find yourself lacking in TSP partners, you can expand to other fandoms. The Stanley Parable famously gets along with other games, media and meta-narratives, so try your luck!
Some great crossover options are
Portal
Severance
There Is No Game
Superliminal
House of Leaves
Homestuck
The Magnus Archives
Presentable Liberty
Half Life
Analogue Horror and ARGS
Break The Game
Doki Doki Literature Club
Welcome To Night Vale
Loki series
WOE.BEGONE
Doctor Who
Supernatural
Undertale
Yuppie Psycho
Pony Island
Silent Hill
The Backrooms
ESC Game
American Arcadia
Ib
Slay The Princess
Rick and Morty
The Secret Series
...and basically whatever else you can come up with! There are also tons of amazing fandomless blogs to interact with, don't rule anything out!

How to avoid drama
The TSP fandom is not without its drama and cliques, which every fandom eventually crosses into.
You can avoid it and you should avoid it if you're not a part of it. It doesn't need to ruin your roleplaying experience.
You don't have to side with people, whether they're your mutuals or not. A lot of drama posts demand you interact or reblog to "prove" you're on the good side or to "spread the word" against the 'awful person' they're attacking, but more often than not, drama posts are just meant to bully people without actually protecting anyone.
Suddenly your dash is full of two sides arguing and you might even get angry anons in your inbox asking why you're siding with someone or calling you names.
Some tips to help you steer clear of it are
don't believe he said/she said posts (i.e: posts that just have statements like this person is toxic and you shouldn't write with them)
avoid call out posts. 99% you won't get all of the information anyway and if you don't know what's going on, that's all the more reasons to not get involved
block urls and tags that make you upset or uncomfortable (info below)
delete anons that try to get a rise out of you or turn off anons. You can also turn off messages and replies from non-mutuals (tumblr.com/settings/blog/yourblogurl)
don't let mutuals bully you into choosing a side. if someone demands you side with them or they will block/unfollow you, they're probably not worth keeping around
YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BLOCK AND UNFOLLOW FOR ANY REASON. YOU DON'T OWE ANYONE ANY EXPLANATIONS. PERIOD.
NO one, no matter how close they are, are allowed to make you feel uncomfortable, unsafe or insulted. If they disrespect your boundaries, they are not a good friend.
What if this person is said to be a pedophile/groomer?
If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, you can block them! But again, keep in mind that he said/she said posts are not proof. If there's concrete evidence that someone is grooming or preying on minors, that's another story.
Note: I've been roleplaying since 2014 and the only time there was a groomer warning was for a fandomless blog that only briefly interacted with TSP blogs.
How do I blacklist urls/tags?
Go to Settings → Account → Scroll down to Content You See. When you filter a post or an url, Tumblr will block that post with a warning label.
Tumblr media
Official Tumblr Article
What if I don't like that person?
Unfollow, block, soft block, it's your choice. You don't need to help harass anyone.
I'm scared to lose my partners if I don't agree with them / I don't want to lose a friendship / My friend is more important than this stranger they dislike
In the end it's your decision but if your friend is pressuring you to side with them in an argument with the threat of losing their friendship (whether spoken or unspoken), you have to decide for yourself if that's a relationship worth keeping around.
Especially since a) there's no telling if this will be the last time they demand this from you and b) they might turn on you if they decide you did something wrong.
This person writes problematic content / has a rude or hateful OC / tried to kill my character / has fucked up plots / uses a face claim I don't like / writes for a fandom I dont like / writes toxic or abusive ships / etc.
Absolutely none of these give you the greenlight to bully someone or help others bully them. You control your own experience. If you don't like a character, don't interact with them. If you don't like a plot, tell your partner you want to write another one. Something they write triggers you? Blacklist the tag or unfollow.
You are not a knight in shining armor if you get upset at something and decide to try and harass someone off the platform.
Roleplaying is fiction. None of these plots affect any real life people. If it triggers you, you can take the necessary steps to prevent yourself from seeing it.

Roleplaying Etiquette
Don't control other people's characters without permission. If your partner reveals things that only you, as the writer should know, don't make your character magically know them unless your partner said it was alright. .
Your character might have powers that interfere with others directly, or you might interact with characters who are supernatural or powerful. You should discuss things with your partner before you harm, kill or alter their muse - however keep in mind that if you don't want powerful muses to affect yours, then you should reconsider interacting with them. It's also not okay to demand someone else change their muse for your sake if you know beforehand that they're powerful or evil. .
Please read everyone's rules before you interact. Some people don't like roleplaying with non mutuals (terminology below), others are selective, etc. It's common courtesy to check first. .
Tag your triggers or state on your blogs that you don't tag them so others can decide whether or not to follow. However, it's polite to tag flashing images, irl blood/gore, nsfw posts, insects and body horror. . DON'T censor the word! It does not help and only fucks up people's blacklists. Writing tr*gger or tri//gg//er or other variants will show your posts to everyone anyway, so please write the entire word NORMALLY for the blacklist. .
Consider sending an ask before you reblog an ask meme from someone. Some people prefer you reblog memes from the source (the blog who posted it) instead of from them. .
Mun =/= Muse. Don't get angry at people for what their characters write. If you feel uncomfortable with how a character is treating yours, you can change your interaction or bring it up, but don't take it as a sign that your partner secretly hates you and is trying to hurt you through their writing. .
If you can, cut your posts to reduce dashboard spam. This only works on desktop, you can use XKit or XKit Rewritten .
Don't start drama. Don't vague people, send hateful or impolite anons, don't pass around call outs or feel like you have to make a statement or pick sides if you see arguing on your dash. Roleplaying is not activism. If someone is trying to get you to turn on a partner or side with them, it's better to just step away. .
Don't pester people for replies. You can send a follow up message asking if someone's still interested in continuing a reply, but if you harass someone to answer you by repeatedly spamming them with questions or making them feel guilty for not replying immediately, they will likely not want to write with you anymore. RPing is a hobby, not a job, and your partners probably have lives outside of writing.
Terminology:
OOC - out of character
IC - in character
Mun - the writer
Muse - the characters
Starters - a drabble or a sentence that invites interaction
Ask memes / inbox memes - prompts you can send people via asks
Magic Anons (also spelled m!a or magic!anons) - Anonymous asks that put a "curse" on your character (i.e: muse turns into a cat for 3 days) You can ignore it if you don't want to do it
Mutuals - people you follow who follow you back
Selective - Mun will only write with people they select
Semi Selective - same as above but more lax
Private - Mun writes with only very specific people
Reblog karma - you are expected to send an ask if you reblog an ask meme
Passwords - some people ask you to send a specific word or phrase into their inbox to prove you read their rules
OP (ie this muse is too OP) - over powered
Fade to black - suggestive roleplay that doesn't involve any sex scenes and instead skips to the next scene
Exclusive shipping - you only ship this character with another character and don't allow any other ships for that muse
Dropping threads - ending a thread without continuing it
Soft block - when you block someone and then unblock them, which unfollows them from your blog
Mun =/= Muse - The Mun is not their characters and does not advocate for everything their muses do
