Keith dreads telling Allura his shameful secret.

He really is all this but also... He’s so loving. Not in the cheep vocal way, but in the “once I let you in I will sacrifice anything for your happiness” way. Keith loved his “brother” Shiro so much he saved his life time and again and refused to give up on him even in the face of his own death. He made the conscious choice to sacrifice himself to save everyone and everything he loved at Nacxela. He volunteered for a suicide mission just to gain back Allura’s trust. Keith would die to protect what he loves and when he is vocal it’s all the more touching because you know it’s not just noise. He’s shown it time and again.

What makes Keith so lovable?

The first time he appears on screen, what is he doing? He’s saving someone whose arrival was foretold by the ancient writings in the caves he had been investigating for almost a year, even though he had no clue who it was going to be. 

He made an intricate plan to infiltrate the crash site, and when he saw his fellow Garrison cadets he didn’t leave them there (despite how one was being an ass), even though they would’ve gotten away with much lighter punishment compared to him, who no longer had ties with the Garrison. Also, he could’ve escaped much faster, and taking them with him just slowed him down and put him and his father’s hoverbike in so much risk.

He’s kind, he’s selfless, and he doesn’t abandon anyone who needs his help. And I love how this becomes obvious so early on.  

He kept the knife his mother gave him and his father held on to for him. He kept it close to him and close to his heart. He never gave up searching for clues, even asking a random knife seller at the space mall. 

And when he finally gets so close to the answer he had been searching for all his life, what does he do? He gives it up, because he knows his duty as a paladin comes first. He learned from his fireman father very early on that protecting others came first. He has such a big heart and it hurts me seeing how much he just gives and gives and gives.

He has a dorky side. This is what I love about him the most and what I wish the show explored so much more of. He cannot lie to save his life. He makes the dorkiest faces and does the dorkiest things, has the most adorable pout and droopy-eyed look, looks adorable when he crosses arms, makes the most innocent and pure doodles, makes his doggo play fetch and fails every time but never learns, sings in the Red Lion (and possibly also in the shower, in the kitchen, on the Hoverbike, and probably also did in the simulator).

His gentle, quiet, soothing presence. In their quiet moments in the Castleship, he’s mostly just sitting and listening to the conversation, arms crossed, unless asked questions or has something to suggest. However, the scenes he’s shown taking care of his cosmic wolf is when this shines brightest. The way he talks to him, caresses him, cared for him since he was a little pup along with Krolia. I think that more than the flashes of light that brought them back to each other’s past, it was taking care of the cosmic wolf together that truly bonded Keith with his mom. 

Contrary to his Hot Head stigma, I also love his obvious patience. This is best shown with how he deals with Lance. When was the only time he ever lost his temper in the entire show? When he punched James. And we all agree it was for very good reason. 

When he found out Krolia was his mother, and she told him to wait for the explanation until after they were done with the mission, he treated her with so much respect. He didn’t demand. He didn’t lash out. He didn’t throw accusations. He just waited, and followed her instructions and trusted her with his life through the quantum abyss.

I’m sure he got that from his mother. She was also never forceful with her affection, and gently waited for Keith to open up to her. In battle, they’re both fierce, aggressive, fearless warriors. But in the quantum abyss, it was clear that, while they were far from being distant or cold to one another, they were also carefully treading and cautiously opening up to each other.

And last, but certainly not the least, is how far he had gone and how much he had grown.  

From the quiet, cranky lil kid who was shoved into a leadership position, lost everything, and finally found his place in the universe, he had grown to become a true warrior of the Blade of Marmora and a true leader of the Paladins of Voltron.

I’m sure I have so much more I can list down, but I want to post this before the 23rd ends. These are why I love Yorak so much. Feel free to add :D

As the newly arrived Paladins seek the Yellow and Green Lions, Allura learns a bit about Earth from a quiet, watchful, and very observant Keith. We all now know that the leadership for Voltron team was severely lacking and the multiple writers with little direction killed so much for the show. There were dropped plot lines and character arcs that should have been. There were missing conversations that would have made the series so much better and more cohesive. This series is to voice my vision for those missing conversations one at a time.

Allurance is pure shit. Unfair to Allura because Lance never saw her as a person with flaws and not an object to be admired and Lance’s character development was stagnated by a lazy, cringe worthy romance. A massive ‘fuck you’ to the fans.

An open letter to @voltron staff and showrunners @2-cents and @thebestlaurenmontgomery from Keith fans.

First of all, thank you so much for bringing back a much loved series. After the end of season 8, members of a Keith Discord server put our thoughts together to write a letter to express how we felt about the series.

Thank you for making Keith such an amazing character, and for having such a talented actor as Steven Yeun to voice him. His passion for his craft is very inspiring, and his love for and deep understanding of Keith- someone he perfectly describes as a “complex and fun” character- has given a lot of his fans so much joy and fond memories to look back on in many years to come.

However, there were also many things that we were disappointed with, and we wanted to express them in this letter. It is not our intention to offend anyone, we simply wish to give our honest opinion, especially regarding Keith- one of the most unforgettable characters in your show. He is beautiful inside and out. He is gorgeous, arguably has the best character design, as well as one whose moral compass has been tested time and again in the course of his journey but never wavered.

I guess it’s no secret that many were disappointed by how Keith was taken out of three seasons. He is a main character, so why was this necessary? Why was there no effort to work around it, instead of taking him out completely? A couple of episodes throughout the entire series would have been fine. But why for entire seasons?

This has also caused some fans to speculate, unfairly so, that this was Steven Yeun’s fault for being busy. When really, anyone who knows how the animation industry works would never think this way. Fans have of course spoken up for him and defended him many times, but as fans we can only do so much.

There were also so many things about Keith’s arc that were brought up, only to be never addressed again. His sacrifice in Naxzela was no different from what Allura did in the finale, and yet why was it never acknowledged, let alone talked about. Why was his father never given a name, when characters who appeared for mere seconds and were inconsequential to the story given one? Why was the cosmic wolf never given the chance to tell Keith his name? Why did he never get to have any interaction with Krolia ever again in season 8, when in the previous season she almost lost her son? Why were the fallen Blades never mourned for nor properly honored when most of Voltron’s biggest victories were thanks to them spilling their blood? Why was it heavily implied that Keith had a strong connection to quintessence, which became even stronger after he came back from the quantum abyss with Krolia, only for this to be never expanded on? And why couldn’t the quantum abyss episode not have been given to just Keith and his family, considering he was already taken out of three seasons? There were so many things we still wanted to know about Keith’s family, especially his life with his father after Krolia left. He is, after all, the man who singlehandedly raised Keith to become the Leader of the Paladins and a hero- just as much as his mother and the Blades honed him to become a fierce and noble warrior.

There was also the noticeable absence of scenes where Keith is told why he is important to the team, nor cared for when he needed it most. There were characters who were looked after many times, also acknowledged why the others could never lose them- many times- and yet Keith. Not once. There was never a single scene where the team has told him they couldn’t lose him, why he was important, and be there for him when he was injured in battle. Other characters had full scenes, some even episodes, dedicated to their recovery. And yet with Keith, it seemed like his injuries just vanished and his efforts never acknowledged. Where was the part where the Blades acknowledged it was Keith’s actions that earned their trust and made them a part of the alliance- whose help and repeated sacrifices were vital in forming the Voltron Coalition? Where was the recovery scene Keith should have gotten after he almost died at the end of season 7?

There were also things that came out in interviews, like Keith singing in his lion that somehow never made it to the show, which as insignificant as it seems would’ve added another dimension and depth to his character. As well as Lotor and Keith having a deeper connection. Given both of them were very interesting characters, why was this scrapped? It would’ve made the story far more interesting had their arcs been given the chance to intersect at one point.

There were so many great things about the show. Sadly, it feels like all of those came at the cost of Keith’s writing. But despite all this, we will be willing to support any and every Keith content you plan to release moving forward. Because despite everything, you have given us a wonderful character in Keith… sorry, we don’t know his last name.

Sometimes the greatest gift you can give is just being there.

Pidge found Hunk in the commissary with a large glass storage bowl. The lid of the bowl had a bow on top. He was eating what looked like chili from a smaller bowl. “Oh hey Pidge, what’s going on?”

”Oh, I wanted to ask you about something… Is that chili?” She asked distracted.

“Yeah, you want some?” Hunk offered.

Pidge found a spoon and sampled a bite from the larger bowl. It was tasty, if a bit too spicy for her. “It’s not bad, but a bit too hot for me. Did you make this?” She asked, already knowing the answer.

”No actually. It was left a my doorstep with my name on it. It’s pretty good. You should have a bowl with some sour cream.” Hunk offered.

Pidge shook her head. “Can I see the note?” Hunk handed it over and Pidge studied the note. It was written in the same handwriting as the card on her gift. “Well that answers that question.”

”What question?” Hunk said after another bite.

“Someone left a gift at my door this morning and I thought it might have been you. They left a gift for Shiro too.”

”Do you think Keith and Lance got something?”

Pidge pushed up her glasses, “I don’t know. But I know one thing… Whoever doesn’t have a gift is our giftor.” She smiled. The games were thoughtful, but a puzzle to solve was even better.

Seriously, WTF?

Kallura is still canon through season 8.

Keith is the type of person to put other people, other people's feelings before himself. ALWAYS. He is self-sacrificing to a fault. He is not a man of words however, he is a man of action. He's the guy to go to the end of the universe for the one he loves, and he does. For Shiro, for her.

But as soon as Allura rejected his sacrifice and Lance expressed his interest Keith backed off. Keith puts the team and the mission first as a service to her. After all, until Keith met Allura his life was full of pain. It wasn't until he found her that he found his purpose and eventually his joy.

Lance and Allura were momentary. She needed the support during a difficult time, but, had she lived she would have grown beyond it. Keith left, she was tired of loosing, so she went with the one not strong enough of a person to leave her. It was healthy for her in the moment but had she lived, wouldn't have lasted. Lance couldn't understand her and in the light of a bright future they both would have moved on.

So yes, even through the last moments of his life Keith stood back and put HER first. Even as he watch her in the arms of another man.

Top 5 Ships in Voltron

Aka, the Top 5 Ships I wished were explicitly shown as endgame. So…I’m pretty upset with the ultimate endgame of Voltron, though I can see where the writers were coming from. I just don’t agree. However, I’m not going to be salty. Instead, I just want to talk about my Top 5 Ships in Voltron and why I ship it.

5. Hunay (Hunk x Shay)

I’m pretty sure I speak on behalf of the entire Voltron fandom when I say that this ship is the purest in the whole show. These two have basically been canon since Season 1 but it was never really explicitly shown. But THESE TWO oof, I loved them so much. Every interaction they had was wholesome. Both would be so excited to see the other and were always there for each other. And when Shay called for all the Balmeras to converge? That was amazing and I got chills. I really hoped to see them get together, but what we got was just fine. Plus, the whole team teasing him for his crush? Precious.

4. Nymatt (Nyma x Matt)

I know that N-7 is Matt’s canon girlfriend, but I was really hoping he would have gone with Nyma. I genuinely thought that he was going to end up with Nyma after that episode where they searched for his dad. Her concern for him seemed so genuine and I hoped to see them explore that dynamic more. Also, her interaction with Matt was basically the first time we saw her in action again. The fact that she was on a mission to save his father rather than someone else he has been fighting with before, I really liked their interaction and thought it was perfect for a background ship. I am sure N-7 is a decent person (robot?) So I’m fine with it, just hoped to at least see some interaction between her and Matt.

3. Kacxa (Keith x Acxa)

So…I know most of the fandom absolutely hated this ship after Season 7 because it got in the way of their ships because of how sudden it was introduced but I genuinely like their interactions and I can see them having a stable relationship, whether it’s romantic or platonic. I really love that it was thanks to Keith that Acxa was able to step away from Lotor. His half-galra lineage and his mercy on Acxa was thebseed of the relationship. All the times Acxa saved him made me speculate why (heck the whole fandom thought it was because they were related) and in season 7, when she saved them and decided to be an ally, it all tied in together. Really, this can all be interpreted platonically. However, I really think Zethrid and Ezor’s teasing all rings some truth in it. In season 8, we see this when she goes down to save Keith. She went down with Shiro, who we all know is Keith’s brother figure, to save Keith from Zethrid’s wrath. It could be that Acxa already knew that it was Zethrid who was attacking Keith, but we know for a fact that Acxa has a long history of saving Keith throughout the show. Also, the fact that Zethrid only went after Keith because she knew Acxa would show up spoke volumes. Zethrid trying to kill Keith to exact revenge on Acxa for “taking” away Ezor, who she loves, tells the audience just what Acxa feels for the guy who showed her a way out. I just…they have history and the little hints are so cute. If the writers took away Allura, the least they could have done was give Keith love in someone else, I feel Acxa would have been the best girl for him. This is my ideal pair for Keith post-canon.

2. Plance (Pidge x Lance)

THESE TWO! Oof, these were teased so much I sincerely thought they were going to be VLD’s beta ship. The relationship these two would have had would have been such a beautiful one. It’s the best friends to lovers trope. It’s the nerdy girl and hot guy trope. It’s the power couple trope. These two had such a healthy dynamic since day one. Lance was constantly trying to help Pidge open up and talked to her like a best friend. Pidge loved to tease Lance and she grew more comfortable with the people around her thanks to fooling around with him. Those two are equally as goofy and they’re so comfortable around each other. These two still have a chance since Lance still deserves love and I still highkey believe Pidge had a crush om him this entire time. Hopefully, if we do get a spin-off and we get to see our babes back to train the new Paladins, or something, I hope we get a few more moments of these two again. They deserve this.

1. Kallura (Keith x Allura)

Holy fnck these two were perfect for each other. I don’t care if Allura/nce was canon in S8, this relationship was much deeper than just attraction. They are the only ones who are able to understand what the other feels. They can understand the other’s pain. They both care for each other so deeply from Season 1 all the way to Season 8. No matter what canon said, I sincerely believe those two would have had a better relationship. Even though Lance’s feelings were true, heck it was his feelings for Allura that made him mature, I feel like the perfect man for Allura would have been Keith. Not someone who treated her as a goddess, but someone who would let her make her own decisions and someone who would see her faults. I also believe that Allura was the perfect woman for Keith. She was always sure to support him and to be there for him in his tough moments. She was sure to burn down his insecurities and remind him that he is needed when he doubted his self-worth. These two were absolutely perfect for each other, I’m still disappointed that the VLD writiers decided against pairing the two characters with the most parallels for the two characters who were mildly hinted at here and there. However, I’m still grateful to them to have given me such an amazing ship and those amazing characters.
