An Empty Chair at a Lonely Table

It was beyond instinct now.

It was just something that she would do without thought.

After all, for so many years, there were two plates set upon the table. Each plate filled with spaghetti and each plate would be emptied. But now, as the second plate had been set a pause was found.

That plate, was no longer needed. She knew this. The owner of that plate, wasn’t home. They would never come home. She knew this. And yet, she still found herself placing out the silverware as well as a bottle filled with red right beside it.

With the table set, she piled her plate high with her favorite dish. Near overflowing the plate onto the table itself in her eagerness to enjoy her meal. However, once her food had been served she returned her gaze to the plate opposite her and the empty chair behind it. It would be so easy, to fill the plate and simply pretend.

But….

After placing the bowl back upon the counter she seated herself across from that empty plate, watching it for a time. As if waiting for it to suddenly be pushed towards her as if to be asked to be filled. Her gaze drifted from the plate to the empty chair.

It would never be filled again, she knew that.

But…

She just couldn’t bring herself to put it away.

After all, what sort of sister would she be if she didn’t set a place for them?

A very….uncool sister. A very uncool sister indeed.

Word from LovelyMun

Hello all.

LovelyMun here, just checking in.

It’s, been awhile I’m afraid.

I had a lot of plans on bringing this blog back last month, lots of VA’ing and silly things. But life sorta hit kind of hard recently.

Just under a month ago, my grandmother suffered a stroke and had to be sent to the hospital. She was getting better, and even was sent to rehab as it was only a level 2-3 stroke because they were able to get her help fast. She was doing well and going through her therapy to learn to speak again. However, she had to be sent back to the intensive care after it was discovered she had pneumonia and bleeding in her stomach. They found the source, and were treating it. Things were looking up again.

However, a few days ago she suffered another stroke. They gave her something to help her relax, but there was nothing they could do. She passed away on the 14th and yesterday I said my final goodbyes. I wish I hadn’t had to, but I know she’s not in pain anymore and I’m thankful at least for that.

I still have plans to bring Lovely back, but she’s sort of been chilling elsewhere while I’ve been going through this. I’m hoping that, things will pick up again soon.

I hope all of you out there are doing well and you have my wishes for goodnights and awesome days.

Drawing herself back up from her bow and resting on gloved hand upon her hip as the other relaxed, the femme grinned brightly at her new friend. She had to admit to herself, she didn’t often see other skeletons like herself aside from her sibling. And, it had been quite some time since that had occurred.

“Please tell me, would you like to be friends?”

Briefly, her skull ducked and her free hand raised to fiddle with her scarf. “I apologize if my Friendship Skills are not as lovely as they should be, I have not made a new friend in some time!”
