THE FAMILY YOU CHOOSE – S.H. x FEM!READER

"Stevie?"

Today was one of the few days of the year his parents were home. His mom was in the living room, lying on the couch and watching a movie. A cup of wine on her hand when her son surprised her. "Hey, mom." Steve closed the door behind him, she stopped the movie. "How was your day, sweetie?"

"It was— It was fine." Steve nodded. "And how was work?"

"Great." Mrs. Harrington never really cared about Steve not going to college. Mr. Harrington knew Steve was working, but he never asked about it. He was more than disappointed that his son was spending his days in a mediocre video store when he could be building a solid future. Steve was disappointed with himself too. Mrs. Harrington looked at the time on the watch on her wrist. "Why are you so late?"

"I drove Dustin and his friends to the Arcade, and they wanted to eat something before going home." Mrs. Harrington nodded and took a sip from her glass. After three years of friendship with him, Mrs. Harrington and Dustin never met. Not only once. They only knew each other thanks to what Steve told them. His mom was too busy to get to know the boy and him and Steve were most of the time at Dustin's. Steve preferred to be at his friend's house because his house was smaller and warmer. Oh, and Mrs. Henderson adored Steve. She was always telling him how handsome he was and how he was like a brother to Dustin. Steve was the happiest version of himself around Dustin. "That's really nice of you. Did you have fun with them?"

"Yeah, they're— they're good kids." He loved them. Steve sometimes felt ridiculous thinking of them as his safe place but they were Steve's safe place. Max was like his little sister, she was the only one with whom he could have a proper conversation about music and movies, and Steve helped her so much after Billy's death. Him being her personal driver and taking her everywhere, making sure she was eating and sleeping enough, and acting like the brother she wished Billy had been. With Lucas he had a completely different friendship. He loved going to his basketball games, cheering for him, and giving him good advice since Steve noticed that Lucas was hanging out pretty often with the jocks. Mike was the toughest of them all. His relationship with him when he dated Nancy wasn't the best but it grow better with time.

"Did that girl go with you guys too?"

"Oh, yeah, Robin was there too—" His soulmate. Steve knew that no one would ever compare to Robin.

"No, not that girl."

Mrs. Harrington was asking about you. About the girl that kept the line of the house busy because she and Steve talked on the phone every time they were not together. About the girl that drove every day after high school to Family Video to have lunch with Steve during his work break. About the girl Steve's legs went weak for. About the girl that always fixed his hair and loved to walk arm-in-arm with him. About the girl that looked after him while he looked after the kids.

"Y/n?"

"Y/n." She repeated your name. "Is she your girlfriend?"

Steve hummed. "Something like that."

"Something like that?"

Steve looked down and played with his keys. His cheeks heating up. "I haven't asked her yet."

There was a long pause. Mrs. Harrington did it on purpose so her son could think about why he hadn't asked you out yet. The woman took one last sip. "Bring her home when you do it, we would love to meet her. Bring your other friends too. We can have a barbecue, I'll tell your dad to fix the pool."

His friends. The family he chose. If three years ago someone would have told him that he would have people around to call friends. True friends. Steve wouldn't have believed it. "That sounds great." He was holding back his tears. His mom kissed his son's cheek before leaving to the bedroom where Mr. Harrington was already sleeping. In that moment the phone rang, Steve smiled to himself, not even needing to pick it up to know who it was.

"Did you miss me that much already?"

"And what if I did, huh?"

He laughed. "Do you have any plans for tomorrow?" Steve bit the inside of his cheeks, nervously. Maybe it was too soon to ask. "Mmm, I don't, why?"

"Maybe we could go out."

"Sure! I'll call the kids tomorrow and–"

"No. I mean, us. Like, you and me. Alone."

"Like on a date?"

Silence.

"Like on a date, yeah."

How You Met/Started Dating JJK Characters

Pairings: Itadori Yuji, Fushiguro Megumi, Kugisaki Nobara, Inumaki Toge, Zenin Maki x Reader

Genre: Fluff

Warnings: None really, very light swearing, gn! reader (mentions of reader being able to get pregnant in Inumaki’s)

Notes: Part one of ? I’ll make another if people like it

This is my first headcanon, please be gentle

Itadori Yuji:

You came with Megumi to look for Sukuna’s finger

You saw him when he stood up for his friends (despite that being a really dumb thing for just a normal kid to do) and immediately knew he was something else

He thinks your hot from the first time he saw you

Definitely thought you and Megumi were a thing though

When he found out you weren’t: instant simp

Either you both started obviously crushing right away;

Or you both danced around each other for so long someone else had to push you too together

If it’s the first one, he asks you out very eagerly within the first few weeks, and it’s smooth sailing from there (well, as smooth as a first relationship can be)

If it’s the latter, after one and a half painful months of watching you two fumble around asking each other out, Nobara convinced Megumi to help get you too together

There was definitely some white lies and and a closet involved, but after a mutual confession and maybe a kiss, you two had no trouble forgiving them

Fushiguro Megumi:

You are a first year he picked up after Nobara

You were VERY excited to start your time at Jujutsu Tech, so you didn’t really try hard to make a good first impression

He was aloof right from the beginning, but you couldn't help but find him endearing

After a little while, he would let you play with his demon dogs, and if he thought you were strong enough, let you take the lead on fighting curses (now that’s real love)

I feel like he is demisexual, so he wouldn't fall in love immediately, it is more of a gradual thing, the longer you two are friends, the more attracted to you he becomes

Super nervous to ask you out

Has no idea how to go about it

But, the only person who he thinks would know what to do, is Gojo

Instead, he watches romantic movies and YouTube videos to “research” (definitely not because he’s a sucker for a good rom-com)

Everything he says and does is super cheesy and awkward, but it doesn't matter, of course you’re going to say yes

Kugisaki Nobara:

You met on your first day of class

Complications with your application caused you too be later to arrive than the other first years, so you made the night before and past out

So, when you walk into the classroom in the morning, the other three are shocked to see you

At first you felt left out, even though it was only a few days more they had known each other, they had already gone on adventures

That doesn't last long though, since everyone takes various degrees of liking to you pretty soon

Yuji is a bit of a himbo (but is good at making you laugh), Megumi kis quiet and serious (but is good to have deep conversations with), and Nobara is super attractive

She’s pretty, and honest, and has a great personality, you can’t stop thinking about her

Turns out you and her are dorm neighbours, which you both think is nice because you can have sleepovers (she definitely does you makeup and makes you try on cute clothes)

It doesn't take long before you gather the courage to ask her on a date, you want to go shopping with her

You end up going to a trendy café and picking out complimentary outfits to wear on your next date

Inumaki Toge:

You’re both members of well-respected Sorcerer Families, so you met when you were young at some kind of meeting

He was really shy when you met, and it made you think he didn’t like you

In reality, he was just really afraid of hurting you with his power, at the time he still didn't have perfect control of it

It took years before you even saw the bottom half of his face (which you thought was adorable and badass)

Both families were worried when one or both of you started showing interest in the other

The Inumaki bloodline carried with it a cursed technique much more curse like than others, therefore the family had been trying to end it

Your family had similar concerns, not wanting you to potentially bare a child with the “Eyes and Fangs” symbol, and the ability to harm others with words alone

Did that stop either of you though? Of course not, you are in love with each other

A classic childhood-friends to lovers stories, with a bit of forbidden love thrown in for flavour

He wrote you out a several-page love letter when he finally confessed, detailing all of the things he had waited to say to you since you met

Zenin Maki:

Like Toge, you met when you were both children

Your family was looking for a way into the Zenin clan, so they brought you in as either a future partner or a friend for one or both of the twins (most likely a partner if you are male, the Zenin’s don't seem all that progressive)

So you spent a good portion of your childhood together, and when Maki decided to leave, you went with her

She told you it wasn't necessary, that you didn't have to sacrifice your relationships to both families because of her, but let’s be honest, you were smitten (besides, you liked her much better than the rest of her family anyway)

Both of you enrolled at Jujutsu Tech, and even though you were lovesick, you didn't say anything

The reason being, you had no idea how she felt about you

Of course you were friends, she had a good amount of respect for you, but love? You weren't sure the word love was in her vocabulary

But she did, obviously, even if it took her a while to figure out what she felt was love

She was super blunt asking you out, but sincere and you could tell this was the most vulnerable she had felt in a long time, you end up sparing as a date

It wasn't the most romantic, however it did end with you two cooking together and a very short, very sweet kiss
