Yeah, I did for a long time. Like there was some putrid, fetid, thing that was to be reviled growing in me. It hurt. I thought I should be ashamed of it. I realize now that the thing I was taught I should hate was just me and that my parents did everything it could to make sure it would be stifled and wither. It’s not, to their dismay. I’m still here, and now I have to learn that the ugly, pale, and scrawny plant I have in me isn’t and wasn’t bad. I now have to learn to give it what it needs to that one day it will be happy and flower. Maybe one day I will learn to appreciate it for what it is, but for right now, all I can do is let it do its thing.
