A beautiful autumn day in Parkhurst Forest, Isle of Wight Next to all the lovely beaches on our beautiful island, I think Parkhurst forest is my favourite place to take a stroll. This morning was a treat; peaceful, dappled sunlight, Charlie dog squirrelling around and not another soul in sight...my kind of heaven :) The Caledon Guest House www.the-caledon.co.uk

Round The Island Race 2015. Sails on the horizon on Brook Beach
What a beautiful day for it! Over 1500 yachts made their way round the Island on Saturday in glorious sunshine and good winds. Really great views, but not really captured on my iPhone! Lots of fab photos to be found on www.roundtheisland.org.uk and of course news and results!
Congratulations to the crew of Whooper, the overall race winners who we bumped into in The Pier View on Saturday evening, well done guys, whoop!
Fabulous photos of the event on www.roundtheisland.org.uk.
Big thanks to JP Morgan for looking after our house so splendidly :-) see you again next year!

Isle of Wight Festival 2015!
A fantastic weekend had by all, so much fun! Highlights for me were seeing The Struts again this year up close and personal, James Bay, just love his voice, The View and Groove Armada. Mark thought Paulo Nutini was awesome, loved Foxes and Coasts, and my mum loved Imelda May, the girl rocks!
So much to see and that's without mentioning Prodigy, Blur, James, Pharrell and of course Fleetwood Mac! One seriously good festival and right on our doorstep, how lucky are we?!
Thank you to all our lovely guests, old and new who absolutely made the weekend all the more fun! Hope to see you all again same time next year :) Much love xxx

Pro Cycling comes to Ryde, Isle of Wight!
Last night the opening round of The 2015 Pearl Izumi Tour Series cycling took place in Ryde on our very own little island! A very excited Mark went to go and see how ridiculously fast they could all cycle up Union Street.
Olympic, World and Commonwealth Champions were among the line-up, and Team Wiggins made their debut.
Included in the 10-rider men's squads for the Pearl Izumi Tour Series are Olympic Champions Ed Clancy, Sir Bradley Wiggins and Steven Burke, 2014 Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Tom Scully and current Australian Criterium Champion Steele Von Hoff.
Catch the highlights from last night on ITV4 tonight at 8pm.

Walk the Wight 2015
Why not come and take part in Walk the Wight this weekend in aid of The Earl Mountbatten Hospice and take in some of the amazing views the Isle of Wight has to offer. To register go to their website www.walkthewight.com. Walk the Wight are celebrating the walk's 25th anniversary and it's the largest European charity walk of its kind! Every year thousands of people walk to raise money for the Island's only Hospice. The event has raised over £3 million pounds. It is also the Hospice’s biggest annual fundraising event. This lovely view, courtesy of my mum, looks towards Sandown from near Wroxall. The Caledon Guest House www.the-caledon.co.uk

Huuuuuuge congratulations to Mark for running The London Marathon in 3hr 21mins!
We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone, including many of our lovely guests, who sponsored Mark. He raised over £1000 for Diabetes UK, a cause close to our hearts as Type 1 runs in our family.
What a fantastic day, we couldn't be more proud, all that training around our hilly island paid off, well done! :-)

Our brand new Cycle Store is now ready for action!
We are very pleased to now be able to offer free, secure and I might add, very stylish bike storage for our lovely guests and their bikes.
Whether you decide to bring your own bike, or hire one locally, The Caledon Guest House is perfectly suited to look after you. The store holds up to 12 bikes, each in individual lockable racks, so groups and individuals are easily catered for. Take a look at our fab new ensuite rooms and our famous local breakfasts at www.the-caledon.co.uk
In case you didn't already know, The Isle of Wight is a truly fabulous place to cycle; beautiful winding country roads, stunning coastal and cliff top views, some great challenging hills for the more athletic among you and of course plenty of quality pubs dotted along the way.
Big thanks to the Isle of Wight’s Bicycle Island initiative for awarding us the grant to build this fabulous store, and of course to Darren Griffith Landscaping, Lushington Garden Buildings and SJS Fabrications for all their hard work and to Phillipa Daley at Community Action Isle of Wight for being so patient with us, we got there in the end  :-)
Now it is finally complete we are itching to see it in action so why not come and stay with us this summer.
