Francois turned away from him but proceeded to side-eye him suspiciously. "I guess so..."

They had arrived at the cemetery gates by now, but Francois was not going to let the scotsman go in just yet. He leaned against the gate with his arms crossed and looked the other man square in the eye.

"Look, I do not want to distrust you, but as a man of my station I cannot just turn a blind eye when something strikes me as odd. You say you visit cemeteries often and you are also not from here, so I assume that you did not come all this way just to sit among the graves for some peace and quiet. So, tell me what your business is here."

Francois turned to face Charles and raised a brow.

“You go to cemeteries often?” Alright. Something’s up.

Charles smiled. “I do,” he answered, the words rolling off his tongue with a slight teasing lilt. “Something wrong with that? The cemetery is a good place, quiet, solitary. I think people would be less scared of death if they spent a little more time around the deceased.”

Yet someone did manage to catch her in the act. Kalika wasn’t watching or anything, but had heard the complaint by the customer over the crowd followed by the quick opening and closing of the door. It didn’t take a genius to figure it out, especially when you have a experience in undercover work and getting away with things you know you will get in trouble with. Kalika quickly threw away what was left of their food and followed after Xanthe. They weren't hoping to bring down any justice while out on the town, but it might be quick if it's just some asshole who doesn't want to pay for a meal. "Hey, you!"

Xanthe kicked back as she sipped from the big gulp that she had stolen from the local convenience store. She had stolen from the place several times and she was fairly certain the owner was starting to get suspicious. She had to skip out on getting food because of it. Her stomach grumbled in protest. She frowned as she patted it and took a couple more sips of her drink before realizing it was nearly empty. She frowned as her eyes once again focused on the building in front of her. She was going to get a burger, the question was how. She continued to peer at the building with determination. Though it probably looking like she was glaring daggers at the place or casing the joint.

“Ah, well, I-” he gave a nervous laugh, “it’s a rather private occupation but I can tell you it has to do with protecting the peace… I brought it with me because my friend is also my boss.” He ran head on his hair and beamed at the other. “And no problem!” He turned back to the pathway. “It is pretty close. You will know it when you see it, they do not do much to hide it.”

Charles nodded. He could all too well understand wanting to keep one’s occupation a secret. His wasn’t something he tended to shout from rooftops. “Well, at least you’re doing something productive,” he laughed, turning to look down the road. The top of a mausoleum came into view and he nodding toward it. “Seems like we’re getting close. You know, cemeteries are very good places to just sit and think.”

"Jake, I get your point, but you can’t do much after you let yourself get hurt like this! Think about it: You can't help people if you're stuck in a hospital! You must have incredible luck if this is the first time you ended up here!"

            out of pure spite ( something that jake usually does thing out of ), he leans forward and is fixing to stand up which he feels a sharp pain that makes him wince loudly, forcing him to lay back down. 

                        “ shit.. okay, that wasn’t because i’m fine ! it’s because.. i’m out of shape. not at all injury related, i swear ! god, i hate lessons. this is like school all over again, it sucks ! i watched out for my partner.. i don’t regret that. i’m glad that i got hurt so that no one else did ! .. anyways. “

writing an autistic character when you are not autistic - a masterpost

things to look for and avoid in an autistic character

• symptoms only manifesting as “nonverbal and rocking” • super smart / living calculator • super dumb / doesn’t understand anything • all the symptoms you can come up with for them are “awkward” and “has special interest(s)” (please do more research) • trains, technology, and/or math as special interests • acting like a child • getting treated like a baby • unreasonably cruel and uncaring about others’ reactions to them being cruel • if they’re comparable to sheldon from the big bang theory, start over • animal comparisons • a lack of feelings • please no stories about what it’s like to be autistic told by allistics

the right way to write an autistic person

• lots of symptoms, including secondary ones not included on a general diagnosis requirement list (here’s a list i rather like that was made by an autistic person – their blog is also a good resource) • having a good amount of general knowledge and actually talking about it (i cannot believe that i have to say this) • talking about things outside of special interests (again…. come on……….) (special interests are usually the default things our brains go to when theres no stimulation or we want to entertain ourselves – it isn’t literally all we think or talk about ever. if a conversation has no connections to a special interest, reconsider having your autistic character bring it up in a context that is not an introduction.) • explicitly expressed to be capable of attraction and romantic feelings – if your character is an adult, add sexual feelings to this point • capable of general functioning, just with a disability that makes it more difficult – not a walking disability (….sigh) • a wide amount of feelings and emotional turmoil (but perhaps only being able to express it in limited ways) • we’re people • just people whose brains are wired differently

things to avoid in research for an autistic character

• autism moms / autism blogs and websites not run by autistic people • any affiliation with autism $peaks means you should walk away and never look back • a scientist trying to create explanations for what autistic people do without actually asking / not mentioning asking autistic people • anything about a cure for autism • a person that “worked with autistic kids” phrased in the same way as “worked with animals” • talking about autistic people as if they are mysteries, are like animals, or are otherwise othered weirdos instead of people

things to look for in research for an autistic character

• actual autistic people talking about their experiences and symptoms • just stick to that and you’re good but it’s hard to find sometimes ngl. just look for the above red flags

things i would personally like to see in an autistic character

• less easy to swallow sadness and more destructive anger. i would love to see a canonically autistic character who was frustrated easily by small things and had trouble communicating why • not a story about being autistic, a story that happens to have a character or characters who are autistic – it isn’t pointed out or questioned, they’re right at home with the rest of the cast and not othered (a la symmetra from overwatch) • intensive sensory issues / small sounds making large reactions • clear communications about not liking x sensory thing (for example being touched) • poor motor skills / clumsiness and not being laughed at for it • walking funny (body bent downwards, walking very fast, walking slowly, big strides, shuffling, stiffness, etc)  – no one treats it as if it’s funny or something totally strange • a big personality that has a presence so they can’t be cast aside (but feel free to have quiet characters too) – if this was along with being nonverbal they would probably leap to being one of my favorite characters ever • a fear of asking for clarification on sarcasm or jokes because of past experiences and an arc about the character becoming more comfortable asking questions

My (Late) List of Muses!

Annabel Lee(Poe Party)

-Innocent, beautiful, and the kindest person you will ever meet! She is very sweet and cares very much for the people around her, even if they are a complete stranger, but admittedly too nice for her own good. However, she is totally capable of raising her voice and standing up for herself and others but is usually rather soft-spoken. Loves baking and Edgar Allan Poe, but I headcanon her as being very interested in science and the ocean. In the canon of the show she is a ghost who was murdered by a man who was courting her and it all takes place in the Victorian era.

Krishanti(Poe Party)

-A mysterious psychic who has the ability to summon and talk to ghost. Serious about her job and serious in general, but despite her rather cold nature, she can be very kind and warm. In the show she only lasted an episode so there is not much on her, so this is just kinda my interpretation of her. I aim at depicting her as a ghost or alive whenever it seems right.

Kalika(OC/White Faction)

-A nonbinary international superstar/rockstar from Jaintia Hills, India. They are loud, can be annoying, and loves messing with people. They like to party and is always looking for action and a good time. Despite being seen as kinda mean, they are a Jerkass With A Heart Of Gold(TM) who understands their limits and will stop doing something if it truly bothers or offends someone. They are completely capable of being supportive, protective, and in general a good friend. They work for the super hero organization White Faction, a group dedicated to defeating any terror that threatens the people. They use fire magic and their guitar that is also an axe. They may have some music based powers as well.

Francois(OC/White Faction)

-A fashion designer and sharp shooter from Paris, France. He too works for White Faction as a sniper and has specially designed leg prosthetics that allow him to run really fast. He is soft-spoken, kind, and maternal in nature, with people always seeking him out for support and him always willing to help. Despite his occupation, he is pacifistic and diplomatic. He is much older than my other muses, them being in their 20s(Well, I see Krishanti in her 30s) while he is in his mid-40s but he looks good for his age.
