Bad commercial, it is hard to understand what they are talking about and the jokes aren’t funny. I also find it hard to get what the commercial is about untill the final voice tells you it’s about a provider.

S: I think it was rather accurate
F: I think it’s ok.
- What has been your biggest contribution to this
project?
S: I’ve been the main actor in the commercial and I helped Ferdi with making up the final logo for our product.

- Choose one other group member and describe his/her
functioning during the project.
S: Ferdi helped me with keeping my concentration on the project when I needed it and we worked as a super team.
F: I worked alot with Stijn. We made decisions together and helped eachother if needed.

Review Ellen & Debby
- What did you learn from this course? Do you have any
tips for improvement?
E: The first lessons were very informative and I learned a lot about plagiarism thanks to that. The recorded video was a great idea to make us review the subject. Any tips for improvement is maybe handing out a checklist.
D: I have learned a lot about plagiarism and marketing. I already learned a lot about commercials and AIDA in my former year (2th year). The reader was a bit useless because everyone forgets it and at the end of the period they make it in a few hours maybe there should be a system were you check of what they had to make that week. But after all it’s our responsibility to make it and not yours.
- Do you still agree with your team role according to
Belbin’s role test?
E: Yes, because I came with a lot of solutions.
D: Not really, because in the end you participate in every aspect of the process.
- What has been your biggest contribution to this
project?
E: I have been a quite all round person working along with anyone. I worked on the concept, story, storyboard, I helped by directing the commercial and added the sound effects/music.
D: I worked together a lot with Ellen. Overall have been involved with the whole process. I worked on the concept involving the made-up product and the commercial, the story, and the storyboard. Also gave some tips while filming the commercial.
- Choose one other group member and describe his/her
functioning during the project.
E: Debby was a great teammate to work with. We always operated closely in a team to get our work done. She was always concentrated on her work and delivered good products in time.
D: Ellen functioned really well in the group, if you needed help or tips she was there. Most of the time she was present during the lessons, and if she had to go, she would let us know in time. She is enthusiastic and always had her work done in time.

AIDA commercial: the gay one
A- The editing and acting really grabs your attention.
I- The audience gets interested in the product because the girl in the commercial is much happier when she uses the product. The humor in the commercial helps as well.
D- The commercial shows that the girls life after using the product has improved.
A- The commercial shows the app at the end, so the customer knows what it looks like.

Commercial:
A- The music really gets your attention.
I- Because he is really depressed about his untied shoe laces, and you then want to know what happens next.
D- You get a desire for the shoe laces because you are tired yourself of tying your shoes laces or trip over them if they happen to be or get untied while walking.
A- The moment you get the desire to actually buy them is when you see it really works on the person in the video and see him being so happy.

- What did you learn from this course? Do you have any
tips for improvement? I didn’t learn much... I expected to learn more about copyrights. Maybe there should be less storyboarding and planning and more English next time.
- Do you still agree with your team role according to
Belbin’s role test? Kind of. Bur I personally thought that Ellen would fit better in my role. She was kind of the leader of the group (which was a good thing).
- What has been your biggest contribution to this
project? The filming, making of the intro for the commercial and some editing.
- Choose one other group member and describe his/her
functioning during the project Stijn: He did pretty well. He was a great actor in the commercial.

The process of advertising. Big companys use the advertising agency.
An advertising agency creats, plans, and handle advertising for its clients. You start with the debriefing and asking yourself questions.
The brand of the product is very important. It gives a feeling. The logo of the name doesn’t make the brand but the people do.
Think about the message is towards your target group. If the message doesn’t fit the target group it won’t work.

What I learned from watching the lecture on advertising:
Big companies use advertising agency for creating their commercials and other forms of advertisement.
Before they start their work on making advertisement they listen to a briefing, a briefing is a presentation about what the company (customer) is looking for in a commercial/ad. After the briefing the send a debriefing to confirm the points they picked up from the briefing and to make sure they are on one page with the customer.
Also creativity is one of the most important aspects of making a good commercial/ad. Originality and creativity is what makes u stand out from other companies and makes your products more attractive.

What I learned from the lecture
sI missed a few lessons, so I rewatched the lecture on youtube. These are some of the things that I’ve learnt: Big companies (heineken, H&M) use advertising agencies to promote their products.  Every country needs different types of commercials. This is because every country has their own sense of humour, and some things are not allowed in some countries (such as bashing other products)  An advertising agency makes plans and produces commercials.  The company explains their concept and what they want in their commercial in a debriefing. The agency then pitches their idea, and if it’s a good one, it will be chosen.  Brand identity is very important because it gives the brand a feeling (hopefully a feeling that will attract customers) It’s very important to use social media as wel.  First comes execution, then implentation, and then aftersales.  To make a commercial, it’s best to know who your target group is, to stick to a theme and to think about the message you want to send

Geleerd les 2
Last week we learnt about the process of the advertising, such as;
- Big companies have their advertisements made by advertising agencies.
- The process of making a commercial from briefing till the final commercial.
Brand identity is very important for a company. Because it is important of that people think positive about your product/company. And that they recognize you as a company.
Humor is very essential for a commercial. A boring commercial doesn’t hold your attention very long.
There also are commercials that make advertisements for services or companies and not only about products.
When the commercials are finalized and ready to air you need to make sure you have all the mediums ready such as twitter, facebook, youtube on the internet, that so when it airs people can react on those mediums.
The key to a good commercial are:
Make it understandable for the target group you choose.
You have to make sure the quality and theme for your commercial is high and fitting.
You have to be clear about the message you want to give the viewers and what the purpose is of your commercial/company/product.

What I hope to learn
I’d like to learn more about plagiarism and how not to plagiarize. I’d also like to know more about copyright, and how to protect my own work.

What is plagiarism? Plagiarism is copying and/or stealing a product that somebody else had created. The person who plagiarizes has no permission to use the product and often doesn't show who the real creator is.

Bad commercial What is the product being advertised? : taxidermy How does the commercial attract your attention?: It’s a pretty weird commercial What details are provided to create interest in the product? : The commercial shows how ‘lifelike’ the taxidermy products are. How does the commercial make the product desirable? : It doesn’t.  What language is used to urge you to buy the product soon? : None. The only thing I hear is a redneck accent.   What visual techniques are used to engage the viewer? The commercial had some pretty bad text on it, and that’s about it. How is sound/music used to engage the viewer? It uses a few different kinds of music in the background.  Would this commercial influence you to buy the product? Why or why not? No. The commercial is so bad that it almost looks like a spoof.
