Alright, I’m not sure how many of you actually saw it, but theotherredeyedmaster recently submitted an app for the AU. For reasons I won’t disclose here, I had to decline it. However, they didn’t break any rules, or anything like that. And on top of that, they were on the fence about joining, and I was the one who told them to go for it. I’m going to say it again. I’m the one who told them to join. This is my fault, not theirs.

personality: Cheren is quiet. He carries a sense of inability to belong to any one organization or group due to personal issues of self-worth regarding his internal debate on whether or not he was fit to be champion. In recent days, Cheren has considered becoming Champion to become an agent of change && honesty in Unova, particularly because of Ghestis.
He’s generally very mild-mannered to strangers, but has a rather sharp tongue to those who get on his bad side.
background:
Time was a transient force. The ebb && flow constantly sent the world asunder, the subtle changes && manipulations stirring the world like a tempest in a teapot. Cheren, for as long as he could remember, wanted to open the secrets of that jar, to unearth the truth, the existence of time itself. He considered himself firmly rooted in reality - everything had an explanation. Nothing could defy that, he thought.
Bianca && Touko were the first to understand him. Though their hearts && minds aligned differently, Cheren knew they wouldn’t belittle his dreams like fine paper. They were honest with him, && he loved them - as deeply as any child might - in the way he loved his parents. He thought of them as the best of friends, the trio that would one day discover the mysteries.
Starting with how Bianca could never be on time. That would be a fine mystery to discover.
Cheren began his journey with the two best friends anyone could ask for. Touko && Bianca, honest && truthful. But he was easily jealous, of Touko, for her easy strength. Of Bianca, who loves so easily, as though the world deserved her love. He followed them, always feeling a step behind. He wanted to be Champion. To rise to the furthest heights.
In the end, he let that dream slip through his fingers. It wasn’t his dream to have, when he had no true designs to become a champion, had no idea what becoming a champion would entail. He let the dream go.
Too late.
He only arrived in the aftermath. If he had been able to protect her. A quiet, hollow shell, Touko was nothing of the bright, vivacious young woman he had known, once upon a time. He couldn’t help her. All her spark, faded. && he could do nothing to stop it.
In the end, he received a request from a strange man named Looker. A request from Touko, to fulfil a mission she could not. He wanted to help her, but how could he not?
abilities: Cheren possesses the ability to accurately and repeatedly use metronome to devastating effect.

personality: he’s a douche among douches to those he thinks are beneath him–sometimes in that infuriating way where you feel like he’s being passive aggressive and dismissive toward you but you have no substantial evidence to prove it. he’s a genius, he’s a legend, he’s one of the strongest trainers if not the strongest trainer in the world and he knows it. he expects you to know it too, lest he should have to teach it to you the hard way. in particular he’s highly suspicious of and antagonistic toward some of his colleagues, whether they have already tried to harm his career (justified), or whether he thinks they’ll try to harm him (unjustified - proactive retaliation).
however, when it comes to his jerkass behavior, he does know when to stop. he softens up if he hears that someone has been traumatized (it doesn’t change his opinion though, just the way he expresses it). moreover, he’s an absolute cinnamon roll around those he considers his family: lisia, his mother, two of his students, and steven. much of his assholery comes from his competitiveness as well as his busy-ness: he doesn’t want to associate with someone whom he thinks would be a waste of his precious time, and he gets territorial around those he thinks want to be better than him. but traumatized people have things to worry about other than competition. family does not necessarily try to compete, and if they do, he thinks that’s just the most idiotic bullshit. hence why he’s nicer to those kinds of people than to literally everyone else.
as for traits that could be either positive or negative? like every genius, wallace has his quirks. he can’t keep a schedule and will never teach himself to, because his schedule has always been determined by others. he often arrives late because he’s busy thinking up and practicing new ideas–his ideas are more important than any deadline, much to the delight of his audiences and the consternation of his colleagues. he can get intensely fixated on his goals, but at the same time he’s known worldwide for his improvisatory expertise–he keeps the end goal in mind while being open to all sorts of possibilities. lastly, his sass is unstoppable as near’s–he’s the terror of those with logic less than sound, but a welcome relief for those who just want the bullshit to end.

he grew up in a neighborhood that was one of the main sources of team aqua members, a hotbed of revolutionary activity, a place where violent vigilantism against unjust authority was the norm. and yet he was shown another path by mentors such as juan, a path that said killing was not the answer, that a true revolution can only be had through peace. ultimately, he chose the path of nonviolent resistance, hoping against hope that all those marches through the streets would march the nation on to change. but even as his viewpoint cools toward anarchic fire ‘neath the sea, the ghosts of where he came from try to light seditious sparks.
the years go by; calm civility offers nothing to his people in need. he clings to the notion that chants and rhetoric make a difference, but it has become increasingly clear: the water-type specialist, powerful though he has made himself, is a drowning man clutching at straws. do not bring weapons, say the protest leaders. do not shoot. but what will that do to save his family and childhood friends gunned down every year by colonial police–people who die as he struggles to retrieve them from his amnesia? what can he do, sitting so helplessly on his throne, for a people so close to him, and yet so alien(ated) to what he is now?
his hands are tied; kings and presidents pull the strings. team aqua offers one way out. TEAM GUARDIAN gives another.
stance on guardian: neutral–and quite frankly, terrified of how drawn he feels to radical movements. however, considering how much of an emotional mess he is about vigilante action, he can still easily be swayed by any rad who takes the time to convince him their side is the one that will bring justice.
abilities: genius level intelligence and bond phenomenon capabilities with milotic; otherwise no unnatural abilities. just don’t let him get his hands on the blue orb, unless you want him having The Entire Power Of The Ocean merged with his very soul.

Lillie is a girl in bloom, held back by the impression she gives. That first impression isn’t entirely bad, either. Dressed in all white, with delicate details on her expensive dress, she looks like a girl who has been raised properly. She speaks politely and hesitantly, not wanting to step on anyone’s toes, and will often bow her head to step out of your way.
However, not all of that is true of Lillie. While she was raised in luxury, it was all material. She lived with a mother who threw away things that bored her, and lived to not be one of those things thrown away. This subconscious mentality led Lillie to be a submissive girl with hidden anxiety that she, too, might be tossed aside if she stopped being ‘entertaining.’
Just as her outward appearance can be deceiving, her sad backstory can also lead to some judgment errors. While she was raised seeing people and Pokemon thrown aside, Lillie resists that mentality. She is a peaceful and loving girl. She is also, as mentioned, ‘a girl in bloom.’ Lillie is changing and growing as she resists her old life.
She is an exceptionally loving person. Where her mother throws people and Pokemon away, Lillie accepts and clings to everyone. She even loves the mother who threw her aside, both as an act of newfound rebellion and out of sheer love. Lillie does not like to see people suffer, whoever they are, and will push herself to find a happy alternative.
She is also experimenting with new sides of her personality, and discovering many more. Lillie used to accept that she was a pretty dress-up doll, but has begun experimenting with her own fashion. She is learning to make her own choices and exert her courage, but it is a work in progress. She has a shy stutter that still surfaces in day-to-day conversation, but the shy gloves are off when things get serious. Lillie has a talent for being brave when it counts, and will subconsciously access it. Point it out to her after the danger is passed, however, and she won’t be able to explain it.
Lastly, Lillie is experimenting with the idea of being a Pokemon trainer. She is new to training, though does have a knack for getting along with Pokemon. She greatly admires her friend [protag,] and wishes to stand on even footing with them– and, also, be able to take Nebby on adventures again.
It’s important to note, in final parting, that I am using a lot of Lillie’s anime self for her icons. This also plays into my portrayal of this AU Lillie. When she lived with her mother and lived afraid of being thrown away, Lillie kept her emotions in check. She timidly considered each word for its accuracy, appropriateness, and whether or not it would result in danger. I’ve chosen Anime Lillie icons, because this Lillie is not that girl anymore. She is no longer afraid of being tossed aside if her emotions aren’t ‘perfect.’
On the flip side, that means that this Lillie has had seldom chances to practice expressing herself to others. She’s used to being quiet and secretive. So nowadays, once she’s settled in someone’s company, Lillie’s emotions are explosive. She emotes hard, because she hasn’t struck the balance between ‘none’ and ‘some.’
For this reason, I use Lillie’s most expressive anime icons, despite the fact that my blooming Lillie would be experimenting with fashion outside her mother’s dollish choices. For the sake of IC explanation, my Lillie is using her old clothes as something of a subconscious safety blanket. They are also decently comfortable, and her mom bought her like 59 duplicates, so this reduces her laundry load and saves the environment. BS, accomplished.

Imagine the plot of Pokemon Sun and Moon. Good, you’re done. Lillie comes from the finale of SuMo. It has been almost a year since she returned to Kanto with her mother and began nursing her sanity. Once Lillie and her mother had reached an understanding, Lillie finally decided to do something for herself. She applied for her Kanto training license and went around Kanto as a trainer.
It was hard, and Lillie struggled quite a bit on her journey. There were many times when she wanted to give up and accept that training wasn’t for her. But along every step of the way, Lillie’s new Pokemon helped her stay brave. And while it was true that Lillie completed her Kanto Gym Challenge within a year’s time, she did not find training was for her.
As she collected her eighth badge, Lillie was turned towards Victory Road. She knew that her dear [protag friend] had once faced intense challenges, then gone down their own victory road… But Lillie, when faced with the same path, couldn’t take it.
She went home to her mother, thinking that maybe some rest would help. Being with her mother, and watching Lusamine’s slow recovery, Lillie realized what she had really wanted. The path she wanted to follow was not Victory Road and glory with her Pokemon: It was creating happy endings, and struggling against Fate with friends at her side. And none of this meant anything to Lillie if her [protag friend] and Nebby weren’t at the goal post.
So Lillie closed her badge case one last time. After ensuring that her mother had proper care, Lillie decided to finally do something for herself. She was going to leave Kanto and return to Alola. In order to truly get the strength she wanted, Lillie realized that she had to face Alola. She had to come back and make an effort, with her own two hands, to carve happy paths for the people her mother had hurt.
It was as she prepared to leave Kanto, having voiced her decision to all of her close friends and family, that Lillie learned of the Guardians. She was put in touch with Red, citing her experience with the legends of Alola and connections to Aether.
Lillie is still not sure how best to help. She doesn’t know if she wants to turn Aether around, or if she wants to be a hero like her friend… Maybe she could study Pokemon Conservation, or maybe she could learn to fight crime. But Lillie knows she wants to help, by her own strength. And she knows that the Guardians can help her become stronger, kinder, and more helpful.
abilities: Nothing special; she certainly has a special connection to Alola’s guardians, though.

Celosia has a bad attitude. She is known to go looking for things she can use to bring others down. It should also be known that she can be quite sly, and has even tried to blackmail others into doing what she wants them to do. This makes her a deadly mistress to most, but an asset to Team Flare.
However, her fatal flaw is her own self-loathing, and when she fails at a task, she breaks down into tears and goes on about how ‘lame’ she is. She often second guesses herself, and becomes rather hesitant to jump into action.
background:
Celosia’s parents divorced when she was rather young, and she lived with her father for most of her childhood. However, when she came of age, she moved into her mother’s house. The two would argue about basically everything, and eventually Celosia ran away, joining a small crime network.
One day, the police caught her, and she was arrested. Her jail time was short-lived, though, after Lysandre made her an offer: commit herself to his “charity organization” and he’d bail her out. Said organization would eventually become Team Flare.
Things seemed somewhat tame until they started refurbishing the Ultimate Weapon. The plan was to kill everyone outside of Team Flare, and she followed along with the scheme. The plan failed, thanks to a couple of kids, and Lysandre was found dead in Geosenge.
To this day, Celosia works underground for Flare.

Iris is a kid-at-heart with a generous personality. Despite spending a lot of her younger years feeling the pressing need to act older than her age, one of the things she learned growing up is that being a kid is perfectly okay at the right time and place. Even though Iris is mature and strong now, she still generally caries an upbeat attitude highlighted by seemingly endless confidence and optimism that was—let’s face it—actually well earned.
Because of this attitude though, Iris often slips under the radar—and that’s okay! People who know her, know her, and in her opinion, those who don’t are perfectly fine. She actually finds it to be a relief that people don’t expect her to be a Champion on a daily basis, particularly since the Champion lifestyle is otherwise so different from the way she grew up.
Regardless of what people think of her, Iris is quick to spring into action when someone needs help, whether that help be a meal for the family or needing to beat down some thieves. Sure, sometimes she’s tempted by the idea of revenge or letting people get their just deserts, but she’s learned that to be a true master—of dragons or otherwise—you have to be able to keep a level head and maintain a pure heart. Therefore, she’s not as vindictive or self-centered as she used to be, either.
Overall, Iris is significantly more mature than she appears. She has a massive trust in her own strength as well as that of her Pokémon, is humbled by her path and the immense amount of faith people have shown in her over the years, and knows when to put that serious face on when necessary. She’s blossoming into a young woman who understands not only the hearts of dragons, but of humans as well, which is something a younger her might not have even considered.

Having reigned as Champion for a few years now, Iris has seen plenty of good and evil in the world. She was there to take on Team Rocket when she traveled with Ash, and Team Plasma as a Gym Leader. But she had always had a discontent with the way the laws of the land handled these victories. She and her friends would do the legwork, hand them over to the International Police, and yet she would hear of people escaping; people getting away with their crimes. She would learn, as a child, that it was a crime to attack someone for being a criminal.
But she played her role. She learned to work within the confines of the Law so that she could be the best Gym Leader (and eventually Champion) she could be.
That was, until another Champion approached her with a dream of changing the world.
Although Iris readily accepted, as of right now, knowledge of her affiliation with Team Guardian is limited to a select few (to be decided depending on who joins the verse). She currently feels as though she’ll be most influential if she maintains a neutral stance, but she’s only biding her time, really.

appearance: Dianne has long, blonde hair that reaches down to her upper waist. She also has sapphire brown eyes that are more of a baby blue near the pupil. Her skin is a pale colour due to constantly using sunscreen. She is 5'6", but despite that, she looks like a teenager due to lack of food in her mid-late teen years.
personality: Dianne is a extremely nice person, who would do anything to help others. It is a easy mask to hide how she really feels inside. Until you personally meet her, she will seem to be really quiet and standoffish. She almost never breaks down, unless the subject either turns to her family or her father’s company. No matter who it is she is speaking to, she will be patient with a smile on her face. It is hard to get into her circle of real friends, however. It takes a lot of dedication to get into her real circle of friendship.
Once people get past her initial barriers of kindness and into her personal issues, it will get harder and harder for her to smile around them. She has a extreme fear of gaining friends just for them to leave in the end, and it is part of her reason to keep at a distance in normal situations when possible. But she is a sweetheart all around, it is just hard to be truthful about her emotions due to being trained to act like everything was alright.

Her name is Dianne Simmon, a twenty-five-year-old woman that was born and raised in the Kalos region. Ever since she was young, she acted boyishly and more like a guy than a girl, hair only barely to her shoulders and was one of the most active kids in the region. She was tended to be an outcast to other parents, with them encouraging their kids to leave her by herself and even bully her for her wanted way of life due to where she lived to be more of a town of richer people. Even her mother frowned upon this and always berated her for it. One time, when she was just about at the age to start her adventure, her mother slapped sense into her. Sylvia cried about how she was going to lose everything and get attacked if she kept up her act. Because of this, Dianne turned girly. While she hides her boyish side from others, it is still there and comes out when needed. Her father had left when she was young, so she had no idea that parents could be kind.
This caused her to run away from home when she was ten years old, instantly heading to Lumiose City to get a starter and to hopefully run away from the rich way of life. That was when she met Professor Sycamore, who had given her Ele, a Fenniken at the time, and a Pokedex. The Professor promised to keep the fact that she came by a secret, and allowed her to go on her way to her own adventure. Even so, there comes a time where even she needed a break. After her travels to many regions, she decided to return back to her own region at the age of sixteen. She was able to hide her identity for a while, five years to the exact. But one day, while she was casually traveling through a town, someone finally recognized her as the daughter of Sylvia. This caused her to be consistently chased after and flocked upon. It didn’t take long for her to snap.
Dianne had Ele use Hypnosis on the people around her and she instantly left for another region, able to hide her identity as she did so. The region she had chosen was Hoenn, for a couple reasons. The most decisive one was that next to no one there knew of the fact that Sylvia even had a daughter, and the other was that it was the region where she felt most at home at the time. Even after four years, she still travels around the Hoenn Region, hoping to be of help to someone or to find a place to settle down within the region.
abilities: Nothing spectacular, but knows a lot about fairy types and the areas of Kalos and Hoenn when asked. Also knows a bit about kinds of stones and rocks.

personality: Mello had become hardhearted and angry. Struggling with an inferiority complex, he is still a hard working and determined person despite his troubles. While he prefers to get things done his own way, he has been forced to conform to rules and is often discouraged by lack of successes. He puts his all into everything he does, and often pushes boundaries to get his way.
Though as time passes, he feels worse and worse. He’s been on the verge of giving up for the longest time, searching for something to make the fight worth it.
background: Mello was involved in team rocket for some time- willingly or not is unclear- before being taken into team guardian. Once established there, he took up spying on rocket for the benefit of guardian.

series: Pokemon BW & BW2
personality: N’s older sister Concordia has described him as “pure and innocent”. These two distinct traits ring very true of the green-haired man. He thinks nothing of himself, and only towards the happiness of pokemon and unfortunately knows hardly anything of the real world other than what he had grown up learning in Team Plasma. He’s naive and misinterepts quite a bit coming from the standpoint of other people. Despite this, N is considered a genius even if he does lack the aptitude for social skills.
He is a logical thinker & excels in math & because of this, he will sometimes ramble about equations, whether it be the equation of life or how fast a pen will drop to the floor after it rolls off a table due to someone dropping it inadvertantly on said table. When around Pokemon, he tends to speak to them freely & has been known to forget that humans are around watching him do so.
background: Natural Harmonia Gropius — This was the name gifted to him by Ghetsis Harmonia, the man that adopted him into his life at the age of four. Prior to this, N was raised beside Pokemon that had been abandoned by their trainers. Woobat, Zorua, and Darmanitan became his friends & family during those ages of growth and when Ghetsis took N in, he made sure to allow the boy his friends – after all, it was a stepping stone in his plot to rule the world. Being a child who knew nothing of the world, N paid no mind and loved his “father” as any child should, despite never actually seeing the man. Instead, two women by the names of Concordia and Anthea the ‘parental’ figures more so focused around N’s life.
As he grew up, N was put into the role of becoming “King” of Team Plasma. And, as King the ideals of the team would be to liberate Pokemon from people, this was merely another stepping stone for Ghetsis’ own advances. N became a pawn in a game of chess without knowing. At the start of the MAIN story of Black & White, N meets a trainer and he engages in battle with him. It is this trainer that begins to change his original thought processes, but at the same time he finds the ideas of forcing pokemon to do their bidding unforgivable.
It is not until he has reached the Elite Four & Champion, where he finally learns the error of his ways – specifically, how he has all along been a pawn in Ghetsis’ game to own the world. Unable to understand or comprehend what had occurred, N bids his farewell to the Chosen Trainer and leaves with Reshiram to embark on a journey to understand both himself, and the world better.
abilities: Capable of talking to pokemon as if they could speak human & capable of summoning pokemon to fight by his side. Does not use pokeballs. Is it cool to count this as “disabilities” too? Because if so, N has autism.
team: team changes. only two set pokemon are Zoroark who is always by his side, and Reshiram whom chose him as the Hero of Truth
