Something "The Manuscript" highlights for me is one of the major differences between her relationships with John and Jake, because while both were obviously devastating, and seem to have taken a similar toll on her, they are also starkly different.
The area of difference I'm talking about specifically is her residency; Jake was her first relationship "out of the house," which gave her the freedom to explore and invest in that relationship more deeply than any before it. It was first glimpse at "real" adulthood and "real" heartbreak.
In contrast, everything with John was plagued by her youth. She still lived in her mother's house for Christ's sake! She has the option to go crawl into her mother's bed if that's what she needs, and it is what she so desperately needs.
However, the specific Jake idioms and references that seem to be in place (largely tying back to All Too Well and the promo surrounding it) imply that the song is (primarily) about that relationship, and it's roll as that "first" for her.
And yes, the sexual element comes into play in a completely harrowing way. Of course it does! Because regardless of how "new" it was to her (I REALLY don't want to get into virginity debates) there was evidently a shift that occurred in her in that relationship and all that followed in all aspects.
I haven't stopped thinking about it since I heard it, and I just want to say, Taylor Swift, I'm so sorry you felt that way, and thank you for sharing that you did.

With the whole "re-contextualisation" element of these playlists, I feel like it's an appropriate time to raise the point that I think people get blind-sighted by the narrative Taylor presents at a certain time, which then leads to them getting shocked when she goes, "actually, there's this thing that happened too."
The biggest examples of this are, in my opinion, the vault tracks and Midnights. With songs like I Can See You, she modifies the perception of herself from that time. She says, "hey, just because I had a pristine reputation and a good girl image to uphold does not mean that I wasn't (at least THINKING) about fucking. I am human. I was a normal young adult, going through normal young adult experiences. Me not sharing them at the time does not mean they didn't happen."
Whereas with Midnights, her ability to re-contextualise presents itself in a different way. With songs like You're On Your Own, Kid, the information being shared is the same in nature but told with a different tone. Taylor wrote (literally) 100s of songs about not being chosen by the guy she liked in her adolescence, but in not one of the songs that she released did she dare to say, "he was smoking with his friends." It is not a revolutionary detail, but it is a detail that's presence makes its former absence seem poignant.
As a fan, one of my personal favourites things to experience within the past few years, is this process of re-contextualisation, but I fear that many of her fans take that additional information and run rampant with conspiracy. They sensationalise the unsensational in hopes of cracking the code and "getting" Taylor better than everyone else, whilst forgetting that everything shared is at an arm's distance. That's why there is a seemingly never ending flow of NEW and FRESH "tea" being provided.
"It is not a revolutionary detail, but it is a detail that's presence makes its former absence seem poignant." i really like how you articulated this!

This is actually how I feel about almost the entirety of Midnights
I feel like Bejweled is about joever in the sense that it wouldn't have been born without the joever thoughts, but it's not about joever in the sense that the story told isn't about them specifically. (And I think that somehow aligns with what you've been saying? I don't want to put words in your mouth though)
bingo (and that still fits into the arc that @maryoliveoil posted, i think)

Re-organising and (slightly) analysing Debut:
(I originally uploaded this on Twitter back in December, but since this side of the fandom is currently engaging in some #ttpd prep, I thought I'd bring it over here!)
Rules:
I had a few guidelines that I set out before embarking on this task:
My Version of the Tracklist had to be inkeeping with the original tone and themes of the album.
It had to have the same number of tracks as the STANDARD edition of the album, BUT tracks from the deluxe (and for future albums, vault) are viable entries.
The songs had to be chosen based on their level of necessity rather than on my personal preference. The only exception would be if there were two songs that explored similar themes and I WILDLY preferred one to the other.
I set out a few variations of the tracklist but ultimately landed on this ordering. So please, sit back, relax, and enjoy Debut (My Version) with some commentary in between!
Track #1: A Place In This World
At its core, this album is about a girl trying to find her place in this world. If it wasn't called Taylor Swift, it would probably be called “A Place In This World.” She named her GMA special after it and everything! It sort of works as a thesis statement for the record and also starts things off on an upbeat note.
Track #2: Stay Beautiful
Keeping with the first track's upbeat energy, the song follows Taylor as she longs for the person she admires to find their way back to her after they find their “place in this world.” It also starts the pining portion of the album.
Track #3: Teardrops On My Guitar
It is here that we start entering into sad territory. This pining has turned into something deeper than a passing appreciation. It has started to weihn on her. This song also highest the “You’re On Your Own, Kid” arc of the album; she yearns, then she learns, and then, finally, she writes.
Track #4: Invisible
With the fourth track, the yearning is shown to be more desperate and hopeless than previously. She is begging the objection of her affectionate to even acknowledge her. It also speaks to the larger theme of ostracization that caries through into track 6, “The Outside.” She feels invisible not just to her crush but amongst her peers.
Track #5: Cold As You
Cold As You is her frustrated response to the coldness people have shown towards her. She's discovered that her affection will never be reciprocated and that her attempts to change this will only leave her feeling even more isolated.
Track #6: The Outside
The Outside follows this realisation. It picks up the tempo after the sad spell over the previous 3 tracks. However, its lyrics continue to expand on her frustration over her current isolation. She seemingly has no one in her corner, and their isn't much she can do to change it. (Also, she ate by putting these songs one after the other on the OG because “I've never been anywhere cold as you,” to “I've been a lot of lonely places. I've never been on the outside,” is so…)
Track #7: Picture to Burn
After that lot of sad, pining songs with sad, pining lyrics, Picture To Burn is when we get some true blue Cuntry. She has (rather aggressively) cut off the people who previously made her feel low and is regaining her sense of self-confidence. You could even say she is letting herself Bejewelled™️.
Track #8: Our Song
Continuing the Cuntry track run, in Our Song, Taylor seeks comfort in the memories made by her and her partner. It repeats the music as a metaphor motif rather prominently, comparing the memories made together to the sound of a song.
Track #9: I'm Only Me When I'm With You
At this point in the album, Taylorhas accepted the fact that while everyone may not understand her, those that matter do, and it is around those people that she can truly be herself.
Track #10: Mary's Song (Oh My My My)
In this track, Taylor recounts a lifelong love story through all of it's ups and downs. It is a wistfully romantic song, that helps transition from the carefree tone of the previous track, to the reminiscent tone of the closer.
Track #11: Tim McGraw
While similar to Mary’s Song in its nostalgic nature, the track takes on a slightly sadder tone, as the relationship this track was inspired by has come to a close. Still, she hopes that the other person will remember the happiness they shared and that the switch of a radio station may one day elicit that same joy. She hopes that the song reminds them of her, whether that be because it's a song that plays a key part in their memories together, whether it's her own, or, in the case of Our Song, it's both. This song, being the closer, encourages the listener to incorporate her music into their memories in the same way that Taylor and her former flame have incorporated Tim McGraw into theirs.

im going to say something thats gonna get ppl pissed but its just so weird i cant take it anymore.
taylor’s stalker has been arrested 3 times in the last 5 days. he keeps getting released, and RIGHT after getting released he goes back to her house again.
there are thousands of horrific AI pictures of her on twitter, which get thousands of likes and are not taken down no matter how many reports ppl make. but as soon as you say something to the men that made those disgusting NON-consensual pics, your tweet gets banned.
yet, somehow, someway no one seems to bat an eye on it which is so crazy to me bc no one seems to extend a sympathy towards her or accept that whats happening to her is just BLATANT misogyny. idk what occured in these last few years for yall to think misogyny can’t just happen to any women but its driving me crazy. yes she’s rich, white and priviledged yet STILL experiences these things, doesn’t that make you wonder just how pervasive misogyny is????
