I love the parallels between the way the magisterium interact with their daemons in comparion to the characters trying to overthrow them. Daemons like Mrs Coulters and the priests are ignored and only interacted with in a negative context, expressing how the magisterium promotes subserviance and herd mentality, just like how religious indoctrination techniques aim to brainwash and prevent acts of free will. In comparison, Lyras and Lees daemon reassure them, and both work with them and disagree with them, helping them come to informed decisions and think critically about each situation, just like how ones own consiousness is always a thing of good (even in bad times) as it helps us make the best informed decisions. Like, imagine never second guessing anything you are told to do or say, and ultimately, how subservient that would make you! That is why people in Lyra's world are so concerned about daemons, and why they are so set on their destruction. If you can get rid of someones free will, the control you gain is immesurable...

People watching Will and Lyra who haven't read the book: woah, the botanical gardens are stunning. What a cool place to set a scene. Im sure this means nothing at all...

This episode was a bit slower than usual because its setting the story for this season, but seeing Red panda Pan made it 1000% better. Also, i love every scene in which Will interacts with cats. Please give will his Daemon quicker than in the book because i cannot wait to see them interact!
