Palmer says Sr. is grateful they helped bring Ziva back and that the entire family is okay.

Chapter 4: Have you heard?

The sun had started to set when Liat entered the hall that would lead her to Ziva's room. Before she reached the door Miriam quickly stood up and motioned her closer.
"It's best if I tell you before you enter. Ziva had a visitor after you left. Something caused her a great deal of stress. She appeared to have knocked herself on her frame, her left hand was bleeding and she turned herself wrong in her bed, causing herself a lot of pain. I could not get her to calm down and we had to sedate her again. Her breathing was off so for now we added an oxygen mask to help her out a little. The sedation is mainly to get her stress and pain down, she's had a rough day. We will get her of the sedation again tomorrow but she can use a good night's sleep. I'm sorry"
Nodding her head in responds that she had understood Liat thanked Miriam and continued on to Ziva's room. Seeing there the oxygen mask and bandage Miriam had told her about. Knowing only one person could cause Ziva this kind of distress. Why did fathers have to be like this.

The days past slowly and McGee could only hope that Gibbs would get the team together again. While he did like his new position in the tech department, feeling pretty good anytime someone called him boss, he missed being in the MCRT team. It would have been a whole lot less if everyone was still at NCIS. He did not see Gibbs but heard snippets about him from Abby. He stayed in contact with Tony as best as they both could. Tim sensing his friend needed the familiarity of their banter ,even if it was online, to stay somewhat sane out on the ocean. Ziva had all but disappeared from their lives. And Abby. He looked at the clock, lunch break and if he wanted to be on time for his weekly lunch with Abby he needed to hurry.
When they were eating Abby was back to the questions. Every once in a while she asked McGee if he had heard more from Tony than she had, if he knew if Gibbs had gotten Vance to put the team back together again. The first two weeks she asked constantly about Ziva. Did he know if Ziva's flight had landed yet? Did her flight back go alright? Was she already back at Mossad? Did she enjoy being back in Israel? After the constant barage of questions the first two weeks she had just as suddenly stopped. Why McGee had only been able to guess. It had taken a long time for Abby to warm up to Ziva. He had never been able to pin point the moment their dynamic changed. From one day to the next it seemed as if they had always been friends, Abby accepting Ziva's input and even hugging her. What he also knew was that once Abby let someone in close enough to call you friend instead of acquaintances she did not easily let go. However he also knew that with being hurt Abby could shut you out, trying to protect her own feelings. He knew Ziva hadn't contacted Abby since she had left. Two weeks of complete silence about Ziva, he was all the more surprise at the question that Abby voiced next.
“Have you heard from Ziva?” Abby looked up at him, her eyes full of hope.
He sighed “No, Abby I have not”
Abby looked down shortly, as if she was doubting if she should ask further. “Do you know if Tony heard from her?”
Again McGee shook his head "You know I haven't Abby. I would have told you otherwise."
“Why not McGee!?" raising her voice. "She couldn't have forgotten us that fast!"
At this outburst McGee was a little shocked, he was glad that there was too much noise for people to look up and pay attention to them. There was nothing he could say to Abby to ease her worry. It was indeed strange that Ziva had not contacted anyone of them. Not even a short message telling them she was alright. In his mind he had summed it up to her being sent on a mission, or wanting a clean break. After all the chance of them ever being a team again was small. Ziva returning to America to stay was even a smaller chance.
When McGee stayed silent Abby threw her napkin down and stormed away. McGee knew that it was to no use to run after her. If Abby was in one of her moods, especially since the team had been split up there was no one that could reason with her. Sometimes not even Gibbs. So he just paid and left for the NCIS basement again. Thinking about emailing Tony again to update him, and ask once again on Abby's behalf if he had any knowledge about Ziva.

"Officer Levy, enter" the stern voice of Eli David spoke after the officer had knocked on the door.
On the way back from the hospital Eli had thought about the problem now before him. For one he had to change a lot of the missions lined up. Had to view at personnel files to see who best fitted the work now officer David no longer was an option. Officer David, he could no longer allow himself to think of her as his daughter. Having a cripple as a close family member was a liability. A liability that his enemies, that Israel's enemies would use against him. The scum he had to deal with only understood strength. Officer David being the best the most lethal officer he had kept anyone daring to use her against him at bay.
Now she was a weakness, one he would not allow. Any trace of his link to her had to disappear. Having talked it over with only his most trusted officer and adviser Amit Hadar. They had come up with a plan, that being the reason officer Levy was being called into his office.
"What we discuss in this room does not leave it, understood?" Officer Levy having always been a trusted and loyal server would not cause a problem. Would not question his orders. Would follow them to the letter and never speak about it.
Eli explained that he Levy to make it seem as if Ziva David had never existed. That none of her contacts would ever find her again. And most importantly that she could not contact any of them. The more people who would find out the easier word could get out to the wrong people.
After officer Levy was told his orders and left again Eli turned to officer Hadar.
"Keep an eye on officer Tuvia. We have not lost control of her despite her misplaced loyalty. I would hate to see all her potential go to waste. If there are any problems contact me directly"

As always Gibbs' gut knew when Abby found something for him. Armed with a caf-pow he entered her lab. Noticing at once her music being turned off. He found her hunched over at her desk. It reminded him of the time right after Kate died. First putting the caf-pow down before going to her he placed his hand on her shoulder. "Talk." was all he had to say.
Before Abby looked up at him, tear marks that had mixed with her makeup streaking down her face. "It's never going to be the same again is it?" hopeful, the way a child would ask their father for reassurance when being upset. Believing with every fiber of their being that whatever he would say he would be speaking the truth, fathers knew all.
"They'll be back" trying to speak with his normal authority. At the same time knowing he might have lied to Abby. As the weeks had passed Gibbs got onto the game Vance was playing. What he was trying to accomplice with reassigning every member of his team. Now Gibbs had figured it out he would speed the process of the mole hunt along and try to end this game as soon as possible.
