When the jokes on TV aren’t funny so you write your own jokes
I’m not reviving the rotational gameplay (for now). After months of not opening this save file, I opened a few weeks ago to test out some gshade presets. My last household was Johnny Zest’s and I had actually taken several screenshots. I just never got around to editing and writing captions for them because my interest in my own OCs was taking over. I don’t want to say I’ll never play with premades again because sometimes I do miss it. I just can’t get past a few sim hours before I’m bored, which doesn’t happen as much when I’m playing with my OCs. So in the spirit of keeping this game a recreational thing instead of a chore, I chose not to continue with the rotational gameplay.
Fast forward to today. I’m messing around in Photoshop, trying to combine/create actions that simulate a film look for my Lightflower gameplay. I’m happy with the results but can’t really post the screenshots without spoiling my own story, so I apply the actions to these pictures of Johnny instead. And ta-da! It’s giving sad clown vibes because of Johnny’s traumatic upbringing and disownment by the Landgraabs.

Another day in the Zest household! Bills have rolled in and that 3 thousand plus looks a lot more pitiful now! Oh wait, it’s 6 thousand. Bah. I guess we have accumulated things and stuff. Anyway, I actually had the boys chat with each other. ...also Joaquin and Valentino are not getting on well at all because now we got a Festering Grudge sentiment on Joaquin’s end. Johnny’s second, non-music listening whim, was getting to a disliked relationship with another sim. But how can I know if I truly dislike them if I don’t know anything about them! I invited Mizuki Maeda over...but she decided to not show up. Fair!
Anyway, let’s focus not on the haters, but on the friends we can make! Johnny ran into Jesminder last night at the bar and now he’s going to make himself known better!
Humor and Hijinks festival popped up! And we have two goofballs of dudes! Let’s go! I’ve set the boys into opposite teams. Johnny for the Jokesters and Joaquin for the pranksters! Who will win? It’ll be a blast either or! Johnny’s got loads of routine’s up his sleeve so I set him to the microphone. Funnily enough, both of the boys are actually sad because their relationship with their roommate is down the toilet. Everyone is supposed to love them! Why isn’t Valentino?
Johnny’s pretty much commanding the crowd’s attention and focus with all of these routines and jokes. Which hey, he is a famous comedian! A three-star celebrity! Has that commanding presence that everyone loves! Except for their roommate. Alas and alack! Comedians win! Johnny wins! And so we get fireworks and a mic all to sell. Time to enjoy the fireworks and return home to eat and sleep. ...man they didn’t get to enjoy the festival food. Alas!

Final day! I was hoping we could make it to the new home, but alas. I’m not going to try until 220 thousand and we’re 192 thousand. Joaquin wants to listen to the tunes, the tunes being Winter Holiday! You may ask why Winter Holiday and, well, he has had a nice Christmas to have good memories of those tunes.
...you know what would be funny though? If Joaquin couldn’t stand Backyard music. It’s the one fault in their relationship. And so I made it so! So now, flee! Flee from Johnny and his tunes! Man, I was totally in the mood for the boys to actually go on a date. Alas, Johnny has work this day. Need to devote a good eight hours to a proper date!
Speaking of which, Octavia, you are married! No! Anyway, one of Johnny’s whims is to write a guitar song and so we shall! He got nominated for another Starlight Award...hey! I forgot to go to that on Sunday! But that was the day we went to the bar and hung out and had fun at least. And Joaquin is now a 5-star Celebrity! ...putting on that Celebrity Home lot trait really does seem to help with fame gain. I nabbed that Trailblazer fashion one, the Easy Street career one, and the 1 tier socalization boost one since I had an extra fame point. So later today, we should do that tile placement on the Starlight Boulevard!
One day Joaquin will fade into the mists of time. But not this day as he is now immortalized for now in plaque! And yet, woes with his roommate overpower his good mood. Alas and alack!
And now Octavia is the performer? -shrugs wildly- Anyway. We’ll just listen to the violin sing for a bit before sending Joaquin home. Final day done! Guess it’s time for-

The residents of my version of Bedrock Strait in Oasis Springs!
"Residents of this delightfully kitschy neighborhood take pride in their billboards and lawn gnomes. And who wouldn't love getting to say hello to Barry the Brontosaurus every morning?"
From top left to bottom right:
Living in a van at Sandtrap Flat trying to make it as a comedian after being disowned by the Landgraabs, Johnny Zest.
Brandy Broke wanted a change of scenery after the drama and trauma of Pleasantview, so the Broke family moved to a mobile home at Pebble Burrow right after unborn baby broke, named Skip Jr. after his father, was born. Dustin Broke has already got himself involved in crime and mischief, while Brandy attempts to raise Beau Broke in what she hopes to be a happier environment.
Still having big trouble getting that artist dream off the ground, Darren Dreamer has fallen into debt and had to sell the house in Pleasantview. buying the smallest mobile home in the neighborhood at Agave Abode. Out of shame he sleeps in the storage room and gave the only bedroom to his soon-to-be young adult son, Dirk Dreamer who dreams of a much different life from his father.
Ousted from the FutureSim Labs Institute for his radical dislike for aliens and advocating for a stronger focus on rocket science and servos, mad scientist Dr. F has set up a rival lab a short distance away at Slipshod Mesquite, just close enough to spy with a not-so-subtle scanner or three. While most scientists stayed with FutureSim, Dr. F managed to recruit ambitious robot scientist Alexa Lexington, as well as a janitor/astronaut/maintenance guy called Vic Vector to his cause. The lab also has two servos, Dr. F's first prototype, a slightly paranoid tree-loving one who is called Proto-Makoto, as well as the second prototype, a hot-headed chef-bot called T.O.B.O.R.

Winter breaks! For the definition of winter in Oasis Springs which is, mildly chilly. Which also means only three more days in this household! Joaquin is up and awake and feeling extremely confident from conquering his fear! Still just wants to listen to those tunes and once again, that one song Ghosts, the one that’s not on the song list, pops up. Time to vibe just for a bit.
Johnny also woke up at 10am. What he wants to do is to fullfill an aspiration goal. Unfortunately for him, it’s the one where he needs 4 skills in Charisma. High level ones at that. I’ll at least get him a level. Next for Joaquin on his whims is to invite a Sim over. ...I haven’t really had him chat with the third member of Spin Masters, Jeff Knoles so let’s bring him over! But first, I spy a note by our bed...
Ah. Well, let’s do the respectable thing and actually check Valentino’s trailer. Perhaps there is something that is broken down. We find nothing so...alas, this is complaints for complaints sake! Actually internalizing and fixing things? Naaaaaaaaaaah.
Anyway, Jeff Knoles is one of my own sims. One where I took the personality quiz as myself, so he’s basically me! If I were a dude. He’s a celebrity chef who’s a music lover, so he’s in the Spin Masters thanks to a love of Electronica music. Joaquin also asks about his other favorite tunes and it’s the Blues. Cause I also like guitar plucking with him. Anyway, that’s two whims down on Joaquin. Let’s actually get some progress on his aspiration. To write those tunes! Sadly, from what I remember, DJ stand will not count for this. So to the keyboard!
Johnny got his charisma up at least so now to manage his needs! Because man does he need to go to the toilet, have a bite to eat and have some fun. So with the automatic needs pulling him to the computer, I set him to troll the forums, check social media, post an update and then finally, set him to find out the latest and greatest trends on Youtube.
...side note, our roommate found himself locked out of our homes, despite the fact I saw him just inside a moment ago. Eh, must have dropped his key or something. So we got tech reviews, travel, herbalism and sad vlog. ...Johnny is never sad! The best we can do for him is the travel so let’s head off somewhere!
At the Rattlesnake Bar, we set up the drone to record neighborhood footage. I’m going to have to keep an eye on it, because it’ll zip around and who knows where it’ll end up in the end.
Beautiful time for a drone to go out and record footage. Good timing Johnny.

Anyway, it’s Guys Night at the bar so hey, let’s invite Joaquin over! As soon as we retrieve our drone. And Valentino as well! Why the heck not? Despite the fact he’s a loner and potentially at work.
Jesus. This is as cramped as I’ve ever seen this bar. It is a place for up-and-coming celebrities to hang out at but yeesh! In terms of socializing, at this point, Johnny’s just vibing to his backyard tunes, because there is a jukebox and he was here first. And my song’s on. I CAN’T HELP IT. I’m a romantic sap, even if country isn’t totally my thing. Anyway, it’s 2AM. Time to head home. Both of the boys are exhausted so they need the sleep.

meet the first generation of my casual gameplay household! luna dandelion is the matriarch and founder. while enrolled for university, she became pregnant with her first daughter taryn and decided to drop out to take care of her. thus she moved to oasis springs and met johnny zest! although they started out as best friends, johnny eventually moved in to help her take care of taryn and soon a romance began. this culminated into a sweet marriage and eventually their son together, cosmo. luna is currently on the boss branch of the criminal career, johnny is on the comedian branch of the entertainer career, and both taryn and cosmo are A students.

Nancy: I need your help, to put it bluntly. I need time to figure this out, without involving your father. There is too much going on, especially with your father’s re-election, I can’t handle that and this. And…I didn’t know …where else to go. I know we have some…issues. But I’m asking you for help which isn’t easy thing for me to do, Johnathan. I just need time. Please.
Taking in his estranged pregnant mother was the last thing Johnny could imagine for himself. Especially when things was finally looking up in his comedy career and in his life in general. But turning her away isn’t an option for someone like Johnny. Maybe it’s something a Landgraab would do but he’s not a Landgraab anymore is he?
