i think its so funny my approach to transformative fiction because my two biggest things i want to create that are essentially “fanfic” like . no fan is gonna want to read
yowamushi puroresu just because its so extremely niche and self indulgent and the cross section of people who enjoy/don’t mind enough to actually bother reading a webcomic about the niche cycling sports anime yowamushi pedal And the polyamorous rarepair in it tadotoumaki And so many trans hcs And on top of all of that that is very heavily set in a pro wrestling AU like . i’m gonna be real with you no one is reading that chiara
and then this new idea after watching my own private idaho is so funny because like absolutely a lot of people make ‘the author is dead these are my ideas because i could’ve made this piece of fiction better’ but with cult movies like that that just isn’t the way most fans are approaching it. so me being like ‘i am not a Fan of this per se i am a fan of the basic concepts in it and what it could be but also the actual movie is not very good and i am very critical of it while simultaneously very emotionally invested’ is not gonna really attract an audience skgjhskjdfghkjsdf
i’m just doing this for me and no one else i guess

P-P-P-Power Rankings!!
Shinkalion (Last: 1): IT WAS A BAD DAY TO BE HAYATO, BECAUSE FIRST HE GOT STOMPED IN PAIR TRAINING, THEN HE TRIED TO LEARN SOME FIGHTING SKILLS AND GOT STOMPED SOME MORE, THEN HAD TO FIGHT THE BLACK SHINKANSEN AND COULDN'T REALLY HURT IT.
Record of Grancrest War (Last: 2): Alexis finally marched into battle and demonstrated his tactical acumen, crushing Dawson and even defeating the King of Nord at sea, making the Union a true threat to the Alliance.
Golden Kamuy (Last: 4): Tetsuzo Nihei tried to hunt Retar and is one of the prisoners with a map tattoo, so the fight with him is important and stuff, but the biggest development was Asirpa finally trying, and liking, miso.
Kamen Rider Build (Last: 3): Stark took Pandora's Box to the tower, forcing the riders to scamble to recover it. But not even Sento's Hazard forms were strong enough before he lost control, so the box was unleashed.
LoGH: Die Neue These (Last: 6): After bluffing his way into the control room, Schonkopf drove out Iserlohn's officers and Yang chased off the imperial fleet by having them witness the power of his fully armed and operational battle station.
Megalo Box (Last: 5): Fourth-ranked Mikio Shirato challenged Joe on TV for the right to the final slot in Megalonia. But he then threatened to reveal Joe's true identity, which would disqualify him regardless of the result.
Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory (Last: 7): The search for Kaname began in a city where robots wrestle for fun and profit. Sagara got hired by a local team to cover expenses, won a robot fight, and punked some dudes.
Yowamushi Pedal: Glory Line (Last: NR): The race at the front entered a new phase with the arrival of Imaizumi and Onoda, who reached Kyoto near the mountain line while baby Shinkai lagged behind Onoda's fierce pace.
Aiming for eight each week cuz eighters gonna eight. Full watch lists: [Animu][Dramu]

Current Obsession
Since I finished school early this year, I’ve got a lot of time on my hands while I wait for my friends, who all go to different high schools, to finish with their exams and stuff, I’ve revisited a pretty big obsession of mine, and that’s sports anime. I haven’t seen them all, and I’m planning on watching Diamond No Ace and Yowamushi Pedal, because besides Kuroko No Basuke, Haikyuu, Prince Of Stride, Days and Free, they seem to be the most popular, but I could be wrong. If anyone knows a good sports anime that I haven’t mentioned yet, feel free to suggest it and I’ll check it out.
I’ve been really into crossovers and headcanons lately, which equals me spending a lot of time on Tumblr and Pinterest instead of doing something productive with my free time, but I’ve got zero self-control when it comes to fangirling about my favorite sports dorks, so...
Anyways, I really like the parallels between Haikyuu and Days, how some characters are pretty similar, like Noya and Haibara, and Suga and Usui, and Taira honestly reminds me of Oikawa. Plus, I’m all for friendships between characters like Kise and Oikawa, and I think Hinata meeting Kagami would be really funny, and I can’t be the only ones who thinks it’s hilarious that Murasakibara and Kimishita have the same first name when they’re complete opposites? Imagine them meeting, it’d be fun to watch.
Speaking of Days, I rewatched the other day, and I have this headcanon that I’ve been putting a lot of thought into, like what if Seiseki had a female coach who helps out Nakazawa with coming up with strategies and everything, and she’s a second-year student, and miracle of miracles, she’s really good friends with both Kimishita and Shiba? She’s known Shiba since they were in diapers, and then they both meet Kimishita in grade school, and even though the two morons can’t stand each other, they’re both really protective of her? Like making sure she’s okay and happy is the only thing they can agree on? And she’s the only one they’ll both listen to no matter what, and she can stop them from fighting just by coming between them, and putting one hand on Kimishita’s shoulder, and the other on Shiba’s chest, because she’s short and can’t really reach his shoulder without standing on her tiptoes? Of course, she’s a hothead like them, and she has an extremely low tolerance for bullshit, so the entire team loves, respects and fears her at the same time? The first-years are more afraid of her than they are of Kimishita, even though she’s generally much nicer to them on a daily basis.
And even though she complains about them being idiots and stuff, she actually cares about them a lot and she cheers for them during games, and she always praises the first-years when they do really well? Sure, she praises the upperclassmen too, but the firsties sometimes take priority because she knows they get nervous during matches so she makes sure they’re always okay. And she’s gotta be a cuddler, especially with Kimishita and Shiba, because she’s the most comfortable around them, but the two of them react to getting hugged and jumped on completely different? Kimishita is a tsundere, so of course he freaks out a little and almost overheats everytime she gives him a hug and he sort of freezes up when she rests her head on his shoulder, but he can never push her away so he just sighs and lets her curl up against him whenever she wants to, and he glares at the rest of the team over her head, daring them to say something. Shiba is the complete opposite, though, and he craves affection so much, so he’s usually the one initiating the cuddling, and he’ll grin like a dope everytime she tells him he did good during a match. He’s always had a crush on her, so he loves having an excuse to put his arms around her or rest his chin on her head, and after he runs himself into the ground during their match against Saku High, he holds her hand, even though he’d like nothing more than to have her sit on his lap, but she has to watch the game closely, so he just settles for sitting on the bench and playing with her fingers while she concentrates on the match. The entire team lowkey ships them, and Kazama is of course the one always teasing one of them, and Kimishita isn’t above adding in his two cents occasionally, even if it earns him a water bottle to the head. That’s still better than the time she drop kicked him for letting Taira get into his head, and she literally wrestled him into the grass until Kimishita was pinned down, with her sitting on his back and twisting his arm behind his back until he promised to talk to her next time when something like this happens and he loses his confidence, because she knows he doesn’t like to talk about his problems and insecurities but he always lets her rant to him whenever she’s sad, so she wants to do the same for him. Also, Shiba gets the most irritated when a guy from another team tries flirting with her, and both Taira and Maruoka have almost died at his hand because of it.
Woah, okay, that ended up being a little longer than I thought, and yet I think I might’ve missed something, but oh well. I love having a place where I can rant about stuff like this, ‘cause my friends either don’t watch anime or they have completely different preferences for which genre they like :P

Three-Episode Test: Alex's Winter 2017
Welcome (back) to the Three Episode Test, where contributors give you the low-down on what they're watching from the current simulcast season and why. In this entry, disappointment in the new is contrasted by returning and continuing favorites.
Masamune-kun’s Revenge
Streaming on Crunchyroll True to its title, Masamune-kun’s Revenge centers around Masamune Makabe, a teenage boy seeking revenge on those who bullied him for being overweight as a child. Thanks to a strict diet and obsession with being thin, Makabe has “matured” into a vain high-schooler whose fixation on his appearance is rivaled only by his thirst for revenge against a girl named Aki Adagaki, who called him "pig's foot" when he was a chubby youngster.
I wish I could say the first few episodes lay the groundwork for an insightful story about the struggles of youth, eating disorders, and the harmful effects of bullying, but the unlikeable characters and tasteless fanservice leave me feeling otherwise. The one interesting narrative twist that suggests the show may have something meaningful to say is Adagaki’s binge eating habit. It serves as a foil to the actions of the now weight-obsessed boy she once bullied and hints at underlying emotional issues that, if handled properly, could explore how one’s food obsession can be an unhealthy coping mechanism. Will it deliver? I’m not getting my hopes up.
Will Makabe’s plan to win and then subsequently break Adagaki’s heart take an entirely predictable turn as a romance blossoms between the two? Almost certainly. Will he end up learning a valuable lesson and become a better person for it? No doubt. Will I be keeping up with high school-set harem every week to see how it all plays out? Probably not.
Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga (sequel)
Streaming on Crunchyroll After just three episodes, it’s already clear to me why Blue Exorcist manga readers have been so excited for an anime adaptation of the Kyoto arc. Ignoring the last nine episodes of the anime’s first season, which strayed from the manga with entirely original content, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga picks up right after the events that transpire in Episode 16 following Rin’s classmates’ shocking discovery that he’s the blue flame-imbued son of Satan.
I really appreciate the time taken during Kyoto Saga’s first few episodes to dive deep into the psyche of its core cast to explore how each of Rin’s peers process and wrestle with this unsettling revelation. I found Konekomaru’s outright fear of Rin and concern for the rest of his friends to be particularly effective in driving home the disturbing implications of Rin’s origins and its effect on the overall group dynamic. After all, one can’t forget about that fateful night sixteen years ago when blue flames swallowed the lives of Bon’s grandfather, Konekomaru’s dad, and many more.
I’m equally intrigued to see how Kyoto Saga’s overarching plot plays out. The season opens with the betrayal of a now demon-possessed exorcist who’s stolen the Left Eye of the Impure King. There’s undoubtedly a greater evil at play, with plans to unite the two eyes, which I can only assume would result in some horrifying threat against humanity. Suffice it to say, I’m eager to see how it plays out and plan to watch Kyoto Saga every week.
March comes in like a lion (continuing)
Streaming on Crunchyroll March comes in like a lion feels like it was written explicitly for me. I already gushed about the show when it debuted last season in my Three-Episode Test writeup for Fall 2016, so I’ll keep my initial thoughts on its second half short and sweet.
This coming of age tale about an emotionally distraught seventeen year-old professional shogi player speaks directly to me through its bold portrayal of the crippling effects of depression. Its use of contrasting visual styles and color schemes, which complement the show’s diverse cast of realistically flawed characters, beautifully capture the broad spectrum of struggles that we, as broken humans, all face. While the abrupt tonal shifts and sometimes awkward pacing of the show’s first eleven episodes pervade the second half as well, I’m so engrossed in Rei’s personal journey that I see these shortcomings as trivial missteps rather than glaring structural flaws.
While the circumstances that led to Rei’s tortured mental state in no way mirror my own, the way in which it informs his lifestyle, actions, and relationships with others does to a uncanny degree. It’s certainly not a show for everyone, but as someone who can relate to March comes in like a lion’s troubled protagonist and his desperate struggle to keep from drowning in an ocean of fear and self-doubt, I’m committed to seeing this emotionally exhausting 22-episode journey through to the end.
Yowamushi Pedal New Generation (sequel)
Streaming on Crunchyroll Despite having no interest in real-world cycling, Yowamushi Pedal is far and away my favorite sports anime. Its humble and endearing otaku protagonist Onoda is one of the many reasons this show holds such a special place in my heart, and I’ve been eager to see his story continue after witnessing the climactic finale of Grande Road.
Now that the inter-high is over and the school year is quickly coming to a close, a lot of changes are in store for the bicycle club of Sohoku High. The club’s senior climber, Makashima, parted ways with the team prematurely, which understandably dampens the spirits of Onoda, who looked up to his fellow climber as a mentor and friend. Additionally, second-year teammate Teshima has been made captain in preparation for the departure of the team’s other two seniors.
I was admittedly a bit concerned the show might suffer from a drastic shift in focus under the weight of all these changes, but I’m relieved and pleased to find that New Generation (so far) retains what I love about this series and feels very much like an extension of the previous two seasons. I’m excited to see how Teshima’s role as captain will change dynamics of the club as well as how his childhood friend, who is now the ace at Sohoku’s rival school Hakone Academy, adds some dramatic tension in the episodes to come. I look forward to catching each new episode as soon it arrives every Monday afternoon.
originally appeared on Ani-Gamers on January 26, 2017 at 5:00 PM.

hii i actually went and drew more wrestling AU (i also made the tag "#yowamushi wrestling" if anyone wants to look at all my AU art altogether haha)
i based them on irl wrestlers again so, notes under the cut!
imaizumi is based on ZSJ, originally only bc he's also a long(tall) boy, but then i remembred hes also an "elite" loll
he has great technical wrestling skills sort of like how imaizumi has great control over his gears ! [delusional]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
naruko is based on tiger mask (duh!)
Tumblr media
onoda is based on chip punk and space monkey! its said that newer wrestlers start out wearing animal masks since your costume does the heavy lifting for your characterization ^^
his second outfit is supposed to resemble the manyu he collects :'D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
bonus notes:
naruko's wrestling style is mostly brawling and kicking
imaizumi/tadokoro tells him to also practice high flying, and since he has a small frame it would be easier for him
"wouldnt a brawler who could also jump from the top rope be super cool?" (you get the point, im bad at writing)
imaizumi is still an all-rounder: does both grappling and highflying, and also brawling i suppose

wrestling AU 🤼 entrance outfits + title belt wearing style
bonus pics & lots of writing under the cut
bonus real colours:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and here are my thoughts on how they feel about their championship belts
fukutomi: respects the belt, mostly wears it around his waist (since its traditional) wears it on the shoulder if he's in a hurry. never wears it in a disrespectful way
arakita: somewhat respects the belt (because fukutomi tells him its important) wears it around his neck since its cool. sometimes wears it around his waist if its an important event. wears it "however he likes" but will never be completely disrespectful (will not let it drag on the floor)
shinkai: mostly respects the belt, wears it on his shoulder in case he needs to start fighting right away. used to hold the end of the belt in his mouth sometimes. will only wear it around his waist if fukutomi asks him to
Tumblr media
toudou: respects the belt, but will never let it ruin his outfit ! so for that reason he will not wear it around his waist. is often just holding the belt in his hands. knows a lot of good poses while holding it, but will also never let it touch the ground
they're not here but izumida used to just copy however shinkai wears it. after he becomes the faction leader he switches to wearing it around his waist. manami lets his title belt drag on the ground and forgets it backstage too often. forgets slightly less after his first year in the faction.
in the event of 2 belts
fukutomi: one around the waist, one on his shoulder arakita: john cena scarf style hahaha shinkai: one on each shoulder toudou: im sorry but i cant see him with 2 belts 💀 maybe he has a valet carry them for him
arakita having two belts is only possible when he has one of the tag team titles and wins the hardcore championship off of someone this is a very infrequent event
i can only see toudou aiming for the crusierweight title

drew hakogaku as pro wrestlers 🤼 :]
i based a bunch of them off irl wrestlers (and drew over their pictures lol), i'll put my thoughts below the cut
fukutomi is based on okada
it's the bleached hair and the silly goofy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
izumida is based on cesaro
one of the strongest wrestlers pound for pound, the swiss superman ^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
toudou is based on tyler breeze (persona ONLY, not his moveset)
he was the only pretty boy i would remember in the moment sorry
Tumblr media Tumblr media
arakita is based on dean ambrose/jon moxley
stinky
and actually now that i think about it, arakita would probably wrestle with a shirt on i think
Tumblr media Tumblr media
manami and shinkai aren't based on any single wrestler in particular
manami maybe is a mix of ricochet and other high flyers, also i think manami would also be a masked wrestler or toudou convinces him to become one so manami isn't copying his style hahaha
Tumblr media
shinkai's mask is mainly inspired by jushin liger and el desperado
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway thanks for reading, i have some more thoughts but i'll save them for next time haha
