Summer Nights (Nick Furcillo)
Preview:  Another tap. And another. You raised a shaky hand to peel the blinds apart, just enough for you to peek out.

This summer was going to be the best summer of your life. There was no way anything was going to ruin it. You had managed to snag the dream job of anyone your age who was begging for a little bit of freedom from home. A camp counselor.
That’s right. Your summer was gonna be spent chasing sweaty pre-teens, fixing bee stings and splinters, and putting aloe on sunburns. But on top of that you were going to get to hike, and kayak around an island, and spend nights singing campfire songs. All while away from the real world, away from the stress of friends, of family, of school.
Your main stressors were the middle school arguments you had to be the mediator for. Emma was little to no help with it, instead instigating said fights by helping spread rumors for a little bit of ‘entertainment’. You could almost hear her voice, “I can’t wait to tell the boys about this”, while you were busy consoling campers over their week-long relationship.
 You threw your tray down on the table, another night of soggy meat and limp veggies. Camp food was never good, almost always big pots of some kind of slop and frozen vegetables. Nutritionally balanced was a goddamn lie. Emma sat down next to you, giggling and smiling at Jacob who took the bench across from her.
“Oh, Jacob,” She laughed, covering her mouth. “You are hilarious!”
You rolled your eyes. Even if they wanted to deny their relationship, say they were friends or hate each other, there was no doubting that something was happening. Of course, you knew, with the amount of times she woke you up to sneak out to the docks with him, there would be no way you didn’t know.
Their conversation turned into background noise as your eyes caught someone walking towards your table. It was like something out of a movie, things moving in slow motion. Tight jeans hugged long, slender legs, a skinny waist hidden by a baggy t-shirt. Puppy dog eyes shining.
Nick smiled and greeted you as he sat down with his food. Dylan, Kaitlyn, and Ryan sat down soon after, all beginning to chat with each other as they choked down the ‘food’. You joined in the conversation, listening to Dylan spit out some pretty good one-liners, and caught the way Ryan looked at him while he did. You listened as they made the plans for a campfire, something fun for the end of the week. The plan was for everyone to meet by the lakeside for the bonfire on the beach and roast marshmallows and make smores with the campers. Maybe someone would bring a guitar or some spooky stories.
Soon dinner came to an end. Nick grabbed your tray before you even had a chance to react. “I’m on cleaning duty this evening.” He smiled. “I’ll still see you at the campfire tonight though, right?”
“Oh!” You smiled back, hoping the flush of your face wasn’t horribly obvious. “Of course, I-I will definitely see you tonight.” You nodded and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
Emma had already begun collecting the campers when you made your way to the table. She was helping the campers stack plates and trying to rush them to get to the showers as fast as possible.
You and Emma led the campers back to the cabin to grab shower caddies and made your way to the bathroom. Emma groaned as you guys walked into the bathroom. It reeked of bleach and mildew, and a mild stink of wet dog for some unknown reason. The floor was stained with years of mud and perpetually wet. The lights flickered and some of the shower curtains on the stalls were beginning to turn black on the bottom from all the moisture.
“All right campers! Each of you have… 6 minutes to shower!” Emma announced. “Save the hot water for everyone, please. I cannot take another ice bath tonight.” She rolled her eyes. You both made quick work of turning on the showers and assigning campers to each one to try and minimize the amount of time wasted.
“So, you excited for the bonfire tonight?” Emma questioned as she picked at her nails. “Gonna flirt with your boy toy?” She whispered, nudging you slightly.
“He’s not my boy toy!” You shook your head. Sure, you had a slight crush on Nick. He made your heart flutter, your cheeks get hot, your hands clammy. But it was only a slight crush… Right?
Emma hummed. “That’s right. You won’t make a move.” She laughed. “Can’t be yours if you won’t stake the claim.”
You rolled your eyes. “I’ll do it when I’m good and ready. We don’t even know if he likes me back.” You watched as two of the girls began trading body washes and combing each other's hair in the dirt stained mirrors.
When it was your turn to shower, you found yourself thinking about what Emma had said. Did she know something you didn’t? You let the cold water run over your skin for a little bit longer, washing any leftover soap off. You sighed as you turned the shower off and quickly got dressed, pulling pajamas over your still wet skin.
You trudged back to the cabin with the campers, listening to them chatter about how excited they were for the bonfire and to see ‘Counselor Dylannnnn’. You had a good giggle with Emma about the crushes the campers had on the counselors while everyone cleaned up their bunks and finished getting ready.
After a while, you guys finally left the cabin and began the short hike to the beach. The campers squealed and ran off the second they saw the glow of the fire and joined their friends on the blankets set up on the beach. Jacob and Ryan were throwing more kindling on the fire while Nick was helping a younger camper zip their jacket. Your heart ached at the sight.
“Good with kids.” Emma teased as she pushed by you. “We’re here!” She called out.
Nick looked up at the call and smiled when he spotted you. The kid he was helping ran off as soon as his jacket was zipped. “Y/N!” He waved. “Come sit.”
You made your way over, taking in the smell of the fire before sitting on the log next to Nick. You could hear giggles of the campers just a few feet away on the shore, a few of them dipping their toes in which landed them a scolding from Ryan.
You guys sat in silence for a while, watching as everyone chilled out and played around as the sun went down. You kept your eyes on the fire, the flames warming your face. It was almost perfect. That was, until Dylan and Kaitlyn approached.
“We have S’MORES!” Dylan shouted, holding up some bags. The campers cheered and raced over, trying to grab at the ingredients to make the sweets. “Woah, woah, one at a time, ya little goblins!” He laughed.
“We need a line!” Kaitlyn called out. “And for you guys to be safe, and smart, about the marshmallows and fire!”
You helped the kids place the marshmallows on the ends of (mostly clean) sticks and showed them how to roast the perfect marshmallow. Kaitlyn was trying to avoid burns at all costs, even if that meant physically pulling kids back from the fire. Jacob and Emma had disappeared, no doubt off into the bushes somewhere to make out and baby talk to each other.
Once all the kids had their fill of s’mores, the counselors decided to make a few of their own. You had a weak spot for the gooey goodness of a charred marshmallow and melted chocolate. You ate your treat while Ryan began the scary campfire stories to the kids.
“Hey,” a voice sounded in your ear. You turned your head and came face to face with Nick. “You got a little, uh…” He motioned to his own cheek. You felt your face heat up in embarrassment. Food on your face? What were you? 4? “Let me.”
He lifted a hand to your face, gently rubbing the chocolate off the corner of your mouth with his thumb. “Beautiful.” He smiled before popping the thumb in his mouth and sucking the chocolate off. “And tasty.”
You were praying that only you could hear the pounding in your ears. And that the fire could be to blame on how hot and red your face was. You could hear the teasing from Emma already.
“T-thanks.” You weren’t sure if you should thank him. He had just indirectly licked chocolate off your face. Kaitlyn winked at you from her spot next to Ryan when you looked back over. What was happening?
The rest of the bonfire went by like a blur. Your mind was too focused on Nick to even somewhat focus on the story Ryan was telling. Something about a hag of the campsite? Who even knows.
Now here you are, in your uncomfortable cabin bed, with your hands crossed over your tummy as you stared up at the ceiling. Your mind was racing, thinking about anything and everything. Did Nick like you? Was this some long con joke from everyone? You wanted to scream into your pillow but couldn’t risk waking any of the campers.
A tap on your window nearly made you risk that. You whipped your head to the side and stared at the window, crappy plastic blinds were the only thing keeping whatever the hell that was from seeing you. Another tap. And another. You raised a shaky hand to peel the blinds apart, just enough for you to peek out.
And there he was. Nick. Dressed in a pair of pajamas and with messy bed head, looking as cute as ever. He smiled at you, his flashlight pointed down. He motioned for you to join him. You rolled out of bed and trudged over to Emma, poking her until she acknowledged you.
“Nick, I know.” She groaned. “Go, I got this.” She waved you off.
You nodded even though she couldn’t see you in the almost pitch black darkness of the cabin. You slipped on your shoes and quietly left the cabin, the door creaking shut. You took a deep breath and walked down the steps to meet Nick.
“Hey,” He greeted. “I hope I didn’t wake you.” He rubbed a hand over the back of his neck. “Thinking about it now, maybe coming to ask you to go for a walk with me in the middle of the night wasn’t the best idea.”
You giggled. “It’s okay, I couldn’t fall asleep anyway.” The two of you began walking out of the campsite and onto one of the trails. Conversation flowed naturally, ranging from home life to the possibility of aliens invading the planet.
You two came to a clearing, the open night sky glimmering above you. Thousands of bright stars littered the sky and you sighed at the serenity of it. You and Nick sat on a fallen log, both admiring the sky. Crickets sounded in the grass around you.
“It’s beautiful.” Nick whispered.
You hummed in agreement. A cool breeze tickled your skin and you shivered, goosebumps raising on your arms. You wrapped your arms around yourself, rubbing your hands up and down in an attempt to create some sort of warmth.
“Oh,” Nick noticed. “Here,” He slid his jacket off and helped you into it. The warmth instantly sent butterflies to your stomach. The scent of Nick filled your nose and that alone made your cheeks hot. “Is that better?”
“Yes, thank you.” You curled into the jacket, letting the warmth hug you. You both sat in a comfortable silence for a while before you noticed Nick had gotten closer to you. His thigh brushed yours, causing you to look over.
“Is this okay?”
You smiled and nodded. “Yeah, this is okay.” You scooched a little closer, your legs now pressed together. You had begun to feel a little more brave and decided to rest your head on his shoulder, staring out at the view. You could hear Nick’s heart beat through the crickets, the sound pounding against your ear. “Hey, Nick?” You questioned softly.
“Yeah?” He responded, resting his head on yours for a second.
You stayed silent for a few seconds, enjoying the moment. You wanted to soak this up before you possibly ruined the entire friendship. “How do you feel about me?”
Nick gently shifted, adjusting to sit somewhat facing you. “How do you think I feel about you?”
“I asked first.”
Nick stared at you for a second before lifting a hand and brushing your hair back. His hand came to rest under your chin. “I think that you are one of the most beautiful things here… And in the short time we have known each other I find my heart pounding and hands sweaty whenever you’re around. Is that gross?” He questioned. “Y/N, I feel like I have a middle school crush when I’m around you.”
You smiled and leaned in, catching Nick in a sudden kiss. He tensed up at first and then soon melted into the kiss, hands reaching around to your back to pull you closer to his body. His hands sprawled across your back, fingers digging into the soft fabric of the jacket. He deepened the kiss, tongue poking your bottom lip.
You smiled against his mouth and opened up, allowing him to pull you in. Your hands came to rest on his chest, feeling the muscle under the thin shirt he had on. You kissed each other slowly, exploring each other's mouths and testing the waters with what the other person liked.
After a bit, you both pulled away. Nick’s lips were shiny, pink, and slightly swollen. He looked even more kissable than before. He had an almost drunken smile on his face. He leaned forward again, this time resting your foreheads together.
“After camp, after summer is over, I’d love to take you on a real date. Restaurant, flowers, everything. What do you say?” He whispered.
“I’d be stupid to say no.”

Ok so this idea came to me in a dream lmao. Reader is the long term S/O of mafiafell Sans and is hanging out in Grillbys with him and the rest of the fam. Reader is usually very quiet and soft spoken. A fight breaks out in the whole bar for whatever reason and reader just tells "BOYS!" The whole bar freezes and reader proceeds to scold everyone like a bunch of rowdy kids and everyone is so shocked by their outburst that they just listen and do as they're told lol. I hope this isn't too specific
This is very much something I would write! Mafia boys and a sassy reader? Yes please.
You were used to the noise and ruckus. No songbird lasted long in the entertainment industry if she couldn’t tolerate a smoky room full of jeering, drunken men. But this was a special occasion and all the hollerin’ was going to give you a headache if it didn’t stop. In hopes of catching a reprieve, you excused yourself to go to the ladies room to powder your nose and fix your lipstick. Sans, your darling man, who was usually a skeleton of few words, didn’t even notice you leave, so caught up in bickering with his brother and the barkeep. Staring into your reflection and fixing your hair, you decided that perhaps dinner out with the whole family wasn’t your best suggestion, but Sansy always looked so damn sad when he talked about his brother and father and how he’d never live up to their expectations.
Boozing it up was forbidden around you for that very reason as well. He was the melancholic sort of drunk that in the same breath that he told you how beautiful you were and how he loved ya more than the world itself...would lament how he was an utter failure and too broken to be worthy of anyone’s affection. A stark contrast to the quietly confident casanova he was when sober, all swagger and expensive cigars caught between sharp teeth. He was everything a gal knew not to get mixed up with—too much money and power and flash to not have blood on his hands. But by the Angel, he knew how to treat a lady, and unlike most gents, he was never too pushy when vying for your attention all those short months ago.
With a deep inhale, you pushed from the sink and strutted your way back into the bar. The place was still filled with everyone trying to talk over everyone else, and honestly, you were a little sick of it. You wanted a nice night with the family and you were going to get it. Chin jutted high, you marched your way to the bar, sat primly on a stool, and raised your voice in a manner that you never did in polite company.
"BOYS!”
You were a singer, not a heathen, manners were important and a lady didn't shout. Which was likely why the whole of the bar fell quiet at your uncharacteristic display. Before anyone could recover, you poked a finger in Papyrus’ moody face.
“You. Be nicer to your brother. And if you call me a floozy one more time you will be wearing my drink.” Whirling, you scolded Grillby for instigating an argument over protection fees of all things during your nice little family outing. When you rounded on Gaster, the Don stared back at you with an arched browbone, hands folded, mouth quirked up in an amused smile. “You know what you did.” Gaster winked. You sighed. Sans promptly pulled you into his lap.
“easy kitten.”
"And you!” He blinked as you turned in his lap. “Stop letting them get to you. You’re smarter than that, bonehead.” With a kiss to his cheek, you gave the boys your brightest smile.

Fire in my Blood ~ Jasper Hale x OC ~ Book One - Chapter One
Masterlist
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
I had never given much thought as to how I would die, I expected it could be for some stupid accident or some kind of murder or something, I had hoped I would live to 102 and pass away in my sleep peacefully and without struggle, but if you told me I would die the week before my 18th birthday because I was being hunted by monsters that belong only in storybooks, I would have called you insane.
Forks, Washington was one of the coldest, rainiest places in all of the world as Alessia knew it, but she loved it. It was her home and it was where her friends and father were. After her parent’s messy divorce her mother Renée moved south with Alessia’s little sister Isabella to Phoenix, Arizona while she stayed with her father Charlie. Alessia adored her father and spent her childhood years following him around like a puppy (to the point where family friend Billy Black had nicknamed her “The little shadow”). She had a happy childhood with her friends Jacob and his pack of boys down at the reserve and it was often that her father had to come wrangle her out of some form of trouble that she had no doubt instigated.
Alessia’s favorite time of year, however, was when her baby sister came to visit them for the summer holidays. Alessia would spend two weeks getting a sunburn in Arizona sitting in front of a tv while her mother bought them little cakes and treats from some bakery for desert every night and she never failed to stick herself with a cactus needle at least once every trip. And as soon as those two weeks were up the summer dresses and shorts were traded for sturdy boots and rain jackets as Alessia dragged Bella through the forest surrounding their home for the next month, expertly weaving through the trees to get to the fort she had built with her father out of branches and slats of wood.
Getting older was what separated the sisters, who as children were thick as thieves. Bella grew to resent the time spent in the rain and cold and longed to spend more time in Phoenix with their mom and her friends, and while Alessia was still extended the invitation to stay with her mother and sister every year she couldn’t help but begin to pull away from that part of her life, the closer she grew with her father the more she began to feel like a stranger with her mother. Funny stories about her and her father’s antics that were mentioned at the dinner table caused her mother to stiffen and made the air uncomfortable, and the longer that Alessia spent in Arizona the more desperately homesick she grew for Forks. It was mutually decided, however, that Alessia would not come to Phoenix as often when her mother got a new boyfriend. Phil was nice and all, but she did not feel the same sense of comfort around her mother and sister, and her status as a stranger was reinforced to a degree that by the age of 13 Alessia stopped going altogether.
But she was happy, anyone who met her could see that. She enjoyed watching football with her father, Billy, and Jacob. She loved having bonfires on the beach with her boys and sharing scary stories only to spend the evening hiding from each other and scaring each other. She was silly and goofy but she was serious where it mattered, like letting her friend Leah run with her pack of boys on the threat that she would ignore them until they stopped being mean and let her play. She was kind and loving, meeting her friend Jessica in middle school and being her number one supporter, punching anyone who dared make fun of her insecure friend because she was so intelligent.
As she grew up Alessia grew extremely beautiful, but not in a conventional way, she didn’t remind people of the models in all of the magazines that Jessica would show her. She was beautiful in the way the woods were at sunset with the light shooting through the trees. She was strong and smart and pretty and caring, but she was also loud, opinionated, funny, sassy and quite honestly, she was wild. She had inherited her father’s brown hair and brown eyes, but there was something so uniquely ‘Alessia’ about her appearance.
Her freshman year of high school went much smoother than the movies would have you believe for Alessia. Her grades were good, and they were well maintained by letting Jessica tutor her because “Being a tutor would make me look good on my college applications Alessia!”. And while Forks football team didn’t enter many leagues (and lost all the ones that they did enter) Alessia managed to convince the faculty to let the girls who didn’t want to be on the volleyball team organize their own cheer squad for both teams, her argument being that if there were people cheering the teams on they might actually start winning.
Sophomore year was infinitely more interesting with the addition of five more students to their tiny school.  The Cullen’s were extremely interesting additions to Alessia’s life. In her own year, the three elder students joined her classes, Emmet Cullen who was funny and nice was her partner for English class its it was a wonder they got anything done at all with their running jokes about Mr. Mason and their literary texts as a whole. Emmet’s girlfriend was Rosalie Hale who was extremely beautiful but smart as a whip, she was strangely cold towards Alessia at the beginning of the year but eventually began to warm up to her at the request of Emmet (“she really isn’t all that bad Rose”) and with two new friends in her classes Alessia couldn’t be happier. It was the third sibling who was in her history class that threw her for a loop.
Jasper Hale was Rosalie’s twin brother and he was the only one of the group of five who wasn’t very fond of Alessia, the other two, Alice and Edward were in the year below them and they were always welcoming towards Alessia, especially Alice who greeted her every morning with a friendly hug before launching into some random topic of conversation.  But Jasper seemed to avoid her like the plague which did bother Alessia at first being that she wasn’t very used to people not liking her (her friendly demeanor often meant that people found her friendly and likeable), but after a while she grew used to it, accepting that maybe he just didn’t like her, and that was ok.
The strangest thing about the whole scenario was that while Alessia thought herself to be friends with the Cullens, it seemed that she was the only one, because according to Jessica Alessia was the only one they would entertain the thought of speaking to, let alone hang out with.
The next year is the year that everything changed, for one she began to evenly split her time between the Cullens and her other friend group consisting of Jessica, Angela, Eric, Mike, and Tyler. She would spend lunches with the Cullens and she would hang out with the others every evening after school, she spent weekends on the reserve with Jacob and Leah and the guys and her nights were spent watching sports and playing board games with her father. She was content with how her Junior year was going until March rolled around and the cold wind swept her sister back into her life and caused the hurricane that completely rearranged her world.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Early morning was officially the worst time to be alive, the cold crept through all three blankets on the bed and the hoodie that Alessia was sleeping in that night, and while the cold was never normally something that Alessia minded, 6:30 am was not the ideal time to face it. After taking a shower that seemed way too short and wrestling with her printer to get her Spanish homework for the day ahead she emerged from her room in her usual winter cheer uniform in its navy and gold colours with leggings, trainers and a yellow cardigan over top because Forks in March didn’t mess around and Alessia knew her classrooms would be freezing. Before making her way down to the kitchen she let her eyes linger to the door opposing hers, a door to a room that she had spent the last week clearing out and organizing. It was weird that Bella was coming after all this time, Alessia missed her sister but they had been apart for so long that it was like they were strangers at this point. A car horn is what brought her out of her daze as she rushed down the stairs grabbing her keys, wallet and an apple for some form of breakfast (Alessia wasn’t a breakfast person because eating food so early in the morning made her feel sick, but she knew it would stress Charlie out if she didn’t eat something) before disappearing out the door of her empty house. Her dad’s cruiser wasn’t parked in the driveway which was expected, he always left earlier than Alessia did, what was there instead was a pristine red Mercedes at the end of the driveway with the lights on and inside it sat Rosalie and Alice waiting for her. Alessia’s voice broke through the morning fog as she jogged towards the car, “you know, I should hate you for making me drive to school in a convertible in this weather” the smile that spread across Rosalie’s face matched the one on Alessia’s own as she replied, “yeah well you don’t so get in before I make you walk”.
According to Jessica arriving to school with the Cullens still managed to cause people to stare at Alessia, which she never noticed as she had been doing it for over a year now while trying to save up for a new car, that was a fact she didn’t dare share with any of her friends since when her phone decided to explode one day and stop working she told Alice that she needed a new one and the very next day Rosalie handed her an iPhone that there was no way she could afford, she still had it and took more care of that thing than she did to her own life. No way that was ever happening again. Hopping out of the side of the car after it pulled into its usual spot, she grabbed her backpack and pulled out the notes she needed to give back to Emmet from English the night before. “one of these days I wont be around to save your life you know” he spoke out with his usual mischievous look on his face, “yeah, yeah” she bounced back as she made her way across the parking lot to Tyler’s van where everyone else sat. She was immediately bombarded with everyone asking her if she was coming to the movies that evening. “sorry to disappoint but I have to go to the airport, my sister gets here today” the collective groan at her absence make her laugh as she told them not to be such babies and that she would see them with Bella the next morning, “I don’t want any of you numbskulls giving her any shit tomorrow you hear me?” she said pointing her accusing finger at the three guys in front of her, all of whom faked offence at even the notion. Their goofing off continued until the first period bell rang and Jessica and the others being a grade below her headed off to their homeroom as she headed towards APUSH.
Alessia adored history and she was highest in her class apart from Jasper. Not that she minded (she definitely minded), her teacher Mr Finch was one of her favorite people. He was a kind man in his 40s who had a genuine passion for teaching. Her seat in the back, left corner of the room was right next to the rooms only radiator which was busted but the corner gave her enough cover to be left out of sight by the teacher, she wasn’t in the mood to pay too much attention that morning considering she didn’t grab a coffee before she left the house.
The chatter of her fellow classmates played like white noise as Alessia pulled the top of her chocolate coloured hair into a hair tie and began pulling her homework out of her backpack before giving up and laying her head on the desk in front of her and groaning softly. Her early morning seemed to finally catch up with her, so much so that she did not notice the figure take up the desk beside hers until she heard him speak.
“well, don’t you just look chipper this morning” a southern voice broke through her sleepy haze and caused her mind to stop working for a second. The fact that Jasper was willing speaking to her was definitely new but Alessia was many things and a smartass was one of them. “yeah? well you know your day is off to a great start when you wake up and your first thought is, ‘no’.” she fired back at him raising her head to send a lazy smile his way. The chuckle that left him would have probably made Alessia’s knees weak if she were awake enough to comprehend it “yeah, I know the feeling”.
A smirk broke out on the 18-year old's face as her spine straightened and she looked him dead in his topaz coloured eyes. “did you just… agree with me?” Jasper immediately turned away to face the front of the room, still without a teacher, “oh I wish I could take- “, “nope! You said it! no take-backs!”.
The exasperated look that met her then forced a giggle out of her as she stuck her tongue out at him. “What? I was a very irritating child”, this was met with another chuckle but before he could give another reply Mr Finch’s voice called out as he finally entered the room and commanded all their eyes to the front of the room once more. Alessia let an uncontrollable smile grace her lips as her mind processed what just happened.
Maybe he didn’t completely despise her after all.
Thx sm, rest well and have a merry christmas and new year pd: i new request things so idk wheres the request box sorry foto that also i not good at english;(((( sorry. Hope you do it 💗💗💗💗
^.^
The madness continues:
Tumblr media
Lov of villains that make an appearance – Shigaraki, Dabi, Toga, Spinner, Kurogiri, Twice, Compress, and you!
This probably won’t make sense if you haven’t read Thanksgiving with the LOV.
Warnings: More shenanigans, Suggestive comments? Cursing and crude/dark joke ^.^ Pe dumbassery Enjoy your time with La familia! Lmaoo I just re-read the thanksgiving one  :’D. there was like five spelling errors…..
 Shigaraki had demanded that he be invited to all of your family’s future gatherings when he was sitting stuffed as a turkey on Thanksgiving the previous month. You were pleasantly surprised that your last gathering went semi-smoothly… If you ignore that your uncle was streaking over to the neighbor’s home……
“Are we still on for tonight.” Your boss had asked from his spot on the couch. You really hated him sometimes you thought as everyone’s eyes were on you once more. “Yes (Name) are you still on for tonight? And are we allowed to know what you’re going to be on for.” Spinner sassed. “It’s obviously her family’s Christmas gathering.” Toga pouted.
“I was already invited.” Dabi grinned. “Someone told me it was going to be lame and, to come over an entertain them.” Your eyes quickly met the burnt man’s eye. “Dabi I fucking swear! If she ends up pregnant the kid won’t have a father.” You threatened. “Jealous?” He teased. You flipped him off “Like hell I am. I just don’t want to be related o your crispy ass.” “Oof! Want some ice for that burn!” Twice chimed.
Dabi rolled his eyes and was about to speak when Spinner cut him off. “Your cousin invited me over as well.” A slow smirk stretched your lips. “Did he now?” You saw his scales redden. “T-to talk more and s-stuff.” “Can I be invited too!” Toga grinned. “If she goes I’m going too! Invite me please!!” Twice chimed. You sighed they were really doing this to you again. Your eyes landed on a masked Mr. Compress in silent questioning only for him to pull out his phone.
‘Hello Darlington I do hopeth youll come over to spend time with os on x-mas’ Why the fuck were you surrounded by idiots. The atrocious text made you want to facepalm with the wall… You looked to all the ratchet faces of your fellow league members and sighed. Hopefully things would run as smoothly as they did on Thanksgiving…. ‘Please, please, please let it go well’
When you arrived, you received familiar greeting ‘What the fuck took you so long?’ Wow. ‘Why are you here alone? Where’s the crusty heir?’ Crusty heir ‘Oi d-do you know if Spinner’s comin’ over?’ Hello to you too bitch… ‘You look trashy, it’s so obvious you don’t get laid.’ Says the one fucking a burnt chicken nugget… “You brought that gud Kush kiddo?’ No.. Fuck off and keep your fucking clothes on!?!
You sat there with shitty eggnog in hand waiting for the others to arrive. The sickly tree was buried under gifts leaving you confused. But since you weren’t exactly the paragon of humans you didn’t question it. You did question the choice of Christmas tree. It looked straight out of a horror movie… The first knock of the night brought to your utter joy…..Dabi.
“Ugh” You groaned wanting to shut the door in his smug face. “Play nice dollface maybe you’ll get a turn.” You wrinkled your nose in disgust. “Don’t be absurd. I’m not trying to catch an infection.” “Your loss sweet cheeks.” He sashayed inside and was promptly ignored by everyone save for your female cousin who had invited a friend as Dabi requested. You didn’t have time to comment negatively on their panned activities as the door came a knocking. With it’s opening you saw that Mr. Compress had come along with Toga and Twice.
You smiled at the trio as you invited them in. Toga pulled you into a crushing hug while you received a polite one from Mr. Compress and got spun into oblivion by Twice… “I missed you so much (Name)! No, I didn’t!” He cried. “Put me down. We saw each other yesterday!” You hissed. “Oh Mr. Sako” And it began… Your humiliation that is…..
“I’ve been awaiting you.” Your aunt grinned. She looked creepy… “And sir Korugiri? Is he not coming (Name)?” She asked pulling away a smirking Compress. “Sir Kurogiri?” Toga repeated. “He likes milfs” Twice informed. “……I… I seriously didn’t know you knew that word….” You mumbled. “It’s okay (Name)-Chan there’s a lot that we don’t know about Twice!!” Toga chimed. ‘o.O Like what??’ You thought.
Spinner came knocking next he was swiped away by your cousin who disregarded tradition and handed him a nicely wrapped gift. “The lizard doesn’t get to open presents first!” Your uncle hollered. “Shut the fuck up he can do whatever he wants.” Your cousin shouted back. “Oh, can he now! You’re just trying to get double dipped you whore!” He yelled back at your male cousin. Toga grinned turning her attention to the escalating drama. Twice began to eagerly instigate both sides. “You tell that lizard fucker!! Spinner is a good boy!!”
You groaned in frustration. “Ma tell your fucking brother something!!” He yelled his face beyond flustered at being outted in front of his crush. Sadly, he was promptly ignored as your aunt was lost in the kitchen boasting about how marvelous of a cook, she was to Mr. Compress. The argument persisted and you thought things couldn’t get any worse. Sadly your thoughts jinxed it and, you received background music…..
The lewd sounds bled through the thin walls of the apartment and stopped everyone’s bickering. “The fucking slut.” Your uncle scowled. “Right!?! She can’t keep her pussy dry.” Your male cousin agreed. “It’s not like our comrade is any better he’s always trying to get his dick wet.” Spinner grumbled in embarrassment. “A bunch of nasty fucks they are.” Your uncle frowned lighting a blunt.
“Not inside!” You hissed. He only shrugged and passed it over to your cousin who passed it to Spinner. “Fucking pot heads” You groaned. As they smoked you noticed that Toga and Twice had moved to help your aunt set the table. Your smile at the nice scene was ruined by your uncle who stood a top the coffee table “We should all sing Christmas carols!! Come on sing with me Jingle bells! My crack sells! Fuck yo bitch today!” He screeched like a newly made Jurassic park movie.
It was a miracle you heard the door and you debated on opening it. It could be the police, or worse, your boss. For some reason you didn’t want him to see or hear what was going on. But you knew if you left him outside he’d get pissed. And he’s very no fun when he’s pissed….. You did a once over of the living room your uncle in his drawers singing about ‘open legged hoes’ Spinner and your cousin gazing into each other’s eyes. When you looked to the side you could hear your aunt ‘flirting’ with Mr. Compress. Toga and Twice were well behaved. But, the worse part of it all was the noises coming from your female cousin’s room.
Dabi’s hedonistic ass was having the time of his life probably high as a kite as he indulged himself. In your family’s house no less. When you opened the door, you felt your cheeks grow warm. Shigarkai was once again in a fitted suit but his hair was slicked back out of his face. There was a slight smile on his scarred lips as he handed you a ‘polite’ gift of assorted cheese. The cute rat was probably proud of himself for remembering to bring a gift. Your NEET boss looked nice……. Too nice…..
As soon as they passed the threshold your aunt came running to kiss some ass. “Oh, my how handsome” she gushed not questioning his four fingered hand shake. You elbowed you in the rib “Doesn’t he look great (Name).” You rolled your eyes at her insinuation. “Look he’s even brought gifts how thoughtful” She beamed. “Sir Kurogiri how lovely it is to see you again.” She hummed looping her arm with his to drag him away. “Sir…?” Shigaraki mumbled. “Don’t question it.” You sighed.
“Sorry in advance.” You apologized as a loud moan cut through the air. “I see Dabi was here early.” He muttered walking over to the kitchen table. You followed along noticing the look your aunt gave you. You knew exactly what it meant. ‘Get yourself that man (Name)! If you don’t land someone with money, you’ll end up like me! Do you want to end up like me!’ You rolled your eyes at her and she narrowed hers at you while maintaining ‘polite’ chit chat with the ‘wealthy suitors’.
When dinner was called Shigaraki quickly took his seat beside you. He had come for the food. When skewed up words of thanks were given you all dove in. Except for Dabi, your cousin and her friend of course. They had their own meal you supposed. That just meant there was more for all of you and Shigaraki wasn’t about to complain… Speaking of which the bag of bones that was your boss could seriously put away!
“I see your ward really enjoys food.” Your aunt began. “(Name) here isn’t so bad herself.” She hinted. You caught Shigaraki’s side eyed gaze and sighed in embarrassment. Your aunt took it as some sign that he was interested. But you knew your boss that was the look of something else. And you soon found out what if meant when he leaned over you his finger wiping away food debris from your lips. “You never told me you knew how to cook.” He drawled. You knew where this was going, and you grimaced. “I’m not gonna make you food.” You grumbled only to yelp at the kick you received from your ‘innocent’ aunt.
“Don’t you guys think it could be nice if (Name) could treat us to a home cooked meal every so often.” He asked the present members who all jumped at the thought. You were met with a chorus of agreement. ‘Great not only do I have to do my missions and worry about not dying or getting arrested but now I have to cook for these idiots.’  But when you saw the excited looks on their faces you sighed. ‘It’s not like it’s too much trouble.’ You figured they deserved it, the budget was low, and you knew some of them went without a proper meal for days. Maybe you could commit yourself to doing this...
You guys sat down in the living room drinking eggnog and eating cookies. You couldn’t help but think of how well it ended. A bit bumpy but still nice. And as you saw your cousin kiss spinner on the cheek you smiled. ‘Yeah still nice.’ Toga and Twice were glued to the hallmark movie on the screen as Mr. Compress, Kurogiri and your aunt spoke of nothing. Shigaraki had fallen asleep beside you on the couch his head resting on your shoulder as you tried to dust the cookie crumbs off his suit. Your uncle lay passed out underneath various Christmas wrappers. It was nice.
You spoke to soon, the door to your cousin’s room slammed open startling everyone in the room. Out of it came your cousin’s friend who yelled and screamed. His hair was set ablaze and, your female cousin shouted for someone to put him out. No one moved an inch ignoring the spectacle. When she finally managed to put him out, they were gone. Half-nude and everything. She did yell something about taking him to the hospital…… At this point you were just too tired to care…….
You shot the burnt man a glare when he nudged you over to sit on the couch. “Why the fuck did you set him on fire.” You hissed. Only to be shushed by the movie watchers. “The bastard came inside.” He grumbled. You wished you hadn’t asked…….. Shiragaki stirred and muttered “New year’s too.” You sighed in frustration. Knowing that he wasn’t the only one coming over....
Darkest Hour
I’m never sure where to start about my father. He’s a tall man, six foot one. Silent and solemn if he’s not angry. Alcoholic. Smoked on and off. Ex military. Easy to anger. Scary when angry. Played favorites with me and my brothers. He praised David but was clinical with him. He chose to spend time with me because I was quiet and, if something went wrong, it was Eli’s fault. Always. That’s how I would describe him.
I hid under my older brothers and never saw my father’s wrath because I was the baby. Most of our time spent together was watching TV or quiet board games. He taught me dominoes during a snowstorm, chess in the fall and even mahjong, something he picked up in his army days. I don’t know if he liked me the best, it was obvious he was the most proud of David, but I spent the most time with him. So… I knew. It didn’t surprise me when it finally came to.
Dad liked to drink and when he drank he was easier to set off. He took it out a lot on the twins and my mom by blaming them for things out of our control. Sometimes the cops were called because the screaming was so loud, especially since Eli would instigate out of confused anger. So, I think to ease things with everybody, Dad used to take long camping trips with his old war buddy, Adam. I don’t know how long they knew each other, my mom made it seem like longer than she knew him. But whatever happened to dad’s eye Adam was there for.
I noticed… Their body language with each other. The way Adam would laugh whenever Dad made a joke. The way Adam was the only one who made Dad crack a smile. They whispered to each other when Mom wasn’t in the room a lot. Adam was always there when the family needed him. If Eli got into a fight at school he would ease it over, if we needed new school clothes Adam would take us, if my mom started considering more shifts at the diner Adam would hand her envelopes with cash. He always helped with Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays… In a lot of ways Adam was like our uncle but… Brothers don’t act like Dad and he did. I’m not sure if anybody noticed that but me.
I was 11 when it happened. My brothers had just turned 14. Late June of 2000. The twins were interested in completing video games and enjoying summer. I was noticing both David and Eli’s shifts into becoming teenagers and not kids at that point. My relationship with my brothers was reaching this turning point and being the baby felt like it meant being left behind.
Mom was trying to do some deep cleaning in her bedroom, looking for an old pocket knife she promised Eli. She never found it. She did, however, find old letters in a cookie tin. Some were dated two years ago at the time. Some way back to the mid 80’s. I remember her crying so much that afternoon and Eli sitting with her trying to figure out what was wrong but, all she could muster was “your father has some explaining to do.” Dad was supposed to go on one of his trips with Adam that evening. So, maybe it was fate but I think there was never a knife to begin with.
David and I were taking turns at the Playstation by this point. I had the gist of the game down and pointed out a strategy Eli hadn’t thought of. So, while he was in the other room comforting our mom, we just tried to keep out of it.
I looked over to my brother, “Do you know what those letters said?”
He shook his head as I made my next move on the TV.
“I think Dad is seeing somebody.” I said this quietly, just throwing the idea out there in the open.
“Yeah?” David’s face scrunched up with a mixture of worry and doubt, “Do you think they’ll divorce? Then we’ll get split up?”
I paused and sighed, looking over at him, “Maybe.”
There was a long silence as we both stared at the television. This wasn’t the first, or last, time our father made Mom cry like this.
David spoke up quietly, “I just wish he didn’t put me on the spot and make all of you feel bad. Sometimes I think about being bad at school so Eli would feel better but whenever I fuck up he still compares us.”
I could feel my face sagging with sadness, “Sometimes... I feel bad that he only likes spending time with me because I’m so quiet. I’m afraid if he leaves he’ll split me from you two.”
David looked me dead in the eye, “I’ll never let that happen. Okay? I promise. None of us will ever be split up. We’re all in this together.”
I nodded.
“I taped some old Nitro if you just wanna watch something.” My brother tried to force a smile.
I shrugged and we screwed around with the TV to get the Playstation unplugged and the VCR hooked up. David started to rewind the tape and as I put the game console back into the entertainment cabinet, my mom came out into the livingroom, “David? Caleb? Do you know where you put your baseball bat?”
We both looked at each other with worry and I stammered, “Um, I left it out on the back patio last week.”
“Okay. Well... It’s almost time for your father to come home. I want the three of you to stay inside. Promise me, okay?”
We back at each other and nodded as Mom left through the back door from the kitchen. Eli came out of the hallway shortly after, looking around, “Mom went outside?”
I nodded.
“You might wanna turn off wrestling, something better is about to go down.”
I reached over and turned off the VCR player, watching Eli get on the couch and peek out the window it was sitting up against, kneeling low. David murmured, furrowing his brow, “What’s going on?”
“Come and watch.” he grinned, biting his lower lip in anticipation.
We both got up on the couch and peeked out of the beige and red checkered curtains, catching a glimpse of our mom standing in the driveway with a louisville slugger.
David squinted, “What the hell is going on?”
“Dad’s cheating on Mom. Those letters were filthy but I could only read what mom left on the table when she wasn’t looking. It was like something out of Playboy. And she packed bags for all of us except him. She purposefully unpacked his shit for his trip this weekend.”
My oldest brother looked over at me and we exchanged looks.
Eli glanced beside himself, “You knew?”
I shrugged.
He frowned and went back to looking out the window, “Help me open this real quiet.”
The three of us gently cracked open the front window, hoping to hear whatever argument was about to ensue.
About five minutes passed and I let out almost a whimper, “I hope nobody gets hurt.”
“Shut up.”
Eventually, The sound of crunching gravel in the driveway and the hum of a Chevy Silverado slowly came into earshot. One by one we turned around quickly, afraid to be seen peeking from the curtains.
“Did you see-”
“Yes.” David whispered.
I reached out and I held my older brother’s hand. Both of us went into a cold sweat hearing the truck turn off. I mouthed “Don’t let him, please.” and my brother nodded, chewing on his cheek.
The car door popped open, “What’s wrong?” It was my father.
“Why don’t you tell me that, Huh? What the fuck is wrong? You wanna tell me?”
Another car door opened, “Janet.” Uncle Adam.
A hiss from gritted teeth escaped from my mom’s lips, “Oh. You stay the fuck away from me you cocksucker.”
“Let’s just talk about this like adults, alright?” There’s no reason to bring out a bat.”
“Oh. But it’s fine to throw bottles at me? Huh? Or threaten to stab your own son?”
I opened my eyes and caught Eli wincing. David whispered he was going to bring our luggage into the living room and got up, clearing his throat.
“Does he tell you about that Adam, huh, when he’s fucking your ass in the woods?”
“Janet!”
Eli let out this noise that was halfway between a snort and a gasp.
“Dad’s gay?” David whispered, dropping all four suitcases.
His twin slowly tried to take a peek at the backpedaling going on outside, “That doesn’t even make sense. But-” He slid back down into the couch, “Maybe that’s why he hates us so much. We’re not family to him.”
“Just a cover.” David finished.
“Let me just take my shit and go. Nobody has to get hurt, Okay?”
“Oh! That’s how you think it’s gonna go? I’m just gonna let you pack your bags and leave? No. You are not getting into that trailer.”
”Fine I’ll jus-”
There was a loud crack, and then two male scream. We heard keys jingling and then quick stomping up the stairs. As the door slammed open our mom screamed, leaning into the house, “Boys!”
The three of us scrambled to grab our old thrift store luggage. David offered to carry Mom’s and in almost one swift motion, we were in the backseat of the truck. I’m not sure how, or where, but mom got ahold of Dad’s hunting rifle. She slung it over her back, still holding the bat as she ushered us into the car.
I never saw where Dad or Adam were during that, especially since between the luggage and the three of us it was like a clown car in the extended cab. We drove until the first stoplight in silence and then mom instructed David to take the rifle and put it under the backseat, along with the bat.
I finally spoke up, “Mom?”
“Mh.”
“D-... Did you kill dad?”
She shook her head, “No, he’ll live.”
“Where are we going?”
Eli sighed heavily.
My mom looked up into the rear mirror, “We’re going to Grandma’s, okay? It’s going to be okay.”
We eventually moved the luggage into the truck bed and Mom stopped to kiss all three of us on the head before heading back on the road. The three of us were getting to be as tall as her at this point and she commented how there will be a day where she wouldn’t reach our heads anymore. The evening set into night,and we stopped at a dirty truck stop for dinner when god knows when. Mom dug up some quarters and called her mother outside while we got back in the car. It took a few tries before somebody answered
“No Ma, He- There were letters.”
I watched Eli roll up his window so he could rest his head against it. David had been using an old jean jacket as a blanket and started to nod off.
“Please don’t do this now.”
The conversation on the phone very clearly went nowhere and was extremely short. We didn’t go to our grandmother’s.
