I don't want to go into it again, but I had an experience at the store late last week and really opened my eyes to the way things work out in the world. A part of that experience was a customer handing back a few copies of Journey into Mystery, saying he didn't have money to spend on the more "out there" titles like that.

"Out There"? You mean that book starring Loki, God of Mischief, from the Thor and Avengers movies? Ok, got it.

But that's how most shops view comics. If it's not Thor, Captain America or Iron Man's name on the book, it doesn't get ordered because that's not what people want. And then those customers don't even have a choice.

No more Iron Man 2.0. No more Cap & Bucky. No more Journey into Mystery.

Yankeeography - produced by the YES Network A&E, home of Biography. My parents got me the box set for my birthday. So far I've gone through Jeter, Posada (his son is adorable) and Tino Martinez. Once upon a time I wanted to play first base, half because of my grandpa (who was left handed so he had a better reach [I'm right handed), half because of Don Mattingly (because I got a baseball with his face on it from Burger King the night that I went to my first Yankees game) and half because of Tino Martinez. Good math right there.

Coke & Peanuts - I had read about this Southern tradition in the Secret Life of Bees when I was a freshman in college, but having grown up in Greensboro I'd never seen anyone actually do it. Enter Jody, who picked up on the habit while living in Mississippi. Ooohhh, I wasn't far enough South! But I tried it on Saturday and now I'm hooked! I'm drinking one right now!

"Call Me Maybe" Carly Rae Jepsen - been stuck in my head all week since Carly showed me a meem that substituted the line "Here's my number, So call me maybe" with "Here's my labyrinth, I stole your baby" with a picture of David Bowie. I couldn't explain it, and then I found out Carly Rae Jepsen was Canadian. Yep, Avril Lavigne, Michael Cera, Instant Star, Degrassi, I've got a week spot for all of it. You can also check out the song as performed by President Obama and the cast of Star Wars.

Ocarina of Time Movie - I was re-watching the Cameron Crowe /John Hughes Legend of Zelda trailer, because it is spot on, and decided to check out some of the other Zelda fan videos YouTube had to offer. This one plays it soooo straight, right down to the tracking shots of Link traveling through the field. And it's cool that it was produced entirely by teenage girls, because they should get to have something, too I cannot find it again. I might have made it up.

Waiting for October - an Adventures of Pete & Pete fan zine being put together by folks from the Internet, including a cover by Joe Quinones that I already bought a print of at HeroesCon! Pete & Pete, in my top five show of all time (if I could only choose one Aaron Sorkin show)! That show is how you remember growing up, the same way the West Wing is the way you imagine government works.
