And with that, #talistoweek2020 has come to an end🥳🎉🎆! I'm super overwhelmed by the enthusiasm this year, and I'm happy to find new faces and friends! This week was tough for me emotionally and yall helped me through it! Thank you so much! 💚🥺💙
Please continue to support me in my work, and continue to love talisto and lolirock! Commissions will open this week, and I'll be working on the animatic on the down low lol
My favorite eps in RomCom animes were the festival ones! They're always interesting and I've always wanted to attend a festival myself! American schools have similar events but they aren't as culturally invested. I also wanted to try out @chihirohowe 's kimono tutorial! It's not perfect but I did my best! It was rly helpful. Meph gets stuck with Class President Talia who is actually kind of cute? She enjoyed the Crystalline Lights Festival back in Xeris so I wanted to mirror that ^_^

xerie would have been very against the idea of becoming a jedi, at least at first. like, they liked “their” life, y’know? it was a good “life”. well, it was fine. why would they leave it? it would be weird for them to become a jedi, anyways... stop asking them to join, stop looking at them like that.... that vrook guy has the right idea they were NOT meant to do this.
and then they share that vision with bastila and they can’t deny that there’s something going on but they want to, oh they want to... they can’t get out of it but they’re still reluctant to dive fully in. there’s something about holding a lightsaber that makes them feel sick, makes them feel cold. they get told that they’re just not used to it, that this is why jedi are trained from a young age but its important for xerie to persevere. the feeling doesn’t get better, though.
they suppose they’re scared of failing. there’s been so much pressure put on them, so many expectations for them and bastila and the rest of their little team but they’ve seen what malak can do. how can they stand against that? how can they be expected to?
it’s so hard
and when malak tells them the truth they don’t know how to feel. sick, maybe. dizzy. it makes sense, they know it makes sense. they know they’re more powerful than they thought they were but they’re still... afraid. everyone’s treating them differently and they don’t like that. they think back to taris. things were... tense there but they remember joking, and smiling. when did they last smile? all they can remember doing since then is restraining themself from snapping at everyone, isolating themself, being a tool for the jedi and nothing more.
what else are they restraining themself in?
what happens when they let go?

First arts of the new year
There's a month long new years event going on on amino so
These are some of my finished pieces, not all of them are up there yet tho
1. New Years Party
First kiss of the new year! Praxina got a little impatient, and didn't exactly wait for the countdown to finish before she lunged ;)
Tumblr media
2-3. Favorite Character/Side Character
Carissa is my favorite design of the princesses, hands down
Joanna is the prettiest character, tho, like.... i could die she's so pretty
I'm so gay
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Genderbend
Yeah, no.
5. Role Swap
Lev and Talia swap places! Everything else is pretty much the same, tho
I mean, Izira is from Volta and the rebel leader not by dint of being a powerful Princess, but just being an accomplished sorcerer in her own right. She and Talia got separated at a young age, and aren't aware the other is still around for a while
Lev joined the resistance pretty much the same way Carissa and Lyna do, by volunteering
Xeris probably still fell to Gramorr but maybe it went differently
I'll need to think about it if i revisit this au again

Okay so I just want to say that 🍁🍪 anon is a GOD SEND. Their thoughts on s7 are pretty much the same as mine and I’m glad someone with more confidence than me was able to put that out there (especially at a time when the fandom was at such a low). And thanks to that I also want to real quickly throw out a few extra thoughts and things I noticed. 1st: the allurance moment. When Allura walked up to lance, he started blush imediately but Allura only did After she noticed Veronica trying to (1/?)
(Not so) discreetly hide and give them a moment. Allura looked away with an almost cringe like look before shaking it off and wishing lance good luck. 2nd: Keith and Axuca (?). Their first interaction this season I definitely got vibes that she has some strong feelings for Keith. Maybe, maybe not romantic. Idk yet. But Keith was pretty normal in that situation, like it felt like he was just being the leader and thanking her for everyone while also having a high amount respect for her. Then (2/?)
There is the scene in the last episode where she appears in the graveyard and if we look at many, many hetero stereotypical scenes involving a graveyard, if ANYTHING romantic was gonna happen Keith would have noticed her. (Would also have been raining but pfff it Voltron there’s no rain) 3rd: ADAM. Why did they show Krolia getting closure over Keith’s dad but not Shiro? Cause, I’m gonna jump on the band wagon here, but I agree, I think they’re pulling another Matt. Twice, TWICE, the focused(3/?)
On his name plate. Like the second time was really weird and just kinda thrown in there. It would have been a great solidification on him being dead if they showed Shiro pausing in his speech then cutting straight to Adam’s plate before jumping back to Shiro, having him continue his speech after getting some concerned sideways glances then panting to the picture frames beside him. 4th: Atlas the robot. If we focus on the name and the myth behind it, the titan atlas holds up the sky so that(4/?)
It will not touch the earth and destroy all life on it. Voltron’s atlas did exactly that. As a ship he withstood the ziforgecanons blast to KEEP IT FROM TOUCHING THE EARTH AND DESTROYING ALL LIFE ON IT. Then when Voltron, the defender of the universe, was knock down by the Haggar bot atlas immediately transformed into a robot as well. A Titan robot to be exact. Plus the fact that neither Voltron nor atlas moved as robots at the same time (seriously atlas only moved after Voltron and Voltron(5/?)
Got back after atlas was drained of power and couldn’t move) just like how atlas could only be freed from his burden if another took his place. Atlas has only been introduce to the fandom as a defender of Earth. Fighting only to insure that the sky(aka Galra) didn’t destroyed the earth. And finally I have one more thing to say and I hope I don’t get too much hate but it desperately needs to be said(6/?)
To all the fandom members who “gave up” after the seventh episode and either a) didn’t watch the rest or b) skipped through the rest: I don’t think you deserve to complain. You didn’t take the time to watch it all or just cherry picked certain events to complain about. It’s not fair to those who haven’t watched it yet because they are getting an extremely negative biased outlook by someone who couldn’t take the time to PROPERLY FINISH THE SEASON. Like your dragging everybody down for what? (7/?)
Because you got so hyper focused on a few small details? I’m disappointed that the Voltron community has such shallow people. Espicsily some that I’ve followed since the beginning of this fandom. For everyone else who hasn’t watch it yet you really should. I can’t garuntee you’ll like everything in it and I’m also not saying it’s perfect. But watch it for yourself and then decide for yourself on whether or not it was worth it. Isn’t that the reason we all love this show so much? (7/?)
Because it meant something important to each of us in a way only We as individuals, can ever truely know? That’s just my personal opinion and you can do whatever you want with it just, if you decide to leave this wonderful show and fandom: do it because you want to. Not because everyone else is doing it. Thank you for taking the time to read this and also thank you rocket and 🍁🍪 anon for giving me a chance to interact with such wonderful people. I’ll see those that stay for season 8. Xeri 8/8

Merry Christmas @patalmellow!  I was your LoliRock Secret Santa!  I know how much you wanted something with Izira and here you go!  It kinda took a while for this to be done since it’s a fanfic but it’s done!  I hope you enjoy it!
Sisters of Xeris: A Moment of Love and Forgiveness
From as long as she can remember, the relationship with her sister has been pretty steady.  Especially considering the shit they’ve been through for the past eleven years. The woman sighed as she continued signing important documents pertaining to the reconstruction of the kingdom and renewing the alliances with Volta and Ignus.  Things just weren’t the same anymore.  The dark-skinned royal swiveled around in her chair and faced the elegantly crafted window.  From her point of view, she saw construction workers and citizens working together to rebuild great buildings and create newer establishments for businesses to regulate the economy.  The twenty-seven year old set her pen down on the desk crafted from an old Xerin tree and stood up in front of the window.  She closed her eyes and reminisced the feeling of being in front of the glass with her father.  The woman felt a small pang in her heart as she remembered what the great king of Xeris looked like.  He was tall and muscular, fit to be a warrior.  Silver strands of his locs pulled into a bun and kind golden eyes, symbolizing years’ worth of wisdom.  She remembers seeing his dark skin looking radiant with his beard.  It makes her feel blessed that she inherited such wonderful traits.
“I miss you so much father…” The young royal queen remembered how her father always wore significant robes of the finest Ephedian silk, with the colors of white with royal and crystal blue woven together. His long royal blue cape was her and her sister’s favorite part of his robe.  Not only did it signify authority, but it served well as something very entertaining to play with as a child.  She looked down at her wrist to stare at a beautiful golden watch she received when she was a teenager.  The shape of the gift was the moon with tiny blue crystals representing the craters forming on the surface.  The stars surrounding the moon represented the numbers that indicated the time it was in the day.
“I think I might know a way to cheer you up today.  I know Shanilla is very hard and for you to get it on your birthday might not be the best gift ever.” The benevolent King of Xeris sat his eldest daughter in his spinning chair in front of the window while running his fingers through her scalp.  While he was proud to see his daughter inherit his hair color, he still felt bad that she lost the majority of her locks because of the event known as “magical puberty” for an Ephedian.  The king looked at his wrist and undid the chambers holding the trinket together with his fingers.  The thirteen year old widened her fuchsia eyes in shock as she witnessed her father giving her a treasure that he loved so dearly.
“F—Father…” The man smiled brightly at his child, seeing the confliction pass in her eyes.
“I’ve never been so proud to be the father of two wonderful young girls. You give me such happiness and strength and to see you grow to your potential?  By Ephedia, nothing can make me feel so at peace than to witness my baby girl getting her Shanilla and growing into a beautiful young lady. Happy birthday Izira.” The dark-skinned princess’s father carefully placed the trinket onto her wrist and adjusted it to fully fit without sliding off. “May you continue your journey as a princess of Xeris and to continue to be happy.” Tears stung the girl’s eyes as she jumped into her father’s arms in full force.  The man chuckled as he felt his daughter’s strength slightly crushing his ribs from the hug.  Strong arms embraced Izira as if to protect her from harm while she received the endless love coming from the gentle king.
               “Thanks Daddy…”
The memory of her father quickly vanished from her mind as soon as it came.  Izira felt her eyes sting from the water within and quickly fanned her face.  Why would she have that memory come over her now of all times?  She’s supposed to be continuing to work on rebuilding her kingdom right now!  This was not the time for her to sunder over old memories.  Then again, all Izira has been doing is working on her kingdom.  She hasn’t had any time to think about what happened before Gramorr attacked.  She couldn’t wish that things could go back to the way they were.  The young queen touched the cool glass with her forehead and took a deep breath.  Everything was just so…exhausting.  Draining. Depressing.  That horrible war really fucked everything up.  She remembered when things started to become tense between certain kingdoms before Gramorr showed up.  From witnessing diplomats screaming at each other to other kings and queens threatening to end treaties at a young age.  But throughout the mist of strife, Izira remembered how and why she was taught to keep a leveled head.
Even though her Shanilla was very short, the older princess’s hair grew back at a longer length.  The strands were so long and thick to the point where it was impossible to keep her hair in a ponytail when she would train to practice her magic.  It was frustrating on a lot of accounts.  Her hair would fall out of place and get in her eyes!  Izira was about to cut her hair in haste when she was suddenly stopped by a voice as rich as honey.
“Izira!  What did I say about making such hasty decisions?” Heels clicked across the marble floor towards the frustrated princess and stopped when the person stood in front of the teen.  Fuchsia eyes looked up to see slightly darker fuchsia eyes staring with both amusement and a hint of scolding.
“To not let your emotions become your way of thinking, mother.” The Queen of Xeris smiled as she fixed her daughter’s silvery hair.  Izira basked in the warmth of her mother’s long, elegant fingers removing her strands.  She watched as the very dark-skinned queen neatly pulled the silver locks into a better ponytail.  Izira used to hate it when people said how she looked like her mom.  She thought she looked more like her father but now the princess can understand why.  The woman was so amazingly beautiful.  Her hair was the brightest shade of blue and the length is astounding.  It almost went to the floor and was thick with tight curls. Her skin shined and glistened in the sunlight but it glowed and radiated in the moonlight.  Her skin was darker than the King’s and was said to be the greatest gift delivered from the heavens.  The queen’s eyes were envied by all because of the passion and tenderness they hold.  Usually, Izira’s mother would be wearing an elegant gown that flowed like a lily to the floor.  It had the signature colors of royal and light blue, white, and gold.  Her waist was wrapped with blue crystals encased in gold. But the real treasure rested upon the side of her head: the sacred and powerful Medallion of Xeris.
The powerful artifact held up the queen’s hair in a ponytail so the strands wouldn’t get in the way of the day’s training.  Izira was amazed of how her mother merely created a ponytail in a matter of a few seconds.  After being proud of her work, the royal queen walked to the tall bookshelf and looked for the spell book she was going to use.  The young princess touched the ponytail while still awestruck at how her mother didn’t even use magic to help her out.  Her eyes looked to the medallion that held the hair in place. Just how in the world could something that could reverse time and destroy kingdoms or planets be able to hold up hair like it’s an accessory?  Apparently the queen could read minds because she turned around and stroked the artifact.  She walked over to her daughter and bent down a bit to let Izira get a better view.
“I know you’re curious about the medallion Izira.  And since you won’t stop staring at it, go ahead and touch it.” The teenager slowly lifted her hand and gently made contact with the precious material.  She instantly felt a huge surge of energy swimming in her body.  It was as if the medallion was trying to speak to her.
“Wow…” The queen smiled as she put the book down on the floor and reached the artifact.  She carefully took off the medallion and all of her hair in its glory fell to the floor. Gentle hands delicately wove the medallion into the silvery ponytail.  Izira’s excitement was shooting through the roof but was able to keep it contained within.  Her mother caressed her face and bore a satisfying grin.
“Aww…my baby looks so pretty!” A red hue graced the dark-skinned teenager’s face from being slightly embarrassed.
“Mother!” A chuckle rose from the queen as she kissed Izira’s forehead.
“Can’t be embarrassed if it’s true dear!” The woman glided her hands down Izira’s hair to her face.  She sighed, seeing how beautiful her child is and how she’s ever so grateful to have such wonderful children. “I’ve never been so proud to have my babies.  Izira, I want you to keep the medallion.  It was going to be passed down to you later on but I think you’re ready to use it.  To be able to guide and protect your people.” The queen saw both fear and hesitation in her daughter’s eyes.  She hugged the teen with all of her strength to reassure her daughter. “I’m sorry baby. But one day, you’ll become a queen. You must know what to do and how to do it if your father and I cannot do it.  I know you will have the weight of the world on your shoulders.  But your people love you.  They want you to succeed.  They want you to guide them and lead them in your own way.  I want you to become a queen that’ll make both me and your father proud.  Especially me because you were my baby before your dad’s.” Both ladies chuckled at the comment.  Izira knew at that moment, she had to step it up.  She had to learn as much as she can and be disciplined.  She wanted to make her parents proud.  She wanted them to be at peace that she can rule her kingdom and leave a legacy for the day when her parents leave Ephedia.
A lone tear escaped the young queen’s eye as the memory of her loving mother passed.  Izira sniffed, trying to pull herself together.  Just…why is she getting so emotional all of a sudden?  She was doing just fine earlier!  Perhaps it is because she’s very exhausted from the work she’s been doing non-stop.  She just needs to get her mind off of these distractions.  Izira blew her nose with a tissue from the desk.  She threw it in the trash, taking a deep breath while trying to go back to work.  The twenty-seven year old picked up her pen and continued to sign several more documents. Each one was different from the other. One discussed whether an alliance should occur and another was about how the economy should get back up after businesses were destroyed.  Izira tried to read the words on the paper but her vision was blurry.  Very blurry.  She blinked to try to clear her vision but she felt water roll down her cheeks. The more she blinked, the more tears fell from her fuchsia orbs.  What the hell?  Why is she crying?  Why can’t she stop?  Izira tried to stop the tears but they just kept coming.  Before she knew it, the new queen of Xeris found herself sobbing.  She felt her shoulders drop from the weight of her kingdom finally being acknowledged.  It was too much.  Too much. Too much…!  Too much!  Izira felt it all now.  Everything. The fact that her parents could be dead, her kingdom being in utter shambles, her having to figure out how to rebuild the kingdom and society from scratch, having to negotiate with other realms to form alliances.  And to think that it was…her fault.
The realization hit her.  It was her fault.  It was all her fault.  She didn’t fight hard enough to protect her kingdom.  She didn’t fight hard enough to protect her people.  She let herself get captured and didn’t act for almost a decade. Izira released a heart-wrenching sob at her sudden realization: a failure.  There was no way she could be a queen of this realm.  So many people looked to her at a young age to lead them. To guide them.  To give them a sense of comfort that they will be protected throughout the war.  She let her parents down.  The guilt stabbed her hard in her stomach.  The caring father she adored and the loving mother she admired would be extremely disappointed in her.  They left their kingdom in the hands of the eldest daughter who would’ve caused their legacy’s downfall.  Izira felt her chest clench in agony as she tried to regulate her breathing.  She could see them now.  The disappointment and anger in the eyes of her parents, her people, the princesses who fought alongside her from the resistance, and her sister—oh no…Her sister…The Xerin queen felt the world crumble beneath her.  Sweet Ydinora…she failed the most important person the most…her younger sister…
“Oh dear Ydinora…I…I failed…Talia…” Realization hit Izira like a ton of bricks.  She didn’t protect her younger sister.  The young queen’s stomach tied itself in knots, leaving a horrible feeling to bubble.  Izira, the most powerful princess in Ephedia, the next ruler of Xeris, could not protect Talia when she was a child.  She remembered how much Talia hated it when their own people compared her to her older sister.  She also recalled how she thrusted so much responsibility onto a little seven year old because of the threat of an incoming war.  Izira was such an irresponsible person to even allow her younger sibling to go out all by herself.  If she didn’t let Talia leave…
“Izira?  Izira? Hey, are you in here?  We still need to attend a meeting soon.” A sweet voice entered the room full of sobs from the young ruler.  Entering the study, a seventeen-year old girl with skin of the earth and long hair of the color of ice flipped through the small stack of documents.  It wasn’t easy having to go through it.  Her honey-colored orbs were definitely tired and hurting from staying up late from reading between the lines of the papers.  She knew that tending to the kingdom would be exhausting, but she didn’t think it would cause constant migraines.  Her train of thought stopped when she heard the sobs of her elder sibling. Talia quickly slammed the door and put the stack of papers in a cushiony seat before she could console Izira.
Talia puts her hands on the older woman’s shoulders and gave a grip.  Poor Izira was still crying heavily that she didn’t know the person she was relentlessly thinking about was right next to her.  Talia feared that someone would walk into the room during her sister’s emotional turmoil and quickly sealed the door with her magic.  As soon as the deed was done, the Xerin princess grabbed Izira’s face and began to wipe away the tears.
“Izira?  Izira? Please, tell me what’s wrong?” The royal queen finally registered Talia’s voice and was able to quiet her loud sobs.  She constantly hiccupped to try to regain her breath and to prevent herself from fully wailing.  The dark-skinned queen felt her world crumble around her.  She wrapped her arms around Talia and embraced her as if their lives depended on it.
“I conph noo it.” Talia embraced her older sibling but couldn’t make out what she was trying to say.
“What?” Izira turned her head to let herself breathe and let her voice be heard.
“I can’t fucking do it Talia.  I can’t fucking do it!” The younger sibling felt her heart shatter from seeing her sister’s emotional state.  What happened to her?!
“Izira you’re not making any sense!  What can’t you do?”
“Anything!  I can’t fucking do anything!  I didn’t protect the kingdom.  I couldn’t protect our people from Gramorr.  I couldn’t even protect my only sister!  I’ve failed our parents Talia!  I’ve failed our people!  I’ve failed you!  How could I ever take the place as ruler of Xeris if I couldn’t even protect you when you were only a child?!” Loud cries filled the room from the distressed queen. Tears fell from honey-colored orbs and landed on silver hair.
Talia never knew that so much weighed on Izira’s shoulders.  The expectation that she would rule Xeris like their parents or that she would protect their people like it was easy.  Talia knew it wasn’t going to be easy.  But she understood why her sister is breaking.  Izira was a prisoner of that evil sorcerer for eleven years.  Both siblings didn’t know if either one was dead.  Guilt snaked its way into the teen’s stomach as she buried her face into the woman’s hair.  Izira shouldn’t be feeling this way at all.  Especially because it was Talia’s fault in the first place that Izira couldn’t fight at her full potential without the medallion.  She should’ve just stayed put at home and forget all about the festival.
“Izira…Izira!  You have nothing to feel guilty about.  None of that was your fault.  None of it! If anything, it’s all my fault.  I should’ve listened to you and stayed home. I was selfish and I…I…” Sobs came from Talia as years’ worth of guilt and self-loathing crawled out of her mind. Izira did only what a princess should at the time.  No one knew that it was Talia who had the medallion in the first place.  Izira sniffed and wiped her face with her clammy hands.  She pulled Talia down and made her sit on her lap.  She grabbed Talia’s face and wiped her tears while also giving a concerned look.
“Talia, you were just a child!  You were only seven!  You didn’t know still didn’t know how to correctly use your powers!  You barely got out of your Shanilla!  There’s no way you can take any of this blame when all you wanted to do was have a little bit of freedom and go to the festival like everyone else!  You didn’t know Gramorr would show up at a time like that.  You have not nor will you ever be at fault for what happened.” The younger Xerin princess opened her eyes and more water droplets came out.  Her sister was too kind with her words.  She might have been a child, but responsibility was already placed on her shoulders as soon as she got her Shanilla.  People were already comparing her to her older sister just because she hit her magical puberty very early.  Izira squeezed Talia’s cheeks for reassurance, as if she read the younger princess’s mind. “I know how much they talked about you.  And it wasn’t fair that they compared little Tali to your sister. I’m so sorry Talia.  I’m sorry that such a burden was placed on you when you were just a kid.  And I’m sorry that you’ve blamed yourself all this time for everything that happened.” Izira took a deep breath as she brought her forehead to Talia’s. “And I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you.  To see you grow up into a beautiful young princess.  I’m so sorry Talia…Please forgive me…”
Talia sniffed and wiped her nose with a tissue. Dear Ydinora did she love her sister. So, so much.  Maybe…maybe she’s right.  Talia was so hard on herself growing up.  She was only a kid.  How can a small child be able to cause a massive butterfly affect that wasn’t even their fault to begin with?  The Xerin princess placed her hands on her sister’s palms.  Talia relished the warmth and love of her sibling.  She looked into her sister’s eyes and cleared her throat.
“I forgave you when I saw that you were imprisoned.  You’ve been forgiven for years Izira.  But maybe you should forgive yourself.” The elder Xerin royal arched her eyebrow. “You were only sixteen.  You barely had any experience to fully rule while our parents were gone.  Expectations were put on your shoulders before me. Everyone put all of their faith on you to lead them like our parents did.  You were only a kid that knew better than me.  None of this was your fault either Izira.  You deserve to forgive yourself.  You didn’t know that Gramorr would show that day either.  You only wanted me to be happy.  It’s okay Izira.  Forgive yourself.” The royal queen’s eyes widened.  Since when did little Tali become so wise?  Izira felt more tears welling up in her eyes, realizing that she too has been hard on herself ever since the day that Gramorr invaded.  She buried her face in her sister’s middle and cried her heart out.  Talia’s grip became harder as she felt more tears rolling down her cheeks.  Both women felt their struggles, burdens, anger, sadness, self-loathing, and worries lift from their shoulders.
It was such a refreshing feeling.  They felt as if it was just them floating on clouds. Izira’s breathing began to slow after another minute of sobbing.  A hand was searching for the box of tissues but couldn’t feel for the object.  Talia grabbed the box and held it in front of the queen’s face.  Izira pulled out the tissue and blew her nose hard, almost sounding like a Psuelvo, a creature from Ephedia that sounds like the equivalent of an elephant on earth. Talia chuckled from the sound and blew her nose as well.  She wrapped her arms around her sister’s neck and laid her head on Izira’s hair after the used napkin was thrown into the trash bin.  A migraine was forming in the twenty-seven year old’s forehead from the constant crying and blowing.  She was debating on having Talia get up from her lap so she could find some medicine to help soothe the pain.  The woman heard her sister sigh and realized that she wasn’t gonna be able to go anywhere any time soon.  Talia blinked to try to relieve some of the pain from her eyes.  She happened to look over in the chair to see the large stack of papers she put during the rush of aiding her sister.  The meeting!  She totally forgot all about it!
“The meeting!  We forgot all about it!  We’ll be late if we don’t get going now!” Izira’s eyes widened as she forgot the important task at the moment.  But really, she couldn’t go to a meeting like this.  She was too tired and worn out from her emotional episode.  Izira missed out eleven years of her sister’s life and they were too busy trying to rebuild their kingdom to truly spend time with each other.  She kept a grip on Talia’s waist and pressed a button into the speaker.
               “Kylo?”
“Yes your majesty?” Said a deep voice coming from the machine.
“Cancel the meeting scheduled for the day.  Something got pushed back in the schedule and it’s very important that I look into it.  Tell the royals of Ignus that we will reschedule the meeting on Monday, considering how there is a small festival going on in that realm on the weekend.”
“Will do your majesty.” Izira took her finger off of the button and wrapped her arms around Talia once again.  Golden eyes looked at fuchsia orbs in confusion.
“We deserve a little break for once.  I haven’t had enough time to reunite with my sister properly.” Talia smiled as she hugged the twenty-seven year old with all of her strength.
               “I love you Izira.”
“And I love you Tali.” The princess of Xeris rolled her eyes.
“You haven’t called me that nickname in years! I thought I told you I didn’t liked being called that!” A grin formed on the woman’s face from both delight and mischief.
“And yet, I was the only one you allowed to call you that!” Blood rushed to Talia’s face as she tried not to act like a six year old wanting to hide under the covers.
“Oh…whatever Izzy.” Now it was Izira’s turn to blush.
“Hey!” Both women burst into laughter, feeling on top of the world.  Silence then filled the room and the Xerin siblings were just fine with it.  Izira never felt so content before.  Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind.  When was the last time she held her sister?  When was the last time Talia was excited to talk about something she was interested in?  How did their sisterly bond form to begin with?
Izira was in the study with her father while he was signing documents.  She loved sitting on his lap while he did paperwork. It would be just them in their own little secluded room filled with books, papers, and a spinning chair. However, the silence broke free from the room when a man with long brown hair pulled into a ponytail burst through the room.  He was breathing hard as if he ran from another realm to the office on foot.  The king and princess snapped their heads to the door as they waited to hear what the servant said.
“Your Majesty!  Queen Izora is about to deliver!” The king wasted no time as he hoisted his daughter in his arms and ran behind the royal servant.  Curious ten-year old Izira wondered why her father was running so fast to her mother.  Did something bad happen?  The group went to the large chamber filled with equipment for medical procedures. The royal queen was surrounded by the best doctors of Xeris and was doing her best to bring the new life into the world.
“One more push your majesty!” The queen grunted loudly but was drowned out when large cries filled the room.  Lo and behold, a tiny baby made their grand entrance and went into the arms of a doctor at the end of the bed.  The king quickly placed Izira on the couch at the far end of the room and walked over to his wife.  Two doctors moved out of the way and the gentle king gripped his wife’s hand.  He wiped the sweat off of her forehead and kissed her.
“Sorry I’m a bit late love.” Izora chuckled at her husband.
“If I wasn’t so tired and ready to meet my baby, I’d probably stab your butt with a crystal Tarek.” The doctor that finished cleaning the tiny baby came over to the royal couple and handed over the child.  Izora gently took the baby that stopped crying and gasped. Tarek was so full of emotion.  He was the one to start crying after touching his new daughter’s face.
“She’s so beautiful.  She can just fit in my hands.” Izora looked up for just a second to see her ten-year old daughter sitting on the couch watching the event unfold.  Tarek got up from his wife’s side and walked over to Izira. He picked her up and brought her over to Izora and her new baby sister.
“Izira, this is your baby sister!” The young princess stared at the newborn and was overcome with curiosity.
“Mommy, can I hold her?” Izora beckoned a doctor to sit her up properly so Izira can sit in the bed.  The young princess sat on her mother’s lap and held her new sibling with the queen’s help. That baby was just so small and cute! So this is what it’s like to be a big sister!
“What should we name her Tarek?” The king with silver locs tried to think of a fitting name, but he was so wrapped up in seeing his new child being held by his eldest.
“Hi Talia!  I’m your big sister!” As soon as the name was heard, the baby opened their honey-colored orbs to see a fuchsia pair staring at them in excitement.  Both Tarek and Izora were floored when the baby just opened their eyes to Izira.  Happiness filled the room and Tarek carefully pulled his family into his arms.                “Talia.  Our new baby’s name is Talia.”
Izira smiled fondly from the memory.  No wonder their bond didn’t break!  Their bond formed as soon as Talia acknowledged her name being called by her older sister.  No one could have this kind of bond anywhere else.
               “Hey Talia?”
“Hmm…?” The tired princess had her eyes closed but still acknowledged the sibling.
“How was it like on earth?” Talia has been waiting to hear Izira ask that question for a long time.  But she was too tired to tell her everything now.
“Can I tell you everything after a nap?” Izira giggled at her sister’s response.  She nudged Talia to get off of her lap and stood up.  She lead her younger sister to a couch on the right side of the room and laid down.  Talia followed suit and lied down next to Izira and almost fell asleep instantly.
“Of course you can Tali.  We have the rest of the night and the weekend for you to tell me everything.” She wrapped her arm around Talia and snuggled crystal blue hair. Izira closed her eyes, running off to the land of dreams where she, Talia, and her parents were together laughing at a horrible joke Tarek made.
“Your highness, the meeting has been cancelled for the day.” A diplomat with short auburn hair gave the news to the reigning royals sitting on their thrones.  It has been a long day in Ignus and they were busy organizing a little festival for the citizens to celebrate their hard work of rebuilding after the war.  The royal king wearing a short sleeved shirt and red pants sighed.  He ran his fingers through his bright red braids that went to the middle of his back. His tan skin slightly glistened due to doing physically demanding labor from helping his citizens rebuild their homes. He was really looking forward to this meeting with the Queen of Xeris.
“We should be patient Khalil.  After all, they’re still rebuilding too.” The woman beside the king tried to reason.  She wore a long strapless top that had sheer tails coming to the floor.  She wore a pair of dark red trousers with golden lines going in different directions.  Her dark skin wasn’t as shimmering as her husband’s considering she was taking a break from doing manual labor as well.
“I know we should Adeena.  It’s just—”
“Dad?  Are we still going?” A young woman with long and dark red Marley Twists in a red ponytail interrupted Khalil in excitement.  She wore here long dark red dress with gold accents at the top.  Her dark skin looked radiant with the dress and her golden eyes made her look astounding.  Everyone looked to the princess with a hint of disappointment.
“I’m sorry Karina.  But the meeting is cancelled.” The nineteen year old sighed in disbelief and sagged her shoulders.  She was really looking forward to meeting both Talia and Izira.
“However, they did reschedule the meeting on Monday.” The royal family perked up upon hearing the addition.
“So…does that mean…?” A voice entering the throne room caused everyone to look in excitement.  A man with silver locs in a ponytail wearing a pair of khaki shorts and white shirt drenched with sweat from working walked in.  He seemed to have aged a bit from the stress of war but it still made him look good.  A woman with long, crystal blue hair wearing the same attire walked in the room behind the man.  Her tears ran down her cheeks, joining the bucket of sweat that poured on her very dark skin.  The Ignus princess nodded in excitement.  She ran over to the couple and took each of their hands.
“You’ll be reunited with your daughters soon Mr. Tarek and Ms. Izora!”

Question for Talia and Mephisto. What do you guys like about each other? How does the other make your life complete?
Here’s Talia’s half of the fic “What I Love About You”! It will also be a one shot, but will not take place in the same setting as Mephisto’s.
—————————————————————————————————–
For the fifteenth time that night, Talia turned over in the soft periwinkle sheets to find a more comfortable position. Pregnancy was in no way relaxing, and the fact that she had two little magicians shifting and kicking around in there left her alternating between the bathroom and the balcony; whichever she could reach first. Between the aching pain in her back and her feet, the constant pressure on her bladder, and the painful swelling of her ankles and breast, she would do just about anything to get a little bit of rest before tomorrow’s meeting with the Ydinoran Council. Delegates from Xeris and Zaterra would be coming to check in on Ydinora’s reconstruction and communities. She dreaded the thought of waddling through the crowded streets, surrounded by various smelly concoctions of perfumes and foods. It was a complete nightmare last time.
Of course, she loved being able to connect with her people, and see the kingdom for what it was with her own eyes, but she didn’t want to come off as pretentious or distant by staying in the carriage the whole time either.
She felt guilty, quite honestly. Everyone in the castle was going out of their way to help her prepare for the arrival of the twins. Izira had been the most excited, already preparing a proclamation the day she found out. By the end of the week she had a list of 500 names for one, and when she found out there would be two, she quickly brought up 500 more. She sent out for all sorts of books from the library, and seemed the most prepared to handle the situation.
Talia and Mephisto had been even more surprised when Praxina arrived back from Earth with Zack and a load of gifts from the Bradys. Talia was sure to send Zack home with gifts from Ydinora for both of his parents. She would find Praxina studying birthing rituals and prenatal care and the dark, brooding sorceress refused to let her lift a finger when she was around. Both her and Zack were always open to helping her, and Zack even spent part of his school year doing online work to be available, especially considering he was studying to be a doctor.
Uncle Aslyn was the most unsure, but he did his best to gain blessings with the other realms, and doubled security whenever she was around. Whenever an escort was needed, he always volunteered, and with her magic quickly being devoured be the little diamond heads, one seemed to always be necessary.
Sighing, Talia picked at her darkened locks. They were no longer the soft, signature blue of which all had come to recognize her by, but a warm, chocolatey brown. Their biggest concern was always if she and the children would make it to the due date. Xerins weren’t very fertile, and Talia was the only royal Xerin that could reproduce. Everyone was counting on her. Granted, she’d be lying that some sides were less thrilled that she was not with a Xerin husband, but she doubted she could ever be as happy without Mephisto by her side.
As if on cue, the Snake Prince let out an abrupt and long snore. Talia rolled her eyes, smirking with amusement as he shifted in his sleep. Okay, so maybe her husband was lacking in the Xerin trait of grace, but she found it to be in some ways rather charming. A loud groan made her eyes widen as he turned onto his side, murmuring about Zingleberries and Roku eating his cape. Her expression fell into relief before she slipped out of bed. The cool floor felt like a miracle against the soles of her feet, and she took to one of Mephisto’s discarded capes he was much too lazy to hang up himself.
Wrapping herself in it, she made her way to the balcony, doing her best not to slam the door shut. She nearly screamed as she was met with Roku’s large emerald eyes staring back at her. He’d been told to stand guard over her and Mephisto at night, and took to sleeping on their balcony. Of course, she had woken him up.
Smiling, she softly petted his snout, “Hey there, big guy. I’m okay, your daddy is just being really noisy. Let’s let him sleep okay?”
Roku let out a soft growl, nuzzling into her welcoming embrace and sniffing at her stomach.
“They’re okay too. Don’t worry.”
The dragon let out a wary snort.
“I’m not going to sneak out. I promise. I’ll stay right by your side if that makes you feel better.”
Roku cocked his head, looking rather unimpressed.
“You really think I’m going to jump this balcony with the little magic I have? I can’t fly right now, and even if I could the thought of it makes my stomach turn. I’m quite certain my days of escaping are over.” Talia sighed, rubbing at her arms. She was having two kids at twenty. Her time being a kid was going to end soon. She couldn’t be as careless as before, not with the way some have reacted to their creation, let alone Ydinora’s revival. She sighed as she curled up next to Roku, laying her head on his paws.
She could remember the first time she’d contacted Ydinora. It had been so long since they’d seen each other, and though she and the spirit couldn’t speak very well, her presence was always reassuring. She made Talia feel like she had a purpose. She didn’t pretend to love her based on her title, or fear her for being different. There was something in Dragon Queen’s eyes that made her feel like she belonged. She’d seen eyes like those elsewhere, but at first, she couldn’t put her finger on it. Eyes so clear and open, striking and bright with wonder.
They were so much like Mephisto’s. Tucking a hair behind her ear, she recalled the moment she first took notice of this fact. It was when he had caught her, scared she would fall to her death. She was terrified; her mind screamed out for Ydinora. Her heart called for her friends, for Amaru, for Izira, but it was Mephisto’s strong, bandaged arms that held her close, and the brilliant spheres of jade that made her entire being tremble with a long-repressed emotion she could only deem as enchantment. Until they fell onto Roku’s awaiting back.
The princess stroked behind the serpent’s ear, earning a purr of approval. She was certain at that point that her and Mephisto’s paths had been destined to cross, whether she wanted them to or not. That night she was so proud of him for flying again, and they promised each other that they wouldn’t go back on their promises; they would always be there to help the other when they needed it.
They tried so hard to find their way back to each other. Upon their return, they were driven apart by the need to restore their respective homes. Nearly two years had passed, and Talia was still as in love with the dark Lord of Zaterra, of which whom could not stand the fact that the Xerin Council was trying to marry off to anybody with a decent pocket book. He had Praxina make a personal request to meet with Queen Izira, and he was designated as Zaterra’s delegate, and was set on figuring out a way for Xeris to provide aid to Zaterra. Praxina, finally succeeding their aunt, Lady Ravenna, as the head of their clan, could only see a solution in partnering with Xeris somehow. They all knew the Council was against aiding the black crystal clan, but they all knew they’d have a better chance together. However, Izira knew all too well that Mephisto’s heart was set on their princess. Their marriage made logical sense to her, as it did Praxina, but that didn’t stop the onslaught that came from rivaling kingdoms.
Okay, so maybe sleeping with the Zaterran ambassador wasn’t her greatest plan, but it certainly increased his chances when other suitors found out and backed off with respect. Some were more furious, such as Prince Jodan and Prince Cadogan, but Jodan was certainly more lenient. Talia blushed heavily at remembering the events that led up to her and Mephisto’s relationship, but it was certainly worth it. No matter how intense things had gotten, no matter how scary, he refused to let her slip from him again.
For some godforsaken reason, he couldn’t let her go. He’d bring her from the edge of death if he had to do so. His love for her was something she could barely comprehend, and yet she found that was the most endearing thing about him. When he truly connected to someone, when he found someone he couldn’t replace with anyone else, he held on as tight as he could. Perhaps it was due to the loss of his own family and friends that he refused to be the weak link anymore. He had fought so hard through his pain and depression to save Praxina so many years ago. He’d let go of his anger and bias to save her from a future he knew wasn’t what she wanted.
Despite his past, his arrogance, his evil nature, Mephisto was someone full of potential, especially when it came to protecting the people he loved. His heart was honest and he went above and beyond for their family. He’d been her biggest help since they’d gotten married. He put all his faith into her when they faced rebels in Zaterra, and she declared herself their princess, just as much as she was one to Xeris. He smiled proudly as he signed treaties between their lands and others, eager for new beginnings with their families together. He was at her defense when Xeris side tried to speak against their decision to marry, and he’d been the most understanding when she wasn’t sure she was strong enough to handle the world they had created. His hugs were always so welcoming, and he always knew what to say to make her laugh and how to convince her to take a break. He was overprotective, and sometimes insatiable, but he always meant well. His kisses left her in a daze, and his touch left her body burning with an electrifying hunger even the slightest of connections.
When his hand was in her own, the world just felt right. He was the most chaotic man she’d even had the pleasure of meeting, and yet his very presence brought the feeling of serenity to her life. She sighed softly as her eyes drifted closed, and she knew she had overstayed her welcome. Everyone would throw a fit if she slept outside, no matter how warm Roku felt, but getting up seemed easier said than done. She huddled closer to the beast, pulling Mephisto’s cape closer, but the large fabric barely managed to cover her swollen stomach.
With a low groan of frustration, she moved to stand, but found she didn’t need to; Mephisto had taken it upon himself to retrieve her. He seemed to carry her effortlessly, despite how many jokes he made about her weight and newfound eating habits. He sent Roku a grateful look before moving to enter their bedroom once again.
“Did I wake you?”
“You could say that. Here I am, dazzling in sleeping for, skipping through the fields of dreamland, and yet, when I turn over to hold my beautifully round wife, ‘POOF’, she’s nowhere to be found! I feel betrayed, you left me for my own dragon.” Mephisto snorted, a playful grin teasing on his lips.
“Sorry, I just didn’t want to wake you. You’ve done so much for me by taking on a lot of my duties. I wanted you to get some rest. The Councils are meeting tomorrow and I want to make sure you get enough rest.” Talia smiled sheepishly, resting her head in the crook of his neck. She felt warmer already.
“Me? Talia, I don’t know if you know this, and it may come as a surprise to you, but you’ve got two mini-me’s who can pop out yelling 'Ateruina!’ anytime within the next couple months! The last thing you need to be doing is wandering off and not sleeping.” Mephisto scowled, giving her a warning look as he laid her in their bed.
“I know, you’re right. I just…”
“Like to overthink everything? Can’t sit still and be a good little…well big little princess?” Mephisto smirked, seeming rather please with his little pot shot. Until a pillow smack dead center into his face, “HEY! Don’t think I won’t punish you because you’re pregnant!”
“Ohhh, scary man.” Talia rolled her eyes, smiling wryly at him. Nothing was frightening about him to her anymore. Unless he was in trouble, then she’d worry, but with the soft glow of Ephedia’s moon glowing behind him, and the genuinely happy but sleepy smile, he seemed more lovely than ever.
“You know, Princess, I could always take an extra ten minutes when you absolutely need some type of food you’re craving.” Mephisto yawned, walking around the bed to crawl onto his own side.
“I could also smother you in your sleep.” Talia smirked wickedly, turning over to look at him.
“Smother me with kisses later. Sleep now.” Mephisto hummed, pulling up the covers and pulling her close.
“Sleep does sound a lot better.” Talia teased, looking up at him. He was already comatose, soft snores escaping him as she lost him to exhausting. Talia sighed, reaching up to tuck his bangs behind his ear. Her touch seemed to spark his attention, and he pulled her in tighter.
“Don’t go anywhere.” He whispered, his fingers caressing the soft browning strands cascading over her shoulder.
“I won’t. Not ever.” Talia relaxed, enjoying his presence as she drifted into a deep sleep. No one could make her feel so safe. Mephisto was definitely one of a kind, and she couldn’t wait for the day that their children would see it too. She had not doubt they’d love that about him too.

After 14 years of operations Xeris Pharma has its first-ever product approval, claiming an FDA okay for a glucagon product as a rescue therapy for diabetics who develop dangerously low blood sugar levels.
The product – which has been approved under the Gvoke brand name – is the first pre-mixed, ready-to-use glucagon to be licensed in the US for severely low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), which can lead to coma or even death if left untreated. It has been approved in prefilled syringe and pen injector formats.
Glucagon has the opposite effect of insulin, which lowers blood sugar levels and can cause hypoglycaemia if given in too high a dose. Gvoke has been approved for use in diabetics aged 2 years and above.
Xeris chief executive Paul Edick said the company would press ahead with a launch of the prefilled syringe (Gvoke PFS) in the next four to six weeks, and debut the auto-injector version (Gvoke HypoPen) in early 2020.
The FDA’s decision on Gvoke was originally due in June, but was delayed by three months as a result of a major amendment to Xeris’ marketing application for the drug, specifically relating to chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) data.
Gvoke is the second new glucagon product to be registered in the US in the last few weeks.  Towards the end of July, the FDA approved Eli Lilly’s intranasal formulation of the drug, Baqsimi, which is the first non-injectable version of the drug.
Both are an improvement on older injectables that need to be prepared in a multi-step mixing and reconstitution process, so can be used to deliver the rescue therapy more easily, but for now the jury is out on which of the new drugs will prove most popular – and whether they can grow the market for hypoglycaemia rescue therapy.
Xeris says that having a ready-to-use formulation could increase the number of diabetics who have a hypoglycaemia rescue kit on hand in case of an emergency. At the moment that’s uncommon because diabetics and their carers are often reluctant to prepare current glucagon products so they generally need to be administered by a healthcare professional.
“Until now, many people may have been hesitant to use conventional glucagon kits because the complex preparation felt confusing and perhaps overwhelming,” commented Jeff Hitchcock, founder and president of medical charity Children with Diabetes.
“With Gvoke as a new glucagon option, we gain an easy to use and effective solution to a dangerous and stressful event,” he added.
Shares in Xeris were suspended yesterday morning in preparation for the FDA’s decision and tracked up after trading resumed, but closed the day down almost 11% on what appeared to be profit-taking – or perhaps concern about how well Gvoke will stack up against Baqsimi in the marketplace.
For now Xeris isn’t revealing its pricing specifics for the Gvoke products other than to say they will be pitched at the same level as current glucagon products. Baqsimi has a list price of around $280 per dose.

Helpless // Chpt 4: Union Plans
Moving past the devastating events of the coming of age ceremony, how will the Ephedians solve the interkingdom disputes? Perhaps the Queen of Runic can be of help.
Chapter 5 is actually already written too, I got bored during a baseball game my brother took me to. I guess this is what having no internet does, it makes you productive??? weird. ANyway. That chapter I’ll post later on in the week.
Read it on ao3 or below:
The Crown Princess did not return to the ballroom before the festivities ended. Royals and nobles flooded out of the Ephedian castle in groups, most of the adults giggling stupidly and stumbling about. The Borealians and Voltans had carriages waiting for them; the Calixian royals called for their mounts; and the Runics teleported away, the twins mournfully looking back at the castle before they did.
Izira was to return to Xeris on her own - her Kingdom needed her to step up as Queen until her mother's blood transfusion was complete. Talia would stay with Laina to ensure no more harm came to her.
A group of Xerin guards stood ready and waiting at the castle gates, ready to escort Izira home to Xeris. Several of them stayed behind to provide support for Talia and Laina.
The Xerins were not taking any chances.
Only Talia was allowed in and out of her mother's sick room. Izira had already donated some of her own blood and now Talia had stepped up, transferring as much blood as was needed in steady amounts. In case Laina's body rejected the blood, Izira had taught Talia some more advanced healing spells in the hope of finding a solution there. But that was a last resort; regardless the younger princess had thrown herself into her studies.
Talia had been a happy go-lucky child. Never many worries on her plate, and the few she had, banished by a simple song.
But as she got older she realised why her mother was always tense when her friend Iris was visiting or vica versa, why she'd restricted the amount of time they could see each other after the Ephedian Princess passed her Shanila. Why her father always stayed behind to protect the kingdom if Liana needed to attend business in the capital.
Iris had told her it was because her father, Jericho, used to be Laina's best general, her proudest warrior. Until he fell in love with the Ephedian Queen - at the time still the princess - on a recon mission.
More than half of the Xerin army followed him to Ephedia, leaving Xeris unprotected and Laina paranoid.
The kingdoms had a treaty of course, but this did little to reassure Laina, having only recently taken the throne after the abrupt death of her mother. Even as her husband trained even more soldiers, just in case, Laina was busy crafting a powerful weapon using an old family heirloom - a medallion - that she would soon pass down to her eldest daughter.
It would be a weapon with enough force to level mountains, strong enough to part seas, powerful enough to cause armageddon should it fall into the wrong person's hands.
It would be the greatest Xerin creation since the Ancient Ephedian Spell Book.
That had been a few years ago. Now, their army was back up to full capacity and Izira had mastered the use of the medallion.
Yet the tension that had sprouted from one marriage still continued and wrapped itself between the two kingdoms, the most recent incident opening a great chasm through the entire interkingdom relationship. It seemed ironic to try to fix it with yet another marriage or two - but that was exactly what the Queen of Runic was intending to do, while doing what was best for herself and her own kingdom of course.
Peace was beneficial to all kingdoms after all, so why shouldn't Acherontia try to resolve the lurking conflict before it even reared its ugly head?
And so while Talia nursed her mother back to full health, while Mephisto wrote his very first letter to Iris; Acherontia wrote one to the Queen of Ephedia, outlining (most of) her plan and including a short reminder to look out for the lonsdaleite around her kingdom as she hadn't been able to find it before she had left the party.
Both letters were sent off at the same time, and soon enough...
"Your Majesty, a letter for yourself… and another for Princess Iris."
The announcement came at breakfast. Iris' face lit up only for her to look back to her meal as her mother took both letters off the royal page, setting them down next to her plate.
Tapping her plate nervously, Iris pipped up, "Mother can I-"
"Not until I have read it," Xiphi said curtly. It wasn't that she was going to deny her daughter her correspondence, she just needed to check beforehand that the letter wasn't going to upset her, especially with recent events. Iris had told her many times that she was old enough to determine this herself, but Xiphi wouldn't hear of it.
For the rest of the morning, Iris wiggled her feet anxiously, occasionally stealing glances at her mother's face once the Queen finished her meal and began to read the one addressed to Iris.
Within seconds she scoffed, "Another love letter. Here, Dear, amuse yourself." She tossed it across the table to her daughter and turned to the second letter.
"Pah, 'marital unions', as if I don't have more pressing matters to deal wi…" Xiphi trailed off.
Jericho looked up from his third helping of breakfast and leaned over his wife's shoulder to sneak a look at the contents of the letter. Xiphi was reading through it as quickly as she could, her hopes for lasting peace growing more and more with each and every word.
If this worked…
"Iris, I need that letter back." Without pausing, Xiphi snatched it from her daughter.
"HEY! MOTHER!!" Iris' face flushed red. "I was- that's private now! Y-you can't-"
She waved her hand dismissively, "Oh I already read the embarrassing parts, Sweetie, don't worry. That's why I handed it over to you, I know you like that sort of sappy stuff."
"If I remember rightly, you did too once upon a time," Jericho put in with a grin.
"Shush you," Xiphi joked, jumping to the end of the letter. "As I thought. Iris, reply to this boy, make him fall in love with you."
Jericho snorted as he read the small poem Mephisto had written for Iris. "By the sounds of this he already has. Goodness, this is more flowery than anything I ever wrote for your mother. Your eyes put the sky to shame // the iris flowers feel blessed to -"
"JERICHO!"
"DAD!"
Xiphi rolled the letter up and bapped her husband on the head with it before finally handing it back to Iris.
"Mother… Don't I get a choice in this? I like Mephisto, I really do, but…"
"Then what's the issue hmm?"
Iris sighed heavily, "Why him. Of all the people that have sent me love letters, or even marriage proposals - why the Runic Prince?"
"He's powerful. He'll be able to protect the kingdom well. Plus," she admitted, "his mother gives a very convincing argument."
"He got his mother to help him?" Iris asked incredulously.
Xiphi shook her head. "She acted independently I believe. She sees the potential in this union as I now do. Not to mention this is only the first step to peace. Acherontia is a very smart woman," she tapped the Runic Queen's letter, "She has a plan to solve our little issues with Xeris."
Cryptic though that was, Iris chose to ignore it and moved back to the topic at hand. "Okay but," she fiddled with the letter, "I...I need more time to get to know Mephisto."
Xiphi sighed. "I wish time is something we had, Sweetheart, but we only have until the Xerins leave. I doubt Laina would be willing to let her daughter return anytime soon so we have to sort this out while she's still here."
"Is this about Talia?" Xiphi nodded. "Mother! I- I almost… you know what I almost did." She bowed her head in shame and twisted the letter in her hands. "Talia's been through enough."
"Which is exactly why she needs a distraction! You mentioned before she had a… what do you kids call it these days? A crush? On the Runic Princess. So you get the Prince to fall in love with you, the family visits us, the Princess meets Talia, and falls in love with her. We get a union between the three most powerful kingdoms on the planet, ours truly included of course. Problems solved."
Iris shook her head. "Mother, just because Dad fell in love with you at first sight, doesn't mean it'll be that way for everyone. These things take-"
"Time yes I know. We don't have any. What do you think, Jericho?"
The King swiftly hid a grimace and smiled at his wife. "Wonderful idea, my love. Though perhaps we could give Iris a little more time, after all she does need to work on controlling her magic better. A union is all very well and good, but we need to ensure we don't have another… accident."
That was a very good point. "Very well." Xiphi turned to her daughter. "Two weeks."
Iris nodded. It wasn't a lot of time, but it was as much as she was going to get when war was just around the corner.
"If you have finished your meal, you can leave now, Iris." Xiphi said pointedly.
Knowing that look well, Iris rolled her eyes once her back was to her mother and left the dining hall, taking Mephisto's letter with her.
"MAKE SURE YOU REPLY TO MY FUTURE SON-IN-LAW."
"Will do, Mother!" Iris called back.
"ASK YOUR FATHER IF YOU NEED HELP WITH ANY POETRY."
"I'm good!"
"JUST IN CASE!"
Iris was well down the hall by now, "I SAID I'M GOOD!"
As the doorman finally shut the door, Xiphi glanced back at Acherontia's letter. "Jericho, can you tell your guards to look out for a box of lonsdaleite. Apparently Ati misplaced it the other night. Well, she says it was stolen so that's a possibility too I suppose."
The King nodded then raised an eyebrow at his wife. "Ati?"
"What? She's going to become family. Besides," she picked up her letter and pointed out the p.p.s at the end. "See, she even suggested I refer to her as Ati."
Holding his hands up defensively, Jericho replied, "I'm just saying. Maybe don't get too chummy with her yet. It sounds like she's getting herself a pretty sweet deal: her son the future king of Ephedia, and one of the world's most powerful magic users the future queen consort of her own kingdom. Something doesn't seem right to me."
Xiphi shrugged. "Runics are power hungry, always have been. So long as this plan works, they can be in whatever position they want. Besides, we always have plan B."
Jericho looked around nervously, making sure no one was listening in. "I just hope you know what you're doing. He's our last resort and you know it. Who knows what would happen to our kingdom - to our planet - if we placed all our hopes in him . It would radically change everythi-"
"Don't you think I know that!" Xiphi snapped. "But if this fails… we might not have a choice. Either way, we keep Iris away from him at all costs."

Hallo, so I'm gonna give that Talistio event a go tommrow and try and write a smol fic, do you have any advice for a first time fic writer by any chance?
Hmm. My advice would be to do your best to stay in character. Watching episodes to get a good grasp on their personality helps. Be sure to seperate your paragraphs; if someone different is talking, start a new one; if theres a shift in atmosphere or location etc, start a new paragraph. I think I recently reblogged something about that, so check my archives.Always check over your work when you return to work on it. Read through it to remind yourself of what you've done and see if theres something you want to change. Avoid constant capitalization for intensity. Italics, bolding, and bold italics are your best friend at conveying feelings. Look up word charts or fanfic guides to avoid issues like continuous use of "said" or "thinks"Always identify who's talking whether it be by name or by appearance. For example, if I'm having Talia say something but ive use "her/she" or her name in the last two mentions of her sometimes I'll use "the princess" or "the Xeris beauty" instead. You know who I'm talking about while still conveying her personality and position.Dont be afraid of being descriptive, but be careful not to over do it and sound like an infomercial :PThose are some basic rules I use for myself. Sometimes listening to music or watching movies helps too. Feel free to add on if I missed anything guys!

Gems of Ephedia: Garnet/Ruby
I’m still writing “Emerald” for Gems of Ephedia but I’m having ideas about a continuation/spin-off that mirrors the events of “Emerald” on Earth. I might as well dump it on Tumblr. It would be called either “Ruby” or “Garnet” in reference to Praxina’s colours.
The plot basically follows Lolirock and Praxina. I have this idea that high school has to resume soon. Zack plays in one of those open mic nights at a bar and comes across Praxina who is trying to plot how to ruin Iris’ life and drink away her sadness. Zack remembers her from the lake cleanup.
Somehow, Zack and Praxina start a duo. Prax has the lyrics, Zack has the tune. She has a haunting Amy Lee (singer from Evanescence) voice. Zack feels like they can have a good romantic relationship. Praxina has emotionally shut herself off except in the music because she needs to be totally focussed.
All the while, Lolirock are trying to reason and console her. Talia tries to give her the same advice that she mentioned at the end of “Xeris” where she has consulted books that tell her she needs to mourn.
Zack and Prax start to get popular. They become competitors to Lolirock.
