— zayne is really good at hiding it, but his tiny mannerisms bleed through enough to make it clear he’s worried. it’s not that he has an issue with you having guy best friends, it’s just that everyone else seems to assume you two are together despite zayne standing right there.

Zayne just stares. Blinks. Stares. Blinks again. You have to nudge him as a reminder that he is, in fact, in public, and that introductions are usually reciprocated by both parties. As soon as you make contact, it’s like a switch flips.

He breezes through his name, occupation, and a firm handshake (not too loose, not too tight), making it look so effortless that you almost forget he’d frozen like a statue as soon as he laid eyes on your best friend. Almost.

He does his best to hide it, but it’s clear something’s wrong. The slight clip to his voice, the furrow of his brow, the hesitance in his eyes when he looks at you — they may be imperceptible to the untrained eye, but all the telltale signs are there. It’s only a matter of time before you get an answer out of him.

“I’m an adult. I don’t worry about those kinds of things,” he says when you voice your suspicion a few days later.

You don’t say anything else, simply fix him with a deeper look and cross your arms. He doesn’t crack. It takes a whole five minutes of him pretending to go back to work before he sighs and makes a show of signing something.

“I may,” he says, setting the pen down gently, “Be slightly… somewhat…”

“Jealous?” you finish.

“No,” he says. “Annoyed.” Then, quickly, “Not at you. Or him. Just everyone else.”

You don’t quite understand. “Everyone else…?”

Now it’s Zayne’s turn to fix you with a look. “You can’t tell me you didn’t notice.”

Notice what? you want to ask, but refrain since you don’t want Zayne thinking you’re more oblivious than you already are. You rack your brain for something, anything that you can remember from that day, until…

“Oh,” you say. You do remember getting quite a few stares even before you and your friend coincidentally ran into Zayne. At first, you thought it was because you were still in uniform, but you realize now that it may have been for a completely different reason.

Zayne doesn’t respond, just taps his fingers against the wood of his desk, a nervous tic.

“Those were people who got the wrong idea,” you continue. Then, when his mouth dips into a frown, you move to stand beside him. “I don’t mind hunting them down and telling them just how wrong they were.”

At this, his frown begins to lift. “You don’t need to do that.”

“I would, though.”

He looks at you clearly for the first time in a few days, a hint of amusement sparkling in his eyes. “Really?”

“Yes, really,” you say. You maneuver yourself between him and the desk, falling into a half-straddle. “I’d go to their house, knock on the door, and tell them exactly how Dr. Zayne and I make out every Friday eveni—”

You feel his hand brush against your mouth, closing it.

“Alright, alright,” he interrupts with a small smile, “I get it. I’m secure enough in our relationship not to worry.” He pauses for a moment, then says, “Just don’t miss any checkups.”

“I’ll be right on time, as always,” you say, pressing a kiss to his temple. “And if anyone asks, i’ll tell them exactly who my boyfriend is.”

“Thank you.”

— xavier isn’t sure why you think he’d be annoyed, since your best friend seems nice enough. if anything, you’re the one that seems nervous, broaching the topic with him only to realize he hasn’t minded from the start.

Xavier looks a bit confused. His eyes shuffle between your face, his phone, and the twisting hands in your lap, a small, awkward smile beginning to spread on his face.

“Am I supposed to be… worried?” he asks.

“Are you?” you respond.

This prompts a light chuckle from your boyfriend. He shifts on the couch, turning until his arm rests on the back and his body is angled towards you. “Not really. What about you?”

You shrug. “Maybe a little.”

This seems to surprise Xavier, and you can’t blame him. You’re a bit surprised, too, given that most people’s roles would be flipped in this context.

Still, you can’t help it. Even though you’ve known your best friend for years — much longer than you’ve known Xavier — you don’t want your boyfriend to feel like he’s being overshadowed in his relationship with you. However, it currently seems like those worries are unfounded.

“Well, the way I see it…” Xavier leans in, brushing his lips against your temple, “… it’s wonderful you have so many people to share your life with.”

“You really think so?” you ask, just to make sure.

“Of course. Although…” He leans back, then, mid-afternoon light filtering through the window and washing his features soft gold. His eyes sharpen like sun rays piercing through a cloud. “… if he ever gives you trouble, let me know.”

— rafayel is very loud and clear about his jealousy, and you can count on him to become clingy after you hang out with your best friend. ultimately, you know he doesn’t mind nearly as much as he says he does, so you’re happy to indulge his want for attention if it means you can comfort him when he’s insecure.

Rafayel, as he is wont to do, makes his feelings known immediately and with such startling clarity that at first you think he’s joking.

“You’re serious?” you finally ask, the corners of your mouth tipping upwards into a smile while his stay fixed, pouting.

“Of course I am,” he says. He glares at the empty air beside you head as if it wronged him in a past life. “I mean, it’s fine and all, I guess, but we haven’t seen each other in four days. You haven’t even taken me plushie hunting. And yet…”

“And yet…?”

He crosses his arms and mumbles.

“Use your words, Raf.”

He sighs. “You were with him all day. People were staring.”

“And so you’re jealous,” you deadpan, “because my best friend helped me with a case.”

“Yes!” he says, as if it’s the most natural thing in the world. “I could’ve helped too! If you keep going around without me like that, you’ll… you’ll…” Something changes in his eyes, and he clicks his tongue, looking away. “Whatever. It doesn’t matter.”

You know your boyfriend well enough by this point to grasp what he’s hinting at. Putting your own frustration aside, you lean in, the soft fabric of Rafayel’s shirt brushing against your fingertips. You plant a soft kiss on his cheek.

“I’m not going to forget you,” you say. Then, you find his arm, uncrossing it so you can take his pinky in yours. “Promise.”

Slowly, slightly, the tension in his shoulders begins to release.

“Can we go plushie hunting?” he mumbles. Then, “Just the two of us?”

You smile. “Of course.”

Enid Sinclair Werewolf Headcanons

Basic Understanding:

Strength: Enid is the physically strongest member of the squad (Bianca, Yoko, Xavier, Ajax, Eugene, Divina, and Wednesday) majority of the time she doesn’t get to show it as she has no interest in any form of fighting. Her muscles do expand a little more in her human body, more noticeable when she’s wearing sleeveless tops. She lands the designated jar opener of the group. Speed: While Yoko is still the fastest, Enid comes second (in human form.) She’s both a fast walker and fast runner - when she shares food with people, nobody sees how fast her swipes are from the bowl.

Which is why sometimes she gets her own food bowl.

Endurance: Her athleticism is all thanks to both her love for moving and being a werewolf. Her cardio workouts have to be on the extreme end in order to make progress, like running in the woods in all fours for 5 hours straight instead of normal running. She spends all her energy to kpop dance tutorials. Noises: Growls, Grunts, whimpers, barks - They all exist in her vocabulary. Although she feels rather embarrassed whenever it slips up. Something about her emotions getting the best of her whenever one of those come out. Nobody in the squad teased her about it, lest they want to end up on Wednesday’s personally hit list. She whimpers a lot when watching horror movies.

Roomie Privileges: (These are special cases that only occur to Wednesday.)

Pets: Whenever Enid is in a particularly needy mood, she goes to Wednesday for pets. “Yeah I know but...” Enid looked down shyly. The blazer wrinkled under tightened hands. “It smelled uncomfortable!” Wednesday merely raised a brow. “... I am to assume you made it ‘smell comfortably?” Enid cringed. “Y-yeah?” Wednesday only blinked at her. She took the jacket and gave it a curious sniff. “Your cinnamon candles emanate a most nauseating scent, Enid.”

Enid perked up. She watched Wednesday slip it on with ease, straightened out perfectly well. “Suppose it’ll be efficient to strangle any passerby idiotic furs... Now, let’s return to the dorm. This ‘Bomb Time Haste’ show you speak of sounds torturous.” Enid’s smile reached to her ears. “Jeez, it’s Big Time Rush!” Biting: She gently bites or nips on Wednesday whether it be on her clothes or skin. It could be from a slew of reasons, but she mostly does it because she’s fond of her roommate. She bites the side of Wednesday’s hand usually not too hard but enough to leave a mark. On rare occasions, the collar of Wednesday’s clothes when they’re in the middle of some intense petting session. Enid took a deep breath while she leaned further into Wednesday. Her face to Wednesday’s neck as she practically laid on top of her. The pets from both her head and her back were driving her to bliss she’d never thought of having. To add on to it, their scent mixed together... “Enid, you’re biting.” Enid lazily opened an eye. She whimpered quietly. “I am not mad.” Wednesday sighed as Enid further dove onto her neck. A small huff and a grunt. “...It would seem I have spoiled you far too much recently.” Enid tightened her hold on Wednesday. More whimpers. “Don’t put words into my mouth. I simply said I have spoiled you.” Wednesday gently brushed her nape. “I did not say I’ll stop.”

Licking: Funny enough, it wasn’t Enid that started this habit. Rather a curious Wednesday. After studying more on werewolf culture, the goth learned licks from werewolves formed a way to calm down a pack member. Enid happened to be nervous for an upcoming test and well... “Wends! Did you just lick me?!” Enid’s voice rose to octaves she didn’t even know she could reach. Her wide eyes and a quick hand landed on the spot just below her ear. Wednesday merely nodded. “One of the encyclopedia’s of canine monsters mentions it is a therapeutic method: Heart rate returns to acceptable levels in a single lick.” “Actually I think cardiac arrest is far closer!” Enid huffs, “And that only works if we’re both werewolves!” Enid held her tongue when she saw Wednesday tighten her jaw. “W-wait you were researching...?” “Yes, for the past few days your distracting pacing around and whimpers during your studies have halted my writing time.” Enid processed the information as quick as she could. Before hastily standing up and putting Wednesday’s hand in hers. “You can be so sweet you know, that?” “I’ll skin you alive in your next wolf out, Sinclair.” There was no bite to it at all. Enid only smiled. “I’ll let you lick me... If you’re okay with me licking you?” Wednesday blinked. “I’m not a werewolf.” “And that didn’t stop you from licking me.” Enid teased. In the end, she gave a sigh. Wednesday’s space needs to be respected. “Okay - I get it you -” “You may.” Enid tilted her head to the side. “You may lick me, Enid.” There it is, another blinding smile. “Only in this room. Anywhere else, I will personally pack that wretched red bag of yours and hurl it at Yoko’s door. Are we clear?” Enid nods quickly and immediately leans in for a few licks on Wednesday’s cheek.

Wenclair/Nevermore gang paintball headcanon

OKAY Y’ALL GET TO SUFFER WITH THIS TOO!

@erzatscarlet and I were messing around with different funny ideas the Nevermore gang would get up to and paintball came into conversation. Let me start off by saying, I don’t believe Wednesday enjoys guns in any fashion. Not for moral reason (we know she’s short on morals anyway) but more for “practicality”. Guns are range weapons, and we know damn well Wednesday Addams wants to get up close and personal with her victims.

So yeah, no guns. BUT! We both agreed she’d be one hell of a marksman thanks to target shooting for fun and being freakishly good at it.

SO, one late fall afternoon, Wednesday agrees to go paintballing with Enid, Yoko, Bianca, Ajax, Xavier and the rest of the Nevermore gang. She DETESTS sports of any kind but enjoys the idea of "hunting". She agrees on one condition: she's allowed to do her own thing and belongs to no team. A rogue agent. They all agree after making her sign a contract stating she won't actually KILL ANYONE or cause SERIOUS BODILY HARM ON PAIN OF ENID AND HER BREAKING UP. Wednesday agrees (begrudgingly) and they all head off.

The tourney ground they choose is in a heavily wooded area. They get there, get registered, get suited up, and disperse. Enid sticks with Wednesday until she slips away into the woods and the game gets under way. For shits and giggles, the group decides to just do elimination rounds and it's all super fun at first.

Ajax and his boys get ousted early on. Xavier is a little better and stays in by the skin of his teeth. Bianca's got grace and speed and manages to stay in for longer than expected. Enid is a fucking werewolf and fast as fuck. Yoko is ass-old and knows all kinds of tricks, so by the end of things it's just the four of them trying to pick the other off. No one's really notices Wednesday's missing until Xavier's shot in the back of the helmet with crimson red paint. It's enough of a blow to knock him over (you don't shoot for the head) but he's out and grumpy about it.

Bianca’s next. She's crouched in a really good location behind a crop of trees but she feels the stinging snap (and if you’ve never experienced a paintball exploding against you...it’s hell) of a paintball hitting the side of her neck. Crimson red. She out and pissed.

Yoko's stalking Enid who's gone mostly wolf. She's fast but she's not exactly quiet. Not like a vampire, anyway. Yoko spots the blonde slipping through the underbrush and quietly puts her gun between the V of two trees and takes aim. Just before she can line up the perfect shot at Enid's ass she's shot in the armpit. Crimson paint. She's out and howling cause that fucking hurt and who the fuck uses paintballs the color of blood?

Enid, ears always perked, hears everyone get eliminated. With a little mental math, she's able to figure out it's just her and Wednesday who, up until now, hasn't shown herself or gotten hit. It's almost like she disappeared. Enid knows better and goes on the prowl, looking for a scent. It's sort of cheating but hey, she's a wolf. It's in her nature to hunt.

Slowly she creeps through the playing field. She thinks she catches a faint, familiar scent somewhere near a shallow gully filled with rotting, fallen leaves from the pervious fall. She THINKS she sees something that looks person-shaped crouching low among the underbrush and pounces before it can get up and run, lighting up the area with paintballs. No dice. It's only an old tarp stuffed with leaves and moss to look like ....WAIT!

She feels it then. The muzzle of a gun tap the side of her helmet. She freezes. Looks to the side and sees fucking WEDNESDAY ADDAMS IN A GHILLIE SUIT WITH HER FACE PAINTED IN CAMO COLORS GIVING HER SUCH A SMUG HALF-SMILE ALL ENID WANTS TO DO IS THROTTLE HER AND KISS HER IN EQUAL PARTS.

"All's fair in love and war, mi loba."

AND SHE FUCKING SHOOTS HER GIRLFRIEND POINT BLANK.

Game. Set. Match.

Wednesday rises victorious among a crowd of angry friends all baying for a rematch. Enid is both furious and hellatiously impressed. Wednesday owes her Starbucks after shooting her in the head. Wednesday replies that to the victors go the spoils. No one knows what she means, but no one really wants to stick around a find out.

He gets together a group of people from work that he knows that you like first

Xavier plans out a campaign based around things that he knows you like

The two of you plan out your character, and it takes a whole afternoon because Xavier knows how important character work is to you

A couple weeks later is your first session, and it's the most fun you've had in a long time

It takes a little while, but you eventually get very into the roleplaying aspect of the game

The sessions start going by the more you get into them, and once the campaign is over, you ask if Xavier has other ones that he wants to play

Howdy! I simply adore your story and I was hoping to ask a few questions!

1. Do you have a fun fancast for Elain and Azriel and if so, who?

2. Where did your mind come up with this beautiful story?

I also want to share with you that my favorite part of the most recent chapter was probably Azriel carving the little sculpture with truth teller. I know Elain was close with her father and he used to carve things during their time in the cabin. I’m not sure if you’ve done it intentionally but it’s such a sweet node to her father and I love it. I know papa Archeron failed them but I also know being a parent isn’t easy. He’s one of the most human characters SJM has ever written (along side Elain and Nesta). The fact that a hobby that Az openly partakes in also woodcarving is sweet.

Anon, I love these questions and thank you for asking them!

1. My headcannons for these two may be slightly divergent from the series. In my mind Elain leans towards brunette with strong brows not unlike bridget satterlee but with big wavy hair. She's around 5'7, with fuller hips/thighs and smaller bust than her sisters. Her hands are nearly as scarred as Az's from years of gardening.

Azriel has straight up curls in my mind for whatever reason. Xavier Serrano is a close one for me. As I've mentioned I see him more lean muscle than bulk, and he's lighter on his feet than either of his brothers. He also has much fuller lips in my mind. He fights with more finesse and less raw strength, prefers two handed weaponry- a dagger and shortsword to a longsword. I would love for the actors playing the bat boys in the series to be Israeli honestly, I think they are the most beautiful men in the world. But the show stresses me out so I'm choosing to believe it's not happening.

2. This story came to me as I was re-reading acotar for the first time since 2020 and began to develop very specific headcanons about Elain having earth magic tied to her Sight and solid lore connecting the two. I also wanted her to be trained by a female instead of another dude and not as a warrior, hence the Oracle. I'm not a huge fanfiction reader (admittedly pretty damn particular about them) so mostly I just decided to write my own story to satisfy the itch I couldn't find. I have always loved Elain. I think she's very understated in the series, but we have a lot in common. I too am a verdant loving softspoken femme with quiet strength. I love writing Elain and Az because not unlike them, I think a lot more than I speak, and there's a world underneath people are unaware of. My relationships are also constantly laced with unspoken, quiet delicacies. It is probably why so much of this story leans on internal monologue. SO much of the italics are things I have literally thought in my own relationships and never spoken aloud.

Another inevitable battle lost.

3. I don't deserve anything but these sorts of asks just make my whole week and are so fun. Good catch on Azriel's carving! There is definitely a parallel there between Az and her father that will be revealed next chapter. He always has a knife on him, so wood carving seemed like a natural hobby for soft shadowboi. I love each of you for even reading this damn thing. As a new writer the whole process is rather frightening I never imagined anyone would even really see it. XOXO.

Ah, the Blue Lions class. My first route playing this game. A fascinating lot, especially since I used to really dislike some of the members of the house until I saw their interactions with other classes.

Dedue Molinaro: loyal friends and gentle giants with hearts of gold aren't very common in pro wrestling, so we're gonna go with a smaller (in size, not heart) pick: Big E. Dedue could use some Power of Positivity in his life, Goddess knows how he deals with Dimitri and the rest of the Lions.

Felix Hugo Fraldarius: the man who in my opinion is the likeliest to defect from the Faerghus Four to join Adrestria is best represented by the man who stabbed his Shield brothers in the back and joined the Authority: Seth "Freaking" Rollins. Burn it down, Felix.

(And much like Seth Rollins later on, Felix also proves to be a great hero/babyface in his original house's route or in the VW/SS routes. I can't help liking Felix or Seth, be they at their best or worst.)

Sylvain José Gautier: being Fodlan's resident titty master, it only makes sense for Sylvain to be the third Shield member: Dean Ambrose. And yes, he's also Jon Moxley. Bleeding half to death every fight is only going to make him more attractive to Renee Ingrid.

(Why yes, Sylvain does hate Claude (by God) von Riegan. How could you tell that was my headcanon?)

Ingrid Brandl Galatea: just having her be Renee Young/Paquette would be a cop out, so here's an alternative suggestion: why not Taya Valkyrie? Yes, the 3H class pun is completely intentional.

Ashe Ubert: a big knight nerd who just wants to help his friends, his friendship with Dedue matches him perfectly with Xavier Woods. If Ashe won the White Heron Cup, would he be King Ashe? Some food for thought.

Annette Fantine Dominic: a cheerful friendly redhead who's very passionate and headstrong? Seems to me that Annette's the Man. Much like Becky Lynch, Annette is an underdog in a world out to crush her spirit, and just like Lynch, Annette comes out on top.

(While my pro wrestler picks for Felix and Annette would suggest I'm a secret Felannie shipper, my loyalty lies with different pairings for those two in universe. Now, in a pro wrestling themed AU? I'm all for it!)

Mercedes von Martritz: the sweetest woman in all of Fodlan, it stands to reason her wrestling equivalent would be similar to her in nature. Allie is one of the nicest women in wrestling both in and out of kayfabe, but she's got a sadistic side that comes out when she dons her Bunny persona, akin to Mercedes' brother Emile the Death Knight.

Short headcanons and stuff about my ocs below

Laventon:

Unfortunate genetics has caused him to go gray early and he is steadily losing his hair. And years of sun has made him look older than he really is.

A lot of his older injuries have started taking a toll on his aging body, but especially his leg. So he uses his cane more and more. He rarely goes out into the field due to this, instead sending his new assistant, which just so happens to be Kamado’s son.

He’s ditched the vest for a sweater. It’s warmer and comfier.

Cyllene:

After having three kids, the back pain has really stuck around. Luckily daily stretches help!

Due to her genetics and her stress eating, she can’t seem to shed a single pound! She wants to stay as fit as possible for any situation, but Pesselle says she’s as healthy as can be. She’s become comfortable with herself.

While pregnant with her youngest, Xavier, Kamado approached her with the offer of taking his position of commander. She accepted of course, but her time wouldn’t start until after her son was born and she’s recovered. To take her place as survey corps captain, she chose Akari.

Fern is from Galar. He’s the youngest son of a fellow professor and old friend of Laventon’s. Fern moved to Hisui/Sinnoh with his father for research related purposes. He’s a nervous guy, but he became quick friends with Lyra. She pushes him to get out of his shell. The two began dating in the early teen years, but there was a set back. Fern had to return back to Galar. So they wrote back and forth. Lyra joined the survey corps at the age of 16 with her then Growlith. Fern returned 4 years later and asked Laventon for his blessing, promptly proposing to Lyra. He got a job with the survey corps to pay for their way to Galar, as Lyra was bored with the pokemon of Sinnoh and wanted to meet completely new ones.

Xavier is selectively mute. He’s pretty anxious and has difficulty with socializing. Wood carving and crafting, however, seems to break him of this difficulty. Momentarily anyway. He was 4 when he took up the interest and he never has put it down since. He mostly like carving pokemon, but he’s learning to make pokeballs too. He likes showing his creations off to his parents and hearing their feedback.

Moby, or preferably Richard in professional settings, has followed in his fathers footsteps. He’s taken a huge liking to pokemon research, specifically their biology. He’s gone to Johto and started a Pokédex, but it was never finished. In fact, he has a hard time finishing a lot of things on time or at all. Unless he has a huge passion for it, it’s likely going to be dropped within a month. Growing up, Moby mimicked Cyllene all the time.
