My Gaming Passion Grows - Jan 1989
It was now January 1989, the Christmas holiday (my favourite holiday as a kid and still to this day) was sadly over and it was back to school. Still revelling in the power of the Amstrad I was excited to tell my best mate at the time all about it and what these new fangled computers could do. The best mate in question was Rob, a boy I’d known since nursery and who lived in our village. Up until this point our only experience playing a video game together was Robs copy of the Donkey Kong Game and Watch which he’d brought into school on a number of occasions. Turns out for that Christmas he’d also received his own special electronic surprise in the form of a ZX Spectrum. We then spent the rest of the day comparing games and joystick details and decided to meet up over the weekend and try out each other’s systems.
Having spent an unhealthy amount of time at Robs house over the coming months I started to get a good taste of the variety of games available for both computers though secretly I preferred the Amstrads detailed graphics over the Spectrum’s comical colour clash. Some of my favourite games on the Spectrum included Robocop, R-Type and Ghosts n Goblins whilst on my brothers computer (which I had basically inherited by this point) were Bruce Lee, Renegade and Barbarian.
Thinking back I suppose it was a bit of a strange choice to buy my brother an Amstrad over say the ZX Spectrum or even a Commodore 64 as this would have been the least popular of the three in 1988? Maybe the store manager was on some kind of commission when my dad marched into the store that day or maybe my dad just got the decision completely wrong, either way my child like brain at the time was convinced we had the superior computer and I was very happy.

After our eleventh birthday’s had past it was decided both Rob and I were mature enough to venture alone into our local market town unsupervised. Every Saturday armed with our weekly pocket money we would venture out on our skateboards (the latest craze at the time) to spend the morning wandering around Woolworths, Toymaster and the little independent video game shop in the centre of Hyde (I wish I could remember it’s name).
The shop was a small square shaped room, pretty dark and decorated with various gaming posters. On all four walls and down the centre were racks of Amstrad, Spectrum and Commodore games all priced between £1.99 and £2.99. Rob and I would eagerly flick through the latest releases from Code Masters, the Hit Squad and US Gold, eyeing up the gorgeous artwork and imagining what these games would actually play like. Next we would turn our attention to the far wall where the coveted £9.99 games were on display in their beautiful square cardboard boxes. These really were the creme de la creme of video games, the posh kid games which we could only hope for on birthdays and Christmas. Double Dragon, Batman, Chase HQ. I fondly remember the box for Robocop which was the size of a hardback book and came complete with a pullout poster. Sat behind the counter would sit a zit infested teenager watching a small black and white television and smoking cigarettes but if any gaming advice was needed, he was your man.
Tumblr media
Being poor eleven year olds we didn’t often have enough money to actually buy the games in question, just hold and smell them! On the rare occasions we did have enough money for a game (usually thanks to a generous grandparent) we would spend a good hour choosing the right title (you didn’t want to mess this part up). With new game in hand we would nip to the chip shop for a spot of lunch then sit down in the indoor market hall to lovingly read the foldout instruction inlays. Next would be a couple of credits on the ever changing arcade machine which sat at the entrance to the market hall, during this period it would be the money guzzling Robocop.
Finally no shopping trip to Hyde would be complete without a visit to the local newsagents to read the latest video game magazines off the racks. For Rob it would be Crash Magazine to wet his Spectrum whistle but unfortunately for me all I seemed to get hold of was Amstrad Action which compared to Crash always felt a bit boring. The idea was to read as much as possible before the owner of the shop caught us and threatened to chuck us out which happened on many occasions. The best bit about these magazines had to be the cover tapes. If you were lucky you could find a cracking demo cassette on the front which was often more worthwhile purchasing then an actual game as it could contain four games in one which for an eleven year old boy was mind blowing.

Woolworths attempting to lure budget-savvy beauty customers
Woolworths are hoping to entice price range-savvy skincare shoppers into their supermarkets with the release of its new discount skin care range.
You, which has been scientifically and dermatologically tested, consists of 3 tiers for ladies at specific stages of their lives: regular middle, age shield, and age regenerate.
Woolworth’s product developer Tagline MacKenzie says the supermarket chain has been operating hard to ensure the formulation are proper for his or her new Vogue skin care range.
The substances in this merchandise assist fight the symptoms of getting older, wrinkles, help hold your skin’s elasticity and intense hydration in your skin,” Ms. MacKenzie told A Contemporary Affair.
With all our products, we’ve taken out the skin sensitizing preservative, referred to as MIT and MCIT. those are already banned in leave-on merchandise, along with moisturizers, however, we have long gone one step in addition and taken them out of the wash-off merchandise as nicely.”
We’ve got micellar water and eye makeup remover, after which we were given into our wash and cleanse-off merchandise.”
Professional makeup artist and mother-of-, Jules Sebastian, has partnered with Woolworths to launch the variety.
“I’m a mom myself and that I remember the fact that different moms want to attend to themselves,” she said. We are time poor, we’re always in a rush and this product is so clean to pick-up from the grocery store whilst you’re doing all your buying and it’s clean to apply step by means of step.” Expert makeup artist Jules Sebastian (left) has partnered with Woolworths to release the range. She mentioned why she thinks the goods are extraordinary with A Modern Affair reporter Lauren Goldman (right)
9Honey beauty editor Kelly Baker believes you can get quality skincare from a grocery store.
If you’re searching out a finances product that does the job at a less expensive price, I assume this could be it for you,” she said.
“They have the money at the back of them. They can have enough money to apply extraordinary elements, They could have enough money to do the research and improvement and bring out this awesome product at a virtually low charge.”
Looks Like Woolworths Are Going Going Gone
As the credit score crunch is in complete swing, it has hit quite a few corporations and businesses, however certainly one of the bigger surprises became whilst every person heard that Woolworths would be going into administration. The logo keep has been around for decades, but it appears as even though this credit score crunch placed the closing nail into the coffin as Woolworths just could not rid in their underlying mountain of debts.
The eleventh of December looks as if a date in an effort to go down in History for the stores as it is signaling the end of a generation. On this day Woolworths shops around the United Kingdom could be beginning their remaining down income as directors Deloitte hope to get a few finances reinstated.
The sale changed into being placed on hold because it changed into the thought that a client could come to the rescue. There were numerous talks and discussions as to who might turn out to be shopping for the shops, however, all the offers to date have fallen through. it’s far idea that Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco, the Co-op and discount chain Pound land are nonetheless inquisitive about choosing up a number of the store’s top sites.
The administrators have said that Christmas is the busiest time of the 12 months so launching a big sale now will help them rid of inventory. They have also said that maximum of the shops could turn out to be closing before New 12 months arrives.
So what passed off to this type of large company? In which did it all across wrong? Let’s have a look at some errors that I trust Woolworths made.
1) Woolworth was a huge corporation there customers cherished the deals they provided. however, with competition springing up which include the Pound Land and Wilkinson’s, Woolworths just couldn’t keep up. 2) I do not suppose they knew how to logo themselves very well; they had been misplaced to discover a niche they specialized in and therefore copied human beings along with Argos. three) They did not sell themselves online; we all know that now greater than ever its miles essential to make a fine net presence.
All of these troubles and many extra have visible one in all the most important Uk corporations crumble. Woolworths had been because of rejoicing it is a centesimal anniversary subsequent 12 months. Its first Uk shop opened in Liverpool in 1909. Properly it looks as if this will never occur now and it’s a disgrace to look the credit score crunch dispose of one of these conventional and widely known established order.woolworths wikis
My Exasperation in Attempting to Decipher YouTube Video Comments
I have now not yet made a comment on any YouTube video that I’ve watched but I have tried to read a number of them, which I’ve observed to be a completely traumatic and frustrating undertaking, to mention the least. Most of the people of people that submit a remark approximately a specific video do no longer use proper grammar, letter spacing techniques, sentence structure, or any basic faculty degree writing skills on the way to make their comments readable. Due to this lack of writing abilities through the extensive majority of YouTube video commenters, I very seldom study them.attempting thesaurus
I would love to know the viewpoints of others concerning a selected video that I’ve watched however in trying to achieve this through studying the remarks on it most effective offers me a dry mouth. The manner wherein so lots of these video comments are established causes me now not to need to participate in any of the discussions even on a video that I have shared an opinion about. I’m not the best in grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure but I do take some time to compose what I am going to submit in a structure that is understandable and readable.
Here is a remark submitted with the aid of Ami Move, on one of the YouTube films.
“..sure reality the whole thing claimed on YT is fake and feature something at the back of forex. Narcissism, selfishness, and greed. human beings like you just talking bad approximately the others and suppose them are clever. negative feedback anywhere, simply doing matters to impress themselves.Fooled via the radio, television and the magazines. Move back to your cave, smart man!”
Now, what within the international is that this man or woman trying to deliver?
And here is another remark from a person known as Horizon Above and Beyond, on the same YouTube video.
“It is superb/unhappy/travesty that almost ( ninety-nine % Naive/Deceived ) Earth Population… Are arguing for an idea ( small/insignificant ). And with these ( huge bang explosion/monkey evolution ) main the way… inside the ( small/insignificant ) category!! Whether it’ll be known/unbeknownst to them as pertaining to ( Globe earth )… not to mention look who is in the back of the “fabrication” ( Satanists). Conversely debating/rejecting/condemning/mocking an Ideology ( Flat earth )… That portrays humanity ( middle of creation )!!!!”
If you understand this comment you can’t best jump to the top of the elegance but also into the trainer’s chair.
Beauty Salon Business Forms
Each beauty salon has its own enterprise bureaucracy for neat functioning. splendor salon enterprise bureaucracy can be PC paperwork or manual paperwork, which are used in sales or offerings.

Common guide paperwork encompasses invoices, receipts, estimates, statements, human aid materials, credit memos, packing lists, transport and export forms, timecards, and warehouse/receiving forms. laptop forms may be invoices, statements, proposals, payments, purchase orders, and estimates.
